If you are looking for typical bong food then this is the place where you ll get head to toe everything bong style especially the rolls must try it's too yummy !
I ordered chicken egg roll and cuttlet
The taste of food was ok as i don't like Bengali food
My rating for dis place
Food 5/4

Excellent food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Small decent enough joint, lovely food and Bengali and Chinese cuisine menu is too crave for, moghlai paratha, American chopsuey and Devilled egg is too yummy
Ordered bengali styled biryani. Tasted nice with the authentic taste.. Also ordered bengali styled chicken curry which also tasted good.. Looking forward to tasting other authentic bengali dishes..
Decently good Boneless Mutton Biryani Kolkata style. The mutton, egg and potato made up well for a good biryani. Ambience is decent. May visit again.
I must have ordered a million times from this place. Being a bengali, staying away from my hometown, I sometimes crave for those homecooked taste. So I turn to Taste of Kolkata and order their chicken curry or fish. That makes me happy :)
A good place to have Bengali food and cure for my homesickness. The place is a heaven if you don't mind greasy Bengali and cholesterol heavy cuisine.Safe bets: mughlai paratha, egg rolls,Bengali pilau, kosha manghso.the place is easy on your wallet as well
I went here with my friends and I like the food.
Allover experience is good, the best part is their biryani.
I rated 4 star bcoz of biryani and for thier kolkata cuisines.
Ordered chicken biryani..it was exactly like that of Kolkata.quantity was good with succulent leg piece of chicken an egg and d best part is the big piece of perfectly cookd potato. This is the cardinal part of kolkata biryani ,loved it...hope they keep up with their standard.
Have ordered from this place quite a lot of times. Especially when I crave for Bengali food in Mumbai. Like the home cooked style. Taste of Kolkata delivers on that. Their Chicken reminds of of some of the counterparts i tried in Kolkata. Great stuff.
The Service is awesome. Love to have a food. All kinds of Dishes are available with the best quality. But ya Spicy Dish should have a spicy don't make it like a medium due to this the taste gets worst of the food. So. please improve these and ya you all provide a quality as well as quantity also. Thank You.
Nice little joint tucked away in a corner @ Thakur Village. Food is no frills & basic but sure shot yummy. Perfect for Bengali & Chinese food lovers, bachelors & days when your cook decides to surprise you ;-) The restaurant is frugally maintained but clean - the air conditioned seating is comparatively improved over time.. most importantly food- 1) order fish cutlet - it tastes v good with their in-house mustard sauce (2) chicken cutlet is nice but given a choice- go for the fish (3) Rolls are good too - Chicken schewan egg roll - they use normal maida roti so no healthy wheat option available (4) Bengali style chicken - have the one with brown onion gravy to remind you of home style cooking but forgive the cook for the pool of oil on top (5) try typical Bengali fish curries - especially in mustard gravy - choose the fish depending on appetite for fish bones.
Ordered chicken biryani and prawn malaikari yesterday for lunch. Was not disappointed. Biryani was good, pure Kolkata style. They can work towards
reducing the sweetness though. But there was a subtle blend of flavours. Quantity was good. Sufficient for one person. The portion of chicken was generous as well
Prawn malaikari tasted good as well. The gravy could have been a bit denser. But the taste was honest.
Overall a good experience !
Perfect place to eat kebabs and tandoori items.mouth watering taste.every product I ordered have some different taste which was awesome
I would love to come again and taste some more varieties of dishes.
Have taste of bengal at reasonable and affordable price. Try laccha partha, you ll love it. You can satisfy desire for bengali food here at pocket friendly price
Bengali delicacies in kandivali East. Very reasonable rates and good food. Budha da the owner of the restaurant is such a lovely person. Almost all varieties of Bengali dishes are available. Last visited in some time around March 2011. With veg thali and one fish item & mutton kosha used to costs approximately Rs. 400/-.
The nearest restaurant to my place.
After the renovation, it’s too good!
The taste is just unmatchable. A heaven for Bengalis. Mixed Fried rice and noodles are the speciality.
For bongs, chicken dum biryani.
Chicken lollypop oil fry and masala dry are too good to miss!
Soups are worth a try.
It's situated in thakur village . Very small restaurant . They have two section AC and Non Ac.
I have been here twice and both the time I have tried non veg so can't say anything for veg. but Food is just amazing ,delicious. Initially wen I entered this place I dint have any hopes but they really have classy food, flavors are amazing . Its meant for Non veg lovers. It's very cozy so dont expect much for ambience but food is just wow .
Quite pocket friendly .
For quick snacks they have variety of rolls and they are really superb
Ambience is average, service is verryyyy slow , they really need to work on timely and professional service

Taste of Kolkata boasts of Bengali cuisines and the best thing is that it comes at a pretty pocket-friendly price. We ordered Paratha, Chicken Kosha, Chicken Chap and A Fish Thali. The chicken kosha I feel could have been much better while the chicken chap was better than average. However, the paratha was really good. The fish thali was rather okay. In all, I would say, there is not a lot that would make you say wow, but definitely you should give it a try.
Also the restaurant cramps you for room. But then, the decor which is pretty simple, does give a little feel as if you are in the city of Kolkata. The hosts were pretty professional as well.
To relish the flavours of Kolkata, one must visit "Taste of Kolkata"!!!!!
Food. 4.5/5 The food is the biggest attraction here. Highly recommended for the carnivores there. In starters we ordered, fish & chicken pakora which was amazing & well cooked. It was served with "Kasundi"(Mustard Sauce) which really goes along appropriately with it.
In Main Course we ordered Mutton Kasha(Mutton Masala) along with Porota(Parantha) & Mutton Biryani. "Heaven Is The Word" !!!!! Thats exactly will be your reaction after having tried these dishes. The mutton was soft, tender & the flavours were mouth watering. It tasted perfect with the porota which was made of Maida. The Biryani was typical Bengali style & one can relate to the taste of "Arsalan" at Kolkata. Overall delicious food & at the right price!!!!!
Ambience. 3/5 Dont expect it to be a wonderland. If you are a person who believes in great decor & classy ambience, I wouldnt recommend this place to you. It just has a neat & dinky sitting arrangement that too not very spacious. However, the taste of the food compensates for everything else.
Highly Recommended For One & All!!!!!
Regards
Well kind of an authentic bengali food place among all players serving bengali style food. The Bengali Biryani on specific days is what to look for. The Chicken Kosha is also great.
A nice place for those who like home cooked food. Being a bengali loved this place and the food tastes really like kolkata. Food is fresh and essentially Bengali. Special the Bengali biriyani and ilish bhapa.
Liked it :-) The only Bengali restaurant in our area and cheaper than expected. My favourite menu there for dinner was fish fry, chicken lollipop and tomato or manchow soup as starters with chicken roll or chicken dum biryani as main course. They were very friendly. As the time changed the taste remained same but when home delivery quantity the was reduced. :-(
Amazing food to begin with. Value for your money. Must try their version of Masala Papad. We ordered vegetarian food as well as Chicken Tandoori. Food is totally delicious. The only problem here is slow service, however having said that the food is first-rate.
It's my pet Bengali restaurant... Always there for for me whenever I need Bengali food. I love it's chicken biryani the most...Also their sweet delicacies like mishti doi and sweets are good...Would recommend to anyone who would like to have Bengali food..
Good place for Bengali food lovers. The place is small & not modern but the taste of food is awesome. A must try. I have personally tried their Mughlai , prawn malakari , mutton kasha, if you are looking for quick snack option do try their roll. Roll comes in variety of chicken , mutton & egg.
Would order for sure
Place is decent, clean. Not crowded at all. I went during lunch time. I ordered tandoori lollipop, came with 7 pieces and American chopsuey. American chopsuey tasted really good tangy and spicy at the same time. Quantity was also sufficient. Prices are very affordable too. All in all a good experience.
Food is decent. I had tandoori lollipop and american chopseuy. Tandoori was okay. Chopseuy was amazing. Ambience is decent. Worth the price. Must try!👍
The best place for Kerela food. The paratha melts in the mouth. Sukha chicken, Kerela chicken, prawns special masala are some of the things I tried. Every dish is mouth watering. I wish i could have everything on the menu there. And it's so economical! Absolute value for money!
Had ordered Bangali chicken Biriyani, Fish Fry, Fish kabiraji, & Mughlai paratha all of them were very tasty & Authentic. But Fish Fry is too small in size. They serve good Misti Doi & sweets too.
A great place for having Bengali food when you are away from home. Bengali thalis had a taste and feel of homemade food, along with being quite reasonable. Not just Bengali food items, even the tandoori items were pretty delicious.
Loved it...after such a long time had bengali cuisine.... At very reasonable price you get a fish thali. And with a wide variety of fishes are available.
One the best place to go for Great Bengali Cuisine. The indulgence is precious for all the Bengalis who crave for that piece of Kolkata in amidst the hustle and bustle of City of Dreams.
I take my daily dinner home delivered from here. Their thalis are just like home made food. I am having it for quite some time, and therefore would advocate that am very happy. Apart from this, they have a lot of Bengali street food that they offer (roll, mughlai paratha, etc.) Apart from this, they have the regular Indian and Chinese cuisine on offer. Good joint for regular eating.
After a disastrous experience with mumbai zaika , we ordered food from this tiny place . we ordered chicken pakoda, chicken schezwan rice . it was much better than my previous order with Mumbai zaika. It's good as per price and quantity. The only no was the mustard sauce . rest was satisfactory.
Taste of Kolkata is for bachelors who have lunch/dinner outside. The food tastes good and reasonably priced must visit hotel for all the bachelors out there
Very small and unassuming food corner near Thakur village, kandivali east. The joint may remind bongs of their street side hotels in kol.
The food is average, with the rice portions really small. The daal, and begun bhaja were simple and reminds of home made food. The aloo posto (potato in khuskhus paste) was okay okay. The hilsa in mustard was good in terms of the taste, but the fish was not great, and my guess is that it was a sea water hilsa and not a fresh water one.
The mutton kosha was good, and tasted like the home made version. The misti doi was good.
Overall liked it, but honestly you can improve a lot on ur food. Also adding card swipe would benefit you, and foodies like us. Would love to try your chinese and moglai paratha someday.
This is one of the best Authentic Bengali Cuisine restaurant in Thakur Village in Kandivali. The Location is near to Thakur college and it is a little difficult to spot because of the small facade and space.
The taste of the all the dishes are awesome. We have ordered several times from here. The main problem with this restaurant is that the delivery time is very high. It normally takes around 1 hr for them to deliver a dish. They have to make their service far better. The cost is on the higher side.
There is another Bengali resturant in Lokhandwala named Flavors Of Kolkata which can give tough competition to them.
The rating is 4 because of service and cost.
Best fried rice for a reasonable price! ! Quantity and quality is good :) taste good ! It's a thumbs up for any food lover! ! And since it's a bengali restaurant u will find all bengali cuisine here . Which is again worth a try !
Good for delivery. Food is not that great taste wise but one can say it's good. Morning breakfast on Sundays they serve Luchi(puri) and radhabalabi (stuffed puri) with potato curry. Typical Kolkata and bong food tastes good. Biriyani tastes good and quick service for home delivery. I have also tried mughlai parantha and egg devil fry. Mughlai parantha is bit oily but good in tastes. Curry items are also ok but not to die for.
Well the 4.0 rating is purely for the food.. I donno how authentic bengali food tastes... bt this is the best in thakur village for bengali cuisine.. their egg kosha ..veg chop..chicken cutlets are awesome... very very budget friendly. . Dining there is ok sometimes.. its a small setup..their frankies and rolls r superb!!! And yes mishti doi scores full marks...!!a very down to earth eatery..meant only for food... !!!
Manchurian rice n schezwan rice is good to taste. Veg noodle soup was not so worth.. Otherwise better for hangout with frnds. Reasonable to your pocket.
Average authentic Bengali cousin, not a great sitting arrangements. Its a very Small joint with value for money Food

Landed today at this place for lunch. Had contemplated to go to this place earlier but decor and sitting were a turnoff as it looks more like a chowmin dosa stall than a Bengali restaurant. Food is good and decently priced for the portion. Being a Bengali cuisine lover I quite missed the strong flavors which they have adjusted a bit for Mumbai palate but overall a good experience and can go again for the taste and quick service. Hope they will use less of kewda in biryani, it smells like agarbatti.
Awesome Bengali cousin with reasonable price, specially misti dahi
Love their chicken lollypop and chicken pepper and salt. If you're a bengali, you'll love their bengali thali. My husband and I sometimes have their chicken thali at lunch on Sundays to remind us of what bengali food really tastes like.
Good food. Soft chicken. Delicious rolls. Chinese is good too. Overall a good experience.
Being a Bong, its my piece of Kolkata right here in Mumbai! Love it, particularly the immense range of "Chops", Rolls and "Kobiraji'. Among the "Chop", love the Vegetable Chop, Fish Fry and Egg Devil. Among Kobiraji items, Chicken Kobiraji and Fish Kobiraji are all-time greats. Among the rolls, you have a vast variety, ranging from Egg rolls to Egg-Chicken, Mutton and other various rolls. Any Bong living in Mumbai will find their piece of Kolkata street food in here.
Don't try the Biriyani's though, they aren't authentic enough.
This is the new Bengali restaurant in Kandivali (East). Have not visited them yet but ordered many times--and found it is really very good and economical. I failed to understand how they can give such a good fish thali or chicken thali at so less price. The quantity, taste etc. are good and people who miss "baarir khabar" (ghar ka khana) can hog into their thaalis.
Tasted other items like fish fry, biriyani, fish fry, mughlai parota, veg chop etc and was never disappointed. Mishti doi is also good.
Only once I was disappointed--had their mango chutney (aamer chatni) and did not find it good.
P.S.: I had their chicken biriyani today (11th Aug, 2013) and found it really great. At rs 140 the quantity is too good and the taste is really authentic. Must Try
Ordered takeway for mutton kosha & egg devil. since it was weekend it was crowded & service was slow.
mutton kosha was good but too salty, however 100 times better then other bengali outlet around.
egg devil was good.
overall rating good
Good food but service is bit slow :)
Well, my stay in Mumbai for the past 6 years during my bachelor hood days would not have been possible without Taste of Kolkata.Staying away from Kolkata and yet getting to have "Bangali" food is a dream. The food quality is strictly OK from a foodie point of view. But the food does a good job to satiate cravings for home-made food.Their non-veg dishes-chikcen,mutton and rohu are pretty decent .Rolls, chop, biriyani are not upto the mark and people who tend to compare with the Kolkata variant will be terribly disappointed.
All in all their economical pricing-by Mumbai standards that is; and a very efficient home delivery service even on days of water-logging and incessant rains saved me on countless occassions from going to bed on an empty stomach :)..
Food-3 stars,Service-5 stars, Price-4 stars..
I just came back after having dinner now. I am from Kolkata and have tasted food from their Kolkata outlet as well. But the outlet of Andheri is not sophisticated like Kolkata. Ambience is not that good. It looks like any small restaurant. Ive ordered Mutton Cutlet, Rice, Dal, alu bhaja, Dhoka, Katla Kaliya and Mutton Dukbunglow.
I wanted to have Dab Chingri. Before going there Ive called and asked whether they have Dab chigri available or not, they said they have it but even after reaching there within 30 mints, they were unable to serve. (Its finished, that's what they said). Many dish was not available as we reached at 10pm.
Food is good. I am very satisfied with the quality, quantity of the food. But the taste of Mutton Dukbunglow is different what we have in Kolkata.
Authentic Bengali food. Ordered bhetki fry, maxi thala, puris and some arabi prawns dish. All were good in taste. Bhetki fry and prawns dish were great. Comfortable sitting place and courteous staff. Missed out on the desserts though since they were over.
One of the most popular eatouts for the bongs! The place certainly brings to you delicious Bengali food. But the flip side is, cost is quite higher than the quality and quantity of food they provide. You will get almost of the bong food you'd crave for.
Taste was really good ppl who looking for really spicy Bengali food like me was a bit disappointed it was on a sweeter side.
We ordered bhetki fry which was awesome.. then we ordered luchi and cholar daal ofwhich daal was more on the sweeter side .. for main course we ordered mutton dakbangla which was good in taste , prawns malai curry which was average as compared to oh Calcutta and we ordered Ilish barisali which was also average..fish was good but the quality of gravy was not good..finally we ordered nolen gurer icecream which was awesome...overall good place if you are looking for authentic bengali cuisine
Amazing Bengali food. Quite authentic. Quick service and friendly staff. Resonable prices. Food is fresh.
Superb delicious Bengali cuisine...if u r a Bengali or loves Bengali cuisine this is your place... varieties of food starting from postor bora, fish fry ,karaisutir kachori, aloor dam,in main course u can savour upon pulao, biryani, varieties of fish, chicken & mutton recipes..u can end ur meal with Misti doi or sweets..shorse bhetki is absolutely recommended...
Love the food here. Be out Calcutta or Bombay, this remains one of my favorite places for Bengali food.
Located in a corner this place boasts about their cultural influenced food. Curious me I reached here undecided with few friends to try out Bengali culinary. Oh I think we not just ate ...we over ate. Please ask for manager incase it's your first time to try Bengali food. Service is good. They have open air and AC closed door too. Do try their mustard sauce ...out of world
Nice place to enjoy Bengali dishes, but bit overpriced and if you're a Bengali and visited here from West Bengal, you won't find the food as tasty as over there. All foods in the menu are not available all the time. Keeping aside the price and comparison, it's a nice place to hang out and enjoy bong dishes. If you're ok with money, you'll definitely enjoy the food.
I am a Bong and I simply love any place that serves good food and more if it's Bengali cuisine. So if a Bong recommends a place then it's always worth trying it out and to everyone who reads this I would encourage certainly to try out this place atleast once. I ain't suggesting any food as the list of good food available here is quite lengthy. But the ones serving here are quite friendly and would help you to choose the right dishes and in right proportion as well!! So take yourself and anyone who enjoys good food to this joint and you won't be disappointed... Bon Appetite !!
Fantastic dining experience. My first taste of Bengali food and it was worth waiting for. Tried mangshor chop, mutton kabiraji cutlet, kosha mangsho with laccha paratha and finished with notun gurer ice cream. What lacks in quantity makes up in taste...

If you are looking for authentic bengali food and especially a variety of fishes, this is the place to go. Easy to find in the lane next to Puri hotel would do better to advertise though. The service was a little laid back but in a place where you have gone to enjoy the break, count that in as a chance to relax. The interiors are clean and standard, don't expect Oh Calcutta ambience but food can be a fitting rival.
One the better Bengali Food Joints in Mumbai.
Originally the restaurant started in Kolkata. This is their first outlet in Mumbai.
I have been frequenting this place for the last 3 years. Depending on the chef, food quality has swung between Brilliant to Pathetic.
My last 2 visits have been good. Guess they now have got back a good Chef at this joint.
