Curry Tales is a restaurant that you can visit for dining out and yet feel homely. The food they serve is absolutely light to digest, not heavy on the belly, the spices are balanced and worth trying.

Till date I was only fond of South Indian breakfast. Curry Tales made me a fan of South Indian maincourse too. Some authentic sount Indian food with a homely touch is what you'd find here. So this place is located at Khar west, very near to Khar railway station. It has a decent ambience decorated with artificial greenery, pretty lights. Almost 40 people can dine here at 1 time.

Curry Tales serves Thalis as well as ala carte. They have 3 types of Thalis - Vegetarian, Chicken, Seafood. I loved the chicken one as i'm not a seafood person. Despite the fact that south Indian food has alot of coconut, food here didn't feel heavy. We had a great quantity yet we felt well and good. 98% of the dishes are cooked in coconut oil and some in ghee. The taste comes from spices with Mangalorian, Kerala, Maharashtrian curations.
We were here for dinner on a weekend and since our group was large, we tried most of the signature dishes.
Welcome Drink Sambaram
We were welcomed with sambar to tingle our tastebuds and hint us with the taste that would follow.
Chaas
This was served with sambar to boost appetite.
STARTERS
Paneer Dry Fry
Chicken Ghee Roast
Egg Nirachadu
Squid Sukka
Fish Fry
Potato Ghee Roast
Prawns Dry Fry
What I loved the most is Chicken Ghee roast. It had the proper Southern taste. There was no spice that overpowered the entire dish. It had boneless chicken pieces coated with a lil gravy and served with onions.
I also liked Paneer fry. Potato ghee roast needs a lil improvement. The masalas should probably reach within potatoes. The outer was good. Inside felt boiled.
MAIN COURSE
Veg Thali
Non Veg Thali
Fish Thali
These thalis were appetising. They had alot of things like dahi bhindi, coconut beans, brown rice, dal, dosa, papad, payasam.
These were consistent dishes. What kept changing were 2 dishes in the type of thali you order i.e. veg, fish or chicken.
Veg Stew
Chicken Stew
The stews had proprtionate veggies/meat in a creamy yet soupy base.
Prawns Pullimulagu
Maharashtrian Mutton Curry
Dosa
Porotta
Appam
I enjoyed having appam and parathas with different curries.
DESSERTS
Payasam
Seviya with pomegranate
Loved payasam but missed out on the seviya.
It's a good place to enjoy regional food. Service too was good.

Delightful recreation of South Indian atmosphere. Amazing food. Simple yet deliciously. Seafood lovers dream.
Awesome food!! Was brought back to Kerala!! Superb fish curries, steamed brown rice, rasammm, various types of chutneys.. yummmmmyy
It was a one time try of Kerala cuisine, fish was ok ok, neer dosa was chutiyapa, chicken was good and kothu parotha was good good loved it.
A very Authentic Experience which will leave you wanting more! The Chicken Ghee Roast is a must have for those craving "Spice". A lot of variety to choose from, for those confused by the menu the staff is very helpful. Do not miss on the Mains and Yes by all means end it with Payasam!
Onam sadya experience. Happy to have a place in Khar actually do this; glad a trek and a long wait at a few other places could be avoided.
The food is good. The crab was old and fresh fish is not usually available and the quantity served is less, but the cuisine is just superb. The curries are awesome and while the ingredients freshness needs work the preparation and service is definitely worth a visit.
