The place serves really good south Indian food.being a south India myself my expectations was really high and trust me the place serves really good south Indian snacks ..I have tasted most of the items there and have to tell the flavor of the south is definitely there which is hard to find in a place like Mumbai
The Ghee dosa is just awesome and the onion Rava masala is also equally good
If u want something light in the mornings they serve really good pongal and wada..the upma is also good
Finally the tea and the filter kapi is must try
So if u are in Chembur definitely recommend this place!
Awesome authentic South Indian lunch..bit crowded but worth the food. Tried the mysuru pak which I loved too. Heaven food. The staff at the billing was a bit cranky.
After a long hold i could finally Pay a Visit here for breakfast. This one is located in small lane making it hard to find parking so rather take a auto. It's best to visit them during breakfast hours and dont be surprised to find waiting as the place was literally full house on weekend morning. Also be ready to share tables. Once your order is taken, it doesn't takes much long to find the delicious south Indian items on your table. It's worth a visit for sure

How better can a weekend morning be than walking into a south Indian restaurant and gobble breakfast!
The place was crowded making us wait for our turn. The wait gets rewarded by the fresh breakfast items served hot. The Pongal rice was nice and tasty with sambar and chutney. The onion #uttappam was awesome. The game changer was the rava masala dosa sprinkled with pure clarified butter. Well, ghee is the crown jewel of the south Indian cuisine. Medu vada and dosa were soft and tasty. Missed the Puri bhaji as the stock got over. A #tumbler of hot tea marked the end of an awesome morning food ritual.

I heard so much buzz about manis from my friends that on the last weekend i finally made it. Surely good for snacks like vada, idli, dosa and uttappam but south indian traditional meal is not exactly my kind of food.
Good place to eat rasam wada,idli and dosa. They have a wide range of south indian dishes and tasty ones.

During its long stay at Matunga, in the midst of a cluster of South Indian eateries - particularly Tamilian ones- Mani’s Lunch home carved an iconic profile with its home style meals- the kind that people from the South missing their families and home food went to. And it was a simple meal with rice, rasam, sambhar, curds, papadoms and a vegetable or two. Nothing fancy. But it was the home style cooking that won them over- afterall where would you find baby onion sambhar or baingan sambhar other than at home!
And so it’s reputation was indelibly etched in the minds of Matunga-ites.
In 2016, the building housing the restaurant went into redevelopment and Mani’s shifted to Chembur leaving a small little outlet next to Ruia college serving it’s famed Dosas.
Been wanting to visit Manis in Chembur for a long time and upon finishing work in Vashi by lunch time I found the opportunity.
At lunch time all Mani’s was serving at every packed table (99% were people from the South including elderly homemakers) was their Thali meal served in a large stainless steel thaali. At Rs 80/- the Thali is value for money. I asked for ghee, two papadoms and rice as add ons. Rasam and sambhar is as much as you want. I paid Rs140/- for a filling happy home style Tamil meal. Finished with a Madras Pan ( veeda) - Rs 7/-, was happy.
Perhaps the mutter vegetable with a distinct Unsouthindian taste was a mismatch. But everything else was what one would eat at home.
The restaurant has small but comfortable tables. Service is brisk. There is no parking around - it’s in a residential area and every bylane is packed with parked vehicles.
Mani’s Lunch home is the kind of South Indian restaurant you wish was there in your neighbourhood. Happily Recommended!

One of the oldest place serving South Indian Food which was originally located in Matunga but due to some reason they had to shut down. And now they have shifted to Chembur where they have really spacious seating arrangement. Even after shifting the taste remains the same tho! Many people do come to have lunch as well! Have been to this place many a times but yes my order is set!

You can't miss this if you love Shira as it is made up of pure ghee!

A very unique place which offers genuine South Indian food. The sambar tastes authentic and not watery or tasteless like some of the other restaurants in the same genre in mumbai. The Mysore pak is yummy and just melt in the mouth, which some other places don’t have since they are stingy about ghee.

Vada was great crispy on outside and soft inside.. Sambar and Chutney were very good.

This place is really busy and it's South Indian cuisine is a hit with the locals. We tried the Butter Masala Dosa, Addai and Filter Coffee.
Butter Masala Dosa was perfect, served with fresh coconut chutney and hot sambaar.
Addai was good but the jaggery was missing.
Filter Coffee was served in a flash and was upto the mark!
Ambience - 3/5 (Tables are really close to each other, you'll surely poke your elbow into someone and you gotta walk sideways to get to the wash basin. )

Once morining my friend suggested me mani's lunch home to had south Indian food. I order thali there which had many items in it i just loved that thali and in sweets i orderd maysore pak. It was delicious and i would like uh to suggest too.

Our friend's been telling us to visit this place for a long time, so we finally visited a couple of days back.
It's a pretty old school regular restaurant, no fancy stuff but they've definitely got the taste right!
You will definitely have a great time.
Loved the medu wada and sheera at this place. Did not like the dosas much. Best is they serve unlimited sambar and chutney. Quick service and cordial staff.
South Indian food at reasonable price. Limited and unlimited thali both option available.. Food is tasty and Service is prompt with good ambience..

We are lucky to have a cafe Madras of our own in Chembur. We don't have to wait in long queues of matunga and we can enjoy the same crispy dosa dipped in lip smacking sambhar and chutney.
SET DOSA, RAVA SADA DOSA, WADA Sambhar, UPMA, PONGAL are some of my favourite dishes here. Their sambhar is very delicious and is served hot.
we also ask for some gun powder chutney along with it. And this meal doesn't complete without filter coffee in the end.
Service is pretty quick as it is in any South Indian joint. Don't expect any sweet spoken, polished staff but their basic mannerism of keeping the table clean and not leaving any visitor unattended does the job.
If you are going for a takeaway then do ask for extra sambhar as they pack little sambhar in a takeaway packet.
Mani’s is nothing but home away from home. If you crave for home cooked food and are short on cash then this is the place to go. Their special meals are a delight to hog on. Unlimited piping hot sambar and rasam along with food just serves the purpose well. Must try at least once if you have never been here and discover the place for yourself. I doubt if anyone would not want to come back.
Have been to this place no of times, in fact almost every Sunday post run ... a good place for hot South Indian breakfast ... they give unlimited sambhar n chutney which is a big plus ... and due to constant inflow of customers and quick turn around, u always get hot idli and sambhar ... their sambhar is a bit different but I like it and it has lots of vegetables in it ... they also give single idli or single vada or Pongal with vada etc ... highly recommend anyone who wants to have good quality South Indian food and lots of sambhar ...
As authentic as the experience can get. Flavourful sambar, soft idlis, crispy medu wadas, soft+crisp dosas and the best filter coffee you will ever devour! If you go early enough, you may make it in time before they run out of their amazing tomato chutney. My family has spent several hours over-eating at this lovely eatery. Definitely a personal weekend favourite.
Make sure to enquire about the Chettinad dosa on weekends, it's a special addition.

One of the best places for a south Indian thali. Their rasam rice and puliyogare are the best dishes which I liked in this place. Ghee idly also adds to the best dishes.
This was a long due. All life been Mani's Matunga so rarely u like other places to eat. But the Chembur OL is just fab. Quick service. Prompt guys to help u out if confused in ordering & unbelievably tasty food. U enter the premises and can smell the sambar ... It's mouthwatering ... Be fast be early coz u wud never get seats easily, or be ready to share it. Things to order - hmmm almost everything from the menu. This is the best place for South Indian food in Chembur. They deliver lunch thali and every crumb is super delicious. But the killer is the Mysore pak. It is so good that it beats caramel fudge!

A wonderful place to have some authentic South Indian food. The parking nearby is difficult and gets crowded during lunch time and may have to wait and also may have share the table with someone else.

Simple place, simple food but high on taste. One of the old houses of authentic south indian Tiffins and meals in Mumbai. Non-udipi/mangalorean place, you can find the difference in the taste of the sambar itself(a world better).
Very economical, sticks to the restricted menu and focuses on quality. Highly recommended for S.Indian lovers.

The evergreen authentic South Indian food place... have had their dosas n idlis n wadas many times (one of the best) and this time decided to try their lunch thali.
Simple and tastes like homemade.... even veggies like gawar... pumpkin n doodhi (which I would never eat at home any which way cooked) taste super good. The sambhar-Rice is also good n u can not stop asking for the papadam 😉

The thali is unlimited but not the space in ur tummy ... inspite of ur inner self asking for more, u can eat no more!!!

My grandmother used to visit this place, during her college days. I am visiting this place from childhood.
Idli is soft and fresh, medu vada are crispy served with chutney and sambhar. There have variety of uttapam and dosa.
They have special paper dosa, which is paper thin and crispy.

Manis lunch home has always been my favorite spot from my college days in Matunga.On a Sunday I had some work in Matunga so decided to visit Manis lunch home . I am visiting this restaurant after a gap of 4 years. I ordered Idli vada sambar while my wife ordered lemon rice.The idli vada sambar was very good compared to all the ones I tasted in & around Mumbai. It was very close to the taste in southern part of India. In my college days visit to this restaurant made me nostalgic.As usual even after 24 years they still maintain the restaurant neat & clean. They still serve unlimited sambar & chutney with the dishes.I loved their chutney more than their sambar.The taste of idli vada was same as that tasted four year/ even 24 years before.It was always difficult to get a place to sit inside the restaurant during weekends especially the peak hours. Today we went at an odd time of 11 am so we could comfortably sit inside the small restaurant.The lemon rice was served with kerala pappadam & chutney. It tasted good. The rice looked bulky similar to that used in Kerala.Overall it tasted good.Then although my stomach was full I wanted to taste their plain dosa to which I am a bigger fan.The dosa taste amazing good & kudos to the team for maintaining their standards over the years. I topped it with a nice filter coffee. The coffee was great & a must have so whenever you have food here pls keep space for the filter coffee. My wife is a tea lover so she ordered Tea. The teas was good as per her. I did not want to spoil my coffee taste😜 so did not taste the tea.I love to keep the taste of filter coffee to stay in my mouth as long as possible.It was nice to recollect old memories sitting in this restaurant. It had made our day.Thanks to the management to keep the restaurant intact even after so many years. Hats off to the team.It is a must visit restaurant in Mumbai if you like authentic South Indian breakfast.

One of the oldest eateries, which serves South Indian tasty items, between Matunga and Dadar. Small shop but the delicacies attract good amount of food lovers.
Hard to find a seat, but if you do, it's gonna be great. Fast service and you are well taken care of. The people are warm and really fast. You sit based on the number of people and any empty seat can be taken by a stranger if present. A queue is always expected but worth the wait, because it's not expensive yet the taste is great!.A second visit will be a must.

Have been coming here since a while now. The quality has suffered but it is okay. They have kept the prices down throughout these years. Don't get me wrong, the food is good enough. Perhaps the hygiene could be improved a bit. The ambience remains from yesteryears as the place has been kept intact. Tables are on sharing basis and food is served quickly. This is for those quick south indian bites or a cup of coffee. The place is mostly crowded and it might be a while till one gets a table.
