Really amazing place. Clean and neat as per their name. This place located besides Dadar railway station. They serves all types of Maharashtrian breakfast and snacks dishes plus lunch thalis.
We ordered their special vada paav and kanda bhaji. Both dishes was so tasty. And also we ordered awala sarbat and Peru icecream.. which was so delicious..
Service was quick. Prices was so affordable. And food was delicious. Too good!!

1- Sabudana Wada - It was okish , felt like it was under cooked a bit.
2- Upvas Thalipeeth - Absolutely Loved it.
3-Piyush - This was good.
Quietness in overcrowded area is a best feature I like about this resturant. Very old family resturant ,batata vada is tastey and authentic in marathi cooking style. Seating is comfortable in size and passage for movement is big in between two tables. The special thing is not a feeling of hurry you experience in this resturant though it's full with people. You get secured type cool feeling as it has a legacy of good attitude of staff and manager.
Coming to the food, as per the tales of the famous misal pav and piyush we tried these out. Misal pav was served in layers of onion, farsan, misal and the most special ingredient that makes it different was mashed potato at the bottom. Misal was a tale told true. 💯
Piyush was something we tried for the first time. Home made shrikhand blended in butter milk and secret spices was a little too sweet for our tooth but was equally delicious.
Mama Kane is hidden gem in Dadar west; it is location opposite to Dadar station western railway, it is an old eatery serving traditional Maharashtrian snacks. I ordered via zomato the delivery was quick, the packing was leak proof. The food was delivery hot at my doorstep.

Dahi vada
There are two pieces of vada in one plate; the vada was soft and soaked in dahi, which was thick and sweeten it was served cold. The dish was yummy.
Sabudana Wada
There are two huge pieces of sabudana wada in one plate. The sabudana vada was perfectly cooked, not chewy nor sticky. The peanuts were fresh, the wada was crispy, there were accompanied with coconut chutney.
Alu wadi
It is traditional Maharashtrian snacks, made with alu (colocasia leaves) and batter of besan and spices and tamarind paste. Preparing this dish is time consuming and requires special skills. The size of alu wadi is big, it is crispy and each bite was full of flavours. It was accompanied with dry garlic chutney (spicy)
More than 100 years old outlet located right when you take the exit from Andheri West. I’m a huge fan of their chai and Misl pav. I’m yet to try their Meal and Sabudaana Khichdi. Will do it next time.

Situated just outside station makes it easily reachable and this offering good variety from snack items to thali.
Their Misal is unique and is must try. So is the Batata Wada.
Note that it is a typical mid range restaurant so
do not expect any unique ambience. However the place is excellent in cleanliness with good clean washbasins.

Reached at around 3pm. Ordered a mini lunch which includes 5 puris , 1 dal , 1 vegatable some rice and pickle. Quick service and quite cost effective. If you are near Dadar station west do visit.

Being a Kane myself, have heard of this place from my teenage and finally got the chance to visit the place 🔥❤️ as the name goes, they indeed have a Clean Restaurant with typical Instructions and disciplined staff to serve. Taste of the Vada Paav was amazing and so was the size. The only issue is its location as not everyone would be okay with the kind of crowd it has (not inside the hotel but around the hotel). An outlet that serves you proper Maharashtrian food, Mama Kane is located near Dadar station. We had a Misal Pav which was good. Must say I have had better Misal than this but it was definitely worth a taste. Very filling and not very spicy. I loved the thalipeeth that was served with coconut chutney. The service was good as well. Recommend if you want to try good Maharashtrian food. Ideal place for office going people as it's located next Dadar station. Good value for money.

Established is 1910, MAMA KANE is a typical Marathi Khanaval which serves you delicious Marathi food.
If budget is what your preference is, you've found the place.
I had SPECIAL THALI which included 5 Puris, half plate rice, papad-achar, two sabjis, dal, buttermilk and this full thing was for just 90rs.
I also had a SHREEKHAND WATI (bowl of shrilhand) it was so damn good - perfect taste and consistency.
We had MISAL PAW which was not at all bad.
The VADA PAW was also good. VADA SAMBHAR tasted awesome as well. DAHI VADA was indeed delicious.
Obviously, we ended our meal with their very special PIYUSH. It was okish (or maybe I'm not that fascinated towards this sweet).
In a nutshell, if looking cool is not what you want but you want to have a hearty meal, MAMA KANE AWAITS YOU.
My second visit here & honestly I do not remember eating anything apart from Sabudana Khichdi the last time which was quite okay.
This time - explored around a few more local suggestions by the folks around
1. The Dahi Misal - Brilliant
2. Vada Pao - was okay
3. Dahi Wada - was made to perfection. had the right amount of spice & sweet to it

A typical Maharashtrian place with delicious simple food. I tried Misal Paav. And it is one of the best I have eaten. Also Gajar(carrot) Halwa is good. The staff is also very courteous. And it's right next to Dadar station. So I would recommend this to everyone who will be around the restaurant.

This is the best place for the maharashtrian food just outside the dadar station. I just loved the location because just with seconds aways from station. Misal Paw is one of the best dish you can have here. Far better than other misal outlets in mumbai. Also they have Thalipith, Puri Bhaji etc. The taste is authentic maharashtrian home made taste. Also they serve Kokam, kaccha Aam which is simply amazing. It's one of my favorite place for breakfast. So it's must visit place.
Mama Kane has a variety of authentic Maharashtrian dishes located opposite to Dadar station on one of the busiest streets.
Famous for their Thalipit and Misal this place is one of the oldest restaurant in Dadar.
▶️Thalipit-- was yum and the coconut chutney complimented it pretty well.
▶️Misal-- I've had better misal than this but cost wise was ok.
▶️Bhajiyas-- onion bhajiyas were good.
▶️Kokum sherbet-- nothing special and it's taste didn't impress me much.

Yesterday I had gone to Mama Kane and packed thalipeeth and piyush. I had tried thalipeeth for the first time. It was very fresh and remained hot till I reached home at andheri.
Thalipeeth: they give one piece which is enough for a person like me. The chutney (coconut) and the dry garlic chutney was very fresh. Perfect in taste. Just the way it is made at home. I really loved it. I usually do not like coconut chutney that is served with the dosa but this was very tasty. Slightly sweet but superb. The garlic powder chutney was fresh too and perfect in taste not to spicy and garlicky flavour.
The thalipeeth itself was very fresh and soft. The taste was amazing. Along with the chutney it tastes really very nice. Not heavy at all. Must have at Mama Kane.
Piyush: was slightly sour but it was tasty nice and creamy and refreshing. Perfect breakfast. Surprisingly the food has a very homely touch to it. Not like a typical restaurant kind of taste.
Service is quick and the owner is very polite and so is the rest of the staff.
Must try the homemade drinks and the misal in the next visit

We ordered Missal pav, Kothimbir vadi and Alu vadi. The missal was a bit on the spicy side but we devoured it within minutes.
The Kothimbir vadi was as usual but what stood out for me was the Alu vadi. Oil oozing out none the less, but it tasted great!
150 bucks odd and we were all set! Would definitely recommend to visit this place whenever near Dadar station on the Western side.

Like other hotels in Dadar such as Prakash, Aaswad, Trupti, etc. this place also serves Maharashtrian cuisine. My personal favourites are their batata wada and batata wada usal. The batata wada is slightly on the saltier side but according to me it is among the best batata wadas one would find in the city. Apart from the batata wada, the misal and kothimbir wadi are also delicious. One has to share tables if there isn't enough space available. This is the case with almost all restaurants of this genre and is not a reason to complain.

This humble Maharashtrian eatery which is more than a 100 years old is right outside Dadar West station at a 5min walking distance. I've been going to this place since almost 8 years and they have never disappointed me. It makes me nostalgic of the olden times when things were less fussy. Random people sharing the same table. Friendly Aaji and Ajoba sitting at the counter and devoted staff.
Now comes the food.
I've tried their Thalipeeth, Puri Bhaji, Sabudana Usal, Misal Pav, Lassi, Piyush, Kokam sharbat, Batata Vadi, Pohe, Kande Bhaji and their lunch thali till now. No other place has beaten the taste of their Thalipeeth till now. Especially with the red coconut chutney that it comes along with.
Mama Kaane is a simple place with simple shared seating. Very hygienic and all their food is served hot. Ideal place for students, office going people and everyone who likes maharashtrian snacks. Doesn't burn a hole in your pocket. Total VFM!
I visited this iconic place for Evening snacks, and I am glad that they serve Authentic Maharashtrian Food. Vada Pav is the heart of Mumbai, and they are one of the few places who have been selling it since quite a while. Taste of Vada was nice crunch outside and good amount of stuffing. Piyush a drink goes very well with it.
But I found that two Vadas are big enough to satisfy your hunger

It is spacious, has good seats and lighting while serving you snack items that are pocket & stomach friendly. They also have takeaway snacks like Ladoos, Chakli, and the likes.
We had the Kothimbir Vadi, Piyush and Sabudana (sago) Khichdi here and they all were appetising. The service was slow but they were accomodating.
All in all a good place to grab a quick bite or have tasty food at an affordable price.

I have visited this place often but writing review for the first time. I ordered the healthy delicious thalipeeth. I will rate it as one of the best thalipeeth I ever had. It was served alongwith coconut chutney and red dry chutney. Next I ordered misal pao. Misal pao was just OK. Nothing great about it. I finished off the meal with gajar halwa. It was delicious.
My bill for all this was just Rs 143. Other restaurants should take lessons regarding taste, pricing and quality from this place.

We discovered Mama Kane's Swatchha Upahar Griha while walking around Dadar station aimlessly and famished last Sunday afternoon. This century old establishment serves delicious and home style Maharashtrian fare. I enjoyed their Missal pav which was low on the spice as well as oil content. Their thalis with home style sabzis, dal, kadhi, rice and roti are easy on the stomach as well as pocket. We paid Rs 200 for a meal for two. Prices such as these are hard to find in Mumbai anymore.

I heard a lot about this place, finally I got chance to check-in this place.... typical Maharashtrian restaurant..too old place and must try thalipeeth, okay food.. I had lot of expectations from this but..
Had this place on my mind for a loooooonnng time , and decided to finally visit this place one hot afternoon . This one of the oldest restaurant in this area , have heard the name from parents . You can say it's one of the very famous restaurants in this area and a place to get some good maharashtrian specialities.
Food:We ordered misal pav . It was okay nothing special about it , lil spicier then what you usually get at other places .
Thalipith : mannnn ...This was just finger licking good.
For those of you who are not aware about this dish , it's a crispy pancake made up of a mixture of wheat , jawar, rice , grams . rosted and grinded to get a lil coarse flour , chopped onions, coriander leaves .
Served with a chatni . Only thing missing here was a dollop of butter on it .
Over all a good VFM place for good maharashtrian food.

Yesterday searching restaurants for lunch in dadar west i saw line out side the road near dadar station for lunch . I was hungry but there is no chance to eat there, so i w8 there for 20 min after that i got one seat , i ordered rice and daaaal and ginger lemon , amazing taste of daaal vati aachar and rice i never forgat this taste

Firstly try and get to this place by foot. Don't venture with vehicles. It's in the middle of a bustling narrow road. As mumbaiya as it can get. I loved the ambience and he fact that they have a menu in Marathi script too. It can't get more authentic than that I guess. As an outsider I got the best idea of the local cuisine. And was delighted with my discovery. The thalipeeth is a winner. In fact the humble chutney that comes along can't be bettered. The ambience reflects the simplicity of the dishes. It's got a beautiful charm. The piyush was another discovery. A drink quite unique. The thali was homely. The people friendly. If you're the kind who get a kick in discovering local gems this one seems top on the list.
This place is just outside dadar station....a good place to have misal, thali, wadi...... quick service and good good. ....a place for a quick bite for people on move

One of the oldest hotels in Mumbai. Established in 1928, the founder popularly known as Mama (Uncle) Kane made all the snacks and dishes available for most of the middle class workman people residing in Mumbai at that time. All the Maharashtrian snacks like pohe, upma, shira, batata vada, misal, usal, saboodana khichadi, saboodana vade, pharali misal were made available at reasonable prices. And the taste was said to be retained for all those years. Tasty quality food is served. Staff is always in hurry just like hotels in old movies. Pharali misal was fantastic.

Good place to have authentic maharashtrian food. Breakfast is what I would highly recommend. Piyush is good and coffee with Thalipith is a good experience. They don't accept cards though😰

It’s a vintage Maharashtrian establishment and still so neat and tidy. I had missal paav and it tasted best. We also ordered vada paav and it was nice. Everything here taste nice and it’s pocket friendly.

This eatery serves traditional Maharashtrian food. Though the area is crowded, the hotel is very spacious, neat and clean. Service is excellently prompt. Very neat and clean surroundings in the premises give a touch of satisfaction. Items served here are quite affordable too. In short a place to visit again and again and have a fun and food.
Hence we enjoyed the food here. One can take a parcel. No home delivery.

Went for evening snacks on a weekday. Restaurant is located on the main road opposite to Dadar railway station.
This is a local Maharashtrian cuisine. Reasonable price, quick service and delicious food. Misal Pav was outstanding, it was yummy 😋. Vada (Aloo bonda) was delicious and the Maharashtrian chapathi (made of mixed pulses) was hot, crispy and delicious 👌🏽 All the snacks were delicious.
Only concern is the server was not friendly, he was rude and arrogant. All the people here rude and unfriendly.
If you are a tourist check out this restaurant for some great local food but beware the service will not be friendly.

Amazing place. One of the oldest and most iconic places in dadar. Their misal pav, batata vada and aam panna is worth trying. The ambience is rustic and gives you old world charm. Started in 1910 this place still works as per the standards set in when established and serves amazing Maharashtrian dishes to die for.
They also serve packed Maharashtrian snacks which you can pick from the cash counter.
Restaurant with a long history. Reputed one n very close to Dadar station West side. Tasty and fresh food items. Very nice ambiance.
We ordered a plate of batata vada which they served with their best dry red chutney and coconut chutney on the side. I wish I had a picture of it but the vada's were so good that we couldn't stop ourselves from indulging in. Rs 45 for two massive in size than your usual vada's. Next we ordered a plate of Missal Pav which for Rs 80 oh it was truly a soul food.
The ambience will take you back to 90's maharashtra vibe.
You'll get authentic mumbai(typical marathi) taste here. Just awesome. I was stunned when I get to know that the hotel was established in 1910 OMG!!!!😶😶😄 Locals say that it's been almost 110 years still taste is the same. Batata Vada is most recommended dish. ❤️

It's been there for ages and still serves the best in batata Vada usal, misal pav and other local Maharashtrian delicacies. I have given 4 star for atmosphere as the set up is very basic and down to earth. No fancy set up, decor or luxurious seats to relax... If you want taste this is the place to be.
