What I ordered:
Asparagus Tempura Roll : If you know me you know how much I love my sushi. Sticking to basics with this asparagus tempura roll, served with a side of wasabi mayo. Not a bad preparation, but have definitely had better before.
⭐⭐⭐⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Pan Fried Vegetable Gyoza : Juicy on the inside, crispy and golden brown on the outside, this pan fried dumpling is a great appetizer option. Pair it with their drool worthy chili oil - some of the best I’ve had!
⭐⭐⭐⭐️⭐️⠀⠀⠀

Firecracker Rice with Vegetables in Chili Black Bean Sauce : A medley of vegetables in chili black bean sauce pairs perfectly with their Firecracker Rice - tossed in their MUST TRY chili oil. The combination sounds spicy but was actually great blend of subtle Asian flavors. ⠀
⭐⭐⭐️⭐️⭐⠀⠀⠀

⁣Jade & Cranberry Kiss : Jade - muddled basil, star anise, black pepper, sea salt and lime. Not overtly sweet and Flavour Ed perfectly with strong hints of basil. Cranberry Kiss - a simple cranberry juice with mint and lime juice. A great option for those craving a sweet drink.
⭐⭐⭐⭐️⭐️
Tip: Book through @Eazydiner and get one mocktail free per person.

Located on main hill road, House of Mandarin is hard to miss, The food at House of Mandarin—it lives up to its promise of ‘So Chinese!’ I had visited the restaurant to try their limited time special Chinese New Year menu which will be served till 11 February. This menu has some handpicked dishes which are not available in the regular one. From the Chinese New Year menu, I loved the Wild Mushrrom Dumpling, Fujian Fried Rice with black mushroom, freshwater chestnut & asparagus, and the classic roast chicken wit pok choy, black mushroom &oyster sauce.  The regular menu options are nicely balanced for both vegetarians and nonvegetarians. From the regular menu, my favorites are Spicy Crabmeat Soup, Aromatic Crispy Duck, Crispy Prawn Cheung Fun, Truffle and Eddame Dumpling and the Pink Rice Avocado Roll.

The overall service was excellent and the suggestions made by the staff wre on point. They were attentive and proactive.

The Sassy Spoon has given way to this chic Chinese restaurant from the same group spearheaded by Rachel Goenka. The simple but elegant décor exudes an old-world charm that is instantly comforting. The menu showcases contemporary Chinese food. The attractive and well-lit bar at the farthest end is hard to miss. The menu is varied with ample vegetarian options as well. The clean flavours and fresh ingredients win you over instantly. No dishes here are doused with sauces or unnecessary additives.

This is a good option for Indian Chinese food in the neighborhood. After China gate and royal China vanishing I was left with Jimmy's kitchen and while that has its moments, this place is great for when you want to eat out.

The space: well planned and laid out, looks good for both lunch and dinner plans. They have some plants around the edge which make it look like a garden around the larger restaurant and they have an inner room for private events or additional seating. It is near the sushi counter though.

Food: I loved the prawn appetizer and the tenderloin ginger with soy. I also recommend the crispy lamb. And of course the Darsaan desert. While the drinks were good, they were not really Memorable and so I probably won't order them again and will save my money for the Food. The hakka noodles werent the best - hello Jimmy!- but I did like the burnt garlic rice a good deal

The wait staff: were good with recommendations and providing alternatives for us and they also checked in on us during the meal which was a nice touch.

I'll be back!

Remember Sassy Spoon? Everyone's favourite cafe tucked in the corner of Hill Road, Bandra closed down a while ago. But was soon replaced by House of Mandarin, created by the same people behind Sassy Spoon. With quirky interiors, serenading walls, wooden partitions, and handmade murals surely match up to the benchmark set by its predecessor. The menu over here sticks to Mandarin cuisine, tracing back to Beijing

It's definitely a place that can put you in a happy food coma 😊 We ( 3 friends) headed for a leisurely lunch and tried the Monday-Friday set lunch 6 course meal that was full of choices. We tried the sweet corn soup, chicken & prawn sui mai (4 pieces per person) which was heavenly, chicken dumping, prawn dumpling, duck fried rolls, fried rice, stir fried noodles, sliced fish in red chilli onion and spring onion, tenderloin with ginger and spring onion and chicken in black bean sauce.
All of which we enjoyed over 2 hours of great ambience and excellent service by a friendly staff.
To end our lunch on a sweet note we ordered sticky toffee pudding which is quite a treat, molten chocolate steam bun which i particularly loved - it's a burst of dark chocolate in your mouth, and fried honey noodles.
House of Mandarin is a definite recommendation for any foodie.
Cheers!

House of Mandarin is located on the main Hill Road Bandra West and it is easy to find. They have one more outlet which is located in Powai.

House of Mandarin is homage to the glorious
ancestry of Chinese food in India. Mandarin is a language and culture however it also represents cuisine that originates from the royal courts of China comprising of mild spices, colourful vegetables, delicate meats and rice, to create a medley of colors, textures, aromas and flavours.

The restaurant is decent in size with multiple seating sections available. The overall ambiance have nice rustic feel with a lot of wooden elements used. The bar looks nice and the lightings done using Chinese lanterns and wooden chandeliers looks stunning. The seatings are comfortable and the options are great for all size of groups.

They specialise in Chinese cuisine and they serve Sushi as well. I loved the compact selection of dishes as the menu doesn't feel crowded and you don't get confused. Options are nicely balanced for both vegetarians and non vegetarians. Prices are at par with similar type of brands and the quantity served is satisfactory.

I went here for dinner to try their limited time special Chinese New Year menu which will be served till 11 February. This menu have some handpicked dishes which are not available in the regular one. Its precise and doesn't have too many options still I loved the variety.

The overall dinner service was decent as table service by Staff David & Captain Roshan was nice as they were attentive and proactive. Also special thanks to Assistant Manager Shankar who made sure we had a nice meal. However the kitchen service was smooth till the appetizers but they took too much of time for mains and it was very annoying for us.

What We Had -
APPETIZERS~
Wild Mushroom Dumplings.
Chicken & Mushroom Dumplings.
Black Pepper Prawns Dumplings.
I must say this was one of the best dimsum experience that I have had after eating at so many places. The thin covering and generous tasty filling was outstanding for all the three dumplings. The creamy mushroom, the juicy chicken and the fresh prawns with black pepper tasted outstanding and we loved eating them.

MAINS~
Fujian Veg Fried Rice with Black & Fresh Mushroom, Water Chestnut & Asparagus -
Looked stunning and tasted good. Stir fried rice topped with mushrooms, water chestnuts and asparagus with thick soy based bean sauce tasted brilliant. Loved the light flavours and crunch of the chestnuts.

Classic Roast Chicken with Pok Choy, Black Mushroom & Oyster Sauce -
Roast chicken with little skin on it with pok choy, mushrooms and oyster sauce tasted decent. The chicken pieces were huge and lacked the consistency in roasting process but loved the mushrooms and more sauce was needed here.

DESSERTS~
Lemongrass Choux with Caramel Sauce & Vanilla Ice Cream -
Outstanding dessert as all the elements went really well with each other. The light flavours of lemongrass with caramel sauce as base and macaroons tasted perfect.

MOCKTAILS~
Tian Wen -
Made with orange & pineapple juice, grenadine syrup, little of lime juice plus salted rim tasted great.

Green Xianmu -
Made with kiwi crush, apple & lime juice tasted perfect as loved the kiwi here.

So the meal at House of Mandarin was great as the limited time menu have some nice options to choose from. The service needs little improvement rest everything was great. Therefore do visit this place.

This place was a saviour in the middle extreme hunger and post horrible service at a nearby restaurant. You know there are times when you just want to have good, comfort Chinese food or just food that makes you happy high? This is place does it all. The ambience was good but the food was 10x of that. Everything we ordered (what 2 people could fit in their elastic stomach) was just so so good. I am literally on my way to have a good nap. The staff were extremely polite and courteous. Shankar, who serviced us, was kind enough to offer us few pieces of their brownie to taste after we said we couldn’t eat anything more. We left feeling like our day is finally made and with future plans to come back to this place soon.Thank you HoM.

I went here for a Saturday lunch with a friend. She was almost an hour late, and I was nursing a beer but the staff was quite patient with me.

Once she came, we decided to do an appetiser-meal. We ordered the honey lotus stem, the wok fried chicken, and a couple of the dim sums. Everything was quite delicious.

The staff was polite, attentive and prompt. The ambience was okay, and the music got a tad loud sometimes. The bill for a few beers and the 4 appetisers came to about 8,000 which I found was quite steep given the positioning of the restaurant, the staff quality and the ambience. I would have expected something in the 5k range given that we were drinking coronas.

Anyway, nothing to complain about as such because the food was decent. I might come here again if someone else is treating! 😀😀

@sweetannu and I were at house of mandarin for a hearty delicious meal and some R&R and were in for a ball of a time if we may say so.
For the food, we opted for the sesame and poora to crisps which were the finest version of sesame roasts that we have ever had and turned out to be one of my favourite parts of the entire mea. The turnip cakes were brilliant too and not very spicy. The cream corn cakes were loved by annu aunty.
The mandarin special rice in lotus root had generous amounts of water chestnuts added and the Kung pao potato was a very pleasant accompaniment for this. The cooking of the rice and serving in a lotus roof made the experience worthwhile.
The 7 textures of chocolate for dessert were also loved. And the baileys and kahlua cocktail truly was the star!

We visited House of Mandarin last night to celebrate Chinese New Year & welcomed the Year Of The Rat!

We started off with some delicate Dimsum & really enjoyed the Pepper Prawn ones. The Chicken & Mushroom ones were nice too especially when paired with their Chilli Oil.

For our mains, we went with the Fujian Mushroom and Water Chestnut Rice & Roast Chicken, both flavoured similarly but very hearty and comforting.

We ended off with a Lemongrass Choux which we liked some elements of.

The CNY menu is on till the 11th of Feb so make the most of it!

House of Mandarin is a Chinese restaurant located on the bustling street – Hill Road in Bandra West. They have an indoor as well as an outdoor seating area with a seating capacity of 100. Wooden partitions, the hand-painted murals by local artists depicting glimpses of the Chinese culture, dim lighting and wooden and gold Chinese trellises lend an oriental charm and that peaceful feeling.

A special mention of Mr. Shankar who was kind, polite, friendly and courteous. He ensured that our meal was going good.

Moving on to the food and drinks, here’s what we tried:

1) The Mandarin – A blend of muddled orange, basil, vodka and triple sec. Lovely citrus-y notes in every sip and uber refreshing.

2) Tropical Sunrise – A mix of pineapple juice, orange juice, lime juice and grenadine syrup. Tart and citrus-y notes, however, it could have done with a sweet addition to balance the tartness.

3) Seafood Coriander Soup – We had actually called for the Spicy Crabmeat soup since it is their signature soup and we love seafood, however, we were sad to hear that it was unavailable. Instead, we tried the seafood coriander soup. Similar to a sweet corn soup, with seafood (prawns and calamari rings) and coriander. It really warmed us up and tasted good.

4) Turnip Cake with Burnt Garlic & Scallions – Cubes of turnip cakes topped off with crunchy and delicious fried burnt garlic pieces, scallions and chillies. Hands down, this was absolutely delicious! Crisp on the outside, soft and warm on the outside. Must try! Highly recommended.

5) Crispy Duck Spring Roll – Crispy spring rolls filled with shredded duck meat. It was served with a sweet and spicy sauce. Our server also gave us a thick and delicious sweet plum sauce that paired perfectly with the spring rolls. Tasted good.

6) Salt & Pepper Prawns – Deep-fried butterflied prawns topped with garlic, scallions, onions, chillies. We liked the fact that the prawns weren’t oily and on the whole, this dish tasted good.

7) Chicken & Chilli Oil Dumplings – Warm and comforting chicken and chilli oil dumplings. The filling was delicious and melted in the mouth. Must pair it with the chilli oil.

8) Crispy Prawn Cheung Fun – A thin and delicate rice paper roll filled with crispy prawns. Could have been better seasoned and lacked flavour. Tasted average, nothing much to rave about.

9) Belgian Chocolate & Mandarin Dome with Cointreau – The presentation of this dessert wasn’t very good and can certainly be improved upon. Nevertheless, the Belgian chocolate dome was rich and indulgent. The sweetness was well balanced out by the tartness of the mandarin segment.

On the whole, we will certainly visit again to give this place another try!

Neat and clean.
We had soup, fried rice, veg in soya garlic sauce. The vegetable had less gravy so when we told the waiter he gladly got us some gravy. That was nice of him.

Main Course - Egg White and Chicken Fried Rice (Outstanding), Chicken in Red Chilli Oil and Black Bean Sauce (Mildly spicy, good to accompany the Fried Rice). I honestly think that I can eat Dimsums every day of my life! Like seriously... I just never get enough of them!

If you have the #dimsum addiction syndrome too, well, don't go to a rehab just yet 😝

Why? Cos I have found another place in the city for some beautiful Dimsums and more!

@houseofmandarin in bandra is now newly revamped and back in business! While the place is revamped, the goodness of the food has just improved here!

These #edmametruffle Dimsums were everything that you would want your Dimsum to be 😍😍

But it's not only about Dimsums. They also.have some.other delicious stuff that you should definitely try!

The Cheung Fun and the Turnip Cake is excellent and so are the Salt n Pepper Prawns.

Skip the dessert... concentrate on the food and you will be sorted.

Must visit.

A fine dining place, at the corner opposite American express bakery, it has replaced Sassy spoon which replaced Mocha Mojo which replaced Sherlock Holmes(hahaha, I do know my Bandra restaurants). One reviewer called it a cross between Raju Chinese cartwallah and Yautcha!! Ouch!

I have tried from here:

Turnip cake with burnt garlic and scallions
- wow, their best dish and good quantity too, if you try only one thing from here get this.

Tenderloin in black pepper sauce
- quantity is what defines this place, another good dish, and quantity is of meat, not packed with capsicum.

Sliced pork in Schezwan sauce
- another winner, good quality meat

Crispy lamb
- a good one, can try

Crispy butterfly prawns
- nothing great, can skip

Molten chocolate steamed buns
- arrived fresh and warm, try this

Banana Toffee
- lots of pieces of banana, and 3 solid scoops of fantastic homemade ice cream.

Chocolate fudge
- they give this as after meal, pretty good, they should consider retailing this also
Packaging: good
Quantity: have to mention this here, no 'small plates' in this place
Pricing: a little expensive but worth it

Went to the House of Mandarin last week for dinner, for the first time, and was delighted with the food. The edamame and truffle dumplings and the turnip cakes were excellent. They are definitely a must-have. The firecracker rice was a good suggestion by the server but what made the entire experience even more memorable is that the server saw that we hadn't eaten much of the red snapper in chilli sauce and came up to ask if we didn't like the dish. When we said that the fish was slightly smelly (according to us), he promptly picked it up and did not charge us for it. We hadn't even complained! His attentive service and hospitality made the experience very special. Since it was pouring and we left in a hurry, I missed asking him for his name, unfortunately.

The appetizers were to die for. Especially the chef reccomended Turnip Cake. Something I had never had before. Good blend of turnips, chillies, garlic. Really flavoursome. The mushroom bun was tasteful with aromatic flavours. The fire cracker rice was delicious. So was the spicy mapo tofu. All in all a brilliant place. Loved the food every "bite"

The drinks we ordered especially the Sol Cooler - spicy khatta meetha was something very different - out of the box.
Highly recommended by me. Also if you don't want to eat a dessert after a heavy meal then they serve tiny portions of mini light brownies which satiate every bit of your sugar cravings.

The seven layers chocolate & hazelnut was foodgasmic.

A must-visit place for authentic veg and non-veg Chinese dishes along a range of drinks, cocktails and mocktails. Tried Sushi and dumplings and some Japanese dishes. Staff is courteous & attentive. Ambience is inviting. Valet parking available. I tried eating using the chopsticks provided by them and it was fun for a first timer. Overall a good dinning experience

Quiet, peaceful restaurant serving good food with a lovely service. Spacious, Chinese lights set up the decor with the lovely aroma of indo-Chinese food filling up the space. Menu has a wide variety of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options as well as sushi. We had chicken dumplings in chili oil which were average, prawns in chili and black bean sauce and firecracker rice which was quite good, just would have liked bit more gravy in the prawns. Good selection of drinks, cocktails and mocktails as well though this time we did not opt for any. The food is nice, and while I did not find anything extravagant but delicious. The staff is knowledgable and warm and can help decide best things to pick.

I think this place just made our day after a long covid time. Our love for authentic Chinese is pure and this place made us fall in love with it Just more. Very family friendly place, Ambiance and ppl. We went when there is Chinese New Year menu going on along with the Sushi and Sake festival. It was such a treat to be here. Their mocktails are very good especially cocktails like whiskey sour and LIIT which are great to start the evening with. We tried their dimsums ofcourse - The chicken Mushroom and The Prawn Tempura. The crispy prawn Chung Fun with their soy sauce just had our heart...Chicken and we were in awe of the Chicken Prawn SuMai with their chilli sauce. The best one that we have had yet is the Steamed Prawns with Burnt Garlic and it's one of the best Asian dishes we have ever had till date we must say, the prawns placed so beautifully in the lake of soy chilli broth... We also tried their purple rice served with spring onion and chilli lamb and chicken...such a gorgeously appetizing dish and quantity was also so generous ! Must visit place for Chinese food lovers for sure !!

A very standard fair and overall a solid experience. This is the restaurant you go to,if you are craving Asian cuisine and do not want to experiment and think much. We only had the honey glazed lotus stem, Silk tofu black bean and the chicken in Soy chilli all were fine but nothing extraordinary . The ambience is just fine, tables are well spaced in the outside area. The staff is courteous and the service is quick. The pricing is just fine neither too expensive but not very cheap also. We were three , had one appetiser and 2 main dishes , we did have 4 30ml whisky. The total bill was 4.5K which is par for the course. Overall experience ; just fine.

The food is a Indian-Chinese as can be. Oodles of nostalgia with the chilly chicken, egg fried rice, kung pao chicken and banana toffee. The cocktails are good. The service is incredibly slow, which isn't bad if you have great company at your table, but frustrating otherwise.

29th June was my sister in law’s birthday and her 2 sons treated us to a dinner here. Choice of restaurant was my son’s as he LOVES the Chinese food and personal attention here. He’s a frequent visitor here and knows a few of the staff by their names. AND my son is a foodie. Small appetite but with something to munch at regular intervals. The food was good. The chicken and vegetables broth was bland as it should be. The other 2 soups hot and sour, and spicy crab meat soup were spicy and delicious. I was down with cold and cough, so the chicken broth minus the spice or corn slurry was good for me. For starters, we had fried and crunchy spring rolls with crispy duck meat as filling. This was new for me and I liked it. Have been having their aromatic crispy duck with pancakes and vegetables juliennes served with their spicy sauce. The concept of naming your own rolls in itself is so relaxing and enjoyable. Then we had sesame prawns toast. Although these were fried, it didn’t feel sticky or oily. And yes, they were tasty. I had these after a LONG time, so I guess I enjoyed them the most. We also called for pan fried chicken noodles. Yet again, they were crispy and my son was served the best portion. The portions of the food is good enough and most of us were pretty full also. So for the main course, we just ordered the beef tenderloin in black pepper sauce and egg fried rice to go with it. You should try their Pan fried chicken gyoza dim-sums, and Truffle and Edamame dumplings too. Turnip cake is something else that you can try. No, they are not sweet. They are savoury and delicious. By the end of the celebration, we were all stuffed with happiness and stomach full too. The ambiance is good. Many restaurants and cafés have been here at some point of time in the past, but they have failed to get so successful. But this place has managed to sustain here for a long time now. Just proves that they are doing good in spite of the recent pandemic. Ek trip toh banta hi hain!

As I wind down my visit to Mumbai, I had to try some authentic Chinese Cuisine and House of Mandarin, which is where I found it. The ambiance is lovely. The food was amazing, and you got your money's worth. Moreover, it was International Women's Day, and the mocktails were on the house.

Love the ambience and the food. Slightly on the expensive side. Dinner for 2 could be about 3k. Ask for gravy with the main dishes, they are on the drier side like starters.
