This place is really good for family and friends, both. Very hygienic and provides quality food. Though not so budget friendly, especially for students. But never the less, one can try the food here to enjoy authentic kerelan dishes. I have tried all their ranges of kerela's chicken main courses and my all time favourite is kerela paratha, chicken kozi varutharachathu and kozi porichathu. :)

Hands down one of the best places selling Kerala food in the city. I've been going to this place for a long time now and I'll always be up for a meal at this place! The staff would even recommend the best dishes to you and they've never disappointed.

We called for:
1. Prawns fry: They fry the fish with the skin and serve them with it. It's crispy and very very tasty. Well you could always ask them to not keep the skin. Those ones also taste equally good.

2. Irachi Kutton: It's lamb curry and it tastes AMAZING. It's fairly spicy, club it with Malabar paratha / neer dosa/ appam and it will be a supreme combination!

3. Chicken Stew: It's a curry made with coconut milk and again club it with some bread and you'll be good to go! It's filled with these amazing flavours you'll definitely love it!
We always tend to order one stew and one kutton and the combination always works well for us. The curries are so yum, we just lose track of the number of parathas and dosas we order to finish it. Also we could never possibly get enough of the food out here

4. Fish curry: Another coconut milk preparation, should be clubbed with plain rice and there you've got a Kickass combination!

Pick any dish, I can vouch it won't disappoint you!
We literally wiped the curry bowl clean because not a single drop can possibly be wasted. If you're heading for lunch try to make it before 2pm so that you can avoid the rush and also avoid some of the dishes going unavailable.

Just go visit already!

All these with Appam&Kerala Parotta.

Dessert - Palada

Everything was super duper tasty and a delight to the taste buds except the mutton was not properly cooked. Worth a try !

Primarily popular for its Kerela style food, this is a small and a very old restaurant near Chembur station. It serves amazing South Indian food and if you ever crave for Appams and Kerela style food, you should go here.

We started with really juicy and tasty chicken lollipops. Then came the dishes that were recommended by the restaurant - Kozhi Varutharachathu and Kozhi Porichathu. The latter is a dry Chicken preparation and the former is a chicken curry with coconut base. Both tasted supremely tasty with Appams (Appams are must haves here).

Service is prompt and staff is helpful and courteous.
Would return for the Appams.

When your dad is happy with the food . It means a lot !!!
As it was my birthday yesterday , I asked dad what do you want for dinner and he was like food from Udaya Lunch home . So mum and me came to pick up food for him. For dad we ordered for Fish Moilee ( 300 ) which was loved by him . He found it tooo tasty and same goes with the Crab Masala ( 250 ) , he even loved the Mandil Fry ( 100 ) and Ghee Rice ( 110 ) . I drank Fresh Lime Soda ( 40 ) which was nothing special , just like how we get always and mum had Chicken Sweet Corn ( 120 ) which was okayish.
Ambience wasnโ€™t anything great as such nor do I care much for it.
Servers were prompt and humble.
In short when dad is happy , the food has to be good.
Total bill - 920

These guys are Bosses when it comes to Kerela cuisine.
Must trys are:-

Fish Moilee
There's another Malabar dish which I can't spell or even pronounce so I suggest ask the server (the same guy has been there since forever.)

Have been a regular here now over the years.

The restaurant is inside one of those tiny lanes near Chembur station.

Absolutely love their food. Gives you this sense of having food at home. Lovely aromatic flavours alongwith the essence of coconut in almost all their dishes.

It is authentic Malabari food at its best. The Nadaan Chicken Chilly, Chicken Ishtu and Nadaan Kozhi Korma are dishes that you must absolutely try from here.

Nadaan Chicken Chilly is essentially fried, chunky bits of chicken. The fact that it is fried in coconut oil separates it from your run of the mill chilly.

Ishtu and Korma are essentially similar and coconut milk based gravies where the spices eventually differentiate it from Thai. The difference in the gravies is probably the level of spiciness.

And any of the malabar curry in chicken ,mutton as well as seafood .

Udaya Restaurant(also called as Udaya Lunch Home)is one of the oldest establishments in Chembur. It specialises in South Indian (Kerala and Mallu) Cuisine.
Although it is located near Chembur Station, the place is situated in a quiet area. Parking space might not be available.
โ—AMBIENCE: There's nothing special as such about the ambience. The A.C dining hall is preferable and comfortable.
โ—FOOD: The 'Malabari Special' Menu is highly recommended..
Had NADAN CHILLI CHICKEN(batter-fried Chicken pieces tossed in the typical kerala-style) and KOZHI VARAATHARACHAYADU(lighly spiced coconut-based Chicken curry) with APPAM. Appams are a must-have out here along with any gravy.
Service isn't remarkable but the food is Must-try if in Chembur. ๐Ÿ˜Š

A good south Indian restaurant serving non-veg food in the vicinity is a blessing for both non veg and South Indian food lovers..udaya was a good find by one of my friends as it is located in one of those tiny little shady looking lanes that no one will be able to spot it.. Yet we discovered it and we were happy to visit only to realize that there is humongous waiting at this restaurant on both week days as well as week ends..and we decided to visit on a week day and got a table with a waiting period of 10 minutes..
It is a tiny little place with AC in one section and they serve variety of chicken, prawns and mutton gravy with appam and parotha.. The food is very well cooked with lot of spices and kadi patta..the butter chicken here tastes different from that in a good punjabi joint but it is delicious..
The best part - loved this restaurant even more after getting the check..4 of us could finish our meal for 500 per couple only..service is just OK but you can't expect more out of this..all in all recommended

In the crowded markets of chembur , did i actually discover a gem of a restaurant. Talk to a foodie about good food and nothing else matters. Not even dirty kitchens, to rats running around, or even for that matters crab shells on tables. Definitely any logical human will derive an inference that this place doesn't score well in the hygiene category, but keeping apart the hygienic standard issues , the food here is gobsmackingly delicious.
For 5 adults, the bill didn't even cross 1.5 k , which was a tremendous achievement for my wallet. Anyway coming back to the food, we had the prawn fry , which was served with the head and the entire shells including it's legs .
The mutton coconut fry was beautiful served with a thick gravy and well done meat .
The highlight of the evening was the chicken in yellow coconut gravy which was orgasmic ! We also ordered another chicken item which had a thick gravy to it and spicy chilly masala teamed with coconut and kadipatta .
Generally i have seen that people don't enjoy an overload of coconut and kadipatta , but me being a south indian and an ardent south indian non veg food fan absolutely enjoyed it . also had a plate of meen polichattu , which is a unique kind of keralite paste applied on the fish , but i didn't quite enjoy this one as it had a lot of mustard. The Chicken lollipop was delicious. All of this was accompanied with sumptuous kerala parathas . A perfect stuffing meal .

Epic is the only yet understated word to describe it. Authentic as hell. The Appams...the very best that can be manufactured in any kitchen...the range of seafood gravies that go well with those soft rice appams are just as drool worthy as spicily delicious their gravies are...the desserts options are also very regionally epic...to the caramel custards to the rice kheer...this hotel is very close to my stomach.. I have been visiting this restaurant for the past 12 years and the food has been the same with no,change in taste or flavour whatsoever. The old school wooden ambience lends itself really well to the authentic Kerala cuisine served here . I have virtually tried every possible dish on the menu. Its fun reading the menu card cuz the actual Malayalam names for the dishes are given . Good luck trying to pronounce them ๐Ÿ˜†. The appams, the seafood curries , the chicken starters , that wonderful lunchplate. Wow!! Amazing place ! Nd it's such a shame that such a nice restaurant is literally hidden from plane sight ppl who frequent this restaurant will know what I am talking about. Nd the best part is the reasonable price .

If you want to authentic Kerala dishes and don't want to go the town: this is place for you. Situated between a paint and jewelry shop: don't get fooled with the appearance. Families and food lovers visit alike. It's one of oldest joint in Chembur.

Coming to the food we had lamb soup, chicken fry, neichoru, chicken curry, caramel custard and payasam. All the items were excellent. Portion size is good and as all mallu restaurants the cost is on the lower side. I would definitely love to see some renovation of the hotel. It is clumsy in size and the a.c. sitting area only accommodates five table.

Udaya Family Restaurant is simply the best place to go try Malayalee Food. It is located in one of the by lanes next to Chembur station and it is one of those restaurants which are difficult to spot even if you have directions.

But once you find this place make sure you try their Parota with Chicken Kurma. The Kurma is so well made. It is light and made of coconut curry. It is mildly spiced but tastes oh so good. Even their biryani is quite good. Do try their Tandoori Chicken Kerala style and their Naadan Chilly Chicken. They have taken the best of both the worlds to create these two dishes and they have done a good job of it.

They take a lot of time to serve so be prepared to wait. But the wait is definitely worth it!

Udaya is chembur market's well kept secret . Situated in a tiny alley by the main road ,it's a blink and miss sort of situation .

The ambience is very homey and down right south Indian with appetizing aroma everywhere .
The food is amazing .Kerala cuisine is highly recommended although judging other people's reactions ,Chinese food is equally tasty . Prawns Ghee Roast, Naadan chicken chilly and their Daal Tadka are an absolute delight to your senses and nothing less .The fish thaali is nice too.
The staff is friendly and the prices are very reasonable. Quick service.
If you're in the area and crave authentic, lip smacking Indian food ,you can visit this place without a second thought .

Udaya has been providing comfort meals to students of TISS for a while now, and my friends and I are not to be left behind. When my friend's father (bless the kind soul) decided to take us out for lunch somewhere close, we promptly decided that it had to be Udaya for that nice, homely, satisfying Sunday lunch. We went for the staple chicken ishtu and the appams. We also decided to go for their Mutton Nadan Korma which was a treat to the tummy. The mutton was tender and the gravy so delicious that it would make you forget the meat. However, the service is excruciatingly slow and would make you snatch expectant looks every time a dish enters the room.ย
I have also tried their biryani, chicken lollipops and fish moiley on seperate occasions. Though they are great too, it is the chicken ishtu and the new found love for nadan korma makes me miss Udaya now that term is over.

Udaya is one of my favourite restaurants in Chembur. And there is no other reason apart from the DELICIOUS food.
You must absolutely order their Chicken Ishtu. Chunks of chicken cooked in a coconut base. The dish is very light but very, very tasty.
i also love their Mutton Nadan Kurma. The mutton is so tender and the gravy is so fabulous, that you will keeping asking for more.ย
The dishes go perfectly well with Appam, which are likes rotis made out of rice flower.
Food: 5/5
Ambiance: 3.5/5

The food takes a LOT of time to arrive. But its definitely worth the wait.

The absolute taste of Kerala! Chicken sukha for the starters, Chicken Malwani with Appams for main course and Prawns Biryani makes a complete superb dinner. The Appams are just too good, a small lunch home hidden away but worth a visit or even delivery.

Visited this place on Sunday. Really hard to find but they all say good things are difficult to get... We tried the chicken thali, the Kerala paranthas, kallumakya masala and pachakari Kurma.
Before I talk about the taste let me warn you guyz of the quantity they dooll out... the portions were quite surprisingly large. Now to the taste... surely authentic Keralite. I just loved the taste of the food here. Special mention of the sambar.. it was just amazingly good. The pachakari Kurma was also really delicious, thanks god we tried it. Regarding the chicken dish, it was good but have tasted better chicken dishes in keralite cusine. I would surely recommend this resturant..

This place is little difficult to find as it has a very narrow entrance which you would probably not be able to locate due the crowd on chembur station road but the Kerala food served here is delicious. Don't hesitate to ask for Kallummakya varathathu even if you don't know how to pronounce it, the waiters do understand. Also try malabari paratha and appams with Nadan kozhi kurma.
Besides the Kerala food you can try butter chicken.

My all time fav food destination. Despite being there umpteen number of times , got around writing a review only now. Apart from being close to home , The deliciousness of the food keeps me coming back for more . by now have arrived at my staple favs here Ayakura Pollichattu ( steamed fish in yummy tasting spices in banana leaf) , Prawn Fry ( crispy fried spicy prawn in curry leaves and chillies), Kozi Korma( Light yellow divine Chicken in coconut gravy) , Parotha. In Veggie delites its the Sambhar that steals the show and love the Banana Leaf Sadya served during Onam.
For Sweet tooth theres the tastiest Ada Pradaman.

A fully loaded meal trying out all these dishes for 4 could cost you less than rs.1500/-

High recommended, a family fav!!:)
