A decent place to have south Indian food. Located nearby rcity at Ghatkopar west. Good quality stuff is served. What I would like to suggest is they can still enhance their chutney.
So have had everything on the menu. They have the best dosa undoubtedly and yes the sambar is yummy
The service can be improved thought
I have ordered Idli and Vada Both from this place. The Idli and vada were of great size. Quite huge. Sambar was also nice. Just the Chutney can be improved
Been here a couple of times.
Ambience fine. A little glitch at entry but food negates all negativitiy.
had dosa, Idli wada & bishi bele bhat all of them were good.
sambhar was typical manglorian style, less spicy and slurpy.
filter coffee over it was a blessing. had such coffee only in Chennai. this was a little sweeter.
overall a good experience.
service is fine.
Thambbi is my best place to have snacks and spend time with family and friends. My all time favorite place to have evening snacks like misal pav and batata vada which is perfectly in taste
This place is simple & hygienic. South Indian food is really good. Must try butter idli podi and the red chutney. Need to ask for the red chutney at times.
Thambbi is the good restaurant. It's located near Phoenix mall it serve good taste food. Best place to spend time with friends and family. I love there southindian food. We ordered mini idly. And idly rasam. Was very tasty and love by my family.

Good place to have good south indian food.
They have good variety of dosas.
Suggested Dishes: Pizza Dosa, Mini idlis, Rawa masala dosa, Coffee
Tip: The podi powder is not that good,so think before ordering podi items.
South Indian is all time favorite. I ordered dosa utapam and wada sambher , it was yummy. Authentic taste of South. Perfectly cooked and served hot and fresh. Delivery on time.
Thambbi is most relaxed and on the go place for me whenever Im in Ghatkopar and having a mood to eat South Indian food.
It is because of its relatively lower costs and the value the deliver in.
Ambience is decent, and service is really good. The best part about Thambbi is a food taste and quality. All type of dosas and uthappams sounds very tasty and the sambar and chuttney is just a awesome.
The items i usually eat here is Paper Masala dosa which is huge and sufficient for two people, Maisur Masala doaa. Banana chips are their specialty and it tastes better with signature Filter Coffee.
Apart from South Indian Misal Pav is a must try.
I've always ordered from Thambbi because their food is yum and hygienic as compared to other South Indian restaurants. I've tried the Idli, Mendu Wada, Sada Dosa, Rava Dosa, Utthapam. All of it is in good quantity and delicious. They also provide Jain Sambhar without which my parents are not ok. So, yeah go ahead and try them
This place is speciality for South Indian menu.
I've tried Idli Sambar, Masala Dosa, Medu wada at multiple times and I must say that taste is superb.
Batter is well fermented and hence idli is light and tasty.
They have never disappointed my in taste and quantity.
The rates are not too high and perfect for any budget.
Delicious and mouth watering no one compete thambi in dosa highly recommended masala dosa from thambi Sambhar is full of veggies freshly made
"A recipe has no soul, the cook must bring soul to the recipe." The South Indian food is variety of different recipes made from a single common ingredient. Here at Thambbi you get a wide range of dishes served Ranging from idli sambhar till filter coffee, each and every dish is mouth watering. Sambhar n chutney are very palatable and are served in Jain preparation. The restaurant is quite delectable and you can visit it with your friends, family colleagues also. I especially loved paper masala dosa from the menu. They also serve different Thalis. The place is worth a visit. Being a perfect place to have a yummy South Indian food it is quite budget friendly also. The environment here is very peaceful and pleasant.

Homely feeling. Small but great south indian place. Hot and good food. Sambar rice and filter coffee are really good. Parking issue but overall a decent experience.
It was a weekday in office and ordered some food for lunch as I liked the way they make their set dosa .
So therer 3 dosas made like a Uttappam as each dosa is stuffed with different things like 1 is stuffed with coconut , 1 with carrot , 1 with dhaniya which struck my attention . As at other places set dosas are always plain soft dosa’s .
However the sambar was too sweet( sambar is not made in a sweet way) , also did not like the chutney much.

Dear Management team, the food is always ossam in thambbi, please ensure the customers are happy... Incident happened with me is; on 16th Nov 2018 I have ordered a pavbhaji 1 butter pav extra, the order was no doubt on time and delecious, I have lost the bill and want to claim the money in accounts department of my organisation since it was for the company. The management at Ghatkopar outlet STRAIGHT AWAY REFUSED TO SHARE A BILL OF THAT DAY which should not happen. MR. CHARAN be polite to customers.
If you want it this way... Better talk face to face... Mr Charan has mentioned Mr. Shashikants name that he may resolve the query
Let's see what's the output

We ordered for two thali 1 masla dosa n 1 plain dosa
Good n hygienic place
N dosas wer tasty n crunchy
Thambbi been located in between residential and commercial area is always crowded by south Indian lovers. The ambiance is moderately impressive. The quality of the food and taste is typical south indian taste. The chutney and sambhar add more value to the authenticity. The service is quick. Overall recommended.
Location - 15 minutes walking from Ghatkopar Station and 5 minutes from R City
Food - Like usual South Indian outlets, the chatni and sambhar here are really good. Set dosa is the best I have had here but the utappam too is really good. Missal Pav is also worth trying whenever available
Ambience - Just a normal ambience and nothing extraordinary about the place
Service - Very quick and prompt, they do ensure the turnover rate is quick
Foodie Tip - Do try the set dosa, they are really good

Ordered from Thambbi and the taste was good. The packing was also nice. The delivery time was short. So no complains from my end. Decent for your south Indian cravings.
And that's Cheese Pizza Dosa from Thambbi Restaurant.
Trust me this was way delicious then the normal pizza we have at Domino's.

Well Thampi is a good restaurant if you want to have any of the vegetarian food. More precise it's a value for money in some cases.
Speaking about the service and ambience , yes it was quick and good.

Worth a ten mile drive in traffic just for the filter coffee. Other items being average this is more or less a coffee joint for me. Coffee is almost 40rs. Wish it was a bit cheaper but worth it nonetheless
We have ordered from this place many times through Swiggy and the food is quite tasty and fresh. The Rasam Idli of this outlet is better than the Kurla one. Also has very good butter podi idli. Definitely a good Sunday breakfast
The Food Is Awesome , The atmosphere is cool, The staff is also friendly ,The quality and hygiene is maintained , it's a very good place to visit with family and friends , so , friends do visit, i am sure you all guys will enjoy......

Goto place for Lunch in ghatkopar. crowded during lunch hours. Pretty good dosa's and they also serve Filter coffee. Mostly South Indian stuff, bbut they also serve missal, etc...
Spring Dosa is a must try.
Unique taste I would say, only a south Indian food fan can understand. They have a variety of foods here, the ambience was good, service was also good.. Fortunately I ordered chili cheese dosa.. I was more than happy to try that for first time 👍
This place has really nice South Indian preparations.
I would not call their preparations as authentic but they are good adaptations and have a fair amount of variety.
The food is good quality and tastes yum, only backdrop is ambience is nothing great. They have a old style set up where waiters go around shouting at one another but I guess that's justified coz of price.
I will rate the place as follow:
Food-4/5
Ambience-3/5
Value for money-5/5
Service-4/5( the speed is pretty good)
This is the restaurant located on LBS Marg. The Restaurant is purely known for its south Indian dishes.
We tried Paper Dosa, Tomato Uttapa, Idli, Neer Dosa. All tasted very nice. the sambhar was giving pure south Indian taste. Most recommended for south Indian dish lovers.
I always come here when i crave for south indian food. The filter coffee is my favourite. I also like the set dosa and pizza dosa. Always my go to place. 😎
Budget evening snack.
What i had -
Masala Dosa - The Dosa was crips and perfect. The bhaaji inside was seasoned nicely. It came off a bit too oily for my taste. 3/5
Idli vada sambar- The Idli was super soft and fresh. The medu wada was crispy nicely fried. The sambar is sweet sour and spicy in flavor. Not my favorite but will do. 3.5/5
Filter Coffee - I had come here the second time as they were not having it the firs time. I have had better filter coffee. This was too watery for me. I wouldn't recommend the coffee. 1/5
Pros-
Fresh dishes and ingredients.
3 dips with the dish.
Not that heavy on the pocket. Its ho-hum
Cons-
A bit less oil will be helpful.
Coffee is a big no.
Food here is decent. Simple and nice.

Located near Shreyas Cinema, this place is a gem. Im not very fond of South Indian food but since I had to eat something light we decided to eat here.
Food:
1.Chapati thali: It included rice, sambhar and a bhaji of lockey and dal which was damn tasty. It was like a wholesome diet and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The thali also included sheera (banana I assume) which made the whole lunch experience complete.
2.Rava sada dosa: Probably the most simplest form of dosa without compromising on it's flavour. It was crisp and the quantity was decent. Price- Rs 90
3.Mysore masala dosa: To be honest, I enjoyed the sada dosa better than this. The masala on the dosa didn't go well with the bhaji within. Price- RS 90
4. Filtered coffee: Decent. Quantity wasn't justified for it's price. Price- RS 36
Ambience: Average. I could have given this place a 4 if they worked a little more on it's ambience. Constraint of space could be a factor.
Service: Average.
Overall my first experience at Thambbi was good and pocket friendly😬. Would definitely visit them next time to satisy my "Dosa cravings".
One of the best restos to try South Indian sizzlers. The variety of dosas you serve is excellent in taste. My favourite is the paneer tikka as it’s too good and in great quantity. It’s equivalent to a meal
Ambience is ok.
Pure veg restaurant
Food is amazing
Fine dine in place.

Before reading this review, I would like to mention a certain disclaimer that I have been to Thambbi so many times now that I am biologically programmed not to say bad things about the place. However, I shall try my best to be fair and try going in as a fair food blogger.
Thambbi is a quaint little place near Shreyas Cinema at Ghatkopar West. It is easily missable coz of the trees that shade up the whole footpath covering up the signboard. Thambbi serves authentic South Indian food and for the price they serve, it is one of the best budget-friendly South Indian places that you can find in Mumbai that lives up to its promise of serving you with real South Indian food and not a cultural mix of here and there.
Here's what I have had at the place and what I feel like:
1) CHEESE CHILLI DOSA
It was okay, indeed. I feel THambbi could do much better in terms of Dosa servings. Their coconut chutney is, however, too yum to not ask for a second serving.
2) EXECUTIVE THALI
Served with Rice, Dal, Rasam, Aviyal, Papad, Kheer, Curd, Poori and Paneer Masala, this thali is really a blessing in itself to quench your homesickness for South India. They serve you Dal and Rasam unlimitedly without charging anything when you order the thali.
3) CHAAS
Yummiest one you will have in this part of the city.
Do pay this place a visit. Most likely you will end up seeing me chilling with the attendants. Don't come and say Hi. I am too busy (JK).
Food ordered from thammbi was awsum....we ordered from thambbi 2nd tym n food quality n taste was alwz gud.......i like it...................
This is situated on LBS Marg very near to RCity Mall. It’s a small restaurant with decent ambience but great taste for South Indian Food and good service. My favourite is Thali good option they also serve Pongal in that. Idli is all time favourite with awesome Sambhar.
Cost is very less Best place to visit for quick South Indian Food
Awesome South Indian Breakfast
Awesome food...
Prices are slightly on higher side...
Even though a South Indian restaurant it serve awesome Chass...
Located on traffic street ..elegant ambience ..service is slow
Breakfast for two costs around 150-200
A surprise on LBS Marg Ghatkopar.
Usually for South Indian food - it’s Madras Cafe or those oldies Matunga places. Udipi is convenience but was really surprised with Thambbi. Good Food, neat and hygienic place, good variety and only rescue in Ghatkopar West LBS Marg !
Must Visit
Nice south Indian joint...a good place to visit and have early morning breakfast...peaceful place with soothing atmosphere and quick service.
Simple nothing extraordinary but value for money. If you are craving for simple South Indian meal near area of Ghatkopar West, this is the place which you should visit. They have good versions of vegetable, dosas and idlis. Pocket friendly also as per our requirement which makes this ideal place to dine.
Hotel Thambbi is an Udupi food chain which has 5 outlets around Mumbai and a new one in Thane which is not yet listed on Zomato.
Thambbi means a little brother or also can refer to friend who is like a bro, so in this context it would be your friendly neighbourhood Udupi hotel serving you good food n beverages.
The decor is very simple n the place is not that big but it's good enough to grab a quick bite or two at a reasonable price.
Mysore Bonda: these are made from the same batter as other fermented items like Idlli, dosa, etc but has coconut pieces in it and few spices added to it to form fritters.
They were crispy but not too oily and tasted great with the sambar, coconut red chilli chutney n white chutney provided with it.
Medu Wada: an all time favourite in Mumbai and we expect it to be nothing but good in any Udupi hotel, which is also the case here.
Good crispy wada's and a great sambar n chutney were very nice on the palate.
Paniyaram: these are again balls made from the same batter as Idlli's and are steamed in special spherical metal moulds.
The steamed balls are then lightly fried on a pan or tawa and served with chutney.
Only authentic South Indian hotels serve this dish and it is worth a try.
Filter Coffee: a visit to any Udupi hotel is incomplete without the steaming cuppa of kaapi , the coffee here is near perfect and a must have.

Nice place to have south Indian food..
Had been with family..
Staff is okay..
Service is fast..
With very good quality of food..
We had Paper dosa, masala dosa..
Won't say it's authentic south Indian, but the closest you can get. Good dosa varities and filter coffee works in their favor. I'll definitely recommend it to someone who's looking for South Indian food but not in Chembur or Maatunga

If you are looking for some typical authentic South Indian food you have definitely come to the right place. They serve good South Indian food with a varied variety. Idlis, Medu wada and range of dosas....basically have tried it a lot many times now.
We visited here today afternoon for lunch. It is a good mid range south indian food joint in this area. We tried Set dosa and Andhra Dosa which were good. Chutneys served were specially good and had a bit of Gujarati taste. We also tried Pessarattu dosa, however it wasn't any close to the actual dosa it should be. So out of the 3 dishes, Set dosa was the best of all.
We also tried Lemon Juice and Filter coffee - and they were nice too! Nothing bad, nothing special.
My overall rating to this place would be:
Ambiance : 2.5/5
Cost : 4.5/5
Service : 3.5/5
Food : 3.5/5
A really good ambience, food was fine, the only issue was the delay in food serving as every dish ordered came at least 5-9 mins late. A good place for a small family dining but I won't recommend it for group gatherings or parties
perhaps the better of the options when it comes to decent south indian cuisine in this part of mumbai. what's good is the vast variety of options on offer. though it would be wise to stick with the tried and tested. look for the special dishes of the day. they are often well made and offer a dish which is not so commonly available. the prices are good and the thalis are recommended.
the place is often full during lunch and dinner times. it would be advisable that weekend visits be considered only if you have the time to wait for your turn {mostly takes about 20 minutes} to find a table.
the masala dosas, the idli vadas and the filter kaapi are good. can't say the same about the taste of the sambhar. the place is clean and the service is quick. the restaurant has multiple branches across the city if you like what you have experienced.

Tried pav bhaji, spring dosa and misal pav here. All three were good. Rates are not too heavy on pocket. Their thali is good too. Weekends are crowded. Reach early if you prefer not to wait.
Simple budget South Indian restaurant. This is the place to go when you are craving for some decently authentic South Indian food. Ambience seems to be cool with less ambient noise and distinct calm around. Staff is well mannered and service is quick. Overall a decent place to visit.

The Thambi caricature adorning the signboard of this quaint restaurant along the busy LBS always caught my attention.
This being at quite a distance from my office, i never really got a chance to sample the treats it had to offer.
Finally, a chance encounter through an impromptu lunch happened & boy, wasn't i pleasantly surprised!
Ambience:
A tiny setup with cramped seating, synonymous with typical south indian joints.
Steel plates, spoons & plastic cups. Minimalistic in terms of ambience.
A step up to the regular south indian restaurants though.
Service:
Prompt, no complaints. Busy during lunch times but the servers do a commendable job in being swift with their orders.
Food:
Haven't tried their meals/mini meals.. simply went in with the plain ol' south indian fare in both my visits - lipsmacking!
Even the sambar & the varieties of chutney were a perfect accompaniments to the meal (although the second visit did disappoint me on this front ever so slightly)
Our Order:
- Set Dosa: 3 delectable versions of set dosas
- Idli Vada: The good ol' south india fare
- Masala Paniyaram: Something new to my palette, not very impressed though
- Ruchi Dosa: A must have! a tangy spread to the crisp dosa makes it a delight to gorge on!
- Ragi Dosa: Slightly soggy, but pretty well done
- Andhra Dosa: A spicy andhra chutney spread - interesting
- Paneer Bhajiya: Perfectly done bhajiyas retaining the softness of the Paneer on the inside.
- Pizza Dosa: Cheese overloaded! Cheese lovers - this one is for you!
- Chatpata Dosa: Chat stuffed dosa.. hum ho!
- Spring Dosa: Chinese style dosa..hum ho again!
- Schezwan Dosa: Schezwan sauce spread dosa... hum ho!
- Rawa Masala Dosa: Pretty decent, but could've done better with the rava batter here.
- Andhra Masala Dosa: Better off having the Andhra Sada & the plain ol' Masala Dosa than this combo
- Paper Masala Dosa: The tummy stuffer! Almost covered the entire table in length!
- Dal Khichdi: A decent Thambi version - nice option for a change.
- Chaas: Wash it all down with this refreshing drink.
VFM:
If around 150 pax for lunch isn't VFM, then what is!
After having sampled more than 10 different items & filled our tummies, couldn't have asked for more
Repeat Value: Oh yes, most definitely!
Reccomendations: Ruchi Dosa, Set Dosa
Thambbi name says it all it is an south Indian restaurant. Good food excellent test good services i have order banana pakoda ( spl), onion uthappa, mysoar sada dose had a good snack day.
I've been to thambbi many times but writing review now. So this place is in one of the chaotic places of Ghatkopar. There are many new restaurant nearby but thambbi is like our OLD IS GOLD restaurant. I went here during dinner yesterday and the place is full so there was waiting but the waiting is for 5-20 mins maximum. They have special dishes made everyday and the thali is quite famous.
It's not a fancy restaurant but there's a south Indian touch to this place. I ordered medu wada, misal pav, veg pulav, veg kadhai and filter coffee. The food has a good taste and the quantity is satisfying. I wanted a thali but the thali was finished by the time we ordered.
This is the place if you're craving some amazing South Indian food. Been here a lot of times. The paper dosa here is the bomb! Yum!! Last time I tried their veg thali, which was so soo good, made me miss my days back in south. It's a tiny outlet, neat and quick service.
South Indian food is very good.
Also I love tea that they offer.
The place is nice and also the staff is very good. I have gone 10 times here and every time I tried multiple dishes. I loved most of them.
Recently ordered Podi Idli from Thambbi.
Podi Idli came with jain sambhar & chutney. The order when delivered was hot. Podi Idli was delicious along with sambhar & coconut chutney.
One of the best place to eat south Indian food. You must try Podi Itli here❤️

Thambbi, is a pure veg restaurant and serves South Indian, North Indian dishes. They have multiple outlets and are the ideal choice for delicious authentic, South Indian delicacies. Their sambar and chutney reminds you of the Chennai’s best outlets.
We ordered:
1)Idli Sambar : Soft, hot and fluffy idli was served with sambar and coconut chutney. Idli melted in mouth.
Masala Dosa: Masala dosa was served with coconut chutney and sambar. Sambar was delicious and tasted like Chennai's most famous idli outlets.
Sabudana Wada: Jumbo size crispy sabudana wada was served with sweet curd. It was delicious.
Punjabi Thali : Thali was served with 2 vegetables, dal fry, poori / chapati, biryani rice, chaas, papad and sweet. Thali was large enough for two persons. All the dishes in the thali were delicious.
Over all the food quality was good. All the food items are reasonably priced. The focus is on hygiene and safety.
They deliver clean, safe and contactless food items.
The service is good ! Food was delicious. Best south indian cuisine is served here.
They have various special dishes of the day Neer dosa is available.
Affordable rate of food items makes this restaurant a good place to have lunch or dinner.
The coffee wasn't that impresive on the name of cold coffee but rather than that item the food was very tasty.
The environment is very friendly and comfortable for friends and family.

Good Food and Great taste.
Value for money
South Indian restaurant with all popular menu.
Dosa is nice, but other dishes are not to the mark.
We tried Chole Bature, where Chole was very dry. It should be with little gravy.
And then irony was South indian thali was not available even at 8.30pm, which should be the obvious dish into menu.
Otherwise service and ambience is nice.
Recently visited thambbi for morning breakfast. It is my go to place when we family or friends decide to have good south Indian breakfast. Food that i ordered this time was
1: paper masala dosa- sufficient for 3-4 people
2: tomato chilli uttapam
3: cheese chilli uttapam- this one is my personal favourite
4: filter coffee
Visit to thambbi without having filter coffee is incomple. The best filter coffee they serve.
Very good ambiance with good taste so far and also good response by the staff
