Bawarchi is a family restaurant with bar incorporated it, is located just opposite G T hospital, next to Kamat restaurant, in Crawford market area, CST. Even though, there are many restaurants present with same name, this is a stand alone restaurant with no other outlet. I had been there longgg time back, during my college days, and after so many years, went back to same place again.
The place has been renovated in quite a big way since then, and has ground + 1 dining area. This gives plenty of space to accommodate large crowds during rush hours of weekends.
The ambiance is descent, simple and calm, leather sofa cushions, curtained tables and soft yellow lights hanging over head to give the place warm feel and complete place is Air conditioned, mirror studded walls on either sides gives a place nice touch as well.
My parents were bit skeptical about this place at first, being more of mughlai restaurant, than north indian restaurant. But, as we went along in our dining experience, by end of it, the opinion changed completely.
Our starters had combination of both veg n non-veg dishes, sweet corn soup, Veg spring roll, chicken tandoori n fish tikka. Hot pipingly served soup, crunchy corn kernels, spring onions and yummy soup. Veg spring roll were nice, crispy on outside, perfectly binded veggies inside. Chicken tandoori was much better than expected, fresh chicken pieces, roasted grilled in tandoori masala and had yummy spicy flavour and mouth watering texture to it. Fish tikka, was Rawas fish, soft, moist fish fillet blocks coated and grilled in tikka masala, and warm, mouth melting.
Then came main course, in veg side, vegetable korma sabji and tandoori roti n naan. Its been ages since I had this sabji in any restaurant and my choice was thankfully spot on, as my parents actually liked the vegetable very much and went really well with warm, soft naan n rotis. In non-veg, we chose chicken lazeez, a thick n dry boneless chicken gravy, long cut chicken pieces, cooked in spicy capsicum n tomato based masala. Other dish was prawns masala, tiger prawns, in brown onion tomato gravy, medium spicy, n had ting of sweetness to it, prawns well absorbed in gravy as well.
To accompany this, a sea food side dish if you could say, Surmai tava fry, a big surmai piece tava fried in spices n masala, crispy on the outside, still retained moistness and softness inside, spices well coated in absorbed by inside layers.
The only mocktail we had ordered to go along was, blue carcao, combination of curacao, lemon n sprite, if I remember well.
To end our meal, idea of desserts started off with Kulfi, but we ended up having multiple kulfi faloodas, kesar, mango n rose. All of them were equally good, all served as faloodas n topped with individual flavoured ice creams.
The staff is very polite and quick to respond, delivery is not very fast, but prompt and descent, so no complaints there. Prices are surely on higher side, but each of those dishes from meal course we had, were definitely worth the price and justified.
Do visit the place at least once and experience this food and experience once,to enjoy nice family dinner or friends party here...
