A decent restaurant to try some authentic South Indian food 🥘 at a reasonable price. Firstly, we had to wait for our turn so we waited in the queue for 15-20 minutes. Their service is lil slow as they took sometime to prepare the dosas but the taste was not compromised. The dosas were crisp and the sambhar tasted good. Not too spicy and the appropriate amount of sourness. It was on my bucket list to cover all the famous South Indian joints in Matunga, and it one is well covered. A must try for the crispy dosas and filter coffee ☕️

Dosa is good, rest is okay . After visiting all these south Indian restaurants in and around Matunga, I’d say go to Aryabhavan for Ghee podi idli, Cafe Madras for Tuppa Dosa, Udipi for Masala dosa, chutneys of Aryabhavan are thicker and better, sambhar is best at Cafe Madras, Tomato soup is a refreshing addition at Udipi, Chicori coffee at aryabhavan but one thing to note is Aryabhavan’s service is bad and staff can be arrogant at times. All said and done, I’ll be a regular at all 3 till the time I am living in Mumbai.

It is situated at the Matunga circle. Very close to the Madras cafe. This place is small but at a time group of 20 can accommodate. I heard a lot about this place so finally we decided to try it. All the dosas were good. we tried Maysoor onion Rava masala and masala dosa. It is a little expensive but the taste is worth it. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They do not accept the Cards. (Keep in mind, I had a little difficulty here)

Their rasam vada is extraordinary, in fact the rasam is really good, not too spicy or too grainy. We also ate ate idli, masala dosa, tomato sandwich and sambhar bhat. Raga Dosa was not that good, tasted too chewy. All in all a great tasting place with a very peaceful atmosphere. You can order single idlis here. It’s a favorite of locals.

Coming since childhood. Best known for variety of traditional south indian dosas. Tomato soup and rasam is the best in town, can't get better than here. The service is great and atmosphere is calm. Great choice of ambient music with only instrumental music.

This outlet is loved by many and has a good fan following who swear by Udipi food. Matunga has a never ending list of South Indian joints and this place is nice and has its own identity with the taste. It is definitely on the higher side when it comes to pricing.

It is a very nice place to savour authentic south indian delicacies. Just needs to upgrade a bit on the ambience factor. Also AC on the ground floor main sitting area is not blowing cool air as required. They should immediately replace the current one with a high tonnage unit. Rest everything is good.

If you're a foreigner, do yourself a favor and come eat at that restaurant. This is one of the oldest ones in Mumbai, it serves delicious traditional Southern and Northern Indian food. A lot of locals come eat there, so it can be very crowded. In our case, we got lucky and only had to wait for about 5min, but the waiting time can easily reach 30min-1h. Note that all the other well-rated restaurants will most likely also be full. However, this is 100% worth the wait: the food was some of the best we had in India, at a very affordable price. We got the masala dosa, roti, butter onion rava masala dosa, fried idli, filtered coffee. Everything was excellent!

Pocket friendly prices, a quiet place amidst all the madness of madras cafe, this is our go to place for South Indian food in Matunga. Air conditioned and not being pushed around for eating fast, we totally love coming here. Our pics are Mysore Sada Dosa, Onion Uttapa and Filter Coffee!

Located at Maheshwari Udhyan circle , finding parking here is the most difficult task . This place is known for its toasted club sandwich. Apart from Idli - Dosa, they also serve Puri bhaji and Roti ( no Naan ) and north Indian sabjee options. They have seating for larger groups on the first floor . They do not reserve tables ( first come first serve basis and last order for dinner is at 11 , they don't let people come in post that ) . It's a normal restaurant nothing fancy but it has AC unlike the other Idli Dosa restaurants in Matunga.

The best South Indian thali I have ever had in Mumbai. The speciality about them is that the meal is prepared fresh and hygiene is taken utmost care. Definitely worth it.

Definitely one of the most expensive South Indian restaurants in Matunga but still love coming here again and again. Also only 1 of the few South Indian restaurants which are air conditioned. Ordered for the below items - 1. Rawa Mysore sada dosa 2. Club sandwich Loved both the items. One of the favourites for this place. If visiting do not miss ordering these 2 items atleast.
