If you wanna try authentic maharastrian food this place is must try. I have tried batata bhaji, alu vadi, kothimbir vadi. Upwas menu is also really nice.
The food is really tasty, amazing and at really affordable price. had great experience here.
A good place to have light Maharashtrian snacks at any time.
Authentic Maharashtrian cuisine.
Sabudana khichdi, Misal, Farali Misal, Kothimbir vadi and piyush are the must try.
Here dishes have authentic maharastrian taste and its delicious. i ordered dahi misal, bhajani thalipeeth, karwand sarbat (good in taste).
i had good experience
A place is a must visit of Maharashtrian Cuisines such as Misal, Thalipeeth, Upma, Poha, Matarkaranji. Must try dishes include Sabudana wada, Thalipeeth in Snacks and Kharwas in sweets. Very clean. Simple people simple food. It is a self serving restaurant.
A great Maharashtrian food place. Their sabudana wada is one of the best. Everything I have had here was of good quality and good taste. Misal pav, tea, poha, Puri baaji all are good.
Typical food with super amazing taste is commendable. Everyday breakfast place. Rolls highly recommended
Amazing Maharashtrian Naashta! They serve very good vada usal, sabudana vada and thalipeeth! Service is quick and they have decent seating arrangements so you can kind of eat on the go! Prices are decent. Good option for morning breakfast.

Clean & tidy place, polite staff, fast service, but with limited seating arrangements because of which you may have to share the table. Ordered the misal which consisted of papdi, farsan, sprouts & spicy yet tasty gravy. Taste was great with a blend of the farsan, sprouts, chopped onions on top with a lemon on the side and the gravy giving hints of well blended spicyness with taste alongwith other contents.
A place for tasting authentic Maharshtrian delicacy. The rates are however on the higher side, but worth the quality. Mandatory try outs: Sabudana Khichadi, Misal Pav, Kothimbir Vadi and Matar Karanji. Would be eager to experience more items of Marathi eatary to the current list.

One of the best places for maharastrian nasta... best dishes are upas missal, normal missal, bread roll , kachori upasa chi.... I love all the dishes....for the people who love sabudana... upas missal and sabudana WADA is a must try
Gokhle uphar gruh!!
One of the best nashta hotel near me.
And the only reason I visit here is for misal pav😍😍😍😍
They have best misal😋😋
They have a very comfortable seating.
And staff is also very cooperative.
Overall experience was very nice. Loved the place.
There are only two reasons why I go here:-
Misal Pav: They have amazing misal pav with a lot of sprouts and farsan. It's bland but you can ask them to give "tari" to make it spicy.
Sabudana Wada: One of the best things available here.
The person at the outlet is very rude but the food is quite good so I don't mind going.
I visited this place on Thursday which was my fast day.. The fasting misal is too good. Service is good too. Just a feedback if potato is added to sabudana vada, it would taste more good. Thanks
This place is an instant favourite and will also pop up as the first suggestion if you are in the area and looking for breakfast.
We tried their bread roll (yum!!!) Misal and batata vada. All reasonably priced and having authentic maharashtrian taste!
Also do try their kharvas(sweet).
One of my favourite place to have breakfast! It serves the Maharashtrian Authentic Breakfast. The food is just awesome and their quality is just like home made.
Top Recommended Dishes are
💥Misal Pav
💥Sabudana Khichdi
💥Talipith
💥Bread Roll
💥Piyush
One of my favourite breakfast place!
One of the best place to have Maharashtrian food. Whenever I visit Thane, I do make a point to eat at this place at least once. Do try - Batata Vada, sabudana khichadi and upasachi misal.
Good food at affordable price.
Good place for Breakfast/ Snacks. All the Cuisine are tasty & of good quality. Misal Pav, Vada ,Bread roll, Upasachi Misal & Piyush are recommendable.
Awesome lipsmacking Breakfast snacks.. it is pure satisfaction to go to Gokhale :)
The sabudana wada as suggested by everybody is a big hit and the Pune misal .
I had their Thalipeeth - it was crispy on the outside and moist inside, served with a Chutney and Dahi. Delicious.
The place is well maintained and the service is prompt. A good option to grab a quick bite.
If you are fasting then there is no better place than gokhle uphar gruh.Super quality and taste.authentic maharashtrian snacks .Will never stop eating from this place . Thanks...............
One line review: Outstanding Maharashtrian food
Pro tip: Please try the sabudana wada and the upwas misal. These items are their outright bestsellers for me.
If you want to try out different snack based items of Maharashtrian cuisine, this is the place to be. I am especially a big fan if their sabudana wada. By essence, sabudana wada is a slightly difficult item to prepare. The outside needs to be appropriately crispy while ensuring that the inside foundation is not over burnt or left uncooked. Of the few places that can get this balance perfect, is Gokhale Uphar Gruh.

hmm where do I start now...it's been quite a famous place for years and we finally got a chance to try the food made in pure Maharashtrian Brahmin Style....
Not too far away from thane railway station west between a narrow lane that doesn't have a lot of parking space sits this lovley little clean and spacious breakfast joint known for the following delicacies : -
Misal Pav (Sprouts Misal) (4.5/5)
Poha
Batata Vada (3/5)
Sabudana Vada (3.5)
Kothimbir Vadi
Upma
Kokum Sharbat (2/5)
Chas.........
What we tried and enjoyed were :
Misal Pav - Puneri style sprouts misal which was medium spicy and tasty that one could not let go ....
Sabudana Vada - Crispy and tasty, served with green chutney
Alu Wadi - A combination of sweet and spicy masala applied to it which was deep fried, and medium crispy but average in taste, served with coconut chutney
Vada - was nice but the outer cover was on a thicker side to my liking but too heavy on the stomach once u have had the above 3
Kokum Sharbat - Too sweet and not that tasty as it should be..
Do try the Poha as it was on everyone's plate but we were not in a mood to try that...
Not sure what's with the Kothimbir Vadi, probably runs out as soon as they open the joint i.e at 7am....
Suggestions are always welcome for those who have already tried this vintage breakfast joint..
Decent place for misal pav. The best part is, it doesn't burn all the way to your stomach, unlike most misal sold in popular places. We are left comfortably satiated. Money's full worth.
Guys!get anything from here I mean it anything ...everything is so authentic rich in flavours...I believe the best maharastrain wada pav in whole Thane...they serve you lot of foods when one is in fast...very hygenic....you can see these guys wearing gloves ..machines are there to make heavy dough....

If you are staying in thane and have not visited gokhale,im sure you are missing out a lot.The taste of Sabudana kichadi cannot be beaten. They also have fabulous refreshing drinks like piyush, kokam sarbat....which is also recommended with food.It doesn't have A/C rooms still you will enjoy the whole vibe of the place if you have company.Upwas specials are super delicious and tempting to eat!! Sufficient quantity to fill your tummy.
Recently , tried their Upawas Misal and Shabudana Khichdi .Clean, and Promt service.. Upwas misal was delicious and Shabudana Khichdi was good too ( Quantity was less as compared to the price)
This food joint is famous for Maharashtrian Food joint in Thane. This is cleanest food joint I came across. Its famous for Misal, Piyush and puri bhaji. On fasting day this food joint finds very crowded.
Every person should try this joint.
It’s a place which serves pure Maharashtrian Snacks.
The food is tasty and they have prompt service. The major issue with this place is the seating area as it has v less space and unorganised. The place is neat and clean.
One of the best places in Thane to enjoy authentic Maharashtrian snacks. This is a place which is famous for vada pav, sabudana khichadi, misal, thalipeeth and many more( Piyush- A must have drink). Taste is really good. Have been visiting this place since 11 years. The transformation from a small joint to a big one is really worth appreciating. I really wish there is a franchise or another branch at Ghodbunder Road.
Best best best place to have upvas misal. Very hygienic place. Organised. Kokum sharbat is really refreshing too. I the normal misal but upvas misal is my favourite. Pocket friendly and one of the Best places in thane to have misal
Gokhale uphar gruh is located near Bedekar Highschool near the famous Gokhale Road and Ram Maruti Road. This is one of the oldest Restaurants in Thane. They serve typical, traditional, Brahmin style Maharashtrian Cuisine.
Must try food items on the menu are:-
1.Misal Pav
2.Thalipeeth
3.Batata Vada
4.Sabudana Vada

One of the oldest snack place around the city serving pure Maharashtrian snacks.
This place has been renovated and now has a limited sitting place .
This place is can be summarised for three things.
1 cleanliness
2 prompt service
3 great food.
We had misal pav which was good though not the best since it was overpowered by onions. On the taste front it was good as spiciness, the main aspect of misal, was just the right amount.
This is a place definitely worth visiting for the Maharashtrian menu.
One of the best misals i have had.
This place is quick at service. Ive had misal and other items here at times the taste changed a bit but it was never bad.
Must try- Misal Pao, batata wada, sabudana wada.
One Of The Oldest And Traditional Place In Naupada Specially Famous For Maharashtrian Traditional Snacks. Been Here Today For My Afternoon Quick Snacks Was Ordered The “Thalipith & Piyush” They Served The Thalipith With Green Pudina Chutney And Curd. You can see the kitchen through the glass partition kept neat and clean full rating for that. Not too expensive.
Must try - Misal and kokam sarbat.
Visited this place to have a quick snack and ended up having missal pav.
Oh boy what flavor it has.. iloved it truly. They did not have a few items that time of the day but will surely be visiting for other items.
Do visit this place for their famous missal 🔥
One of the cleanest and sophisticated snack eateries in Thane area. Located right besides Gokhale road , this eatery offers all sorts of Maharashtrian snacks.
Everything is made on order and served hot and fresh. The place is quite clean and hygienic and even their kitchen is transparent which also is quite clean.
The must try snacks here would be methi Bhaji, Misal , Sabudana vade and also Piyush (a kind of Marathi Lassi).
Ambience :- 5/5

What you will find here is typical maharashtrian breakfast like pohe, farali misal, thalipeeth, sabudana vada, vadi, sweet sheera and some few more items. They are famous for their Farali dishes.
The place is small but clean and,
limited seating option is available. On mahashivratri or ekadashi, this place becomes super crowded. Overall food quality is good.
Very old place but well known in Thane for maharashtrian snacks...
Its a simple place and they have an open kitchen which is very neat and tidy .....I have tasted almost every thing on their menu - misal pav, wada pav, puri bhaji, kothimbir wadi, bread roll - this is too good and ofcourse tea here - all are awesome.....
Very VFM also ...
Definitely recommend...!!!!!
This a proper n perfect place for those who needs homely cooked food. They serve amazing snacks. One must try misal out there and also corn pattice
A typical Maharashtrian place with mostly traditional food to offer. Especially Misal, sabudana wada and batata vada. A good place for a quick Marathi bite...
One of the oldest places in thane for quick bites and snacks. It has seen a makeover few years back and what a makeover it has got. It has a sit out place and stand in place inside. The best part about this place for me is thy cleanliness and hygiene factor. They have a transparent kitchen and that itself tells volume about their strive for cleanliness and maintaining clean hygiene. All their workers are always with heads covered and with plastic gloves. Their misal, wada pav, puri bhaji and tea here is awesome. Had piyush here but found it too sweet. I find the price to be reasonable. I like this place for lazy Sunday brunch or nashta before cricket.
Highly recommended especially if u r a clean freak.
For all Maharashtrian fast food lovers, this is among the best places. Upawas items like sabudana wada, khichadi and thalipeet are very tasty. The batata vada is awesome and the misal is also among the best. Prices are reasonable and service is quick. All in all a great place.
Want to have authentic Maharashtrian Food in Thane ? Your search ends here! .Its a food eatery (not a typical restaurant) in busy heart of thane. Dont expect to sit for long hours here, but that can be compensated for some really nice delicacies.
For those who are new to maharashtrian food, do try Misal Pav, Upwas Kachori,Kothimbir wadi, sabudana wada. The south indian items are also good but speciality lies in maharashtrian food. And Yes, Dont forget the Piyush! (a cold shake made of shrikhand and milk).
They shifted to this location around 2 or 2&1/2 years back and thank God for that since the earlier one was too small and chaotic..this place is also much more cleaner and bigger than the earlier one..now coming to their food..the taste hasn't changed one bit over the years..their batata vada, sabudana vada, thalipeeth and matar karanji are mine favourite.. also their tea is quite refreshing.. misal is so-so.. this place is one of favourites to have a quick bite and is also value for money..
The quality here is excellent. A transparent glass is fixed to show how clean kitchen is. One of d oldest joints in thane, which has maintained the same level of taste and quality. Do visit for good maharashtrian snacks!
Well it's one of the places in thane that serves maharashtrian snacks. They serve a nice batata vada. Mutter karanji is a unique dish that they offer. Fasting/upas items are also nice and tasty. More than taste will give it stars for hygiene, quick service. However would not recommend misal here for those who eat extremely spicy,if fasting you may go for fasting misal.
Famous for Maharashtrian breakfast/snacks delicacies.... Pohe, thalipeeth, farali misal,Puri bhaji, kothimbir Wadi, sweet shira are the stuff I would suggest.. Very hygienic place.. Der is a small sitting area here.. Rates are very reasonable.. Quantity and quality of the food is very good.
Nice hygiene place situated in middle of the town. Specially for misalpav and other maharashtrian cuisine. Quality is nice quantity is also nice.
In terms of hygeine, this place scores over mamledar on any given day. There is limited seating options available, moist probably you will have to stand and eat. Coming to the misal pav which we had, you could hardly feel the absence of the spicy extra rassa they put, it makes up for the taste though. Maybe this is the first time I enjoyed a non spicy misal and still rating it top notch. Wanted to try the kothimbir vadi, buy unfortunately it wasn't available and had to settle for thali peth. It was soft to break off and delicious to devour it. The mango lassi was just about okay, not their speciality and honestly you don't come here for lassi and stuff, its the misal pav which is the main attraction.
Excellent Misal Pav and Sabudana Khichchdi... The misal isn't spicy at all however tastes very good. Same for the Khichchdi.. Avoid the tea.. It's bad.
After long time had Misal Pav and Matar Karanji at Gokhale Upahar Gruham. Both the item were tates best.
If ur nearby thane go for it.
Taste here is awesome, not much oily stuffs but at the end of food u must try Piyush 😋 😋
Must visit place to have best breakfasts in the town. Dis place will surprise you with the variety of Maharashtrian dishes they serve us. As i had fast on d day i visited i ordered Thalipith which was made including fast ingredients. It was super yummy and i thoroughly enjoyed it.
Food is jus wow. I tried kothimbir vadi, misal pav, thalipit, vada pav, puri bhaji, and everything was just wow..clean hygienic place and fast service. Kothimbir vadi tasted like it was home made. 👍 Goo for it once
Aswesome...matarkaranjee and misal is normal.. Authentic maharastrian food.. Bread pakoda and corn tikki is also good
Open kitchen concept.. Very clean kitchen and hygenic... Definitely I would try their other dishes soon..
amazing and perfect tasty snacks outlet...very much neat and clean with great deal of hygiene...misal pav n fresh curd n thalipith are some of favourite ones...
Yummmm Misal. The only place where i loved misal pav. It has sprouts and very fresh. Poha is very average. Loved sabudana vada and tea. Perfect Sunday breakfast.
Brilliant sambar iddlli. Thalipith is so amazing with fresh curd. Neat and clean. Not sure why I haven't visited this place. Must for everyone who loves Authentic Marathi Breakfast.Ajay Rao thanks for making it happen
Loved the Marathi Cuisine over this place.. Place serves quick, warm and yummy food.. Ordered some 2-3 dishes, they were kothimbir wadi, sabudana wada and thalipeeth..
Good and best shop for vegetarians... Potato wada and other food for fast is also good.. Must try piyush... Overall food is average ... Not so big isue with parking
Very nice place for a quick breakfast. The Upvas items like sabudana khichadi, thalipeth, misal etc. Love the misal pao & batata wada here. All the best guys you are doing a great job.
I have been eating at this place for a long time now. Really nice place to have Maharashtrian snacks. I would recommend mattar karanji and up as missal. And all the food apart from this is also very tasty.
Lot of good reviews tempted me to try this outlet as I was in search of best maharastrian cuisine from many days.
I ordered recommended and most reviewed dishes from zomato members i.e Misal paav,Piyush and sabudana wada.
Misal paav was unique in taste. Not too spicy not too light also.I would rank 3rd best misal pav in thane after Mamledar and Suruchi.
Piyush was overpriced as compared to taste, quality and quantity. It was tasting like thik lassi only.
Sabudana wada is the real gem here.Crispy from outside and softer inside.Served with coconut chutney.
Disappointed as kothimbir vadi was not available at afternoon time.
I will try next time for sure.
Few items are worth for prize but few i find out little overpriced.
Overall good experience for maharashtrian cuisine and one must say their cleanliness and hygiene level at outlet at its best.
Good work....!
If you are willing to eat typical Maharashtrian breakfast like poha, upma, misal, batata vada, sabudana vada at low price, in a good shady, hygienic place, this is the place for you. The taste is no doubt authentic. Rather than taking parcel, I would recommend you to sir there and have your breakfast. Misal pav here is made with more than one sprouted pulses. So it's really healthy plus tasty. If you go there, do try it.
This place is well ventilated, comfortingly cool, shady and squeaky clean. It was truly refreshing to see Maharashtrian culture shine in all its glory here. Their maintenance here is impressive with shiny reflective tiles and their disciplined neatness. You will find quality and hygiene at their epitome here. We ordered Mango Lassi and Misal-Pav.
The Mango Lassi was thick, cool and soothing on a hot summer day. The flavour of lassi overpowered the mango a tad bit, but it was nice-ish overall.
The Misal had a strong classy flavour of its own. It was not too spicy, red or oily. It had the perfect proportion of ingredients. We normally don't like Misals, but this one won our hearts with its warm savoury taste and soft pav.
The ambience will make one want to just sit and enjoy their post-satiation happiness here. The cleanliness is welcoming and the pricing seems fair enough! We would strongly recommend this place to anyone who wants revisit their Maharashtrian culture and feel at home!

One of the oldest eateries in Thane dishing out the traditional Maharashtrian delicacies. Really proud of this place. The batata vada, misal pav, sabudana wada to name a few are really good. Must go if you want to try out the local cuisine.
Best place for morning breakfast, awsume taste. Best sabudana wada u can get (Brahmani padhatiche upahar gruh.) Good hygiene.. One of my favourite in Thane.
It was started by Shri Bhargav Gokhale almost 8 decades ago as a small eatery and has grown in leaps and bounds in size and also in terms of its popularity. This is gauged by a simple observation, the crowd that queues at the cash counter irrespective of the tome of the day.
This is pay-first & eat later type of eatery / restaurant. They operate on a self-service mode. They have done up the place in such a way that patrons can sit on the tables placed opposite the cash counter for which you obviously have to wait for your turn or you can stand & eat in the adjoining room. The kitchen has a see-through glass put up and one can watch the activities inside.
The one thing which stuck to me was the cleanliness of the place. It was spic-n-span to a fault. At frequent intervals, a couple of guys would come to sweep the floor & swab it clean with a mop. This activity was carried out irrespective of whether or not anything had dropped / spilled / fallen on the floor. There was a place for everything and everything was at its place.
It goes without saying that people who care so much about hygiene & cleanliness will no doubt be serving a very good quality food.
I tried the MISAL which was midly spiced and a bit easy on the oil. The taste was very unique in its own way. They use farsan & thin gathia to garnish the Misal. This is a MUST-HAVE dish at this restaurant.
Next I tried the Kothimbir Wadi, which was served 3 pieces to a plate. The Kothimbir Wadi was lightly fried for a short duration. This was evident from the insides of the Wadi retaining their moistness and softness. Surely RECOMMENDED.
I was hungry for more hence I tried the WADA PAV. The Wada was mild in taste, of a decent size and crisply fired.
I had a KARVAND JUICE as a beverage. Karvand or Karonda [as known in Hindi] is a reddish black berry which is found in the Konkan region of Maharashtra. Its taste is dominantly sweet with a tinge of sourness. It was a refreshing change from the aerated drinks that we are used to having.
The price for the above items came to Rs.110 per head which is VFM according to me.
Gokhale Uphaar Gruh takes pride is serving pure & authentic Maharashtrian vegetarian snack food & mini meals. The very fact that many locals throng this place is an indicator of its popularity and never-ending hordes of fans.
This is definitely a MUST-VISIT place in Thane to sample some Maharashtrian delicacies!

u have anything here...it will be best...thats why it is The Gokhales.. best of the class... best misal, batata wada, upas misal, kokam sarbat...everything is just great
Gokhale Upahaar Gruha is one of my favourites in Thane. They offer light snack items at reasonable prices. The kitchen is clean and can be seen from outside. Their items have a unique taste.
Be it Sabudana vada, Thalipith or Piyush.
The place offers a sitting area as well as take away options.
Parking can be an issue as this is located in main business area of Thane.
It's one of the famous restaurant in the vicinity especially for Maharashtrian type of food.
The menu is loaded with variety and it includes the उपवासाचे i.e. Food permitted in fasting. The taste is very nice and preparation is nice. It has typical marathi vibes.
The ambience is similar to a restaurant but a tiny one. The seating arrangement accommodates about 24 persons and there is a separate area for standing. It is a self service restaurant and you have to first place the order and collect it after it is prepared.
The restaurant is quite busy in the breakfast hours and on holiday.
I will recommend the Puri Bhaji, Misal, Dahi Vada, Matar Karanji, Kharvas and Modak if available.
Authentic Maharashtra snacks. Pricing is decent. Overall a good experience.
Very age-old restaurant but with the taste... Taste is 10/10.. must visit in Thane for all the food lovers. There misal is superb and is on recommended list. Every other item is very good in taste also the staff is good with good seating arrangement

A recommended food joint to enjoy authentic Maharashtrian food.
We had been there on Mahashivratri..So ordered upvasachi thalipith and upvasache cutlets.
Food was tasty.Piyush is awesome.
The hotel has self service and around 4 tables for sitting. Also one can have food standing with attached platform in a seperate room.
Prices are bit higher but taste is good.
No need to Introduce this eatery as they are iconic in their own way n loved by all. When in Thane City side shopping, do visit and indulge in good traditional Maharashtrian food items, starting with your Breakfast to Dinner. All Veg though. :-)
I rated service as 3 stars because it is a self service place. Outstanding food no comparison to anybody second to none. Be it anything, misal, poha, sabudana wada, everything is super fresh and delicious. The old man Mama is very sweet and helpful. Always happy to serve.
A few minus points, parking is an issue so take a bike rather than car. Place is relatively small so could be waiting at peak hours. I Can visit anytime any day.
I recently had the pleasure of savoring the Misal Pav at Gokhale Upahargruh, and it was an absolute delight for my taste buds. The dish was a perfect blend of spicy and flavorful, with a generous serving of sprouts, farsan, and a tantalizing gravy.
The Misal had just the right amount of heat, making it a true Maharashtrian culinary experience. The pav was fresh and served warm, complementing the dish perfectly. What stood out was the authenticity of the flavors, transporting me to the streets of Maharashtra with each bite.
If you're a fan of traditional Indian flavors and enjoy a bit of spice, I highly recommend trying the Misal Pav at Gokhale Upahargruh. It's a delightful culinary journey that captures the essence of this iconic dish.
A lot of my Friends from thane had suggested this place to be an Authentic Maharashtrian Breakfast and Snack place. And it stands true to all the Praise it receives. Such restaurants deserve the necessary social media attention as well, cause the Food they serve is on point and does not over promise and under deliver. I had the Sabudana wada and Aluwadi which was really fresh and Classic. Also the Piyush was thick and Filling.
If you are near Thane and wanted to have authentic Maharashtrian breakfast visit this place.
Batata vada is to die for, I visit this place at least twice a month..
My personal favorite
Batata vada,
Sabudana Vada,
Kanda Poha,
Matar Karanji.
