The best ‘Undhiyu’ in Mumbai is available from a small shop in the old part of Bombay at C P Tank, Girgaum. A family-run shop in CP Tank has been brand ambassador for Surti food among Gujaratis from Mumbai to Manhattan for 81 years. These brothers serve the best Surti undhiyu, on this side of Surat.

It is one of the oldest hidden gem of our area Girgaon . One of our most favourite outlet to enjoy some lips smacking farshan during this festive season .
TheIr Batata Vada are just so different from anywhere else . Firstly they are miniature in size . Indeed a Spicy food lovers delight .
The second most tasty farshan of theirs which we tried this time was Patra . This one has an amazing flavor of its own .
Lastly one shall also try their kachori . This one has a fresh moong dal stuffing . Spicy and Scrumptious ...
All you farshan lovers like us must definitely visit this place .
Thanks for reading our review .

Happy Dessert Times until next time......
This place is known for its gujju food, their speciality being undhiyo which is made from fresh ingredients sourced directly from Gujarat. Normally I do not enjoy undhiyo too much, but I've had a change of heart since I've tried theirs. The undhiyo here is so tasty! I'm a fan.
They also serve really tasty best pav bhaji and masala pav. The best I've had in Bombay. The flavors are well balanced and nothing short of tasty. Must try, if you're in Sobo you can simply swiggy it.
Khaman lasuun amiri is good. Tea is machine made. Khandavi is good. Mung bhaji finished soon so go early. No parking is there hence go walking but go for sure.
Best place for Bhajji lovers! 10 minutes walking from charni road station, this jem was hidden to me for years. The variety & taste in snacks is good enough . Although place looks horrible it compensates that for taste. Try mix Bhajji and matar kachori for starter. I will surely come back for undhiyo!
Mr Mehta has been here for last 45 years serving the “best” undhiyo in bombay ( a gujarati savoury dish usually eaten with wheat roti’s or pooris). He has no complains, no big expectations, not a lot of fame and money.. but he is a happy man. He is loyal happy and smiling #mehtauncle#peopleofbombay#mumbai#differentpeople
Wonderful undhiyo. Must have atleast four times in season. Njoy. About undhiyo, not oilly or dry, vegetables look at you with smile, nice and fresh from owners farm from Surat come in flying Rani according to owners confession on why veggies look so fresh and smile. Have it.

One of the best place in Mumbai for great gujarati farshan & seasonal undhio. The quality , taste has never been compromised till date since decades.
Has seating & takeaway . A perfect holiday morning breakfast for of all ages.
If you want authentic surti undiyo.. then this is the place. Perfect taste!! Apart from this they make some good kachori too. The owner is very friendly.
Very frankly, I have been a customer of 'HKB' since a long time and much to the disagreement of some of my fellow foodie friends who've rated that place, I've never faced any concerns pertaining to the quality and taste of the food! Having said that, let me also add, that this is one such joint, which caters to the public at the ever-so-busy 'CP Tank' junction and serves some really tasty Gujarati quick food and especially one of better versions of the Surti Undhiyu [served with and without Green Garlic] (which is one of the many preparations available at this food joint, that keeps me wanting to back again and again). Yes, there is a lot of oil used in the preparation of the Undhiyu, but that's how the dish is prepared and mainly is consumed during winters, when our body needs the oil! However, if one requests, the oil content in the take aways can be reduced. I still remember visiting this place as a child as well on Sunday mornings and having to wait patiently for my turn to take my parcel of Undhiyu..
Also to add, I had once taken the Surti Undhiyu to my office (which was neatly packed and handed over to me.. More so, I had informed the owner that I will have to travel almost for an hour to reach my office and the owner reassured me saying that his Undhiyu is packed and sent even as far as Kolkata.. Pretty impressive!) and all my colleagues loved it and I was recently asked to get the Undhiyu once again!
Amongst the Surti Undhiyu, this place also serves very delicious Ameri Khaman (also known as 'sev khamani'.. being one of my favorites), Khandvi, Dhoklas, Methi Muthiyas, etc. However, the highlight for me is the yellow papaya chutney (the semi liquid preparation and not the dry one) which is best enjoyed with the paapdi and personally, I enjoy it with Ameri Khaman too! The only complaint being that this chutney is only available in the mornings and is replaced by a spicier red chutney by afternoon / evening!
Plus points: The taste of the food is the major and probably the only driving factor for this joint!
Negative points: For my foodie friends expecting a proper 'restaurant' kind of arrangement, they will be disappointed. This is primarily a place for 'take aways', however there is a small area provided for seating, which is available, just in case some one wishes to sit and enjoy the food there itself (but yes, the owner could try any better maintain, that area as well)
Rating:
Ambiance : 2/5@
Food : 4 / 5
Value for money : 4/5
Service : 3 / 5
Overall experience : 3.7 / 5 (my overall rating of the place is purely based on the food and treating this joint as a pure 'take away' joint!

Outstanding! Best Khatta Dhokla ever. Best Undhiya in Mumbai. The Green Garlic one in season is particularly good. All Undhiyu only in season. They run out of stuff early so order early in the day. I have only done takeout. They are extremely accommodating on the phone. Also do delivery if you pay the charges. Amiri Khaman is called Sev Khamani in Gujarat and is also very good.
If you thought Gujju food was all about sweet nothings, this is a place to bust the myth.In the heart of Mumbai's mini-Gujrat, stands a farsaan-house that captures the taste-buds of its Gujju patrons for their famous (calorie-laden) bhajiyas, Khaman Dhokla, Amiri Khaman, Fafda, Patra, Khandvi, Dhoklas, Gathiya, Bajri Vada, Methi Muthiya, etc.But the real superstar is their signature in-season Surti Undhiyu that's best savoured with a generous heap of green desi garlic.Pro tips: If the mere sight of oil makes you nauseous, you should run away from here as fast as you can NOW! Don't recommend eating here so get a take-away or call for home delivery.
This place is around 75 yr old. Every person living nearby or around this area knows about it because it is pretty famous for authentic Gujarati and marwari delicacies. The most popular dishes include khandvi, patra, dhokla, undhyu and jalebi fafda. People buy Surti undhyu and jalebi fafda by kilos on Sunday and special ocassions like dusshera, makar sankranti, new year. Methi bajiyas, samosas and all types of bhajiyas are famous here. It also has a side counter for pav bhaji and tawa pulao.
Its a very small place in a very crowded area... so very difficult to sit there and eat.
However, have taken Surti Undhiya parcel many times and it has always been fantastic.
Also, had amiri khaman, vati dal nu khaman, khandvi, papdi, patti samosa and samosa... all simply superb...!!!
Rating is only for the food quality !!! Really recommend trying the undhiya from here.
patra
undhiya
khandvi
and super bhajiyas is eenough
for a gujju bhai to fill in his tummy,.,.,
the bhajias he makes r very tasty and the taste has not changed since decade.,..,. ppl come from diffrnt corners of bombay to eat his bhajias,.,.,
they r neither salty nor spicy, they hav a standard taste .,,.,
its near cp tank n vp road at charni rd,.,,.,do visit this vintage bhajiyawalla ,.,..,.,
This place is located in a very crowded area and is frankly not worth eating there with really old and crowded almost claustrophobic interiors and smell of something frying perennially in the air.
However the place serves truly the best surti undhiya in Mumbai by a long mile. The other stuff like khandvi, bhajiya and all is decent (but then frankly I am not a big fan of bhajiya) but the undhiya is what really stands out.
Ingredients come from Surat by train daily and in season I am told the place sells more than 100 kgs in a day. Have done a takeaway from here many times and love it inspite of the very generous layer of oil decorating it!
Never went to this place but always got a parcel of kachoris ,alu vadi and khandvi from this place. All these three things are delicious but are very spicy with lot of oil
Place to sit in is very local type big big fans above ur head walls r old nt properly made but food is tasty staff is less bt good had jain pulav once twice both tyms very good👍✌
Ordered home delivery from Hiralal. The Undiyoo is a delight... Fabulously made. Perfect blend of sweet n spice. Maybe better than some home made ones... Khandvi was amazing too. Thin and perfectly done. Patra was well flavoured but I found it little hard..
The Undiyoo however wasn't as good as the once I had ordered before. Hardly any Papdi and practically no muthiya. Found 2 in 1/2 kg. All said and done a must try for sure. They make it on weekends all round the year. Mr. Gaurang, the proprietor is a wonderful person and ever so helpful.
Few words for the delivery partner Frosfeasts.com. Fabulous people. Mr. Kana is every so helpful with a deep personal touch. Very professional and on time delivery.
ITS THE BEST PLACE WHERE SURTI UNDHIYU IS AVAILABLE ONLY DURING THE WINTER SEASON. THE FARSANS AVAILABLE HERE ARE GOOD. THE DECOR IS TO BE NEGLECTED. ITS BETTER TO TAKEAWAY.
