A go to place for every college student. During my college days, this was my almost everyday go to place. With super tasty and pocket friendly prices, this place is a surely a favourite for many students. They serve some real good butter Vada pav, amazing dosas with many varieties and some real yummy sandwiches.
My favourite dishes over here are :- Grilled mayo sandwich, open cheese dosa and butter Vada pav!
Had gone for a night drive and visited this place for a quick vada pav. Tried the cheese and regular one. Both tasted great. Not much of a difference just the cheese.
If you love dosa then do try this place.. it’s located opposite NM college in vile Parle... there are too many varieties of dosa and sandwiches.. pizza dosa and gini dosa are one of my favourite ones from the list.. too tasty and filling.. the only drawback is there’s no seating available..
Yet I would love to visit it everytime I happen to be in that locality..

Dhiraj probably has the best dosa on the entire street from opposite Mithibai. Personal favourites among the dosas there are the Pizza Dosa and the Chilli Cheese Dosa.
The Mithibai Street is the place filled with the most amazing quick bite outlets. But as per me the oldest and the best among them is ‘Diraj’.
This place serves one of the best butter vada pav, cheese vada Pav and schezwan vada Pav. If you are running late and a have a train to catch or lecture to attend then vada Pav combined with cold drink or flavoured drink or juice is it.
But if you have time, then you can’t just miss the grilled cheese sandwich or even the saadha sandwich or masala toast.
And last but not the least, the Geene Dosa, a perfect blend of cheese and veggies and amazing chutnies. This is the dish you can’t ever miss.

I recently visited this place near Mithibai college when my cousins were here for a holiday.
I had heard a lot of the genie dosa and Frankie rolls here. And both were really really good.

Ginni dosa
Chinese noodle Frankie.
Seeing the dosa get made is so much fun. These people exhibit a lot of innovation in terms of food and it is really fun to watch the live cooking.
The dosa is liberally sprinkled or I should say heaped with toppings.
The noodle roll is very filling just the red colour of the noodle was something I didnt like.

It's always crowded and the best thing about here is they never serve cold wadas. Butter applied in wada pav is to die for. It It cost around 20/- per wada pav but the quantity is enough as the size of the pav is really big. Among the doses my personal favourite is chilly cheese dosa.

People generally rush towards the Anand dosa stall and bleh but if you try a dosa once at Dhiraj you wont go anywhere else! Their Chutney Powder Dosa is the star!!! I have been eating here since childhood, and never have been disappointed. DSS doubles up as a college hangout too, and not to mention, their food is amazing indeed.
The 20 rupee price tag of their vadapav may make the hearts of some people stop. But hey! They put butter in their pavs, and the vadas are the hugest I have seen! And they are tasty (really tasty).
The sandwiches are very filling and equally tasty.
I particularly like their dosas and my favourite is the gini dosa. Hearty fillings is their forté. And that's a highlight for me and many others.
When we compare this to the dosas at bajaj road, we probably get confused between who is better. So let me break it down for you.
Variety:- bajaj road
Value for money:- Definitely DSS !
Taste of dosas:- Both of them are equally good.
Taste of chutney:-bajaj road
My verdict:- Is prefer dhiraj over bajaj road (primarily, I definitely don't see myself paying 70bucks for just a chutney powder dosa at bajaj road! That's just crazy and insane, a big no no !)
Overall it is a must visit if you are around !

Had a chance to try the vada pao's from this place thanks to a friend who bought it to office. The vada's were really big in size and soft. The chutney was really good and the typical red powder was only with red chillies and not the traditional one like with peanuts and garlic. Descent vada paos.

Most part of my college life has been spent gorging on delicious street food from this place. Be it the variety of dosas, Vada Pav, Ferrero rocher milkshake or Huge grilled sandwiches - you will be in for a treat here.
Just be prepared to wait a while, coz this place is jam packed with college students any time of day or night. Feast on the food - your taste buds will thank you.
One of the iconic places in bombay for food lovers. One can't miss this. One of the best vada pavs in bombay. You can't eat just one. You will end up eating 2 or more and end up having gas explosion☺. But the quality is good so don't worry.
This place is crowded at all times, and it's difficult to stand there on a rainy day.
The dosas were perfect and yum, only if you're ready to wait for 10mins (at least)... You need to keep asking for your dosa or you will never get it. Sandwiches are ready quickly and so are the milkshakes and wada pav.
(Mind you if the one making dosas is frustrated, you'll get it last)
Nonetheless they serve good & finger licking dosas.
DSS is another great outlet outside Mithibai where u will always find the stall covered by college students having quick bites between the lectures. Having fond memories of this since my college days, I have literally tried almost all items on the menu and believe me all of them offers way better taste satisfaction than any upmarket fast food outlet. It's vada pav is quite big in size by default and the amount of cheese/butter/chutneys he spreads inside the pav, at one point u start thinking to make him stop from spreading more!
Dosas are good as well, however, became quite pricy in recent years. The menu shown here is wrong..his masala dosas costs approx Rs 80 these days..pretty much expensive at a stall level.

Dhiraj occupies a special place in my heart for having studied at Mithibai and then at D J Sanghvi, visits to this place were very often.
I am completely in love with the Vada Pav out here. Though it's become a bit pricey, it is still worth it. This is a place where you'll find one of the best Vada Pavs in the city.
Coming to the sandwiches, the Veg Grilled Sandwich is my mother's favourite and thus at times, we come here specially to have the same. The vegetables are always generously added and if you go in for the cheese variant, may God save you! 😁
Now the Dosas. This place provides a very good variety of them. However, they are again too expensive. But just as the other things that one can have here, this is also worth it. The Gini Dosa and the Pizza Dosa are worth trying.

I have heard about sandwich shops near mithibai college. So when i was in vile parle, decided to go there. This place was the most crowdy one. They do not have sitting arrangement as this is a small outlet. We ordered Cheese schezwan sandwich, mayonnaise sandwich and cheese pavbhaji dosa. All the dishes were awesome and unique. Service is quick.

Gini dosa and pizza dosas are my favourite. The mayonnaise sandwich is made in a way that will always want you to come back. Also with all the food you can enjoy a cooling slush to call it a meal. Also the hygienic standards of the place are pretty good for a roadside stall.
Have been going to this place frequently.
This little place dishes out the best dosas and sandwiches you can ever have. People from far away places come here to have dosas and sandwiches . It is a place for night eaters since it is open till 12 at night. The best street food you can ever have. Delicious and mouthwatering dishes!! The only problem here is car parking.

I pen this "A tale of two reviews". But make no mistake, Dhiraj and next by its side Anand stall combined was one amazing free spirited night that symbolises Mumbaikars Khau galli passion for its roadside thela walas.
It's our monthly team bonding cuisine event. We are directed to reach Mithibai College, Dhiraj Stall for its Vada Pav. My colleague and I reach first a few minutes before 2000, bemused.. we had left 15 minutes later than the other 5 members (they drove off in one car), poor me heavily reprimanded for delaying our office exit by my "Singaporean" head. Thanks to our Mumbai autowalas; they help my bruised plight and genuine plea to reach faster. Dhiraj Enterprise (not stall mind you) has a Dosa thela on its left, Its Dosa maker Dilip is more than happy to pose for a few snaps. He gives me a sampling to taste his two chutneys. The stall serves sandwiches and milkshakes. A s/w wala uncle is grating mozzarella cheese on to a made to order grilled. The famous vada pav thela is on the outside right. Another aged uncle is rolling balls of fresh masala aloo mix in his hands, his assistant dips them in besan batter before frying them on the hot karahi. Fresh ladi (bakery) pav, green salted chillies, Hara dhania (coriander) chutney and red garlic powder sit on the table. Standard stuff right ? Wrong , there is also a big steel container with golden butter.. Govardhan brand I'm informed proudly by the owner. The rest of the team arrive now, "our Singaporean" innocently late. Vada pavs are now ordered, butter slathered liberally on the pav with chutney and red garlic powder , then the piping hot Batata Vedas which hit our mouth; bursting with warm golden potato mix. Oooh...Pukka Tukka . We order a few more. The butter Pav gives a tingly tangy feeling but contrasts so well with the hot steaming aloo masala. Some fingers are drooling with melted butter. Our young hosts then direct us towards Anand dosa stall a few metres away, we will return for Dhiraj's milkshakes (you may check my review of Anand stall as stated in the prologue)
We return to Dhiraj almost full from the Dosas had at Anand stall. The famous Ferrero Rocher milkshake apparently here is recommended for all choco fanatics; so a 3*5 sharing is ordered. I am sharing a fresh orange juice with another non-chocoholic. The juice is squeezed fresh, comes natural and the pulpiness from the orange comes right through to my taste buds. The FR milk shake is both a process and pictorial assembly. First generous scoops of Dinshaws chocolate ice cream, then milk poured from a carton, next spoonfuls of cocoa powder and finally ice cubes dunked and the concoction is blitzed in a mixer. 5 glasses are then lined up, the milk shake is poured.Is that it? Na Na, It's further decorated with Ferrero Rocher spread ...voila !! Our gleeful group sips the divine mix (I tasted a sip and it was sinful but delicious). A couple of Malai Kulfis are then bought from the next stall and we bite into the creamy milk sticks..a night of further bliss. The amazing bonding of my team ranging from age groups across aggressive but vibrant mid 20s, to mild mannered mid 30s to daring eccentric early 40s has triumphed so brightly tonite on the Vile Parle streets.
It's nearing quarter past nine, and while the grand lady Mithibai looks upon us from behind, my "Singaporean" head reminds me to look up in front across the road; at another majestic institution. I know this one has graduated many prodigal daughters then onto CA's and to be the future leaders in finance, commerce and banking thus leading diversity for women. This after all is Narsee Monjee College or as they say here NM ... Hey Bhagwan !!!!
Delicious ! Is the word which describes the taste of dheeraj food stall .. vada pav is super good .. mayo sandwich is good .. dosa ' s are average ...
I have been to this place and will keep returning to it. It is located right opposite NMIMS. This roadside place (literally) dishes out some of the best dosas you can find in Mumbai. Innovation is the name of the game here with many different varieties available. They are a bit on the oily side but who cares when they are so tasty. The chutneys that come with the dosas are great too. My personal favourtie is pizza dosa. This place is a must try in Mumbai.
This place is an old haunt for Mithibai students and continues to be, long after they graduate and move on.
You can pretty much depend on most of the stuff that you get here - be it the Wada Pav or the Samosas, but what people flock to for here are the Sandwiches.
So, there are a multitude of sandwich stalls on the street outside Mithibai College, what makes Dhiraj special? It's perhaps that this place makes consistently good Grilled Sandwiches, day after day, year after year - and they manage it by
A) ensuring the chutney is one of the flavourful you can have - whether it's inside your sandwich or as an accompaniment.
B) most importantly, ensuring the sandwiches are succulent WITHOUT being soggy - which happens so easily with grilled sandwiches.
Over time, Dhiraj has slowly developed what i have come to believe is one of the best Grilled Sandwiches in Mumbai...
Always a pleasure eating at this place. Makes you pocket and stomach both happy and the taste is always great. People come from far of places to try food here and its the hot spot for college students as it is located around Mithibai,UPG, NM... On weekends its pack and you will see people from all age here. In true sense it has made space for itself among other street food outlets that are there in that area.
A friend suggested this place and as we were looking for a good street food place, we arrived to this food lane opposite to NM college. Parking at first looked difficult and we did manage to park just a little ahead of the small street shops. Otherwise there are bylanes and parking should not have been much of an issue. There were more than 50 varieties n combination of dosas and we tried Pizza dosa which was quite cool n innovative. It tasted great and the nariyal chutni added to the marriage of Italian n South Indian. Other varieties like Paneer Chilly etc also looked sumptuous. Then we progressed to try the famous Sandwich and took Mayo Cheese sandwich. Well just ignore when they prepare it as you might start feeling heavy before eating itself. So much of Cheese!!! The sandwich was Aldo good n heavy. Both were priced at 120 each and we found it a bit over priced for street food. But guess quantity of cheese covers for it. :)
Just had Mysore Cheese Masala Dosa and tried first time Kerala Masala Dosa. Good.
Vada pav Is really amazing and served hot. The place is bustling with activity and food options especially given that it is in the college area.
They serve multiple other options like sandwich and dosas but I prefer just the wada pav here while for sandwiches and dosas the place below NMIMS I find to be better in taste.
Service standards have detoriated a bit over the years and placing an order for a single vadapav may b looked down upon, as experienced by me.
This place has nostalgic value more than anything else. Love the Gini Dosa, Vada Pav and Grilled Sandwiches.

The entire food lane opposite Mithibai is buzzing with super street food & Dhiraj is one of the most popular joint there ( Have tried everything here over the years )
If you love street food then you have to try everything @ Dhiraj / food stalls atleast once

3) Cheese Mysore Sada - If you want a light Dosa without filling than tis is the one I order
4) Paneer Masala / Chilly Dosa - Depending whether u prefer the Indian or Chinese gravy order accordingly

1) Cheese grilled Sandwich- All time fav
All Veges , grilled , cheese , sauces - Yum
2) Veg Toast sandwich - If grill is not for u or is too big then go for a veg toast ( not masala toast )
3) Sada sandwich - For any & everyone
Pav Vada
Like my Pav Vada with Garlic chutney & a hint of meetha chutney ( it just adds a sweet tinge to the entire flavour )
Chocolate milkshake is my fav drink ( don’t prefer soda drinks )
Overall a fast food paradise & there a a few joints along that lane to keep you tempting & wanting to hog all day all night
It's a nice fast food place we had gini Dosa and loved it must go place for sure that mithibai students are regular over there.

Food was good but I found it too expensive when compared to surroundings no proper place to sit or keep your plate for comfortable dine rest the good is good worth trying

All time favourite vadapav joint opposite mitjibai college.at times I feel this place is overhyped but then when you eat these unique and huge butter laden Vada pav, you realise you're just wrong and you get lost in serendipity!
Surely on one of the many outlets worth trying for the vada pav! Tastes different & delicious! I'd recommend trying the regular vada pav, jini dosa, regular dosa and I'm sure you're leaving the place with a happy fulfilled tummy! One of the many outlets from mumbai which u can't miss if you are a vada pav fan!
