A Gourmet Restaurant serving Vegetarian delicacies of indian Cuisine, ‘Panaaya’ meaning mirror in Chinese is the theme of the outlet. Located in Lower Parel, Panaaya has a beautiful interior adorned with mirrors of different sizes. The pretty lighting attribute to its exquisite ambience as well. The eatery serves the most simple and famous Indian dishes in the most artistic manner and might I add with such delectable flavors one can’t resist. Without further a do lets begin with the food that we gorged on. • We started off with Live Papdi Chaat . This was the highlight of the day. Though we were reluctant to order this, but we definitely would have regretted if hadn’t tried this out. What an amazing dish! Your very own street food, Papdi chaat was served in such a majestic way. From the chutney’s to the papdi and all the smallest of elements were plated right in front of us . we couldn’t have asked for a better finishing other than liquid nitrogen which added all glory to the dish. Taste wise WONDERFUL! We savoured it to the last bite. Highly Recommended. • Chole Bunny Chow : A South African food consisting of hollowed out toasted French baguette filled with their signature Chole Chat. Such creativity there. Our Indian Chole fused with South African Bunny chow. This cute looking dish was really good.Something you could try. • Chaupan Seekh Kebab with Apple Chutney : This was a quite spicy even though the apple chutney neutralized the spicy flavor. I was very impressed by the fact that these Seekh Kebabs were quite similar in taste to the non-vegetarian ones we have. • Cheese Munchies : Munch on your most appetizing Cheese Munchies at Panaaya. The best you could have in town. These Chinese cubes, bellpeppers, olives and spices rolled up in long tikkis are served with a creole sauce topped with crispy potato shavings are so relishing, you’ll keep craving for me. You have to try these out. Highly Recommend these since we couldn’t stop ourselves from ordering it again. • Vada Pav version 3.0 : Mini Vada Pavs presented in a very cute manner along with chillies were delicious. Something you should try out! • Tandoor Vatana Kachori : Though it looked amazing with regards to its presentation, but taste wise we didn’t find it so appetizing. The kachori’s weren’t like the authentic ones we find elsewhere. Not to forget most of their dishes had met our expectations and hence we were a little disappointed with this dish. Main Course : • Papad Kofta Curry along with Butter Naan: Great Quantity, great taste, perfect flavors and tummy filling. What else could you ask for in a main course. Loved each and every bite. Highly recommend this! Dessert : • Rasmalai with Sago Caviar and Rose Shavings : Rasmalai a famous Indian sweet dish had a very enchanting plating. Delightful to the tastebuds, I would definitely recommend trying this sweet this. As simple as it sounds, you will love it ! The staff here were very cooperating, down to earth and of great help. They helped us during the entire review from choosing dishes to order , to explaining to us each dish and the theme. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience here and would recommend it for friends and family ! Kudos to their Chef! Lovely job done here. We are Impressed .

Finger licking food! Courteous staff. Good ambience. The portion size is too small. That's the only thing I didn't like about the place. Chocolate landscape is a must have!

This place is located inside Raghuvanshi Mills compound, hence not easily noticed. We had Dal makhani, which was a bit sweet, along with Veg Hariyali which we had to have made Spicy and Roti which were fine. Also we had Panayaa special biryani which was quite good. Overall the dining experience was really nice, though the place was a bit noisy inside.

Panayaa - Modern Indian Kitchen, 2nd time Lucky. Trust me the Food is really good. Our first experience was a nightmare (not going much into the details) Ameya Mahajan has curated the menu, maybe a challenge for him but has executed it brilliantly. Maybe small flaws which can be overlooked but at the end of the day this Menu is a winner by mills. Presentation/taste/quality/quantity - you have it all. Just felt the pricing can be a bit of an issue but having a fixed clientele they would not bother if they get their food with their preferred ingredients. Coming straight to the food we tried from the NEW MENU - Hats off to Ameya - This is a vegetarians delight. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Soup - Smoked Rasam Dosa Crisp - Did not get much of the smokiness but got the hit of the southern flavours and the peppery touch. Nice texture and tasted good. Parmesan Cheese+Paprika+Croute - rich/creamy at the same time burst of flavours and aroma. Loved the Texture and the richness. Paprika hit was eminent. Overall good. Served with Maple toast. Starters: ------------ Tandoori Smoked Kachori - vegetarians will love it. So did me. Had that rusty look. Spices balanced. Topped with tamarind and mint chutney and micro greens. Baked. Good dish with a neat presentation. Chole Bunny Chow - Innovation at its best. Small bagutte scooped and filled with Chole (tomato/onion/spices/chat) semi dry. Looked good. Bread fresh (had the sheen) in house bakery. Topped with onion/Mint. Good dish. Live Papdi Chat - theatre at its best. Basically a Papdi chat with tamarind/mint/yogurt/tomatoes/onions/crushed Papdi/sev (nitrogen) remained crunchy/Topped with pomegranate/cilantro/mint. end result a good chaat. One needs to order. tangy/Spicy/crispy/sweet. Tandoori Paneer Naan Bomb - not a bomb ( spices were balanced perfectly) presentation and texture was lovely. Baby Naan scooped stuffed with minced Paneer/masala/spices. Overall a perfect starter. Loved it. Just got this perfect. Once they stuff its Tandoored. No oil. But had a lovely sheen. Topped with Mint chutney and thin slices of bell pepper. Veg Biryani Arancini Balls - arachini has become an INN thing in many of the restaurants these days. Here the chef has stuffed it with Veg Biryani. Presentation was good. Just fried to perfection. Crispy from the out/Gooey from inside bursting with flavours. You have a choice of mint chutney/mayo/Yogurt to choose from the plate to try it. done well. do order. Mains - Papad Kofta Curry, again innovation. Crushed papad stuffed with cottage cheese made into a Kofta with a bit of cream. Gravy a bit thick (good) was Yum. Cashew and onion gravy with cream on top garnished with cilantro. This dish is great. Dal Muradabadi - Moong/Masoor/chana Dal crafted to take you to the by lanes of Moradabad. This was good. Just missed out on a bit of punch unless this is how it is made locally. Goes well with the breads served (Naan/Paratha) Last but not the least - Vegetable Bhuna -Loved this, texture spices balance Kofta all done well. This is a typically tomato gravy based vegetable with Indian spices. Not runny - made Bhuna style dumplings of veggies fried well. Overall a good dish. Goes well with breads. Tried some handmade ice creams a spoon each. Loved the Paan and Chilli (there were 2 others which I did not try but was told it was good) Overall - as I said second time lucky. Love to be back if there is consistency in the food. If they maintain this food - this place will be known for a good vegetarian restaurant in that area. Go for it.

#FoodTastingInvite Panayaa - A Modern Indian Kitchen Staying true to its name, which means admirable or astonishing in Sanskrit, Panayaa brings to you shuddh shakahari food which is true to its roots but has a contemporary twist. The moment you step foot into Panayaa, the ambiance is all set to wow you. Warm, elegant and classy décor and a color scheme of white and gold combined with chic wooden interiors; Panayaa gives you a serene and pleasant vibe. The use of mirrors and odd shaped shelves simply add to the earthy tones of the place. Panayaa uses traditional recipes combining them with modern culinary techniques and presentation to astonish the senses of the ones eating it. It marries culinary techniques with molecular gastronomy however lets each retain its individuality. Mocktails As their alcohol license isn’t in yet, Panayaa offers some good looking mocktails to go with your culinary experience. Lovely flavors and vibrant to look at. Appetizers The Cottage Cheese Indiana [Rs. 375] had lovely, soft and tender paneer chunks marinated in some amazing masala while the Vada Pav v3.0 [Rs. 350] was the fine-dine version of Mumbai’s famous street food. However could do with some more stuffing. The Corn Bhel Maze Cornetto [Rs. 390] as well as the Chana Masala Wonton Chat [Rs. 325] had some amazing flavors. Lovely presentation, a good fusion way of showcasing classic dishes. #DeliciousDelicious The Nazakat Kumbh [Rs. 325] were tandoori smoked mushrooms stuffed with Indian spices and onions. The softness of the juicy mushrooms was complemented by the crunchy onion stuffing perfectly. #YumYum The Roomali Roti Italiano [Rs. 250] is the Italian version of the papad. Nice, crispy base with generous cheese on the masala papad flavor base. Mains The Panayaa E Khaas [Rs. 475] was a rich and tasteful cottage cheese dish marinated in rich masala laced gravy while the Kheema Kasturi [Rs. 450] had vegetables diced kheema style and added to caramelized brown sauce finished with kasuri methi. The Payanaa E Khaas looked every bite the khaas dish it was and tasted heavenly. However the Kheema Kasturi didn’t tingle my taste buds as much. Papad Kofta Curry [Rs. 425] had dumpling of papad stuffed with cottage cheese and chef’s special spice cooked in typical makhani gravy however the papad coating was a little too thick. The combination of Dal Tadkewali [Rs. 250] with the Makhani Biryani [Rs. 375] was an unexpectedly good one. The biryani was supposed to be gluggy thanks to the makhani gravy however it could've had more bite. But taking nothing away from the taste. Delicious to the last bite. Desserts Desserts at Panayaa are at their fusion best. The Mohanthaal Cheesecake [Rs. 450] looked pretty as a picture and had amazing flavors while the Chocolate Landscape [Rs. 590] brought out some good theater thanks to the dry ice. Unfortunately by the time the dessert was finally constructed, the components had lost some of their flavors thanks to being frozen for a while. The Panayaa philosophy is all about presenting the cuisine at its simplistic best, preparing delicacies using authentic ingredients, as they were prepared many years in the past, at the same time, adding an avant-garde element to the whole experience.
