Idli was pre cocked and kept. Would have preferred it out of the steamer! Overall and must try. Authentic south Indian food.
This place is very much famous for South Indian dishes !! Many of my friends were telling me to try garden dosa as well as many other dishes !! I went in the afternoon and soon as I reached to the place and saw the cleanliness I was shock it was so awesome !! All the dosa and dishes were in affordable prices and then I order the famous garden dosa !! It was cooked so perfectly with cheese and mayonnaise on the top and I was looking at the dish for 5 min because it was decorated so well and served mannerly !! The sambhar and chutney was also good !! Amazing food quality ,loved it !! Everyone should visit this place not only for dosa but also for vadas and idlis !! Big thumps for this place !!
Ayyappan Idli Stall is one of the best place for South Indian Food. This is located in Matunga. I ordered Special Garden Dosa which was nicely Decorated and also Delicious, stuffed with cheese, Mayonnaise and Veggies and Pineapple Sheera was also nice. They have some Standing and some Sitting Arrangements. Would recommend you to try this place..
Lovely food worth every penny. Loved the thate idli n idli vada..
Ayyappan is the best place for the south indian food lover they serve authentic South Indian food.
▪ Garden dossa is must to try as it looks amazing also the taste the same, it's damn delicious dossa stuffed with veggies, cheese, mayo and I'm in love with the texture 😍and taste indeed it's the special dish of ayyappan.
▪ Onion uttappa and schezwan uttappa is also the best, and something different a south Indian dish with a blend of Chinese isn't it sounds amazing? Yes and also taste amazing.
▪ Mysore dossa is also the best doosa indeed all the dishes available here is delicious and must to visit place. They serve all of this with coconut chutney, sambar, mix onion tomato chutney.

One of the besttt places for South Indian food..I have been visiting this place since years now...I absolutely love their Mysore dosa and idli..Their pineapple sheera is also quite good.
Would definitely recommend trying out this place! Also try their spring dosa
The masala dosa we ordered was really yummy! But very very small. I was sad. We will have to order an extra one if we order here again. I requested extra coconut chutney and we got a lot. I think they added sugar to their sambhar which is really not necessary.
Great outlet on the go. Good food at affordable rates
I had mysore masala dosa with yummy sambar and chutneys. Best place to have south indian snacks.
This is a small outlet located in Matunga. The ambience is decent but don’t let that fool you. One you try their specialty you will never regret it. They serve authentic South Indian food. The quality and hygiene of this place is remarkable. It is an ideal place to have breakfast!! We tried a few things here:
⁃ Idli sambhar: You can never ever go wrong with this dish. They serve it with spicy garlic chutney, coconut chutney and sambhar. The taste was amazing. It was different then any other sambhar you have. The Idlis were also very soft. The quality was really good.
⁃ Mysore Masala Dosa: It may sound like any typical dosa you have at stalls but trust me there is nothing so typical about this place. The seasoning of dosa and the masala was on point. They also did not overstuff the dosa. All the ingredients were fresh and the flavour of Mysore along with subtle garlic taste was a treat!
⁃ That’s Idli: Well I was a bit daring when I ordered this dish. But I absolutely loved it. The masala on top of the idli is something that you will not find anywhere. The flavour gave me a real authentic feel. This dish is definitely worth trying. The texture and the quality was good. The idli was also soft.

Ayyapan idli stall is a South Indian eatery service delicious snacks.
It has moved to bigger a place than their original stall. It now has better sitting area and space.
This is amazing place to eat south Indian food. They have many types of dosas.
Have been there for multiple times .never disappointed even once.
Must try their Pineapple sheera!
Highly recommended!!
Ayyapan Idli in Matunga is a must visit for all the south Indian food lovers. It's heaven for everyone who likes a good authentic south indian food. Always packed, this place has a lot to offer from the basic dosa. Their idlis are bigger than the usual ones. I highly recommend their neer dosa and masala dosa. And and their sambhar and chutney is finger licking good. Medu wada is the best. Pricing is also good and reasonable. They also have cheese dosa, Mysore dosa and gini dosa, and many more in the list. I take my sweet 3-5 mins in deciding what to have here, as the menu has so much to offer. Will definitely recommend other dishes as when i try here.
Thanks for reading:)
Small stall in the lanes of Matunga near maheshwari circle. Tried a couple of dishes like pineapple sheera, medu vada and idli. Good for the price of a street side stall. Choose the time wisely as it gets overcrowded.
We visited the Ayyapan Idli Centre last Thursday. South Indian food is one of the favourite food.
If you are looking for tasty food than luxurious ambience, then this is the perfect place. I'll suggest to visit specially for South Indian lovers.
We had :
FOOD
1. Rasam dal vada (5/5)

Ayyapan idli stall is a South Indian eatery service delicious snacks. This is small place located in Matunga east near king circle railway station. This is amazing place to eat south Indian breakfast. Here you will get different varieties of dosas, filter coffee and pineapple sheera. Have been there for multiple times .never disappointed even once. There is no such kind of ambience but quality of food is good and quantity is little less but great in taste!! Highly recommended!!
No frills, No jazz, just a renowned spot which still believes in quality over anything. They have 2 tables laid outside for you to sunbathe and enjoy the traditional South-Indian food and a few sharing tables to stand and eat inside. The menu is written on a board and they serve varieties of idlis, dosas, uthappas and other South-Indian delicacies.
We tried podi idli which was soft and spongy idli cubes coated in butter and podi. It was heavenly! The Ayyapan Special Dosa was a buttery dosa bundled up with an array of chutneys, veggies, noodles, paneer and topped with some more paneer and cheese is sure a delight for dosa lovers out there! Overall amazing experience. Do visit if you are around the vicinity.
Have been to ayyappan many times can say almost from school days post 10 th exam had celebrated with food at Ayyappan.

Thankyou
I've eaten masala dosa from so many places & so many times & being a South Indian itself I can recommend you that this place is amazing & the chatni is thick & yummy. I've fallen in love with the place. You can have the best masala dosa & medu vada in Mumbai right here ❤
Good for breakfast items like idli, medu vada, dosa and a lot more. Food is really good but it gets so crowded at times that it makes nearly impossible to even place an order.
I just cannot this praise this small and humble set up enough. No seatings, long waiting time but guess what no one really cares when they are certain of such good food. Been here so many times and always felt very content with the food.
This is my famous Idli Wala near Phool Market in Matunga. Whenever I like to eat South Indian Dishes I always opt for this place. Very Famous in Matunga East Area. Great Taste, Pocket-Friendly and trusted outlet.
All the South Indian eateries in Matunga are crowded. This place does not have regular seating rather there are just elevated desks and some aloof windows seating arrangement to hog over delicious varieties of idlis and dosas.
Their filter coffee is a must-have.
A hidden gem for all the south indian lovers in matunga east . This place had a wide variety of south indian dishes from dosas, uttapam , sheera , idli and wada . The best was the Chinese uttapam and onion uttapam here along with butter idli podi and pineapple sheera . Medu wada is good when u have it hot and crunchy . A good experience of south indian dishes overall.
This is very nice place which is located in matunga. I visited this place last week and it was nice experience. South Indian food is really good.
This place is also a very nice place located near Matunga which is popular for delivery of South Indian dishes....
I have tried many things from here...
I loved Mysore Masala Dosa, rawa dosa and pineapple sheera which is the best...

A good place for South indian food ...
Especially those crispy meduvadas ..
My favourite here is cheese sada doasa with coconut chutney.......
As a Maharashtrian I love breakfasts, I tried ayyappan past 5years and this place has a different taste and a small place in my heart than any other South Indian restraunts, as this place is so down to earth and have a real home made taste for its own and I love food which taste how it should taste in a perfect manner and there are 5 mandatory items I eat that is (Idli, Medu Vada, Pineapple Sheera, Cocktail Dosa & Filter coffee) just to note these are the best 5 items I've had here and many other items are also delicious in its own way just that this is only thing I can have as a survival kit if I'm out of food! Just a fan of this restraunt! All 5 starts to you ❤️❤️❤️

Wanna try best south Indian breakfast in Mumbai ? Head over to Matunga (CR) and you'll be confused.
We choose to visit Ayyappan to try their hot pipping Medu Vadas & Idli along with Pineapple Sheera. Every thing was so delicious, that we were unable to stop ourselves but we ended our breakfast with Filter Coffee.
They have standing tables with few seating arrangement. Each and everything here was in affordable price, though it's a service self (Pay first while ordering).

Loved ayyappan’s cheese pav bhaji dosa! Ayyappan stall has variety of dosas which jus melt your heart and cheese in your mouth!! Mouthwatering experience!
One of the best places to have dosa's with a twist. I have been here multiple times and it is my go-to place to have the lip smacking dosa's. This place was introduced to me by my brother and has been in my list of places to eat till date.
Perfect place to hang out with friends! We generally order filter coffee. Must try Masala Idli! Idli is soft and and steamy. Rasam is perfect and their chutney is cheery on the cake. Recommended!
Top class option in my list when I feel to have South Indian food.. Wow 😮 just amazing💕😍
This place is just meant for taste of South Indian fast food items... All types of dosa uttappa you will find..and with Chinese flavours to it... Yoh will also have sweet item like sheera I like mango flavor is the most which I prefer always and in dosa chinese dosa just amazing... But the main thing over here is the the tastes of the coconut 🥥 and tomato 🍅 chutney 😍😍they taste very very awsome😋😋
All above other they rates are quite pocket friendly 😉
Ordered for idli, wada and podi upma. The dishes were nice. The upma was really good. Also the chutney served was thick and flavorful. Enjoyed my breakfast. Thank you
This Stall has Excellent South Indian Foods. Probably we can say that its best in Mumbai for Sambhar and Chutney. Its very famous in Locality Area. Mendu Wada is Extremely Good, we cant see oily in that. So it taste very good. Also I have tried Noodles Dosa Its Also Amazing. And Idli is Also Good. This restaurant is Highly Recommended.
It has authentic taste to it's dosas, chutney and sambhar. You should try the rava doas and thatta idli. You can't miss the filter coffee after all the delicious dosas. Perfect joint for an early morning breakfast. My all time favorite.
The taste of this stall is unparalleled. Hot and refreshing, the food quality here has improved and so are my visits to the place!!! Keep it up!
This place was once a road-side gem, it has now got its own hotel. With a no strings attached decor, the place has some lip smacking South Indian options. I just love their red chutney and dal wada, of course this doesn’t mean the other items on their menu aren’t heavenly!
Many times the ambiance and comfort is of prime importance when you go out for a meal. But this place kicks it off the table because of its ABSOLUTELY AMAZING food. It's like a staple South Indian dinner where you can get endless variety of South Indian food and really lip smacking South Indian food. We had podi idli, podi dosa, cheese chilly dosa, many plates of vada idli, ginni dosa, filter coffee and lassi. The taste was something I've never had before ♥️. The coffee was mind blowing and can not be beaten really. They have standing tables which makes it all the more interesting, though you can sit at the windows. And damn they have so much things to try at a very very very reasonable price. Please do visit this place. Not exaggerating at all!
Today morning my wife and I went to matunga for South Indian breakfast. One of our best food experience in Mumbai. Between us we had idli vada, masala dosa, rava Dosa, bowl of rasam, pineapple sheera, filter coffee, bottle of water for 260 only. It was very crowded at 8 in the morning with people from all over the city and we had to stand and eat. But mouth watering fresh food which tastes nothing like our neighborhood udipi restaurant. Must do experience in Mumbai
Serving authentic Tamil specialities, I have always loved going here. Now this place has shift and expanded to a bigger location nearby, with ample room and even outdoor seating.
The food itself is extremely tasty, fresh and yet inexpensive. Furthermore it's prepared fresh and served hot right from the kitchen.
Although I don't highly recommend 100% vegan restaurants, This one is an exception and a must stop place.
Also, the filter coffee is definitely highlight here.
Definitely, the best place to have soulful south Indian breakfast and snacks only at Ayyappan Idli.♥️
.
Ayyappan Idli has always been a renowned joint for Authentic South Indian menu. This place is full of rush during the weekend. They haven't compromised on the Quality and Quantity.
.
Outlet:
Comparatively a bigger outlet located near Matunga station. It has standing tables inside the restaurant and sitting arrangement outside. This place is pretty crowded throughout the day.
.
Service: Service s very fast, the staff is friendly and the cherry on the top is that you can have unlimited Sambar and chutney with the dish that is ordered..Food Quality:
No compromise on the quality, they have a clean kitchen and you get everything fresh
.
Name of the Dish : Mysore Masala Dosa with Filter Coffee and Medu Wada- Idli combo plate.

Shifted from its original place to bhaudaji road, and next to SBI bank, this place has become big now and proper place to eat, mostly standing though.Even parking is not an issue here, than previous place.
Any south indian traditional dish is to relish here
They have even started with NewAge dosas but u will enjoy few dishes which are rare to get in Mumbai.

Ayyappan Idli stall is one of my favourite places to relish South Indian food. This place serves hot and delicious Dosas, idlis and wadas. The chutney sambhar also tastes authentic and the service here is super quick.
There are some of my fav dishes from here.
Palak masala dosa
Cheese dosa
Mix veg Uttapam
Mysore masala dosa
Paneer cheese masala dosa
Idli Wada
All the Dosas are filling and tastes yummy.
Filter coffee is also nice here.
However they could have more sitting arrangements for elder people.
Overall it's amazing place for its quality and quantity. Will recommend it to everyone who loves South Indian food.
It's hands down one of the best south Indian food places around. The food is always served hot and in time!
Ordered tomato onion uttapam and dosas( over and over again over a span of 3 months). Never have the messed up with the taste/quality/ quantity.!
TASTE- 4.5/5
QUALITY- 4.5/5
DELIVERY SPEED- 5/5.
My only personal problem, I wish the sambhar was not sweet! The chutneys they have make up for anything else that's missing!!
A must try!
The good taste of South India. We often try their food. Normal idli is my go to dish. Old-style sitting and amazing food is their kinda signature. I tried their Ayyappan special dosa which was heavy and filled with cheese. We also tried idli podi (give proper instructions cause sometimes they cut the idli and mix with podi), filter coffee is a must try, and we had Medu Vada which were okay. Mysore dosa I tried in my previous visit which was also okay.
Ps. - parking problem in the lane and a petroling car moves to capture the photo of your car, if it's parked in no parking area. Be aware.

Amazing place to have a variety of dosas and idlis in Matunga. Ayyappan is known to serve different types of fusion Dosas. They also serve the authentic dosa.
I have always liked the food here. As I am a tea person, I have tea in many such places. I must say the tea is very good here.
Well, this time I tried thatte idli and Mysore Masala dosa. Both the dishes were very good in taste. The Mysore Masala dosa is different here. Also, the Sambhar and chutney were good.
It is a good place to have some street style fusion dosas in Matunga.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Ayyappan Idli, and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed! The Medu wada was fantastic, and I particularly enjoyed the green chutney and sambar that came with it. However, the real game changer was the red chutney, which took the dish to a whole new level of flavor.
But that's not all - the cheese volcano dosa was a delight to behold, with its impressive presentation and delicious taste. And the Ayyappan special dosa was also very good, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to creating unique and tasty dishes.
Overall, Ayyappan Idli is a great place to visit with friends and family. Not only is the food delicious, but the experience is also top-notch. And with free street parking, it's easy to enjoy all the restaurant has to offer without any extra hassle. I highly recommend giving this place a try!
One of the oldest places for South indian food.
A small restaurant with no AC and outdoor seating. Super taste as always. Have been visiting this place for breakfast since long now. Upma and butter/ghee tatte idli is one of the best items they serve. Best place for breakfast for south indian lovers
Very nice & Hygiene place, south Indian dish special, unlimited Sambhar & Chattni very delicious
Must visit to enjoy the authentic south delicacy. I tried mini idli and onion uttapam. Both were simply awesome. You are always served with piping hot sambhar which taste amazing.
Tasty Dosa are served but you might have to wait for a table. Prices are justified for the taste. They charge Rs 5 extra for packaging. They have good variety of Dosas but most of them taste same anywhere or in any other Dosa store in Matunga. They need to improve their service. Attitude of the waiters is bit rude. It is difficult to find spot for car parking. It would be better to go by public transportation or by two wheeler.
Ayyappan Idli in Matunga is the place to go for South Indian breakfast if you are in this part of Mumbai.
Amazing South Indian food and is rightfully popular for the amazing food at a price that is a steal. Despite the huge crowd, they turn around tables quickly. Do expect some wait on a busy morning.
Despite the high volume, the food is amazing and the service is prompt and courteous.
The seating is simple and functional and the hygiene levels are bearable. Definitely not a fine dine place.
Please do not miss the South Indian filter coffee.
Probably the tastiest South Indian food on a budget in all of Mumbai.
Will recommend - Thatte Idli, Ghee Podi Mysore Uttapam, Podi Dosa. Of course the regular Idli Wada Upma Sheera taste equally well.
The Sambar & chutney taste is perfect, balanced with the right amount of spice and tanginess.
Priced perfectly to ensure everyone can afford it, the hygiene factor is well maintained.
Ayyapan Idli As name says it's about Indian fast food cum restaurant outlet. I have visited 2nd time as taste is awesome all the time.its located nearly to King circle station or near from highway also. We tried their Rava dosa ,Rava idli they are best in taste. They also have various dosa including Jinni Dosa. Must try Lemon Ginger juice it's too good for digestion. It crowded between 7 to 9 pm . But people will wait or some just taken and eat it while standing.
Ayyappan Idli, located in Matunga East, is easily accessible from both Matunga Central and Matunga Road Western Railway stations, with a manageable 12 to 15-minute walk. The establishment offers a delightful culinary experience with a diverse menu featuring a range of South Indian delicacies.
The flavors at Ayyappan Idli truly stand out. The chutneys, sambhar, and red chutney served alongside the dishes are exceptionally tasty. Noteworthy items include their Ghee Podi Idli and Ghee Onion Uttapa, Thatte Idli, Mysore Dosa..etc which leave a lasting impression. The overall taste of all items is commendable.
However, visiting on weekends may entail a short waiting period, and parking can be a challenge on the road. Despite this, finding a parking spot in the nearby area is possible. The seating area is simple and open, but given the delectable food, the ambiance can be overlooked.
Service, unfortunately, is a bit of a downside. With only 2 or 3 waiters attending to 35 to 40 customers, coupled with the absence of a proper system and attendants in the cooking area, the service and delivery time may be affected. Nevertheless, the exceptional taste of the food makes the compromise on service more tolerable.
Ayyappan Idli :
Ayyappan Idli offers reasonable prices for its delectable offerings, making it a great place to enjoy a meal with friends and family. The surrounding area adds to the overall appeal, and despite the presence of numerous South Indian restaurants in Matunga, Ayyappan Idli stands out with its unique qualities and features. A must-visit for those who appreciate diverse dosas, South Indian snacks, and popular filter coffee.
Authentic South Indian cuisine, Dosa, idli, vadas... Self service. You can buy some pickles, snacks and coffee powder from the snack counter too!! A must have - pineapple sheera 😋 and a strong cup of filter coffee ☕. Right time to go is early in the morning.
Good south indian food like idli ,wada, uttapa.
Currently there is some construction work ongoing on the road due to which there is traffic jams but it might be over soon.
The taste was good .
Ayyapan is our all time favourite place for dosa and south indian food, we used to go Matunga from Worli, and it is worth travelling, all of the range are awesome, must have cocktail dosa, and junglee dosa, roast dosa is all good. Quantity of each dosa is very sufficient, 2 dosa is max for 3 persons avg. Appetite.
1) Mysore masala idli : The most unique idli preparation I have tasted till date. The masala in which the idli was fried was so rich. At the outset, one might feel it's a light dish. But believe me, it's enough for 1 person.
2) Pizza dosa: Perfect toppings. The cheese was properly melted. It had corn, capsicum and even anardaana. The dosa base was big and also crispy on the edges.
3) Coffee: No description needed. Its a South Indian joint and needless to say, they are expert in coffee preparation.
Great place to visit with family and friends. A bit expensive than what you normally but worth it
A very Inspirational entrepreneur , Panjuswamy. Had a good dialogue, with him . His focus , sincerity and sacrifice has paid off ! I found in him the qualities of a real Buddha a true human revolutionary
The place is very busy , dishing out steam hot idlis ( steamed rice dumplings) , varieties of Dosa ( rice pancakes) . At any given point in time , there will be atleast 50-50 people which shouldn’t put you off as there is enough and more space
Super amazing chutney taste and crispy wada is what I loved their Sambhar is also not sweet like usually love it do try and I am sure if you in Matunga I don't have to tell you you already know it's the best place to have Anna idle and wada😇😇
All the varieties of dosas are outstanding and absolutely amazing must try for it authentic South Indian dishes and Pineapple Sheera is very sweet and delicious the only thing which is missing is their air ventilation rest everything is perfect .
