Only twice was unhappy over the taste or underprepared .... rest just lovely.
What I've always loved about Durga is their amazing quality of paneer. And as usual, they didn't disappoint this time. I had ordered palak paneer with butter roti. The gravy had pretty good flavors. However, the gravy was a bit thin than expected and two of the rotis were a bit under. And since I am a sucker for their paneer, I wished for more of it in the gravy. Overall, I have always loved their food growing up and will continue to do so.
I just love this place for their butter chicken and nothing else so my review is based on that only.

Durga used to be popular in Matunga , for its cheap liquor and itās food. I think it used to be the food that was the major attraction.
Still is, but the place is expensive now and youāll see that the customers walking in are now a trickle.
The place is small and cramped, the toilets are an abomination.
The staff is friendly, know the most popular menu choices and love to trade banter and info if you are so inclined.
If they could sort out their pricing , I am sure it would be popular again.

In a locale distinguished for vegetarian South Indian eateries, we stumbled upon a compact restaurant and bar, Durga Lunch Home, not far from Matunga Central station. As opposed to expectations it wasn't dimly lit, with fairly luminous lighting over every table. Being the 50th anniversary of the outlet, they had a couple of goodies, reduced prices on drinks and 5% off on the food bill if you upload a post on Instagram or check-in on Facebook. I opted for the former to avail the food discount. After browsing the vast menu, we opened our innings with a couple of whiskeys, and Prawns in Red Sauce. The seafood was an absolute pleasure, I rank it amongst the best prawns preparations I've ever had. The succulent prawns, the spicy sauce and the grated cheese all made for one heck of a starter. Up next was Chicken Israel, in white sauce. It was on the sweeter side, so may not be for everyone's palate, but I loved it, something of a discovery for me, sweetened meat in white sauce. The capsicum and peppers which garnished the dish were particularly well cooked, as well as juicy. This was followed by Chicken Teriyaki, one of the tried and tested chicken variants, and it was up to the mark. While the quantity was not as much as expected, taste-wise it was flawless, the viscous dark sauce working its magic on the meat. Our final order was Chicken Bullet, a spicy, flaming serving, with a sauce I felt to be very similar to the one used for the prawns. It turned out to be yet another winner, and I was more than happy to lap up beyond my share as my friend was feeling too full to intake anymore. To sum up then, Durga Lunch Home is a hidden gem in, what is a treasure trove, Matunga Central. The fact that it's existed for 50 years in an area I've frequented all my life and yet I've never even known of it shows how underappreciated it is. It's not exactly inexpensive in my opinion, but you do get a very loud bang for your buck, be it food or drinks. The service is quick and helpful, if at times a touch overenthusiastic. The waiters occasionally stand right next to the table, I hope they are better trained in the future to give the customers their privacy. Also, if some desserts are added to the menu, then this restaurant becomes a one-stop-shop for a full-fledged meal. I'm bound to be back soon, to try out the other delicacies on the expansive menu.

This is a small place opposite matunga station with great food. The restaurant has different style of food which is very rare in this area. You should try their famous Chicken Teriyakki tandoori and Chicken in green sauce which is only available in this Restaurant. They also very nice biryani like chicken tawa biryani which has a quantity to serve 2-3 people and the taste is amazing. The ambience and staff of the outlet are decent. The images shared with this is of the chicken tawa biryani.

I had heard alot from my dad about this place so I finally we decided to have dinner today at Durga. The place is quite small and ambience is good . The staff is very friendly and sweet. Had visited yesterday afternoon with a friend for some drinks and lunch at this place. It's a good place. Staff is friendly. Food is nice here. Do visit here once for lunch. Cost is approx 1500 for two people including food and alcohol. We had Prawns Biryani as I heard alot about it from a friend. The Prawns Biryani was superb perfect gravy and spices. Quantity was good couldn't finish in two people. The Prawns Biryani came like a sizzler. Will surely visit again. Ambience is peaceful. Good place.

In a humble outing and small outlet with few tables this seems to be one of the best restaurants in this locality to have Non Veg Food. Simply lover the food here. Ordered Green Chicken which is one of the unique and special dishes that we get here. The tawa biryani is delicious and offers a variety in terms of chicken prawns and kheema. All of which is really great in taste. The service is quick and staff very courteous, they look after you very well. All in all a great experience!

If you are a true foodie and have no qualms about ambience this is the place you have to be. The food is awesome and you can make out the detailing done while choosing the ingredients. A dairy professional like me got stumped by the quality of Paneer... itās soft, rich and firm. The Boondi raita was awesome and the quality of Curd too good. The spices used in the biriyani gives a fantastic flavour and itās like freshly grounded. Overall I would highly recommend this place to visit as in todayās world where quality of food has taken a back seat and ambience and glamour are ruling the roost, Durga restaurant comes as a fresh air.

Everytime I am visiting this place, i am falling in love the delicious food which is being served here. Recently visited this place for lunch with a gang of 8. On a very short notice, we booked a table for my gang, to my surprise We were given the same without making us wait. While choosing the dish from the menu, staff was courteous in explaining the dish and its preparation, which was appriciable. The food was served in a unique style and presentation. Needless to say, every curry that we ordered was having different taste!!! The quantity was sufficient and the same was explained by the staff to avoid any wastage.

This traditional bar in matunga is really exciting just coz it's a gujrati vicinity and not a lot of non veg options around..
The food is totally global in terms of the names and also tastes really good.

I was a student of Ruia so I have been to Durga a couple of times. Most of you reading this have probably seen it but have thought it's just a bar. So NO, feel free to go and eat here. This review is on their food. Some of these dishes are extremely famous among regular people. ORDER:
1. Chicken BELGIUM: To be honest this was a surprise in every bite. There is soo much going on it really good. The dish is chicken based with some noodles. The Potato fried in this dish was perfect. OT has many other vegetables as well. I would recommend This for all those who don't want something heavy. It's light on the stomach and it's good to Taste.
2. Paneer Isrealie: YOU HAVE TO ORDER THIS. It's creamy and the paneer was soo soft. If I could I would eat this all day every day. This is available in CHICKEN as well.
3. Chicken in green sauce: Now this looks Like a typical HaraBhara chicken. But let me tell you the masala is just different. I got a Taste of fish masala. It worked well for me.
4. Chicken tava biryani: Now this is a house Speciality. They are known for This. No doubt it's well made, but the chicken or the rice is not heavy. I didn't feel stuffed after the biryani. Must order but do go with a good appetite.
Over all the place is really good. They do serve Alcohol as well. Special thanks to MR. Nityanandji aka ANNA. He helped me choose all the above dishes.

This is our go to place when we want to eat good food and grab a couple of drinks. Wide array of starters biriyanis are their usp. Friendly and fast serving staff, could do with some better ambience though.

The food definitely is the main reason to come but the staff and the hosts are such warm and sweet people. They keep you feeling so invited here that one definitely feels at home here.
Also food is very homely as all the ingredients are freshly pounded and none of them use any colors or synthetic flavours like others in business.
One feels very comforted with home style food but menu is very vast and serves awesome global cuisines.
Since we are veg we would recommend strongly paneer Israeli and paneer Belgian. . One must try All paneer items as paneer is just so so softttt. .. it just melts.

If you are around Matunga (east) or not even if you are not hungry and all the conventional food joints around had long queue on the pavements, please visit Durga Restaurant and Bar on the Matunga station (East) road. A typical Shetty Bar it is! so, there is a Bar & Restaurant jointly, but any family can enjoy the Food and Services being offered. Those who are pure Vegetarian also must visit this joint as there Vegetarian dishes are more famous than Non-vegetarian dishes. The Paneer Tikka Sabji is palatable good. Though, I have not tested, but, heard that, there Chinese items are horrible. I must say at least once in life, you must have to visit this restaurant. For next time visits, no need to say anything.

There is difference between dry and sukkha.. but in reality both meaning are same.
But there sukkha chicken dish we get rassa and sukkha chicken.
And in dry chicken we only get dry chicken no rassa..
