The morning breakfast served here is so tastey and easily affordable and that too.is unlimited so.for big gatherings you can easily accommodate.
This place is THE best for authentic south Indian food in matunga..
I had :
1. Spring dosa
2. Bisi bele bhaat
3. Persarettu
4. Diamond
My favorite dish is spring dosa, cooked in ghee and vegetable filling with coconut with 3 chutneys
Instead of butter they use ghee which is so fresh and flavourful..even the rasam is so good its the best i had ever had..must try
I think each dish on their menu is wonderful and wouldn't disappoint you.
Also the staff is very helpful.
Matunga is a place full restaurants serving traditional south indian food. Shri Sunders holds a dignified position amongst all of these places. I have been a regular visitor to this place. they have variety of Dosas to offer. ranging from Nachni Dosa, Sabudana dosa to regular masala and sada dosa. They also serve Puri bhaji and other staple thais. I tried the Nachni Dosa and Moong Dosa. Both were tasty and totally worth the money. The service is also quick and the staff is polite. I liked their coffee too. Recommended over many others in Matunga.
This place is located Opposite Opp Kabutarkhana Next To Z Bridge Near, Matunga Central Railway Workshop. Shree Sunders does its bit to elevate its positioning from ‘an udipi restaurant’ by serving food in clear glass cutlery. The variety of dosas is a huge draw here.
Chinese and South Indian fusion at its best in this Matunga eatery – Noodles and Soya Sauce wrapped in a dosa. There are Set Dosas too – twin dosas served with vegetable curry. Dosa purists can order a Masala Dosa served on a gleaming green banana leaf in a plate.
The restaurant is very clean and decent, whatever food I had it was very delicious and my money spent was definitely worth it.
It’s a small cozy place, amazing Idlies and one should try their set dosas. Most of the items we ordered were tasty and fresh, very authentic. The mango juice during the season is best.
The Best Place For Casual Lunch,Dining,Snacks...We Ordered A Mini Meal Which Includes Puri,2 Veg.,Masala Rice, Raita, Papad...The Ambience Is Quite Good,Optional with AC/non AC...Good Place to dine or lunch with family...
.
The Puri Was Nice,Soft and tasteful,The paneer palak and potato gravy was just lit,and rice Was Tasty,The Raita was pich of sour and sweet
.
What Are you waiting for go with your family and friends and enjoy the food...
One of the best hidden gems in King's circle /matunga area, very economical on the pocket , They are 100 times better than much hyped Cafe Madras, Cafe Madras has to take a leaf from Shree Sunder's book. Cafe Madras is small , crowded , they make patrons wait , food is atrocious , no VFM , more than half the things on menu not available ever.
Hidden gem in Matunga, I'd say. Located right outside as you step down from Z Bridge of Matunga.. Visited only twice in my dine line. Good food.. Less crowded as compared to some popular/hyped eateries around. You must definitely try out the variety of Dosas and South Indian Rice dishes they offer here.. A unique menu.. Oh and the chai was just awesome.. Look forward to more visits to try out more dishes in future! :)
Ahhh... Shree sundars the best authentic for south indian cuisine... Must try dis place... The taste n spice jst blends with cuisine... Try appam with veggie stew...
And you simply cannot resist going again once you have savored those bonafide meals. Menu is represented with such ease that it actually effortless to choose out your order.

Love this place. The dosas , vadas are lovely.Surprised to see chole bature sell like hot cakes
Mini Meal is worth it. The bhakri and the ragi roti make it worth the while. The coffee is nice
Just near matunga station this restaurant serves amazing tamilian food. They have some good parathas and rice options.
My favourite would be the masala and the tomato rice.
Reasonable and satisfying to the tummy.
A good and pocket friendly place. Amazing staff and good taste.
Majorly South Indian dishes are served. But a few non south Indian dishes like cholla bhatura, pav bhaji, lacha paratha meal and a few chat options are also available and taste equally good.
This is a great place to eat located just around the station. The taste and the quality is excellent and even the rates are very reasonable.
A very good food place near matunga station.suitated in a corner this restaurant services amazing food with a variety of lip smacking dishes.
If you are visiting place then do not miss trying out Stuffed paratha thali which fulls your stomach in just affordable price.
Also another combos of kulcha paratha ,chole khulcha ,lassi are must try to things here.
Take your friends for treat here or family they will love this.
This restaurant has come about 25 years ago in Matunga. Being a man from Matunga, this South Indian restaurant is also a favourite of mine. The best part about this restaurant is that it has expanded, and apart from a ground plus 1, they have acquired a second place and they now have a much bigger another first floor. This usually opens when the ground and the older upper floor is full on capacity and they have a long wait list.
This place is located opposite Kavita Khana and the famous Ram Ashray. They have a wide variety of dishes in South Indian and they also do dishes like Pav Bhaji and Chole Puri types. The quality of food is excellent and so is the quantity. Some restaurants hike their price and reduce the size of the servings, but this place is an absolute value for your money. Delicious Dosas, Idlis and vadas are my all time favourite.
I would highly recommend this restaurant, even to the folks loyal to Ram Ashray who would wait for an hour for their table, please visit this place. I recommend being a big lover of South Indian food and being Matunga’s local guy.
You can imagine how much we like the place from the fact that our family of 9 people (young and old) try and visit this place every now and then on a Sunday morning or afternoon for a brunch / lunch all the way from Juhu (to Matunga).
Love the Rava Idli / Kanjeevaram Dosa ans especially the Thali!!
The Sitaphal Icecream / shake is to die for!!
This is a small place close to Matunga station and kind of an old place. I have been visiting this restaurant since my childhood, the food taste remains the same. They have different varieties of dosa's, idli, wada and also north indian food.
My favorites here are the pineapple sheera, idi appam, adai dosa.
Recently I also tried the pav bhaji dosa and the bhakti thali. It was also good.
Best service by staff mr deepak...was very polite guy.food as per the price was awesome this was the first experience...sure i will visit next time had a great time all the best thanks for the good quality food and service
Good food has a kind of romance attached to it. There is no sincere love than the love of the place you have been going from your childhood. The sight of food cooked to perfection and the flavours of warm dosai that are an explosion on the taste buds are enough to make you fall in love with it.
Situated close to the matunga station and Z-bridge
this place has a variety of delicacies to offer
Mostly overcrowded during weekends this place serves affordable and amazing South Indian food
The pineapple sheera was lovely and the Medu Wada Sambar is my go to!
Appams & Iddiappams are served only on Sunday
The Chole Bhature are also pretty amazing & many also enjoy the Pav Bhaji
The South Indian thali is going to be my next try .
Last But Not The Least the Filter Coffee Is a Must Try!!!
"Shree Sunders", Typical small outlet amidst the crazy streets Matunga which doesn't dilute the fact that the taste of every thing was toooo good. Classical dishes along with some awesome fusions.
.
.
"Idli Burger", 2 large fried idlis sandwiching a tomato omlette and lots of shredded cheese on top. This is a must try!!!! I would definitely recommend this to everyone if they have a thing for all the aforementioned ingredients.

Shree Sunders has been serving authentic, tasty food over the years. Nothing fancy, but definitely one of the nice places to visit for a good variety of South Indian snacks. My top favorite is Pesarettu with Upma. It’s an excellent combination, which was recommended by a friend to me and is a must try. Goes well with filter coffee and makes for a filling, tasty meal!
Situated next to Matunga Central Station near Kabutarkhana, this place is as old as it peers when it comes to South Indian food.
I visited this place after a long period of time probably after 10 years and I remember I always used to have their Rava Dosa which would be so crisp.
This time though I was in a hurry and thought of getting a quick bite , so I went ahead with the Idli Wada Sambhar which was quite delicious and satiated my hunger pangs , the owner is very enthusiastic and full of energy which is a very good thing when it comes to handling his business.
Polite staff , better ambience then the Big 4 that is Cafe Madras, Cafe Mysore, Ram Ashraya & Arya Bhavan.
I like their outlet in Lower Parel, so when I saw their Matunga outlet, gave it a try. The place is small but the service is super quick. The crispy masala dosa was a delight.
This place is very close to matunga station and hence is very convinient to travel...the south indian cuisine they offer is too good... especially thier Mysore masala dosa and onion utthapa...and must mention the sambar,it has its own unique taste and is delicious...must try!!
We happened to visit Shree Sunders for a sudden brunch!
🍀What We Had -
😬Nachni dosa - A must try dosa as you don’t get to eat nachni dosa everywhere!👍
😬Chaas - Great. Very expensive though😟
😬Chole Bature - just Superb 👍

The near by place offers a lot of south Indian food and here's another competitor to the others. Offers more than south indian food thou bt this restaurant is also certainly not to be missed. Perfect for a healthy breakfast morning.
When my family stayed in Wadala, we visited this café often. Their dahi vada and rava dosa have always done justice to the taste buds but the prize goes to the rasam vada which is mind-blowing. The rasam is spicy and bursting with flavors!
There’s not much to the ambiance but the place is clean. Their timely service is commendable even when the eatery is crowded.
January 2018
Had been here for lunch on a week day. Had read bad reviews for the service earlier on zomato. So went with such expectations. There isnt much to say about service, its just like any other small restaurant. Neither best nor bad.
Lets come to food. Food here is actually amazing. There is a wide range of dosas available with some fancy ones too. They taste really nice. They are priced optimally considering the quality of seating (which u wont find in most restaurants in Matunga). I also had curd rice which was lip smacking. In dosas i tried set dosa and diamond dosa and both were yum.
Worth a visit to enjoy yummy food. For everythng else put a blind eye.
Just a few meters away from Matunga station. These guys are prompt in service. Yaha order diya waha on ur table.. Being a South Indian rest. I tried there idli which was hot but not fresh in evening, masala dosa and sada dosa with hot sambar which makes ur evening perfect. I am black coffee drinker so I tired this too which simply amazing this coffee was just amazing no comparison and also try there Sita fal shake which was too mouth watering (though i wasn't having).. Do try this place for South Indian cuisine.
I found this restaurant not very spacious and you might have to wait here for your turn during peak lunch time.so, Space/ambience (2.5/5). We ordered chole bhature and dosa and to my surprise I found one of nicest chole bhature in a south Indian restaurant., so food (4/5). Prices are not too high, very much in accordance to what and how they serve.
One of my favourite restaurants. It has authentic south indian food at decent prices. If one cares only about food and not ambience, this is the best one to find. I love the variety and taste every single time I visit and I've brought all my friends & family here at different times and it has always lived upto my expectations.
One of the most unexplored places in Matunga .
Generally Matunga is known for great South Indian food and amongst this most popular are Ramashray and Cafe Madras
We went to Matunga with the thought of visiting Cafe Madras but unfortunately by the time we reached it was shut
Then we reached Ramashray, but the waiting was way too much and we were extremely hungry
Shree Sunders is located opposite Ramashray and we thought of just going there instead of waiting.
And this place completely surprised us to another level.
Great authentic South Indian food and a complete satisfying experience
We Tried
Set Dosa - Fluffy dosa spread with butter and instead of sambar it was served with South Indian curry . We have not had a better set dosa than this .
Rava Dosa - Crispy , cooked to perfection with the right amount of oil. The batter was so good which indeed showed when the final output was ready . Must try dish.
Maharashtrian Thali - At first we were reluctant to try this but then we finally called for it . Every item in the thali was tasty and was a complete delight
Chief Foodie Officer - Highly recommended . Surprisingly this place is not so popular as compared to the other South Indian joints in the area but surely at par.
PS - This place sells some great home made gun powder , rasam powder.

This hotel is close to Matunga Station and one of the oldest hotels. Initially the food was great and service too. But now a days, both service and food quality has come down.
Food :
We have visited this hotel 'N' no of times. We have tried everything. Pav Bhaji, Spring Dosa, Ragi Dosa, neer Dosa all are good.
Service:
Service was definitely good once upon a time. Now it's kinda pathetic. The staff are rude and not bothered.
Overall, if we don't get a table anywhere we come here. It's our last resort. If you have option, pls go somewhere else.
Situated write next to Matunga station. This place is known for its South Indian food and they've added alot many items and varieties to the South Indian menu and thus one would not call short of items even in large groups. The dishes are well prepared and I specially loved the gun powder chutney that they serve along with the dishes. It is very delicious. I would say a must visit place for all South Indian food lovers!
Pocket friendly with wide variety of typically South Indian food which has outstanding taste and authenticity... their thalis and bhaat are yumm...
LOCATION –SHREE SUNDAR is a south Indian pure vegetarian restaurant situated close to Matunga (e) station near matunga kabutar khana .
AMBIANCE – Simple yet stylish ; spread over ground (non AC) & 1st floor (AC) section .There is a waiting of ½ to 1 hr on weekends as the place is packed .
FOOD – Residing in the same vicinity this place is frequented by myself as a kid . We used to go here for breakfast post our early morning walks at 5 gardens . Recently I went here for dinner & ordered the spring dosa. The quantity is sufficient for 1 person .The dosa was very crisp & loaded with vegetables .
SERVICE – 15 mins for an order to be executed . The staff is friendly .
OVERALL – It is little expensive considering there are many joints in Matunga serving similar cuisine .
One of my favorite place in Matunga. I had been there several times. I like their masala dosa. After having food go for coffee. Lassi is good there. Decent sitting and not heavy on pocket. One should try their thali. Service is OK.
One great place in Matunga. The food here is delicious. Especially the thali. Generous amount. Laccha parathas are definitely worth the try. You get a proper home served like meal. The seating arrangement is quite good. Sevice is okay.
I visit this place atleast once a week, you will enjoy the food here, a bit expensive compared to similar hotels in matunga but worth it, lacha paratha and chole bhature is highly recommended, you get variety of side dishes with your order in almost all the dishes.. I also loved the coffee here. Overall quality food served and ambience is also quite clean.
My mother introduced this place to me whilst I was visiting bombay years beck.
She used to love their Rava Dosa that I still eat here as a memory.
Busy. But good service. Go get some Rava Dosa.
Situated near d station this place is never crowded and always easy to find a table.. My fav here is idli burger, quiet innovative n tastes also yummmm.. Even chettinad dosa is good.. Thr is lot of different innovative dosa variety.. This place is worth a try once if u around.. V even tried d pizza dosa which was very ok..
If you are South Indian food fan, then this one of the place. Let me start with parking place. Since it is situated in heart of Matunga and close to station so don't even think of getting your car, yes bike parking is available. Food- one of the best place for rassam. They have good combinations of dosa modern and regular. When k use to go there they use to offer sitafal cream and believe that use to out of this world. If you are lucky enough please order and relish
Shree Sunders - Matunga East A well and good another south Indian cuisine restaurant situated at the exit point of matunga station as well the famous bridge of Matunga "The Z Bridge" thought it's a restaurant but also a as a separate food (snacks) counter system for the people who are getting late but can't sit and eat so they have a separate road site attached counter for them who can take away and eat in trains!!!
Ambience: Since it's being a normal food restaurant so the Ambience doesn't care main aim of this normal restaurant are to make people comfortable while eating and improve their quality and quantity!!
Food: As I said they have a separate counter for take away that counter includes famous Mumbai dishes like Wada Pav , Samosa Pav , Kanda Poha , Puri Bhaji , etc and the inside the restaurant includes the the south Indian cuisine snacks and sandwiches with ice-creams and juices as well but their quantity quality and the taste rates are upto they deserve what they ask for the rates!!!
Having studied in Matunga for 5 years, I doubt there are many food joints around that I haven't frequented. This is one of the more authentic South Indian places amongst the million or so around Matunga.
A big fan of their set dosa and idli burgers.
Very nice South Indian style rice options as well.
But what wins my heart is the meticulous attention to detail they've put in their take away packaging. Just too good.
Overall a really nice place with a taste that's unlike other typical idli-dosa places.
One more south Indian joint in Matunga east !!
The pure ghee bottles & the Mulgapudi powder chutney bottles greet you @ the entrance !!
This place is very well maintained !!
A/C section upstairs pls !!
Famous for its variety of dosas !!
Idli Burger.. with a twist !!
Set Dosa - superb.. must have. Served with white butter. Yumm.
Spring Dosa - must have !! Delicious and loaded with veggies. Served with green spicy Chutney & in house version of tomato ketchup (awesome) !!
Kancheepuram idly - superb.
Bisibile Rice - spicy and delicious !!
Lemon rice - yummy !!
They also have a variety of Rice preparations.. delicious again.
Many of their varieties are scheduled Day wise !!
They also serve some good meal combos.
Fresh fruit Juices & Faloodas are an add on here unlike other south indian joints in vicinity!!
Do visit !! Worth it !!
Shree Sunders is one to venture out of the traditional Matunga south indian fare with its range of offering. My favorites are Bareli vangi and pitla bhaji, spring dosa and many more. Service is ok and pricenot necessarily value but 1000 for a family of 7 is great for Dinner. It has had issues with authorities on permission for its upper floors but seems like its over it and place is getting back to its glory days when guests from faraway suburbs came for an experience.
Shree sunder may not be that famous but a place worth visiting when you are in and around Matunga.
There are mainly two sections the AC and the non AC. I usually prefer the AC as the siting is quite comfortable. The service though is a bit slow but the tasty food makes up to the little damage done.
Try their set dosa, it's different and a lot tastier than the other South Indian joints in Matunga.
If you are in for a meal then go with their laccha paratha, it's served with dal makhani, paneer and dahi and salad; quantity to satiate the hunger of one. Have a masala chass to gulp down the goodness or you can even order their fresh squeezed juices.
The experience won't be as awesome though as you would find at Ramashray or Madras cafe but if you are a foodie do give this restaurant a try.

Another old haunt tucked away in the cozy corners of Matunga. The variety of dosas offered here offer a yummy change to the traditional offerings around. I'd say try everything here - sandwich dosa, chinese dosa, paessarettu dosa, bissi bele bhaat etc. The food is delicious and never disappoints. Must try!
This place located near the exit of matunga station is one among of many idli dosa place within the same lane. The menu has lot to offer regular south indian snacks along with local snacks juices and icecreams.Lots of variety in dosas from various states of south indiaand rice items. Check out for the dosa of the day. I wud recommend pesrattu as it is not commonly available in the city. sevice was super quick.
This plce is located near the station.. its a good place to have south indian food they serve variety of innovative dishes like pav bhaji dosa pizza dosa idli burger and lots more.. worth a visit and very pocket friendly..
A good place to hang out with friends and grab some juices and South Indian food. Malai kulfi and idli burger is nice to try here.

An all time fav of mine, this place has really good dosas.
Our entire gang went for a dosa spree n ordered every variety of dosa v cud find in this place.
An amazing placr for authentic south indian food.
I always buy a pack of their molagapodi for dad.
I visited the place just because there was no waiting outside this restaurant..i ordered methi dosa which i found unique in the menu..to my surprise the green coloured dosa was served with smbar chutney, red powder chutney and a JAR OF GHEE..my apetite increased looking at the food..the dosa was hot, frwsh n yummy..the service is also good..
For many years, Shri Sunders had its own charm. I used to frequently visit this place with my entire family for meals and we would always leave satisfied.
However, in recent times, the place seems to have lost its way. The service has been very poor. The servers take 10 minutes to get a glass of water or provide cutlery if needed.
But one thing which would still make me want to go back here, that would be the Spring Dosa. Stuffed with good quantities of tomatoes, onion, capsicum and coconut, the Spring Dosa is served with Ketchup and Green Chutney. The chutney takes the taste of the dosa to another level.
Yeh jagah chupa hua hai.. I don't know why its not as popular as others... Its an excellent place to snack and oh, the chef special with bajra and other type of Roti's... Its a must have..kha ke dekh toh maloom padega Mai kya bolrai!
One of the nicest places to have some lovely South Indian food in Matunga East near the railway station. Serves some great set dosas, stew and rice dishes. Love this place for the different styles of dosas available here.
Great Place....Neat, Clean & serves a lot of South Indian dishes with a Twist....Set Dosa is Mouth Watering....Also a lot of other Dosa varieties are definitely woth a try...
I am visiting this place from last 10 years. For me its one of the best place for south Indian snacks. Whenever I visit Guruwayoour temple I do come to hotel for morning snacks. Place is well maintained and there service is very quick. Different varity of dosa with sambahar and idli powder. Taste of the sambhar is awesome. On festive season they special delicious. Best place to visit.
Very good and clean veg restaurant, pricing might be in a higher side for a few but it is compensated with the quantity and quality served.. Will recommend veg south indian foodies to be here.
Very tasty pavbhaji, rawa masala dosa.
If you are into south indian food, shree sunders is a must eat at place. They variety of bhats and meals they have is stupendous just like its taste. Surely not many types of fancy dosas but the mysore masala dosa couldn't be better than what they have here and by far the best sambar in the whole matunga. Their service is quite spectacular, they are really quick and serve the food really hot. The size and taste of their medu wada is applaudable, couldn't be crispier than what they serve... Thumbs up...
VERY NICE EXPERIENCE. GOOD AMBIENCE. A/C SECTION ALSO AVAILABLE. TASTY DISHES. SOUTH INDIAN FOOD. SUMPTUOS QUANTITY. BREAKFAST & LUNCH, CHAT ALSO AVAILABLE IN THE EVENING. MODERATE PRICE. SITUATED AT MATUNGA (CR). AT THE END OF Z BRIDGE STAIRCASE.

We have been a regular here. Almost every alternate Sunday we're here. They have one the largest variety of dosas I've seen in any restaurant. This Sunday for a change I ordered something regular - onion uttapa. And it was awesome too. My favourites are Malli dosa, spring dosa, paseretu dosa, steam idli and wada rasam.
Simply scrumptious. I have been coming here at least once a year with my family for three decades. The food is always delicious. We had four varieties of dosa, and the prices were reasonable. Must visit if you ever are in Matunga central.
It was a wonderful experience. The food quality is amazing and totally worth every penny. Do try their nachni dosa, they serve it with onions on te top with masala on it, with potato sabji, tomato chutney, green chutney and sambhar. Following to this, we had bisbelle bhaat, it was tasty too. And don't forget their filter coffee. The bill was under 500rs. Absolutely worth it.
This place is for amazing food. One of the aunthentic places and of very few that offers bhakari in Matunga. Their pithal, bhaji bhakri thali is all tome healthy and favorite. I have been here like 20 times+ and will continue to go over and over again. The ambience is simple but the food taste compensates for everything.
Food 5/5, taste 5/5, portions 5/5
Location 5/5 next to Matunga east railway station
Ambience 4/5 not very lavish. Great for simple and affordable lunch/dinner
The sambar is very delicious. I ate idli Wada sambar, onion uttappa and filter coffee for 182 rupees. The onion uttappa is slightly small.
If you want to taste the authentic taste of south Indian food then must visit there ..affordable price ..Don't forgot to try their 10rs paan 😅its to yummy 🤤
Had great dosa's . A must go place .
Good tasty food - Mini meals with 4 pooris, masala rice, papad, 2 curries n 1 sweet, also good ghee dhosa n pesarrata. Also their Chaas n fresh orange juice was relishing
Only one thing one should keep in mind - if going to have food upstairs - one has to MIND their head while entering coz it's low roofing
Shree Sunders, a South Indian restaurant located in the heart of Matunga, is a delightful culinary experience that takes you on a nostalgic journey through the rich flavors of South India. As soon as we stepped inside, we were warmly welcomed by the owner with a genuine smile, creating a friendly and inviting atmosphere.
The menu boasts a wide array of classic South Indian delicacies, and we decided to try their signature dishes: masala dosa, sada dosa, uttapa, and idli. Each dish was prepared with utmost care and attention to detail, resulting in a burst of authentic flavors with every bite. The masala dosa was perfectly crisp on the outside, generously filled with a flavorful potato masala, while the sada dosa had a delicate texture that complemented the accompanying chutneys and sambar exceptionally well.
The uttapa was a delightful surprise, cooked to perfection with a golden-brown crust and a soft, spongy center. It was generously topped with a medley of vegetables and aromatic spices, making it a delectable treat. The idli was light and fluffy, serving as a wonderful accompaniment to the other dishes.
Apart from the mouthwatering food, the service was top-notch. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, helping us make informed choices based on our preferences. The owner's personal touch in interacting with the customers added a special touch to the overall dining experience.
One of the standout features of Shree Sunders is its rich history. Having been in operation for seventy years, the restaurant has become an integral part of the community, catering to generations of South Indian food enthusiasts. This longevity is a testament to the consistent quality and dedication to preserving authentic flavors over the years.
The restaurant's location was easy to find, and ample parking space was available nearby, making it convenient for us to reach the place without any hassle.
In conclusion, our visit to Shree Sunders was an unforgettable culinary journey, and we left with happy hearts and satisfied taste buds. If you're in the mood for genuine South Indian cuisine served with warmth and love, Shree Sunders is a must-visit destination. Whether you're a regular patron or a first-time visitor, the restaurant's authentic taste and warm hospitality will surely win you over.
