Craving for seafood this is your place, Simple ambiance and good service you will find an easy menu with great taste. I will recommend this place for people who are into seafood do try crabs My parents are very fond of seafood. I ordered Crab Masala for them, the Crab was fresh, cook to the perfection, The best part was that the dish wasn't much spicy and had a balanced flavor. The curry has nice blend of coconut. It is a thick curry. As the name says the Malvani Style; Bombil fry is a must to have here.Bangda Tikhle was wonderful, it was delicious, My Father enjoyed his meal.
I loved the food here before the Lockdown. The fish was fresh and the wade were nicely made.
My father took us for a family dinner date and it was worth it.
If FISH is your weakness then this is the place😋. Hidden place in dadar for authentic malvani food❤️. Search for good sea food ends here atleast when you are in DADAR...!!

मी फकत पोटाचे चोकले पुरवत नाही जिबेचे पॅन पुरवतो".... found this joint while Exploring the streets of Dadar.... They are know for there thalis whether chicken, mutton or fish..... They serve variety of fish fry.... The quality of fish is really good.... The Ambiance is decent and peaceful..... There is rush but it's now crowded...... I tried prawns fry 4/5 the prawns was really fresh.... I also tried chicken fry 4/5 it was tender and juicy... The spices used were spicy..... Would definitely like to visit this place again to try there thalis
Maharashtrain food . Fresh meat and fishes placed. The bhakri was also very soft and yummy. Solkadi is also aussum.
I have been here more then once for having special and traditional n typical malvani food the fried fish and chicken and fish thali and speciality is for chicken wada
I went there with my family. I would recommend going there sometime before the open. The waiting increases afterwards till 1hour. I ordered for Mutton Thali, Pomfret Thali, Chicken Thali (All Thali accompanied with Rice and Chapati), Bombil Fry and Prawn Fry. To begin with Mutton and Chicken were very well cooked and the masala was marinated well enough with the pieces. Pomfret Fry was something you would order more and more. It was fresh, crunchy and juicy. Also Solkadi is my personal favorite.
Malvan Katta is a very nice place if u want to have authentic malvani food and if u are a fish and non veg lover. Surmai Fry is very good and a must try. Chicken kheema is not that great. The rice bhakri is so good nice and soft. Another thing we tried here was the prawns rice which was very good. Had all the flavours coming in. And last but not the least one must try the Solkadi which so refreshing. They offer thalis or single dish whatever u like. The staff and the owners are very kind and polite. The ambience is not that great but decent. Overall it is value of money. 4 people can easily ear belly full in under ₹1500.
If you are looking for some non veg malvani food or seafood and somewhere around dadar, you should definable go to this place! It’s a home like place where they serve malvani thali! You should definitely try their stuffed pomplet! It’s the best best fried fish, that they serve with chutney filled inside it! Something worth trying! The ambience is again very normal, homelike, but food is worth trying! :)
There are very few restaurants which serve authentic Malvani food and Malvan Katta is one of them. This is definitely a hidden gem in the busy area of Dadar. There is not much hype created about this place but the food which they serve is mind blowing.😍
🌍Location: It is located near Swami Samarth Math, one of the prominent places in Dadar which is usually crowded.
♈Ambience: There is not much happening with regards to Ambience you can see pictures of Malwan and few lamps on the wall. The entire place is very immaculate. There are two different sections the AC and the Non AC. The place heavily crowded on Sundays, Wednesday and Friday and you have to wait for around 15-20 mins untill your turn.
❇️Food: They have a host of options in fish as well as in thaali.
We ordered
✳️Chicken Thaali🍖🍗
The thali comprised of Chicken gravy along with Rassa(Tambada),Solkadi and Vade. You can choose the bread as per your liking. The chicken was cooked in typical Malwani style which was scrumptious. The vade served along were crispy and perfectly went well with the chicken.
✳️Mutton Thaali🥩🥓
Equally delicious was the mutton thaali. The other items were similar to chicken thaali. I would like to specifically mention that the mutton gravy was delicious and the mutton was very well cooked. The Solkadi served along was very thick and tasty.
🔶Although the service is a bit slow and you have to wait a little but as it is said "All good things comes to those who wait" in this case it will be "All delicious things comes to those who wait".😋

We were just roaming around this area and wanted to have malvani food for dinner. As gomantak had too many people waiting outside we found this restaurant on Zomato decided to go there. This place is like a home only in which they serve tasty Malvani food. We ordered chicken suka and prawns tawa fry, usal and bhakari and wade. Then we ordered solkadhi and chicken pulao. Everything was tasty especially solkadhi but they served it at room temperature so 1 point less for that other wise it was good experience. Staff was friendly and service was quick as well. If you want to have malvani food in homely atmosphere then this is the place for you.

1 should try surmai fry, bombil fry and pomfret fry with bhakri. Gravy was good.
Go for the fish love .. super homely food .. ambience is simple which makes the food more of a grandma-made-thing. Chiken is nt recommended. Fish thalis are worth it !
Authentic Malwani food! They feed you like your mother, they'll spoil you with both Taste and quantity, only for you to wanting to go back again! Such a homely feeling with amazing diner service, helpful and honest staff. Definitely try their Prawns Biryani but beware, there might be an explosion on your tastebuds and your mouth might love it ! Any of the Fry's and gravy's are worth another infinite visit to this place. Kudos to the chef !!!
I actually am biased towards seafood and this place has one of the best and most fresh seafood available on its menu.. so malvani is anyway one of my fav cuisines and this place excels in it totally. In addition to the fixed menu, they have a daily menu that's to look out for. And don't be disappointed cause there are days when things mentioned in the mail menu will also not be available. They concentrate on the fresh catch of the day and don't believe in serving frozen meat. Also do expect a queue whenever you arrive, I've never got a table right away here.
Coming to the ambience, a simple place that ideally fits into the definition of GHARGUTI (just like home).. the food is humble and moderately priced but there's no compromise in the taste. The masalas are always perfect and the consistency of the gravies is perfect. I've visited the place several times and had the fish thali, prawns pulav (kolambi bhaat), bheja fry, crab masala, they make soft bhakris and crisp vade.. the mutton sukha and chicken masala have never gone wrong in case you're not sure of the seafood.. don't skip the Sol kadhi (soul curry) they make it really well.
Food is very good in quality bt shuld definately look out for quantity...especially in chicken biryani...The Next time i would visit we would definately try for promphret fry its too good...
Awesome Malvani thali. Try solkadhi for sure. Clean place and more of homely touch. Go for an experience Malvani food.
Bhakri, Thali, Solkadhi

A friend insisted I try this place to cherish my new found love for malvani food! This place serves food enriched with authentic malvani flavours. Known for its fish Thalis and chicken preps, I ordered chicken masala and sukka! Both were amazing with respect to taste, texture and quantity! Sukka does have some thick gravy so it's not totally a dry prep. You can have both these dishes with pav too as the masala has a little runny consistency. They generally deliver if your order is Rs.300 or more!
This is a superb place to visit, it serves you authentic Maharashtrian food which is really tasty and the cost is comparatively less and the quality is great. It is a good restaurant for family dinners and the Ambience is good, you have to wait in a queue because the hotel is almost full every time I have seen. Overall it is a best place to have non veg in authentic style.
This place is excellent. I loved the food so much. This place is worth of everything. No compromise on taste and quality. Satisfaction at it's best. Service was excellent. I'll suggest everyone to visit this place.👌❤️
Food is too Good. Taste was excellent. Authentic malvani food at very reasonable price. I ordered Surmai Fry Thali... It had 2 Big Fish Fry Pieces with Fish curry ( Goan Style) , also little Sambar, with Bhakari / Roti / Vade ( As per your req.), some dry Chuttni, Rice and Solkadhi....All at just Rs. 310....which is freaking awesome.... Staff is also good...
But to get a seat their u need to have patience... Since it was Sunday... It was heavily crowded but they manage it properly.. But after all its Worth..
Thanks to Acharekar Family.
The best place to have sea food in dadar... Fish is always served fresh n quick service given
Very famous in dadar a small place but food is amazing ❤️
Ambience 4/5
Food 5/5
Service 5/5
Today ordered lunch and the burka masala was just great.. even their kolambi rice is decent.. must try is Amboli
Fish thali, surmai masala chicken sukka and sol kadhi. These are the must try items at Malvan Katta, a small eatery located at DL Vaidya Road close to Sena Bhawan, Dadar.
The authentic setting (with a giant fish net to set the mood) is perfect place to savour true malvani cuisine. The service is super quick and the price economical compared to other nearby outlets. Go there the next time ur in mood for fish fry malvani style!!
soft, fresh and yummy ambolis!!
Food - 4/5 - Good food at first time second visit was not so good was very disappointed with the quality and the taste
Service - 3/5 bit slow service
Ambience -3/5 - not a big place limited seats
One place a sea food lover should never miss. Food quality and freshness of fish is just amazing. Try to go there early to get your best catch before it gets over. All fish fish fry’s, Solkadi etc are great, Zawla bhakri also has astonishing flavours. I would not recommend having chicken here as you should not miss out on something that they are best in making. Not that easy to find the place, but yes once you find it, you end up going there quiet frequently.
Malvan special
Malvan Katta small restaurant located at dadar they serve excellent malvani food tried fish thalli surmai, pomfret, prawns fry it was good though gravy there was no salt, fish prawns were fresh.
They have limited menu
All over dining experience was good
delivered fast but there was no gravy which was mention in bill.
Been to Acharekar's Malvan Katta in Dadar West on 27 April 2018 with a friend.
The restaurant is located in a residential complex and seems to be in a flat.
It seems they have two rooms and one was kept shut until one filled up.
We went to the open. I ordered for surmai thali (Rs 310) and my friend ordered for chicken dry (Rs 195) and ghavne (12 each).
Surmai Thali contained 1 medium slice of deep-fried rawa-coated surmai, 2 small finger sized mandeli one mild coconut based orange gravy and one pinkish gravy which I failed to identify. It also had 2 chapatis, a tiny bowl of rice and a tiny bowl solkadi.
Extra chapatis is charged at Rs 8, Rs 30 for extra rice. Surprisingly they even charged extra Rs 20 for a plain rassa.
Chicken dry was coconut based and semi wet and contained just 3 pieces of chicken with bone.
The thali seemed to be on the costly side bot overall everything tasted nice.
But despite being very hot the restaurant refused to switch on the ac. Ac is installed but was switched off.
Over all was satisfied.
Loved the variety of fish and the preparation is pretty authentic, trust me I went with my Maharashtrian in-laws :). Had one portion of everything on the menu prawns , pomphret, surmai, Bombay duck, mandeli and chicken sukka. Ambience is pretty homely and recommend only if you are not fussy about the decor of the place. Staff is courteous and do not bother you with house specials. Infact I took the menu myself since our server was busy. Overall 4 stars. Pradnya Pinto Prasad Pravin Parab
Very much yummy food. Feels like home. Whenever I feel like eating fish I visit this one and only resto. So lively. And best seating arrangement. Best staff. Dish is served within 10min. Afforable and right rate of price for every dish.Want to eat fish ? Go for acharekars🔥♥️
Delivery received before time ! good service !
Who wouldn't want to eat at a restaurant where there's a board that says "The owner also eats here"? Crab thali was amazing and so were the fish and prawn thali. You have a choice of eating your thali with chapatis, rice bhakri or rice and a second helping on these. Overall, I dont mind going another time to try something else...
located behind Sena Bavhan,Look and feel of the Setup is Decent .Could not Get a table in Afternoon ,There was waiting ....Had to make a choice of Taking the Food Parcel ....Malwani Chicken Curry : Coconut flavour to start with Right blend of Masala ,Perfect Smooth gravy with Chicken Curry cut pieces ....Had to take sukka Zavla(Dried baby shrimps ) :Awesome ,Such a simple dish with Loaded of Power pack flavour ,If your are an dry seafood lover....Awesome Food....Next time around I be patience enough to wait and try the Thails ....
Malvani food chi majja ghychi asel tar nakki malvan katta madhe bhetel l like it food. Fish carry crab 🦀 masala macral fry pomfret fry and clams very very nice food.
Tnx. For service and nice place.
The food that they serve is very homely and authentic.
As the dishes are prepared in Malwani style, they are a little spicy than the average food.
Their Surmai fry and chicken keema are a must have.
Yesterday we're at this restaurant...They served very good food. Awesome taste...if looking for authentic malvani food, must visit this place.
I came here on a weekday for lunch maybe that's why there wasn't a much of crowd. But if you are going here for dinner I would recommend that you pre book your table.
Food: 4.5/5
It does justification to its name. It's indeed a treat for all the Malvan food lovers. We ordered a surmai thali, a pomfret thali and prawns masala. Each thali included 2 chalatis/ 1 nachni bhakri(ragi) /1 rice rotis + 1 fish + 1 curry + 1 dal bowl + 1 rice bowl + 1 bowl solkadi.
The size of the fish was big enough and was fried crisp. Do try the solkadi as it was very tasty.
The prawns masala had a decent quantity of prawns. Enough for 2 people.
Ambience: 4/5
As I said earlier there was not a much of crowd during the afternoon. It's a great place to come with your family or friends.
Service: 4/5
The waiter service was quite good. He was one who suggested the prawns masala. The food came within 5-10 mins.
Cost: 4/5
The thali costed around 325. Overall the bill was around 800 for 2. Which is quite reasonable given the cost of sea food.
"Neeta Acharekar's Malvan katta"
This restaurant is located Behind Shiv Sena Bhavan (Shivaji park). Kindaa hidden place in dadar's lane... Very much homely ambiance.. owner has tried his best to modernize a little. Don't expect HiFi interials and crockeries....
If you wanna try authentic Malavani food then this place is one of the best stop for you. They have speciality @ seafood preparation. Fish quality is Best, Most of spices which they used are home made and specially made by The Shafe 'Neeta Acharekar Kaki'. Very much neat, clean and hygienic place. *"Restaurant owner also eats at the same place"* This place I'll surely suffice your seafood crawing. Very much homely made food.
Well known place in dadar. I can bet this place is anytime better than any of the so called malvani joints in dadar and surroundings. Also very much pocket friendly, next day you won't realised tummy is stil pack with full of non-veg and artificial spices... I would definitely give 8/10 for food.
I have had almost everything which is @ menucard and all are the Best @ taste... But still I would like to suggest , bombil fry(ask them to make it lil cryspy) awesummm😀😋😋, crab masala, mouth leaking stuff pomfret, pomfret masala, gavrnaan chicken, ghavanaa , and much more...., Must try solecuddi after your meal. They don't serve deserts as such.
As I mentioned restaurant is well know for it's food quality, most of marathi drama and cinemic celebreties and political giants do visit here. So don't surprised if you find one around you while dinning...😀😜...
Acharekar’s Malvan Katta is verg known place for non vegetarian food specially in dadar area. If we talk about ambience its not that good. Its small restaurant but food you get here is yummy as hell and you gone love it for sure. Speciality of this restaurant is the owner herself cook for costumers who visit their. Stuffed promflet is one of the known dish here. Its basically promflet fish stuffed with lots of mixture and spices inside the fish and then it is deep fried. If you are fish lover you gone love it.. Other than this dish you can also try prawns tawa fry which is too crispy and yummy. Here Quality and Quantity both are fulfilled.
Excellent seafood & value for money..we ordered surmai thali it was fresh & tasty.
Do try bombil fry which is extremally good.
Place is bit small but dosent matter.
A very hidden place in the lanes of Dadar.
But the food here makes it very special.
You will get difficulty in finding this restaurant.
But take help from lacals & you will be there.
When I was first time here by looking at this place I wasn't sure about the food taste.
But this place proved me wrong, this is indeed a very good restaurant for seafood & malvani food in a area like Dadar west where gomantak is there.
In my opinion this place is a bit better than gomantak.
If you want to try something different then you can visit this restaurant for homely food & hygiene. Menu is same as most of the malvani restaurant have.
great place to try authentic malvani food. though the place is a bit small it is worth giving a try. do order wade sagoti with sol kadhi. you can also try delicious sea food.
This is a small but clean restaurant located one lane behind Shiv Sena Bhavan in Dadar. So basically if you are coming from Mahim then take the left at the Shiv Sena Bhavan signal and then take the first right and drive for 30 seconds ( please check if the lane is a one way ) and the restaurant will be on your right.
The restaurant is small but clean and the crowd is mostly decent families so you can safely take along females and elderly people.
Coming to the food, I ordered the pomfret fry thali which is a limited thali that came with Rice, Chapatis , a small whole pomfret fry, fish curry and a preparation of pulses. I also ordered a bombil fry ( Bombay Duck ). The quantity is enough for 1 guy with decent appetite. The quality is excellent. The pomfret fish was extremely fresh and well fried with superb flavour. The curry had excellent flavour and texture. The chapatis were soft and fresh. Rice was well cooked. The bombil fish too was fresh but was not deboned and had a bit of extra oil. The service was polite and fast. The pricing is reasonable and easy on the pocket. Overall a good place to visit for fresh fish preparations.
I visit first time in Malvan katta simple restaurant ambiance also not to much but good staff also polite i order for 2 thali mutton thali good quality and quantity also and also order for bombil fry but this is too much oili.other wise good experience menu aslo short and simple.😊
Awesome food 😋😋 don’t miss it .... full to Malvani ... fresh fish and delicious chicken 😋😋 one of the best discoveries I have made since long time for non veg in Dadar ..... Surmay prawns pulav paplet fry must try .,,
Authentic Malavani cuisine give your taste buds a fresh sea food treat. Bheja Fry (Dry), Jawala Bhaaji, Prawns Masala, Gaoti Chicken, Rice Bhakari & Solkadhi was delicious & freshness food they serve, staff is friendly overall a good experience.
Had been here long back, a couple of times before and recently, on last Sunday I visited this place. The place hasn't changed much. The food was delicious. Supremely amazing. Ordered for two chicken thali- one sukkha and one with gravy. The chicken sukkha wasn't really sukkha, it had a thicker gravy. The other was thin, watery gravy. The taste was amazing, a little more spciy than I can handle but worth it. Ordered for prawns taba fry, it was not that great. The batter was a bit too dry. But overall a great experience.
Food was good especially fish dishes, mutton dishes need to be spiced up.
Overall a good meal , ☺️
Tasty meal. Quiet and less crowded, clean. Not easy to reach in car. Better to walk from Shiv Sena Bhavan as this place is in the lane
Good place to have malvani fish thali. Service was quick and food was also good. One thing I didn't like was that the fish fry was deep fried and not shallow fried, so i could not enjoy that much. The overall experience was good.
This place is right in the heart of Dadar TT, the location is very tricky as it is situated in a gully. We were lost twice while looking for the main entrance as the road works are also on at the same time. The atmosphere is vere complex but the staffs are very friendly and welcoming. The food quality and the quantity is also very good. We tried prawns thali and chicken thali and both were delicious in taste. I would highly recommend this place for the seafood lovers.
Good food with good ambience and very much peaceful place in the heart of Dadar
लाजवाब.. Delicious.. the words are not enough to express the taste of the food. The real Malvani food..with the perfect blend of flavours you'll find here. The sea food with spicy taste.. just imagine.. chicken & mutton dishes.. sea food dishes.. खवैयांसाठी अजून काय पाहिजे.. 🍗🦀🦐🐟🍝🍛. The ambience is nice and the service staff is also polite.
If you are a real sea food lover you must visit this place. 🤩😀😍
Best place for seafood. I tried surmai thali & it was delicious. Perfectly cooked with moderate oil. The quantity is also satisfactory for the charges. Totally worth the money. Must try👍🏼
Visited this place for dinner. The place is a little difficult to spot as it is in one of the bylanes. Had ordered Chicken sukka and Wade. The quantity of chicken is good for 1 person. Taste of the gravy and chicken quality was good.
Did not try their fried fish but will definitely recommend for chicken or mutton.

One of my personal fav places for Malwani / goan style food .!
Their fish is always fresh and the dishes are always too tasty .
So try for a great food experience
It was my cousins first visit in Mumbai and sea food was must. So, I took her to Achrekar's as this is one of the best in Mumbai for truly malwani food.
We had crabs lollipop, prawns masala & surmai fry thali. We liked the prawns & crabs lollipop more than the fish & I would say the prawns masala at Achrekar's is a must try
Expect a nominal waiting time of 15-20 minutes (on weekends/holidays) before you head inside for a homely and tasty meal of seafood and solkadi. This place is inside a lane behind the Shivsena Bhavan (google maps will help). The bombil fry, surmai fry, ghavne and prawn masala were superb. One portion of each will be good for two healthy adults. Parking may be difficult to find, use public transport.
I was visiting Mumbai after 4 years and my friend took us here for dinner. We ordered bhakri, surmai, prawn, mori masala and bombil fry. Bhakri was so soft and even after being fully stuffed could not resist ordering one more. Atmosphere/ambience is basic but food was great. We liked the prawn and surmai masala more. Also it is the kind of food one can have everyday and not oily/greasy or something which makes you feel bloated.
Hoping to visit this place again on my next Mumbai trip.
We went here for the first time yesterday for a early dinner. The restaurant is inside the lane next to Shiv Sena Bhavan. The food was delicious we ordered the prawns fry, chicken sukka, tisrya sukha with some bhakri and vade. Everything was delicious and the fish was fresh. The tisrya sukha was prepared in Black Masala and it is a dish that you will go back again for. We ended our meal with prawns pulav which was mildly spiced and very enjoyable.
