Kamat is a age old restaurant situated in the heart of a shopping hub “Crawford market”, the food here is good at taste bit slightly pricey.
I recommend having fast food and South Indian delicacies here and it won’t disappoint you.
Do not go for Chinese they South Indian chef have no clue how to cook that cuisine.
All in all good place for snacking in between shopping and has a courteous staff.
Newly renovated with amazing ambiance...good place to hangout with friends and family..must try south indian dishes..I enjoyed masala rava dosa and idli with sambar and coconut chatni...must visit
I had been here once and it was an excellent experience had thali which was amazing all different types of dal and subzi are served including curd at reasonable price of 350rs as you can see it is enough for 2 or 3 people totally worth it and taste good too .
Kamat hotel near Crawford market Marine Lines
A South Indian joint which has dosas Idlis and other stuffs like pav bhaji punjabi n Chinese tooo this place has ac n non ac sections and the food is good out here ... Mysore sada is must ....
Its a very old place at least 4 decades old....it was first located near dava bazaar by name Indra Bhuvan now known as Kamat.....opp GT hosp.....it serves very good south and north Indian food yummy n tasty.....do not try Chinese food here....veg biryani is served with coconut curry that curry is yum if u r a coconut lover....simple restaurant yet so good famous amongst shoppers at Crawford market
Right from heart till the mind, right from south till the north! This is all about KAMAT HOTEL! Right from mouth watering chole puri and bhatura, till heart soothing idlis and wada, Kamat Hotel has food which is least oily and equally tasty. Quality is maintained and this is the satisfactory fact of this place, the words right from its costumers.
I bet you haven't had a veg cheese grilled sandwiche like here anywhere else in Mumbai! The staff is courteous and knows how to get the orders right even after making the modifications you ask for to suit your taste! Good sized portions. Value for money.
We visited this hotel in the month of June 2018. In these last days of summer we ordered some chilling things like chocolate shake, sandwich , pizza etc😍. The food was just awesome 😎 and we all loved it. The quantity and quality of food was also amazing😋 .The srevice which we got there was good enough. We should visit such hotels every time.🙂
Kamat Hotel. One of the oldest chain of hotel in India. Didnt disappoint. Quality for lower prices. I arrived at around quater after 6. I wanted to order biryani. But they dont serve biryani until 7. They had only idly , vada, etc. Cant have idly in summer. It was too hot for it. So i ended up ordering a fruit salad. Cute presentation. One might think they cold serve more for the price. But if u think about it, price was apt for the quality. They have AC upstairs. Make yourself cosy there.
I always visit this area when every i come shopping to crawford market, loharchawl. The service is so good. Mostly i prefer to hog on the meduwadas and coffee. Good food quality. Hygenic place
Kamath hotels is like a mini franchise serving dosas and Indian food. The menu is nothing different. It's a typical udipi restraunt. My dad had the Onion uttapa and I had the Mysore masala dosa. We later had chai and resumed shopping.. average for me.

One of the umpteen kamats in Mumbai, serving fresh and fast food to multitudes of aam aadmi, very functional ambiance, very simple steel benches and laminated tables, hygiene level is standard, staff works with superhuman speed and one of the last vestiges of civilization where a family of 4 can still have a filling meal in less than 500 bucks.
We went about 2-3 days ago, my mom, my sister and I were in crawford market doing some shopping and had dinner here. Masala Dosa, Mysore Masala Dosa, Onion Rava Masala Dosa, Tomato Onion Uttapam, everything was good, my only grouse (as always) the sambhar was as far away from authentic sambhar as possible with that ridiculous sweetish touch that is the hallmark of south Indian food in 90% of Mumbai's eateries! Coconut chutney too was watery but at least the dosas were brilliant :D And they have clearly written that old 500-1000 notes as well as no kind of card payment is accepted, so go prepared :D
Delicious and well-priced food and service is quick and professional! They serve a great variety of Indian and Chinese food. Also conveniently located. Recommendations: sweet lassi, veg kofta, gulab jamun.
I have visited this place a lot of time, and the service is very good, quick and reasonably priced. I will surely recommend the veg biryani and the varieties in the menu, I can still imagine the taste. In snacks try the Dahi papdi chaat it has all the balanced flavors of sweet, sour & spice. Last but not the least, wanna treat yourself with dessert, try out the seasonal fruit with cream, I had the chance to have Custard apple with whipped & at a very favorable price.
Awesome South Indian thali, delicious and sumptuous. The thali food tastes good. Service was good too. The ambiance is not that good, but a nice place to have a good South Indian meal. The thali is a bit overpriced, but it's OK since it's difficult to find them here :)

I ate at kamath at sidhibinayak square so thought of same experience but no..its yak. Dis dosa nly looks gud bt in taste its nly dosa with boiled potatoes. Didnt lyk d food at all.
Good place for pure vegetarians. The food is reasonably priced too. They offer both North as well as South indian food. Families are welcome:)
Overall a decent place for a quick meal. I would recommend to try the green peas paneer. Totally worth it. :D
Went here with my dad for a late afternoon lunch - ordered dosas and idlis. Both were obviously good, but the ambience can be better. Prices appeared to be reasonable for the brand, though service could have been quicker.
Every since I was a child my parents have got me to this restaurant. And each time it hasn't disappointed me.
The south Indian dishes along with finger snacks are quite tasty.
The north Indian cuisine was equally good and I would recommend to have veg. Kofta along with butter roti.
As for the Jain people they have quite a few varieties for Jain. But I would expect a few more as being a completely veg restaurant Jain options could be made easier.
I was born and bought up in town and this place has been like home to me whenever i have felt hungry, even now after i have shifted to Dubai whenever i come down to Mumbai, i do make a point to visit Kamat at least once or twice. My favorite has been the Stuff Capsicum but Veg Kolhapuri is also very nice. Worth trying the south Indian dishes as well. They Butter Nan and Rotis are also very good being Crispy from Outside and soft within. The Service is fast and the restaurant is kept very neat. Going to town for shopping and want to have quick bite, this is the place to be. Would rate 4.5/5
Mostly south Indian food and good and fast service make it a place you want to visit after shopping in the Crawford market area. Snacks like rava masala dosas and utthapams are what we had and the coconut chutney and sambar are great.
A good veg option for a hungry stomach.
Have been visiting this place since childhood as my school was just opposite the restaurant, ie St. Xaviers High School.
Now the name of the outlet speaks for itself :) excellent quality and taste...
My personal favourite is their Veg. Burger, among the handful burgers offered in Mumbai this one is worth ur bucks.
I am 22 right now and have been visiting Kamat Hotel since childhood.
Try any South Indian dish out here and it's guaranteed to be both wholesome and delicious at the same time.
The food at Kamat is the benchmark for me whenever I visit any other South Indian restaurant.
Kamats have maintained their reputation since years! This restaurant caters to the foodies on the go. Try its Puri Bhaji or any south Indian dish...its tasty and wholesome. You won't get proper Chinese dishes if you are looking for one. I like this place for the cleanliness, prompt service and affordable rates.
Omg their rava masala n onion uttapam r just awesome!!! Don't forget to try dahi vada here for a sweet tooth.. Pizza is decent.. Not a huge fan of sambar but yes their sambar also tastes nice
Have the chinese & south indian food. The dahi bada is yhe best thing here; Sweet, spicy & tangy. Can be real crowded at times with shoppers trying a quick bite or families out for dinner. Try it when at Crawford Market.
Cheap rates, clean place, good service but parking issues. They provide wash room on 1st floor.
No one can resist their Punjabi food and Manchurian..and their spring rolls are good..all in all good place to hangout once in a while if u r in that area!
Been there for a quick dinner recently.
For a heads up, this is not the place you go for ambiance or a lavish meal.
But if you're looking for decent indian food with very reasonable prices and your in the locality then be rest assured as the place is your only option.
We had manchow soup (Rs 95) which was decent but who puts mushrooms! (not cool.)
Then up was veg jalfraezi (decent ) and butter rotis which is very soft and you cant even eat it with pickle. Super
All in all the bill came up to Rs 291 for 2 and a stomach full. So its cheap and filling and reliable in terms of quality of the food.
Their service is actually quick and despite being the last ones in the hotel, they served us well till the end. Appreciate that gesture.
A nice simple joint for some reasonable food. However food at their colaba outlet tastes better.
Good options in breakfast. Medu wada sambar , utappa was good.
Authentic and fresh South Indian food served here amidst the busy business district of Mumbai. Ambiance simple and down to earth type but food good. Stick to South Indian Dishes for which this eatery is well known. Don't miss - do give it a try.
One of the good restaurants to have comfort south indian food. Sambar wa very very tasty with lot of french beans and drum sticks in it.
Batata bhaji in Puri bhaji was on sweeter side. They give 3 large puris in one plate of puri bhaji. Overall must visit to have south indian dishes. Cost is on a higher side for sure.
Service was really great , atmosphere is awesome food taste are really good ,but it is little costly ,they have both ac and non AC dining, while working cars in that road please aware that is no parking area police will lock your car wheel
Had only veg cheese grilled sandwich taste is ok.
Service is really really good.
Food is also good but I didn't find any newness as I have been visiting it from years earlier the taste and the variety of curries was awesome compared to now.
Aparty from its South Indian Thali, dosa idle and Vada is quite good.👍😊
This is a very good place to eat if ure at Crawfort market. The food is good. It’s a mid size not very high end food joint. The one where u can just drop in have a quick bite without thinking too much and leave without hurting your pocket. Not very great but not bad at all.
Whenever u and family come to Crawford Market for shopping, think of Kamat Restaurant nearby..good for hot breakfast and best of all..very gooood tea!!!!!
Neat and clean!! Comfortable!!
Decent place to have a quick snack or meal. Good quality standard south indian fare. A tad bit expensive but, what is not in South Mumbai? Service is quick and coffee is great!
Visited here few days back. I have been to this place pre pandemic too and food as usual is good.
Post pandemic they are taking necessary precautions. Temperature check for everyone, Waiters with mask on face and head covered, noting contact number of every customer and santizer is also kept.
On this visit I had dal fry and roti and it was good in taste.
Best South Indian Karnataka restaurant amidst Mumbai with authentic taste, quality food.. must visit for all kannadigas visiting Mumbai VT/CST
