Good food and the fish was fresh
Ordered for a chicken curry and rice. The chicken was tender and gravy was very home made gravy didn't feel like you were eating from a restraunt. Its got the mothers touch to it. Over all the meal was very satisfying and very tasty.
A very workman like fish joint. If you want to see what Gajalee and ilk were like before they became swish places then check this out. Extremely decent price points for fish. The fish is extremely competently prepared. The fried prawns have a thicker than normal coating but are succulent, sweet and fresh. Everything fishy here is extremely fresh. Tried the mutton vajri which is amongst the better vajris in Mumbai but Chaitanya probably tops the list for now. The sol kadi and curry along with the fish are excellent. Go here if you are in the area and feel like having multiple varieties. The price and quantity are decent even for a single person. The rice bhakris are above average.
Superb food in very lor prices, Very good service and ambiance. I have enjoy the gomantak food in mumbai central. It is closed to tardeo and mumbai central station.

I had ordered crab rice plate with one extra roti.The crabs were fresh and juicy.Crab is my favorite and they did a justice to it.All this came for only 170 rs which is really awesome. This made my day.

Prompt friendly service, tasty fresh food, simple neat ambience. What more could one ask for at that price! The Bangda fry rice plate was sumptuous and very filling. Fish was also well made with just the right crisp and coating. Of special mention is the fish gravy/rasa with coconut milk.

Since I stay right next to this restaurant, we order from here at least once a week. The owner is very sweet and always delivers. The food is yummy and spicy and very very pocket friendly. I'd recommend it for any fan of Malvani food.
PS: I usually order the mutton rice plate. That includes a mutton dry dish, 2 chapatis, a gravy, and rice, for 120 bucks.

Gomantak just goes by it's name..it's more famous than most of the other Malvani Restaurants across Mumbai..
Being right next to Grant Road station in the west, this joint has been in motion regularly..Fishy, Malvani foods are common here..Most people working/staying in nearby areas have visited this joint atleast once in their lives..
The waiters here are friendly, very prompt..The service is quick..
As for Food, they mainly serve malvani thalis, which they call 'rice plates', that are cheap in pricing, hence fit in anyone's budget..The quantity has been a little problem here..A-la-carte based dishes seem less quantity (1 dish per person..)...
But dishes are consistent in matters to taste..Thumbs Up to the Cooks!!
The Fish Frys that you get here are mind wobbling..Try the Bombil(Bombay Duck) Fry, Bangda Fry, Prawns Fry, Halwa Fry, Pomfret Fry & Surmai Fry..Also just don't miss out on the "Gaboli Fry"
For Gravies, Chicken/Mutton Sukka is one hell of an awesome dish..
Never try egg Masala & kheema Masala..you won't like it..
Those who like Squids, Squids Masala is good..
To end with, Kokam kadi is the best you will get in town..
