|| Bhojohori Manna ||

The road to Bengali Cuisine is near now... “Bhojohori Manna, the perfect destination for Bengali delicacies at pocket friendly prices. This place serves some authentic Bengali food items and the go-to-place for all the Bengalis staying in Mumbai. Bhojohori Manna happens to my favourite place whenever I crave for some authentic Bengali dishes.

Bengali cuisines are pride of Kolkata as it shows we Bengalis love to have authentic Bengali food wherever we go. “Bhojohori Manna” is one such restaurant which serves the authentic Bengali cuisines and delicacies from Kolkata for the bongs staying in Mumbai as well 🤗 Bhojohori Manna has two outlets in Mumbai, one in Andheri and another one in Chembur. Previously I have visited their Chembur outlet so this time I had a catch-up with a friend who visited Mumbai for a week, so I visited the Andheri outlet of Bhojohori Manna with my friend for proper Bengali lunch.

📍 Location: This outlet of Bhojohori Manna is near to Om Heera Panna Mall, Oshiwara, Andheri West. It is 30-35 minute's walking distance from Andheri Railway Station, West Mumbai.

▶ Ambiance/ Service: Speaking of Ambience, this place has a perfect soothing ambience for lunch and dinner with family and friends with some good quality Bengali food. This outlet is big enough compared to Chembur outlet. This outlet has a seating capacity of 30-35 people at go. The decor of the place is nice yet simple like all other authentic Bengali resturants. The Bengali restaurants are always Nostalgia place for all the bongs. It is a nice place with Bengali music playing in the background backed up with good well informed and helpful Bengalis attendants. Service of the place was prompt and perfect.

▶ Now coming to food and drinks of course. This place has nice menu with lots of varieties in Bengali cuisine and Thalis. So, we opted for the following items from the menu during the recent visit to this place 👉

❤ Food (Starters)🍗
⚜️ Maccher Chop- A typical evening snacks for the bongs. A crumb fried fish chop.
⚜️ Dimer Devil- A perfect Bengali variation of the fried devilled eggs. Most of the Bengalis have this Dimer devil with a bowl of puffed rice during the evening hours.

❤ Main Course 😋
🔸 Moving on to the Main Course:

⚜️ Rice (Dehradun)- Normal rice that we generally have at home.
⚜️ Dab Chingri- Personally, I love to have chingri so much that whenever I visit a Bengali restaurant for lunch, I generally do not miss out on Dab Chingri. This Dab Chingri was amazing in taste (Recommended).
⚜️ Luchi- It is one my favourite thing for all the bongs. We can have anything with hot luchis anytime. This time I tried it with the Mutton Dakbangla. This was a heavenly combination for the Bengalis.
⚜️ Mutton Dakbangla-This is another must try out item from their menu! When it was combined with hot luchi then it was just too Good in taste!

❤ Desserts 😍

🔸 Lastly, the desserts complete the heavy Bengali lunch with a sweet note:

⚜️ Mishti Doi- The perfect dessert for all Bengalis to have after a heavy lunch like this.

Starting from the starters to desserts everything was perfect. All the items that we tried from the menu were delicious and tasty and they give very good quantity.

💰 Pocket pinch: - Pinch for two is ₹ 700- ₹ 800 for a great experience.

▶ Overall: - Overall, it was lovely experience for me whenever I visit this place for authentic Bengali cuisine. Recommended place to all that should try this place out whenever you are craving some good authentic Bengali food in Mumbai 😊

Went for lunch with my wife. Thank God, one table was immediately allotted inspite of Sunday today. It was my first visit. We were guided by the server to select the dish. Enjoyed bhetki fried fish, pabda fish gravy, with steam rice. Devil's egg was too good. Finished our lunch with mishtidoi. Highly recommended for sea food lovers.

This one is probably the biggest of all the BM outlets. Have ample eating space: inside as well as outside. Coming to food, we ordered a combo of mochar chop, alu dom and motorshutir kochuri. Alu dom was delicious but the kochuri was a bit oily. Then we complemented it with sweet polao and mutton dakbunglow. Mutton dakbunglow has been my fav. over the mutton kosha. Only dissapointment was that they didn't had the nolen gurer ice cream. Other wise well worth was the bengali food trip to Mecca!

Bengali's are known for fish and the maccher chop (fish chop) here is exceptional loved the taste of this fish.
Not just the fish but the egg mutton roll was delectable as well and is a must try.
The quantitiy of the food was so amazing that I was already full to order the main course.
But I did order steamed prawns the rich coriander flavour of the prawns was a great end to an amazing meal.

The best place to try out some brilliant Bengal food can be found over here and it's like the best you can found in Mumbai. Some of the dishes I ordered from here was
1) Dimer Devil- It's basically Stuffed Eggs Chop and it's a Bengali variation of devilled eggs.
2)Boneless Balti Chicken- It is basically a curry type dish with chicken serves boneless
3)Matar Paneer- It's a traditional veg dish served with herbs and spices.
So it was a pleasant experience to order from here. Do try it.

This place is perhaps one of the most famous locations for Bengali Cuisine. We went here for a Saturday dinner.
Ambience: It is a small but cozy place, the ambience was good, nothing outstanding but nothing worth complaining. (4/5)
Service: The service was excellent, the server helped us with the options & great suggestions. The order didn't take a lot of time to arrive. (5/5)
Food: We ordered quite a few dishes starting from starters to main courses. While most of the vegetarian dishes were great, I found there is some scope of improvement in the non-veg dishes. These can be made a little more authentic. (4/5)

Since while reviewing I emphasize the taste as the primary driver, overall rating is 4.

Visited this outlet today. After visiting one of the outlets in Kolkata, we always have been a big fan of their food. So today we decided to try it in Mumbai too. This outlet is located in Oshiwara. Its a small cute place and generally it remains crowded. We were lucky enough to get ourselves an empty place. For starters we had Dimer Devil and Aampora Shorbot. Dimer devil was too good. It was big enough Served with mustard chutney. For main course we had rice and doi mach, luchi and kosha mangso. Every item was so mouth watering. The fish served was fresh and the curry was extremely delicious. Even the luchi and kosha mangso was awesome. It had the same taste as other outlets in Kolkata . For desert we had misti doi and rasmallai which was again superb. Everything about this place is awesome. May it be the food, the service or hospitality. The service was extremely fast. Also the manager was very friendly and also gave us complimentary chutney. Lovely experience.

Being a bengali and hailing from kolkata I have visited bhojohori manna many times,in kolkata..This was my first visit here in this outlet, in Mumbai.Last sunday me and my husband visited the place for lunch. We ordered luchi with quintessential cholar dal, bhetki rong puri as a starter..In main course we ordered steam rice, mutton duckbanglow, chingri malaikari and ilish barishali..
Bhetki fry was good, but the cholar dal was very sweet..according to my husband ilish fish was of good quality, but the gravy was mediocre.. Mutton duckbanglow was again extremely sweet... Prawn malaikari was good..though I ordered for medium sized prawns, but they didn't have it.So they gave jumbo prwan , and charged extra for that. That's the major problem with this place,I have always faced, in kolkata too. They don't have everything you want. At the end we had nolen gurer icecream, which was pretty good.overall a decent lunch we had.😊

A few Bengali friends were in town so we searched for a few bengali food joints and finally ended up here at Bhojpuri Manna.

The ambience of this place is okay and not all that great. The sitting and place both are very simple with certain photos of Kolkata's on the walls and some local handloom art on the dining tables.

Coming to the food the friends did all the ordering from mutton cutlet, mutton dakbangla to a few more mutton and fish dishes we wanted to have some Chingdi AKA Prawns but by the time we reached the dish we wanted was over may be because we were late.

The dishes did not disappoint and my friends said they loved the food and remembered Kolkata while having it.

The service was also good and the waiters suggested the various dishes we could order.

I would suggest taking a Bengali friend along make the ordering of the dishes easy 😅

Overall we had a great time with some amazing food and amazing company.

Excellent fish fry!! It was nicely batter fried with no traces of dripping oil... perfectly marinated fillet of bhetki. The chicken and mutton biryani and dak bungla mutton we’re also good. Biryani was quite close to the authentic Kolkata biryani with the quintessential alu and boiled egg. And no better way to end the meal than with the good old nolen gur Icecream which I think was started by Bhojohori. Good food!satisfied our bengali food craving 😊

Bengali food in Mumbai!
With a Bengali colleague at work, a visit to Bhojohari Manna was overdue. So on Mahashivratri four of us headed to the Oshiwara outlet. The name of the restaurant famously came out of song about a chef returning home with his style.
I have eaten at their original Garia outlet in Kolkatta as well as the outlets at Salt Lake City. So the benchmarks were in my mind. Colleague had her own home benchmarks.
At the outset we enjoyed a good home style meal.
Reasonable prices, service was ok. There’s no parking here and the outlet doesn’t offer valet service. It’s a small restaurant designed for the Bengali homesick.
From the extensive menu some dishes weren’t available.
We ordered one Max Thala (Thalas come on ceramic plates and bowls and are vegetarian), a mini thala and added betki curry ( it appeared that the chef had used the shortcut of Kasundi sauce instead of grinding the mustard masala), mutton kosha( excellent) Muri Ghonto Rohu fish (outstanding) begun bhaja ( instead of cutting traditionally as a slice it was cut crown to bottom and burnt- bad choice), Luchi and Cholar dal were excellent, as was Echoar Dalna ( jackfruit curry), the aloo bhaja was just like Parsi Sali - should have been thicker and longer pieces. The meal should have been started with Gandholibo- fragrant lime and didn’t - and the manager admitted the mistake. Shukto was good. And the Payesh to end the meal was superb.
All in all this is a good Bengali meal and is recommended. Even the vegetarians like me can enjoy.

I just came back after having dinner now. I am from Kolkata and have tasted food from their Kolkata outlet as well. But the outlet of Andheri is not sophisticated like Kolkata. Ambience is not that good. It looks like any small restaurant. Ive ordered Mutton Cutlet, Rice, Dal, alu bhaja, Dhoka, Katla Kaliya and Mutton Dukbunglow.
I wanted to have Dab Chingri. Before going there Ive called and asked whether they have Dab chigri available or not, they said they have it but even after reaching there within 30 mints, they were unable to serve. (Its finished, that's what they said). Many dish was not available as we reached at 10pm.
Food is good. I am very satisfied with the quality, quantity of the food. But the taste of Mutton Dukbunglow is different what we have in Kolkata.

Being a Bengali out of Bengal, Bengali cuisine was beckoning me. So I went to this place and it didn't disappoint me but what disappointed me was how cut throat the business has become. There is a new restaurant beside it which was well lit and clear entrance, whereas the entrance of Bhojohori Manna was blocked by cars and bikes of visitors of the other restaurant. Anyway the place was understandably empty but the staff was good. The food was needless to say great.

Ambiance and Service(4/5):
Located in one of the tiny Lanes in Oshiwara, it's not very prominently visible off the street. It's a well lit, quaint restaurant with around 5-6 tables. The waiters are well versed with Bengali, and very helpful to decide which dish to order. Luckily for us, we had a Bengali Friend who made the choices after a discussion with the waiters.

Food(4/5):
The food is extremely homely, good portion size and delicious served with mustard chutney. We ordered the following:
Starters:
-Prawn Kabiraji: Fried egg over a prawn cutlet With mustard sauce
-Bhetki fry: Fish Fry, melts in your mouth and served with lemon and onions.

Main course:
- Luchi: This is basically Puri.
- Koraishutir Kochuri: Puri stuffed with green peas, you barely get the taste of the peas though.
-Bhetki Paturi: Fish wrapped in banana leaf and steamed
-Murgir Jhol: Chicken Gravy, tomato and oil based. The excess oil makes it even more tasty!
-Mutton kosha: Similar to Murgir Jhol, only with Mutton.

Desserts:
-Patishopta: Sweet Preparation of Milk, similar to pedha, wrapped in a sweet maida crepe.
-Nolen gur ice-cream: Ice Cream made of Jaggery, super delicious.
-Mishti doi: Usual, but tasty nevertheless

Value for Money (4/5):
The food is top notch in quality and taste, great place to eat homely food!

Overall Rating- Yay!

After having Food from peetuk, we tried another bengali food outlet that was bhojhohari manna.
It's a small outlet serving affordable and tasty bengali food..
One thing to note.. That this people transport the prepared food all the way from Kolkata (twice a week) and keep it in the deep freezed conditions and then it's fried /fully cooked and served..
After hearing this from the staff I had a doubt whether the fish will be fresh, but after having the food the doubt was cleared and it was fresh and tasty!!..
We had ordered -
Chicken kosha n luchi - it was tasty but very oily and sweet!!.. Yeah it was very sweet, for the first time I had so much sweet chicken!..

Hilsa fish fry- this fish was good, but has many little and thin bones, so have to be careful while eating and one piece costed around 400 rs!!.. So it was not worth at all

Prawns malai curry - this curry was heavenly, I just loved the flavors and taste it had.

Chicken cutlet coated with fried egg- this cutlet tasted little sour and was not that appealing for me.

Payesh- it was very tasty. It's basically a rice kheer but had nice and different taste.

Roshogulla - super soft and tasty.

Patisapta- this sweet is rarely found in any bengali restaurants and you will get it here.. It was very tasty, made from coconut and khoya and jaggery /sugar. We were lucky enough as we got the last one piece which was available with the restaurant.

We opted for the non vegetarian Thali that consisted of: Bhetki maccher kohl, shorshey ilish (hilsa fish in mustard sauce), aamer chutney (mango chutney), mutton dakbangla, phoolkopi chola dal, muri ghonto (sabzi made out of fish head and potato), bashanti pulao and bhaat.

For dessert, they had mishti paan and langcha (a type of gulaab jamun)

The mutton with the bashanti pulao was pure love. And we were SO full, we honestly had a hard time walking! the food was authentic and OUT OF THIS WORLD.

Do visit this place, it has multiple outlets across the city. Trust us, you wont regret it.

We landed at Bhojohari Manna Oshiwara with a major yearning for Bong food. Nothing to critique there really. Everything was perfect. Lovely food...we tried the Ilich mustard with rice and Doi Mangsho with Parota. The staff was also very friendly and service was very quick. Sadly the Gurer ice cream was already over. But that’s a good excuse to visit this place again 😎

Looking for authentic bengali food that reminds you of your Ma and Dida’s home cooked delicacies that you so miss having, then this is a place for all your nostalgia and eating one morsel of shorshe bhetki and cholar dal will transport you and make you reminisce those happy memories.
Must have is the Thali with flavours hitting your tastebuds and complement it with nonveg shorshe bhetki. The payesh and date chutney that comes in the thali completely satiates the sweet tooth.
You need to completely disregard the frills which is obviously absent and concentrate on the taste. It is definitely value for money

So being an Assamese I am by heart very close to bengali food. The flavour mustard, the mild sweetness in the chicken curry, the slurpping of the tomato chutney, all add up to my life. I have been to this place many times but during durga pooja its special. Try the thali with pulao, chingri, and chicken dakbangla. Definitly gonna tickle you taste buds. Oh wait how can I forget hilsa in mustard.

Authentic Bengali food. Ordered bhetki fry, maxi thala, puris and some arabi prawns dish. All were good in taste. Bhetki fry and prawns dish were great. Comfortable sitting place and courteous staff. Missed out on the desserts though since they were over.

One of the most popular eatouts for the bongs! The place certainly brings to you delicious Bengali food. But the flip side is, cost is quite higher than the quality and quantity of food they provide. You will get almost of the bong food you'd crave for.

Located in a corner this place boasts about their cultural influenced food. Curious me I reached here undecided with few friends to try out Bengali culinary. Oh I think we not just ate ...we over ate. Please ask for manager incase it's your first time to try Bengali food. Service is good. They have open air and AC closed door too. Do try their mustard sauce ...out of world

Nice place to enjoy Bengali dishes, but bit overpriced and if you're a Bengali and visited here from West Bengal, you won't find the food as tasty as over there. All foods in the menu are not available all the time. Keeping aside the price and comparison, it's a nice place to hang out and enjoy bong dishes. If you're ok with money, you'll definitely enjoy the food.

I am a Bong and I simply love any place that serves good food and more if it's Bengali cuisine. So if a Bong recommends a place then it's always worth trying it out and to everyone who reads this I would encourage certainly to try out this place atleast once. I ain't suggesting any food as the list of good food available here is quite lengthy. But the ones serving here are quite friendly and would help you to choose the right dishes and in right proportion as well!! So take yourself and anyone who enjoys good food to this joint and you won't be disappointed... Bon Appetite !!

Fantastic dining experience. My first taste of Bengali food and it was worth waiting for. Tried mangshor chop, mutton kabiraji cutlet, kosha mangsho with laccha paratha and finished with notun gurer ice cream. What lacks in quantity makes up in taste...

If you are looking for authentic bengali food and especially a variety of fishes, this is the place to go. Easy to find in the lane next to Puri hotel would do better to advertise though. The service was a little laid back but in a place where you have gone to enjoy the break, count that in as a chance to relax. The interiors are clean and standard, don't expect Oh Calcutta ambience but food can be a fitting rival.

One the better Bengali Food Joints in Mumbai. Originally the restaurant started in Kolkata. This is their first outlet in Mumbai. I have been frequenting this place for the last 3 years. Depending on the chef, food quality has swung between Brilliant to Pathetic. My last 2 visits have been good. Guess they now have got back a good Chef at this joint. Price: Value for money
