Excellent sea food restaurent which serves seafood which not only tastes great but also light on the pocket. My favourite is the Bombil fish fry and King fish fry which just melts in the mouth. Its very popular among office goers heading for a quick home tasting meal. eventhough Seating is limited yet its fully occupied during working days. For a budget kind of sea food meal this is the right place for you.

This tiny but amazing joint is sure to take true Manglorean food lovers down memory lane. It certainly did for one of us bringing back memories of past delectable authentic home food Manglorean style. So at this stop we ordered their Surmai Fry, their Mutton Sukha and Kori Roti. While all three completely hit the spot, the Surmai and Mutton took the cake. Surmai was extremely fresh, well spiced and cooked perfectly. The Mutton was cooked to a 'Melt in Mouth' consistency and was prepared in a thick coconut based gravy. The Kori Roti was well presented with authentic flavors. This is the joint for true Manglorean cuisine lovers when in Fort.

If you're someone who's looking out for a chilled glass of beer alongwith delicious, crispy sea food, search no more : Harish is the place. Introduced to me by another die-hard-seafood-fanatic Roopesh Anchan, Harish is a cramped, non Ac restaurant that will not give you the comfort and ambience, but will more than make up for it with their spread.
Round 1: order a chilled beer with some crispy bombay duck rava fry and prawns (ask for the small sized ones). Also, order neer dosa and they will serve it with their fish curry (unlimited, eat as much as you can).
Round 2: order another chilled beer with surmai Masala fry alongwith Mackarel or Lep or Pomfret. They also have local fish which are delicious if you want to be adventurous and go for something different.
Round 3: another beer (if you have the stomach for it) and you can have the kori roti, sukkha chicken or the boiled manglorean rice with chicken or fish gassi.
You can repeat the rounds if you still have some space and josh ;)
All 3 rounds put together will not cost you more than 2k,and you'll be content for the rest of the day, wanting to ruminate on what just went in. Harish is a second home for all coastal karnataka folks, who yearn for the local stuff with some beer of course!

Just for food lovers, and specially Mangalorean cuisine, I have never had a better Chicken Kori Rotti even in Mangalore. This place takes us to the Fort of 80s, fish fry also neatly done.. I will reach this place again soon
A friend of mine recommended this place for manglorean food and I finally decided to try it. The ambience is like a small typical restaurant's in the 90's but their service is quick and you can share your table with others as well because its crowded.
But coming to the most important part their food was heavenly the taste was on point. I've eaten kori roti at so many place and this was by far the best. I even had prawns gassi with neer dosa and it was super delicious and my fish fry was flavorful well marinated and cooked. Definitely a must visit place.

As a mangalorian myself, It great to have place Harish lunch home. The quality of the food is really good, ambiance is a typical bar restaurant so for family it might not be a good place but if you want to enjoy good food, this is a place to be. Service is quite efficient and friendly and prices are very reasonable and pocket friendly.

I have long tried to shield this place from the public eye lest it affects their dedication towards serving good and affordable food but I think they deserve all the good words there are. Harish is a place that's close to my heart and my review is my way of showing my appreciation to the friendly waiters and owners who never fail to throw a smile at you once you become a regular. Don't expect fancy interiors as it is one of the typical lunch homes in Bombay but I guarantee the food will be a satiating experience. Try the lepo fish fry, bilza and fried prawns. Their chaas is refreshing till the last sip. Their crab curry is also worth a try with a tandoori roti or rice depending on your preference. A reliable and economical option especially towards the end of the month!
Wht a lovely place to visit when u are low on money specially. The seafood is awesome here and to add to it the mangalorian cuisine makes it more awesome . Had Mutton Sukka which had all pieces of tender mutton in it with awesome coconut base semi gravy, lepa fry which was fried to perfection as well as sippy sukka which had amazing flavours in it. This is THE place for value-for-money fish in Mumbai. Tucked away in a corner of Fort, this place serves out the treasures of the sea on your plates. Every local fish is available - specialty is lepa, bombil (Bombay Duck), prawn koliwada & pomfret. They fry all the fish in the same batter and yet each dish has its own distinct flavour and texture. When available, this goes very well with the Mangalorean favourite carb- neer dosa & rassam. My trips to Mumbai are incomplete without at least one meal here. The place is cramped and not air-conditioned, but when a group of 3 can stuff themselves for just ₹1,300, who's complaining!

Excellent Lepo fried fish. The Bombil’s pretty good too. Had heard about this place on a food review blog. Delicious to the bone! Make sure you request for some butter milk & a bowl of rassam to go with whatever you order here. The prawn gassi’s serving size could be larger but the taste felt just the right blend of coconutey & the thick consistency of the gravy was spot on! The service was super attentive & prompt & the moment I told the kindly waiter that I had a sore throat, he got be a bowl of rassam for me! Now that’s attention to detail that goes lacking in some of these bigger establishment. The ambiance is wholly devoid of women so I reckon come here for some fried fish & permit room style (gents dominated) fussfree-ness. Bring the rest of the blokes too.

I love this place. This is as cheap as it can get, however, they serve amazing food and cheap booze. This place has been there since ages and I have heard stories about this place from my dad and uncles. I’m told they have not changed since ages and mostly cater to folks looking for good food and cheap liquor. This place is recommended for your guy gang and is a strict NO for females.
Food: Amazing. You can order any seafood like pomfret, surmai, bondas, kane, prawns etc. it is usually fresh. In my view, freshness is the make or break as far as seafood is concerned. They serve alcohol by quarter system and hence it works out cheap.
Ambience: There is NO ambience. Just a bunch of chairs and tables stuffed wherever they could find some space. They also have an ‘upar’ wala section, but you may want to avoid it as it gets stuffy since it lacks any kind of ventilation.
Cleanliness: Wipe your plates and cutlery before you use them. This will give you at least the psychological satisfaction that you cleaned them.

Visited HLH last week for a parcel. Ordered Chicken Masala, Sukka Chicken, Prawns Gassi and Chicken Tandoori.
The Chicken Tandoori was decent but not the best I've tried.
The Chicken Sukka and Prawns Gassi is quite nice.
The Chicken Masala is awesome. One of the best I've ever had ever.
Overall quite satisfied with the food. Will definitely visit again.

Wide variety of fresh fish you will find here,from bombil (Bombay duck) to pomfret & surmai to ravas everything is here at affordable prices.But one thing to notice that this is a bar and restaurant so if you're non drinker this place might upset you. Lunch Homes are the south Indian version of 'khanaval'. The focus is on quick scrumptious meals that wont burn a hole in your pocket. This place has the added advantage of serving alcohol.
Yes, you will not see too many women around. But I will let you know when I am headed there next and you can sit and watch a woman sitting alone with a huge pile of brown rice, some yummy crispy fried fish and fish curry and a pint of beer to wash it all down.
You will also notice that you are the only creep staring at me and everyone including the sweaty uncle I am sharing the table with is more focused on his food. And everyone is just going about their business.
As a half Mangalorean, take my word for it- it does not get any more authentic.

A typical Manglorean Cuisine restaurant and bar which serves liquor by the quarter. There's no ambiance to speak of but it compensated by way of service and food. We ordered tishrya sukka, surmai, Kane, and a lot of other fish with Manglorean names. Everything was absolutely fresh and perfectly fried, crispy outside and soft inside. Even the spice was just right. The service was prompt and with a smile. Prices are reasonable with Surmai fry at 200 and Kane and bombil at 170. Would definitely go again just for the fresh fish.

Looks like a hole in the wall and can be easily be missed but definitely a manglorean foodie's paradise. We popped in for a quick working lunch which is extremely common in this part of town and so we could only taste a limited number of dishes whereas ideally I would have spent a leisurely noon savoring the food here. Service is super quick and helpful. The waiter advised us well on the rice quantity. Prawns masala was perfectly spiced. Bombil fry was fleshy and crispy. Surmai fry was decent. Fish curry rice is excellent. Egg biryani was enough for 2 persons. Vegetarians are advised to avoid as there are no veg dishes (except dal). And having Basa on the menu of such an authentic restaurant alongside tharlis and lepo is disappointing cos true fish lovers would never stoop so low. Pls delete?
Will definitely revisit soon with bigger group and more time.

Have been to this place a couple of times and this place never fails to amaze me.....the food is absolutely yumm....mus try are its bombil fry, crab curry, ravas tava fry, clams sukka.....u would jus luv it and not to miss the soulcurry at the end topped up with caramel custard. Seafood is really fresh and the staff is helpful, however being near office areas usually during dinners on weekdays one wont see many families there....anywayz the food compensates it....wuld love to visit again

Okay, so this isn't a very coveted state of art meal place but it can give quite a few of these typical lavish interiors places a run for their money. The food here is so fantastic that one just cannot avoid visiting again. The sea food here is so mouth watering, esp their fried fish dishes and the manglorean cuisine. It would be safe to say that this place is a treat for sea food lovers. A must try for anyone who claims to be a foodie and i can assure you won't be disappointed!

Been here on a weekday. The ambience of the place would make you doubt if you should actually get in but trust me this place is worth it. Unfortunately, we were a bit late at around 10 30 p.m. and they were almost winding up and had very few diners.
We tried their bangada fry and bombay duck fry with some Neer Dosas and roti. The Bangada was awesome (Rating 4/5) but the Bombay duck was a bit soggy for our palate(Rating 2.5/5), nonetheless both the fishes were fresh. Their neer dosas were just mind blowing (Rating 4/5). They offered some fish curry in addition to these dishes which was packed with flavours and was authentic manglorean.
We were planning to have their prawns gassi and chicken sukka which were supposed to be awesome but as we were late they had ran short of it. We then ordered their mutton sukka which was by far the best mutton sukka that I have had in a long time (Rating 4/5. Would have given it a 5/5 had it been boneless ;-) ). We coupled this with their fish curry and their chicken curry alongwith rice and were more then content and had wide smiles across our faces as we completed our meal.

What a gem of a place in the bylanes of Bombay. You might miss this for it's location, but it's worth the find. Randomly walked into it one day all by myself to find some really interesting sea food the place as the name suggests, is like a scaled down version of Mahesh lunch home. If fine dine is what you are looking at, then this is not a place for you. A very small and rustic, typical "bar ani restaurant" of Bombay. But the food any day can give solid competition to the big guns. Plus the cheap liquor. It's definitely worth a try for anyone who likes food and doesn't bothers about ambience. It's a food experience, not an overall one.

One of the no nonsense eateries at Fort, you may even need to share a table if you go by yourself. One of the few places that runs packed at lunch hours every day. I have been here twice, and most recently we ordered the chicken tikka (INR 130), Dal fry (INR 70), half rice plate (INR 40) and Butter milk (INR 12). We recommend the dal, rice and butter milk, half plate is a good offering for people who want to share and don't have much of an appetite. The chicken tikka was far too dry, and can be given a miss. This is a very small place, even though the service is quick, you are advised to reach earlier when the peak rush sets in. Overall a must visit for seafood and some dal rice, and definitely your money's worth.

Being located in an area which has food joints in plenty, I have set out to try out each of the several eateries and satiate my hunger for good food.
Had the prawns rice and curry. Although on the slightly spicier side, you do not want to stop eating until it is over. Don't be surprised if you find people around you having alcohol. The place was meant to satiate everyone's hunger for food and alcohol.

Won't comment much on the food as it has been covered well in other reviews. This landmark has never failed to surprise with its Glen McGrath-like nagging super consistency on the taste front. Had taken my partner here numerous times and each time my personal favorite: Lepo fry, was ordered and polished before once could scream Fishhhhhh.
The gravy is just thick enough to wriggle its way amongst the grains of brown rice and tantalize the hungry tongue. Personal recommendation: Finish your meal with their 'Chaas', not extraordinary but the tingly taste, somehow, sits well on the taste buds which have been just tickled by the aquatic life, now resting in the tummy.

If you want to taste the best prawns gassi in Mumbai, this is the place !! Club the gassi with a neer dosa and life is cool. This is a bar, so don't look for any ambience. Most of the times, you have to share tables with unknown souls. Nothing beats the combination of chilled beer and spicy seafood, just like we have it in mangalore. They even have the authentic mangalore uppad( pickle). The fish fry, lepa, surmai, bombil, Kane was just awesome. And the best climax is the ukada rice( boiled rice from which water is drained out) mixed with the complimentary fish curry. The rates are quite economical, price for 2 will be around 700 bucks with alcohol and heavy eating.

Budget mein ho toh harish jao. Well, the perks of working in fort area was the access to the numerous food joints. Harish lunch home was my go to place for lunch twice every week. My usual order was the Bombil Fry, Rice, Dal Fry & a pint of beer. Simple restaurant which is a lunch house that serves you Mangalore an food. I miss it.

Outstanding fish curry! Can be had with their tandoori rotis, plain rice or a thickish rice that some of the patrons here seem to prefer. They serve a good surmai and prawns fry (although the prawns are a bit puny). Their chicken tikka isn't too tender but tastes great (do insist on a second helping of the delicious salad they serve along with the tikka). This is a no frills place where you're most likely to share a table if you are by yourself. They do serve basic booze which the office crowd at Fort appreciates after sun-down.

Harish is a food Outlet located in the vicinity of Ballard Estate in South Mumbai.... Since it is close Sasun Dock this place serves fresh fish and yes worth every bite one takes..

When you see this restaurant, you would feel, no I shouldn't be here..But if you are in fort area and you want to try some tasty fishy foods, this is a great option..Being in a busy office area, many a times there's a long waiting queue..
So incase you need to feed yourself, you have to move in early..
The food here is just fabulous..Great foods tastes at cheap prices..Trying any fish here and you won't go home disappointed..Never miss out on the famous BOMBAY DUCK FRY..There are a few Chicken items too..But if you come here, come for their fish, not their Chicken....

Whenever I crave for fish curry rice and fried fish I just rush to Harish it’s a great place for seafood lovers though the ambience is okay okay the taste of food outwits everything. Fired Lepa or fried Bhangda is just amazing.

I had heard about this restaurant and thought of trying it out, but was disappointed. On a personal level, i prefer food that is less pungent, so i wasn't too pleased with the dishes though they were fine, but it was spicy. Taste doesn't come with spice alone, there are other ingredients that make up the taste and bring out the flavour of the dish. Had tried prawns dry, surmai fry and shells dry. Service was fast and prompt - so no issues with that. It is a small place but with fast service - i do feel that the ground level needs a renovation or maybe just a thorough cleaning to give it a fresh look.
Very famous mangalorean eatery joint in town. Must visit and try out the sea food options on the menu. Their service is too fast, don't have to wait much for the food to arrive. We were lucky to get a table maybe because it was a Saturday, otherwise it's mostly packed. The fish fries and prawns ghee roast are must haves.
This place is heaven for all seafood lovers. They serve a lot of variety of fish fry. You should try it all. Along with fish fry, you can take fish rasa. Eat along with whatever whiskey you have ordered. Then for the main course try their chicken biryani. You will never go disappointed with this place
An old Local Joint in Fort but services really good sea food. If you like the Vibe of being in a small local place this place shall work for you. The fish curry that comes complimentary if to die for. If you want to understand the local Mumbai bar culture it's a place to be.
The non-vegetarian cuisine served in the Mangalorean style was delicious and reasonably priced.
Although very adjusted, the hotel is fine.

If you want to eat to your heart's content, this is the place. You can try all the fish, fried ones ..they are all amazing. The service is really good, the atmosphere is decent and the food is finger lickin' good. We had ordered Surmai fry, prawns fry, chicken tandoori, pomfret masala curry with boiled rice, tandoori roti n chicken Sukha(Manglore style),2 lime soda and one beer..We had so much and the bill was just 1443/-..The quantity is also scrumptious for the price they charge.We had amazing experience here with zero complaints. Keep it up guys
This tiny but amazing joint is sure to take true Manglorean food lovers down memory lane. It certainly did for one of us bringing back memories of past delectable authentic home food Manglorean style. So at this stop we ordered their Surmai Fry, their Mutton Sukha and Kori Roti. While all three completed hit the spot, the Surmai and Mutton took the cake. Surmai was extremely fresh, perfectly spiced and cooked perfectly. The Mutton was cooked to a 'Melt in Mouth' consistency and was prepared in thick coconut based gravy. The Kori Roti was well presented with authentic flavors. This is the joint for true Manglorean cuisine lovers when in Fort.

It's a sweet little place for great sea food at really affordable price! I ate my heart out at super basic price! The staff is also very cordial.
Best place to enjoy sea food with friends and also enjoy drinks. Ambience is not good and even the place is non AC.
Still the quality of the sea food is far too good.
Women's will find the place very uncomfortable.
