We tried two different kinds of dosas from the various options offered by their menu and found them decent. The ambience was quite nice and complemented the meal.
We took cheese dosa for 140₹, Chocolate dosa for 180₹,chole bathure for 250 and sizzler. Ambiance and service was good. Want to try south Indian food check out here in vinnakam vihar.

Recently I came across this place near girgam. They serve delicious south Indian cuisine. Sambhar I had here was one of the best sambhar I had till date.

Hi friends I want to share my good experience at this joint where you get all kinds of food like south Indian, Chinese, Mexican, Italian, and Indian food. It is a very good vegetarian place to chill out. I tried their dosas which was crispy and the sambar was delicious with pumpkin and drumsticks in it and the coconut chutney was also great. Then we tried their idlis which were nice and soft. We tried their stuffed mushrooms which was amazing. Then we tried their lasooni paalak which was good and then we tried their daal makhni, and paneer tikka masala which was amazing. The aloo parathas were also nice and masaledar. The pindi channa was also great. The vegetable raita was fresh. The moong daal halwa was good. The ambience is nice and well lit and the staff is friendly and helpful in letting us choose from the menu. It's a pocket friendly place and a must visit for all vegetarians.

This place is located just on the Opera House Signal, people with cars and SUVs, god help you. It serves quite radically deliciously South Indian food, but the general notion is its there, still not there. What I mean is the food is not completely authentic, it’s way norther than the South Indian outlets of matunga. We went for a breakfast, so really cannot comment on the heavier dishes, but really a medu Wada or a dosa is enough a data to get a pulse of the restaurant, isn’t it ? This place is expensive, no surprise it’s frequented by the gujju townies. My Verdict is if you keep your expectations average, this is a good place for South Indian food :)

Best place to have south indian food, i had Kerala malai idli was yum with coconut milk marinated with idli and uttappam was pure soft with butter worth the price.
This is my favourite place in town now. Not only do they have a great filter coffee but their South Indian cuisine is simply amazing. They have gone beyond Idli and Dosas and got some Mangalorean cuisine. My favourite is Mushroom Gassi with Neer Dosa, even the Vegetable stew is good.
My experience at vanakam vihar cannot be doubled. I crave for dosas and we decided to try vanakam vihar. The ambience sophisticated. On enquiring the staff asked us to try the chilli cheese garlic dosa and to my delight it was the bestest dosa i must have ever ever had. It was so amazing that we reodered it and once it got over again ordered it. We also ordered the paper dosa which was sidelined by the chilli cheese garlic dosa which surely had the xfactor.

Love love this place! Authentic South Indian food. Have been here thrice now. Always go back for Appams with the coconut curry! This place has grown popular in a short span of time due to its authentic and quality food and prime location.
The name of this place has an unsaid welcome and warm greetings,
However when I visited this place the staff was in a hurry to show us the way out from the beginning itself.
After a stroll at marine drive at around 10:45 p.m we reached here and they repeatedly kept reminding us the closing time of the restaurant.
Also one weird thing about this restaurant is that they won’t serve anything on the plates. Be it sizzler or anything else.
The ambience is well lit and is decent with 2 floors and has sufficient sitting.

Went there for family dinner, place has nice ambience. It offers you wide variety in south Indian cuisine. I would highly recommend ordering 'Thalaiva idli', it is absolutely delicious.'Rajni goes wild' is a stuffed dosa, quantity is sufficient for a person. Plakkad chettinad dosa is a bit spicy stuffed dosa. Their tomato rasam and pepper rasam are really good, do try! I finished my meal with filter coffee. Service is quick and staff is friendly. Overall experience was great.

What really impressed me was their service. Very prompt and quick!! We had the most secluded table in the corner. Still there was not a single glitch on service. There is not just one waiter waiting on your table but there team of people. Before we could finish food they would help u with smile asking if we need anything more. Finger bowl to wash hand was ready even before thought of calling for it crosses your mind.! Hats off to the service! Defi worth a visit.

After a lot of failed attempts to visit this place, I finally dropped in for an evening meal. This place is spacious and has a feel good factor. Staff is friendly and service is apt. Though the name sounds like a South Indian speciality joint, they also serve North Indian,Chinese and Continental cuisines. I ordered Mini idlis in gunpowder masala and Medu vada. Unintentionally, I started to compare the food with that at Dakshinayan (my favourite for South Indian fare)
The medu vada was nice but not as great as you get it at Dakshinayan. The gunpowder idlis known as Malagapoddi idlis were delicious. They weren't disappointing at all. The chutneys and sambhar were really nice. I am glad that we have an option now for aunthentic Sounth India fare 😊

A lovely place to start a day with South Indian breakfast ambience is great paper dosa was perfect with thin crust on outside and soft in centre tables were good and not sticky the only thing was not up to the mark was the service late. Well done guys keep up the good work.

Vannakam Vihar...situated in the heart of Bombay and yet it reminds you of the native South India with its authentic delicacies served. The delicacies are retained and served the original way. Do visit this place for a piece of South India in your own city.
We visited this place with our appetising requirement in mind for a full course meal...the soup variants of rasam are mouth watering and are served steaming hot. We had ordered Pepper Rasam and believe me it was worth every sip enjoyed. For starters, it was Mysore Paneer Chilly, Rasam Mini Wada and Harabhara kebab...the harabhara were not that exciting but the other two really pumped us up. The main order comprised of Subzi Hundi, Garlic Nan, Onion Paratha and Sada Roti. I opted for the authentic variant of Mangalorean Ghussi and Appam...I bet we all were licking fingers enjoying this sumptuous meal.
The ambiance and the service is super good and waiting time minimal. The staff is also friendly and well versed with their menu and help customers place good orders. Overall it was a perfect weekend meal for me with my family. Definitely recommend this place for everyone.

South Indian food is an evergreen variety that all and sundry love...South Mumbai's Vanakkam Vihar is one such place...Good ambience and authentic dishes make it interesting. My orders of Dahi Wada and Kanchipuram Idli took little longer than usual to come on the table..the reason being they are freshly made to order...Fair Enough...Madras filter Coffee was the best of the lot...
Honestly, prices are bit steep as compared to other South Indian joints...I would have given four stars to it..but 3 Stars is fine, courtesy value for money.

Food here is very delicious. Staff is very courteous and polite. Recently it was renovated and they improved their ambience a lot. South Indian dishes are it's speciality and I would recommend veg Manchurian too.
A South Indian gets these cravings for home food once in a while and hence we ended up here for a quick south indian dinner.
After some good food and drink at Social a quite (for the stomach) food really helped us.
Simple sober interiors, that's what is expected from a South Indian place. Started off with the Rassam as soup.. nice flavourful spicy portion. There is pepper Rassam also if you are feeling under the weather.
A rava masala dosa comes in next. The dosa nice crisp with tasty filling and some good chutneys and sambar to go with it. Highly recommended dish.
Decided to have just a plain sambar rice as mains with some nice crisp appadam (papads).
Overall good place for South Indian food.

I ate neer dosa with paneer and it was amazingly hot and very tasty, served on a banana plate placed in steel plate with a fried papad.

The rassam won my heart here. Dont miss it. Piping hot idlis the easiest and fastest solution for the hunger while amazing taste. No South Indian meal is complete with Dosa. Here also the dosa is the winner. They have a great variety and spread definitely will go back for more.
Nice and hygienic place. Tried their Thailaiva idli and chettinad idli. Loved both of them. Had the malabari curry with malabari parotta too and it was great.

Excellent south indian option at the corner of opera house restaurant is fully aircondition. previously known as vihar cafe. At the moment they stop serving south indian meal but got option of a la carte north indian as well south indian food along with fresh juices.
