A favourite to order from! Before you know it... it is at your doorstep and my doorstep is atleast 10 mins away by walk. Also a favourite for breakfast with their filter coffee! Totally basic place but they know what they are doing!!
Oh! After a couple of recent experiences in SoBo, didn't expect to get such value for money. Had their special thali, @Rs 190 for lunch and was too fill to eat anything till dinner. The variety in the thali is also amazing. Soup! Rassam, sambar, dal. One is spoilt for drink choices. Then 2 vegetables, another paneer veggie, 2 sweets as well!
All in all, worth going back and trying more food.

Good place for vegetarians and the one who loves to drink, near to KC and HR college good food,paper dosa must try one can not finish alone, cheese cherry pineapple is good one while having beer, south Indian dishes are best here. And upstairs alcohol with complmentry starters so students loves this.

This is office friendly place. We went with the office colleagues. We ate Dal khichdi, panner chill and some juice. The service is quite good. The ambience is also good.
This restaurant is situated at the end of Khau Gali, Churchgate. It's on the main road and one can easily locate it.
So it was the second time I went to this place for a light snack.
I ordered Mysore Masala Dosa, trust me the picture might not look so appealing but the taste was up to the mark. The Sambhar and Chutney we're really good. I found the dosa to be really good in comparison to what the famous places for dosas serve.
On my last visit I had Lasuni Methi, it was the first time I heard about a vegetable like that but even that is a must try.
P.S. I don't understand why the Zomato Menu doesn't have any mention of the South Indian Dishes they offer.

Food- quality & quantity is good. I have had their thali, panner makhani, rotis, panner chilli, etc. They have decent chinese dishes as well. Ideal for a quick meal. They serve alcohol as well.

Vihar is an unpretentious Udupi restaurant. Their paper dosa is picture worthy. The vada is freshly prepared, not soggy. The chutney is delicious. Service is prompt and friendly.

A conveniently located Udipi eatery located near HR and KC college. As an udipi restaurant they provide a huge host of options in the menu from the obvious south indian to the ever present Mughlai and to add some flavour a lot of sandwiches. He most staple item on the menu that’s flys to most offices in the vicinity in the afternoon is the Masala Khichdi. It is by far the most flavoursome khichdi I’ve ever eaten. The addition of spicies really livens the flavours, the best part though is the smoky aroma of garlic that rushes to you when you open the packaging. Overall a great place to grab some quick lunch or to grab a quick chai / coffee and snack before the long commute home.

Vihar is one of the best budget friendly in bars & restaurants category from the city. I doubt anyone else would give you this much of complementary sides with full portions at a price of just one large beer in all over the city. I just love this place.
And not the typical bar-resto. It's friendly for every age group, every demographic. The wibes are so friendly, lively and it doesn't matter if a group of girls and guys came or a corporate talks or even the family. This is all true. I've witnessed it evrytime i visit Vihar.
First visit is the memorable one as it was New Year's Eve. Year 2014. And after that, Vihar is one of the favourites.

We had gone to this place during lunch hours and ended up ordering a Thaali. The service is quick, friendly and very polite. The things were served to us as soon as it was getting empty, we had just called ones to place an order. Talking about thali, it was descent. The dal, rasam and sambhar were tasty as compared to the vegetables they served. From the sweet, moong dal sheera was a dissapointment
The best sambar that you can ever have in mumbai is served at vihar. It makes all the south indian dishes taste extra special. The daal-khichadi is delicious. Chinese and punjabi is mouth-watering. Paneer manchurian dry, veg crispy are specialities.

Spent quite a few years in Churchgate and frequented this one a lot. Extremely filling idli wada sambhar, nice dosas and pretty decent punjabi food too. They had an AC room upstairs where you can get drinks too. Easy on the pocket and friendly to the tastebuds. very recommended!
A small decent restaurant located in Churchgate serves amazing South Indian and Punjabi food. One of the pocket-friendly place in the area. Although it doesn't disappoint you with the quality of the food. Their service is decent. A huge variety of food, be it for Breakfast, Lunch/Dinner or evening snacks. Their Misal Pav and Puri Bhaji are a must try followed my their awesome South Indian Filter Coffee. All in all a budget place for a wholesome mean.
Good food n tasty as well; the rasam idly was a typical Tamilnadu style & quality of idly too was super. They have a good spread of dishes of all styles. If you were to be around Churchgate then this restaurant is worth a visit given that pricing too isn't that high.

Been here with my college friends for lunch. Nothing extraordinary about the ambience.
Had the following dishes:
Cheese Palak Dosa: It is to die for! Filled with spiced palak and gooey cheese, it was heavenly. 10/10 would recommend trying this!
Idli Rasam: Nothing different. Tastes fine
Methi Malai Mutter: If you're the kind who likes sweetish sabzis with their rotis, you should definitely try it! It comes loaded with peas and is enough for three ppl.
Veg Biryani: Another dish to die for! Mildly spicy, loaded with veggies, a bit oily but tastes really good. Comes with raita, do give it a shot if you like biryani.
Rose Falooda: We were full by now, ordered it because we wanted to end it on a sweet note! It was alright. Nothing unusual. My friend loved it though!
All the above amounted to 900 bucks. Pretty decent given the locale and the quality of food! Service is decent.

After scouting all other restaurants, we finally landed up here as the others had a waiting for almost half an hour. We found a table here.
The peculiarity of this place is that at the ground level there is a proper udipi veg restaurant and on the first floor level there is a permit room and a veg serving restaurant. This place is very popular amongst the lunch eaters as it is goes easy on your wallet and it is easy to get a table. The turn around time is very fast. Now for the food. We ordered for an onion rava Sada, a veg kofta, Dal Tadka and rotis. Food is decent. The only issue being that the kofta was a little spicy for my pallette. The Dal was good and the rotis were soft and fluffy. Decent place for lunch but not something you would keep going to by choice.
if looking for quick and tasty bite which suits d pocket vihar is the place to visit....don't expect quality as far as utensils are concerned... jain food available too
Close enough to Churchgate yet set back away from the regular crowds, this is a reasonably priced vegetarian restaurant with a permit room upstairs, going back decades. Situated on the ground floor of Moti Mahal building, I have always liked the basic cleanliness and decent food, especially the thaali meal.
The wait staff is very helpful, the manager is always smiling and overall one of those South Mumbai experiences that does not drive a huge hole in your pocket and at the same time provides you value for money.
Their idli dosa vada repertoire along with misal and pav is great, their sambar is proper South indian and their thalli, photo enclosed, at 120/-, is so much that even I could not finish it.
Sit downstairs in the non AC section and watch the world go about its business outside while you eat wholesome good food.

One of the few budget restaurants in mumbai that looks outright upscale and is spick and span! Service at the restaurant is also commendable and reminded me of home practically! We tried out all south indian dishes like appam, pongal, dal khichdi, paneer chettinaad curry... All of which were yummy! This place is a must visit!
Looked shady upstairs to my few friends but it isn't that much. Have never ordered for food there and always went for drinks. They serve you 4-5 stuffs complimentary along with drinks (Chakna) which would include tomato-cucumber salad, mint - coconut chutney (don't miss this one, it is super awesome, I mean if they don't get it for you, call for it) and some special dish like cooked masala potato or masala chana like the one you get at beaches and Papad.
The cooked dishes that is served as complimentary with drinks do taste really nice. Light on budget, good at service, decent at price. If couple of friends need to catch up for drinks, this place is what you must look for.

If you want to know how a good South Indian dish tastes like you have to eat here. After having stayed 8 years in Chennai, Hyderabad, Udupi you can take my word for it.

Very decent place to visit, famous for its lunch thalis. A reasonable restaurant u can find at the heart of city. Food tastes good and simple. Ordered a masala dosa, it was good. Just had Complaint regarding coconut chutney. It was too flat, felt like i am having smashed coconut and water. No spices in it. Nothing much to complain but nothing great to say about. Perfect for food during office hours. Light and simple without shelling much from your pocket.

Being an ex-student of HR College this place was really special to me. The Idli Sambar at this place is the best in Mumbai. Trust me I have had Idli Sambar at a lot of places in and around Matunga but this place beats them all. The punjabi food is really good. You would get a good service if you sit upstairs in the AC Bar section. Avoid the Chinese food. If in south mumbai on a sunday when all the family restaurants in and around Churchgate are really crowded, then this is the place you gotta go.

This restaurant is typical of the eating places in the Fort area. My recommendation is to stick to the South Indian section of the menu. It's fast, tasty, cheap, and has, in my personal opinion, some of the best Sambhar in the city.
It's usually packed during lunch time, and you should see plenty of students from the nearby HR and KC Colleges. If you're particularly thirsty, head upstairs to the AC section which serves liquor (or at least it used to).
Come here with moderate expectations and it's unlikely you'll be disappointed.

Love this hole in the wall restaurant! It's the old Udupi Restaurant at Moti Mahal, that serves authentic Indian food at a very reasonable price especially for South Mumbai. It's set up for locals so no need for the toffee nose expectations. Have completely enjoyed their masala dosa, rava onion dosa, Machu vada, dhai vada etc. Ive eaten here multiple times as a solo female - have always been treated well and never once gotten ill. If you want modern ambience, western style eating please find another place, if you want a local joint with excellent food that is reasonably priced- head on down!!
