Had no idea about the gem was craving good sezwan fried rice and came across this
Ordered first time during the pandemic the food was really tasty and the quality and quantity both are awesome
Iconic. Perhaps the tastiest Chinese in town.
China garden is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Mumbai if not the best. It has a myriad of dishes both vegetarian and non vegetarian. It is a bit on the pricier side but it's worth a shot. We had jinchicken and butter garlic prawns for starters. Before I get on to how the food tasted, I would suggest you order half portions of all dishes you simply tell the person serving you and they'll do it. If you want to try different dishes then the half portion works perfectly for you. Now , the jin chicken was deep fried machurian ball type chicken and the butter garlic prawns was the usual type you get in all Chinese restaurants. The jin chicken was really delicious and didn't taste like your regular Manchurian ball type. Moving onto main course we had the egg fried rice and the a soya sauced based fish it was great combination for main course as the sauce complemented the rice really well. The fish was a bit crispy but not too much of an issue. The presentation of the food was good as you would see in the pictures I have added. For dessert you should definitely try the fried ice cream it's one of the specialties. Overall I Greta visit would definitely recommend it.
Something when taste bud need refreshment from Italian this to go place is Chinese food . I love corn curd here which too yum , wait for it to cool down or else you will burn your tongue . Noodles on Sizzlers is wow . Anything in veh take a try u will keep loving each time you try something .
Unlike the reviews the staff and manager were very polite and helpful. The food was amazing. The manager even suggested good dishes. Both veg and non veg items were good. The chicken was well cooked. The garlic rice was amazing. Do give this place a visit the reviews don't do justice to this authentic place.
This is a very pretty little place with so amazing Chinese food. The service it pretty excellent and the ambience is calm and classy. We ordered noodles rice and gravy and all of it was made to perfection.
Great authentic chinese food with a tranquil ambiance. The pepper chicken and hunan pepper chicken is delectable. It’s extremely crowded on weekends though and they do not entertain you without a reservation. The delhi branch however has a better menu.
Very nice Indo-Chinese food. People either hate it or love it - I personally fall in line with the latter. Favourite dishes are the pepper chicken, sesame chicken and sizzling beef. Would not order from here though as the food quality diminishes significantly when you do.
Our weekly fix restaurant !! Something about the food that keeps making you come back or maybe it’s just the nostalgia of this place!! Recommended only for dine in and not take away.
Definitely under rated on zomato. Its the best chinese place in town. From the kung pao potato to the corn curd to the wontons. Everything is great. Must try. Even the jain food is good !
Best Chinese restaurant in Malabar Hill / Warden Road area.
Must try:
1. Chicken steam wonton - 5 stars
2. Corn curd - 4 stars
3. Santung fish - 5 stars
4. Sa Po chicken - 4 stars
5. Burnt Garlic fried rice - 5 stars
Even though it is so close to my house we rarely end up going there. Went for dinner last week after almost 2 years. The food is still the same and the portions adequate. Their best part is the small and large portions which allows you to try more things.
Vintage spot in south mumbai one of the oldest places in town ! They even do half portions depending on the no of people so it’s value for money.
Must have appetisers
Corn curd
Chilly garlic prawns
Pattaya chicken in Thai green
Steamed and grilled prawn dim sum
The corn curd is a classic here and a hot vegetarian starter. I loved the Pattaya chicken usually we order Pattaya fish but wanted to try something different both are equally good and have a nice spicy coconut flavour to it. The prawn dim sum was a unique never tried dish for me and I loved it it’s a must have if you haven’t tried it.
Mains we opted for half portions of the vegetable burnt garlic fried rice and the prawns in a spicy red sauce. The portions were good and the prawns was fresh and the flavours were to die for.
They have such a vast menu it’s amazing. Have so much to try here.
Desserts we ordered the lychee ice cream since they were out of caramel custard !
They also have an amazing chocolate mousse which I have tried earlier.
Overall China Garden has a vast amazingly well curated menu for the Indian palette.
It’s a must visit place for everyone !
China garden is the pioneer for all types of Chinese food we get in Mumbai. One of the oldest restaurant in Mumbai. It has restrictions on children during weekdays. The food is fabulous. The starters Chinese fried rice and stir fried veggies or The manchurian all are fabulous. The service is excellent.
Food outstanding ambience amazing quality of food excellent service good overall 5 star 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Drinks upto the mark. Sitting arrangements very good round tables.
Been here many times can get rushed but food is excellent the service is good overall a v good experience . Egg fried rice and soups are exquisite and the momos dumplings are heavenly
A very enjoyable experience as always.
The food is to die for.
The staff are very attentive and provide excellent service.
Especially the young man who tended to our table today, Ravi Singh of Nepal.
Will definitely recommend to all my friends and followers.
Who doesnt love chinese food . We ordered for sao po chicken , traditional fried rice with chicken and schezwan soft noodles with prawns . All these dishes were perfect .
Reservation is a must otherwise they will send you back .
Kids are not allowed
Staff is rude .when the waiter was taking our order the first dish was schezwan soft noodles his suggestion and explanation about crispy noodles was right . So we ordered soft noodles and they tasted good . Then something happened which i didnt like it didnt go down well with me . The second dish i wanted was pattayan chicken which was dry so we wanted thai chicken karee since its a gravy dish but the waiter didnt write it down he said that noodles are red this is also red it wont go well . But i still wanted to have it but he just wont write down the order . Even after saying its ok we dont mind both dishes being red still he just wont write down the dish name . He suggested some other chicken dish and sao po chicken . Sao po chicken tasted really good it was awesome but forcing me to order it is not the right kind of thing . Fried rice was really tasty .
All dishes tasted good his suggestions were right and nice . The staff does offer nice suggestion and advice which cant be found in many restaurants . But i guess the staff just needs little training about being polite otherwise everything is fine
As it is said - old is gold.. A very old place but no one can tell that from the inside. The food is authentic Chinese. Definitely try the pepper chicken in starters. In main course, sapo chicken stood out. Reducing one star for serving time..
Went to China Garden after years and it’s still exactly the same! They have maintained their consistency for years and it is the perfect comfort food! The highlight of the meal was definitely the cream corn- which is the softest and creamiest I’ve ever had. We tried a dry paneer dish in a marinated Thai sauce which had great flavours and is a must try. I however, did not love the manchow soup and steamed wontons. I feel they could have been better. In mains, we called for fried rice and chilli paneer in a gravy sauce which were really delicious and yum. For dessert we had the honey noodles with ice cream which is a classic and is always a good idea. The best part at China garden is that they have half portions options so that you can order more dishes. Even their half portions have a good quantity and is definitely value for money.
Very courteous staff, oozes old Bombay charm! Good portions and nice food. This one is for regular visits forever! Must try their chocolate mousse.
Good old chinese food over here. Just follow your heart here, good food. Feel good food atmosphere. Courteous staff just added to d dining experience.
Authentic Chinese food that is finger licking good. China garden serves not only non vegetarian options but fantastic vegetarian ones too. The mock meat adds great variety for vegetarians. The corn cream and sesame prawns are really good. The fruit punch to the mushroom pot rice to the chocolate mouse at the end for dessert makes it a Ravishing meal. One whose craving yum Chinese food , should surely visit!
Chinese lovers, this is the place you need to head to. The place is reasonably priced and good ambience but above all is the great food. It's authentic yet flavoursome and a delight for me especially because I had multiple Jain options which are not easy to find. I ordered the steamed wontons, spicy pepe paneer, fried rice and manchurian and each of them lived up to my expectations. Totally loved the experience!
Located in the top notch area of kemps corner , the dream place for having a home, china garden is one of the oldest and renowned places serving chinese cuisine . We tried lots of starters and were satisfied with all. The way dishes were served ( u can see in the pictures) was truly amazing. Prawns are a must try and the dumplings were superb. The noodlea and rice dishes were normal nothing special. We liked the starters the best
One of the oldest places in the city that serves authentic Chinese. Chinese is my favourite cuisine and china garden compliments one of my favourite Chinese diner. Their service is very fast and the restaurant staff is very kind. It gives you a very authentic taste of Chinese food. Things to order- prawn curry and bacon chicken fried rice. Starters- tempura dumplings
Nice ambience and great food. Reminded me of restaurants in Chinatown in San Francisco
Loved the Manchow Soup and the Gin Chicken
Even the soba noodles with kung pao chicken was awesome.
Didnt like the red pepper chicken.
Must try. One of the best restaurants for asian cuisine in the city!
The ambience is great. I love munching on the Kimchi whilst I wait for my food. The food here is great. The prices are a little too expensive but a great experience overall and brings back a lot of childhood memories. ❤️
The best ChIndian in town since the past 20+ years now. Love going here for lunches, we avoid dinners as the place becomes a fish market with over zealous guests each trying to pipe the others voice down. As for the food, it's always been amazing and what I love the most of this restaurant is that they do half portions so even if you're just 2 people you can try an array of things.
Its "Indian Chinese" at its best. Lip smacking, A very SOBO ambience :-) :-) . The round tables (not very common now a days) are a delight ! #Legacy#Chinese

Legendary Indian Chinese restaurant of the 80s with food to die for! The genesis of Indian Chinese cuisine can be sampled at this restaurant. They don't use MSG in their food which is why we love coming back. Though the food is good, we reminisce and miss the taste of the food served in the 80s, service is good (special mention, Mr Ashok). Mainland China and places alike don't even come close. I hope Mr Nelson Wang takes notice of the reviews and does something to bring back the authenticity of this place that once was.
Here's what we usually come back for and we recommend:
1. Chicken Spring Roll/Veg Spring Roll
2. Fried Corn cream
3. Gin Chicken (great starter)
4. Haka Mein Foon (favourite, best in Mumbai)
5. Chicken Fried rice (good)
6. Vegetable Haka chow mein/Chicken Teppan soba noodles (very good)
7. Spicy Ginger chicken (taste not as before, Haka Chicken and Chilli chicken are better options these days, try their preparations made in the Iron wok)
8. Chicken Hot Garlic (again, taste used to be great in the 80s)
9. Soya and wine Chilly Chicken
10. Chicken Sapo (very good, spicy)
11. Chicken Tepanyaki (very good)
12 Chilly Garlic Prawns/Chilly Pepper Prawns (excellent)
13. Soya and wine Chilly Prawn
14. Schezwan Butterfly Prawn in Garlic (Gourmet Prawn)
15. Caramel Custard
Our go to Chinese restaurant and we do hope that the restaurant is able to reinstate it's 80's glory.
Thanks and Best wishes.
This has been one of my most favourite places, for authentic chinese food since childhood.
Cant get enough of their fried corn cream, kung pao potatoes, veg spring rolls, crispy fried vegetables in szechuan sauce, traditional chinese fried rice, chocolate mousse.
The food is as yummy as ever.
Service is good. The ambiance is simple but its the food that always amazes me!!
Love!!❤✌👏
One of my favorite restaurants...I have been visiting this place since I was little and i still just can't get enough of the food! The quality of the food has remained the same over the years and the taste is great. The fact that this place hasn't been overshadowed by all the new places opening speaks volumes about the food they serve. I'd love to recommend the gin chicken, the corn curd and all the soups on the menu...superb stuff.
The portions are totally worth the money.
The ambience is amazing too!
I'm a huge fan of this place and I'd give them a five in all areas.
Well I am surprised that I have not done this pilgrimage before. The birthplace of the manchurian and the legend of Nelson Wang. The poster child Indian Chinese food.
To begin with I felt that the weight of its own legacy weighs too heavily on itself. The place is stuck in between and has failed to respond to the changes that have taken place. The fact remains it no longer commands the same awe and respect that it did in the 80s and 90s. It is facing a similar dilema that the famed Kolkata Tangra( china Garden has its roots there) Chinese eateries are facing- loosing relevance
The soup and starters- chilli pepper prawns, mun chow and pork in wine sauce were pretty average and run of the mill. I would rate it 3
The main course- mein foon, chinese fried rice and sapo chicken was really good. The mein foon is excellent. The portions were also great. Overall gets a 4
Price - The food is pretty reasonably priced when you consider the portion size and location and overall ambience. The alchohol however is too expensive. I noticed that very few diners were actually ordering alchohol at all
Ambience- Gets 4.5, big place with a certain old world charm about it
Service- The senior staff were nice, helpful but the younger guys were stressed out, slow, confised and clearly avoiding responsibility. We had to serve ourselves a few times since the waiters were avoiding eye contact as much as possible. Gets a 3
My recommendation is do go there and reminisce the food that was considered avant garde and cutting edge in the 80s. It is not anymore. Sapo Chicken and Mein Foon will definately be there in my order when I visit next
No point in reviewing CG!
Nothing's changed all these years. Same old great food, same old top class service and same old reasonable prices. All hats off for Mr Wang.
The best chinese place ever !! We order the same food every time and it just never seems to disappoint us. Consistency in taste over the years is incredible, our personal fav being corn cream and chocolate mousse.
Legacy restaurant.. my family has been going to this place for 2 generations.. It is a bit expensive and worth every penny.. for 6 people from starter to desert ~price is 6000-8000rs. For those who prefer quality-it is a go to place.. Ask for ANDREW, you will realize they do not make such bearer's anymore.. I could eat here every other day
It's one of the oldest Chinese restaurants, In this vicinity. I love the vibe of this place. Everything here looks Chinese. Food, ambience everything.

Yep China Garden is a recurring instance.
One can never say no to China Garden.
The Food is great.
The staff are ever helpful and courteous.
Absolute delight and can never tire from going there again and again.
Just like Mumbai - CG83 is a feeling!
Been to this and another outlet in Khar.
Their chain of restaurants offer the best authentic Asian cuisine.
Great service and courteous staff.
Values for money.
Highly recommend.
这个地方给我中国的气息, 继续阅读。
Answer to the most authentic Chinese in Bombay since 1987(server told me). According to legends this was the favourite party spot for all the celebrities during the era of Vinod Khanna, Vinod Khan etc....
Coming to food #amazing #authentic
Expect simple authentic Chinese only
Large menu tough to decide but their old loyal experienced waiters would help your way through
Decor classic old Chinese fine dine , much expected over all amazing concept by the legendary chef Mr Nelson.
Now coming to my personal experience,
The food takes at least 30-45 min to come hence take a entertaining companion along 😜
Service is nice but idk about the others but I don’t like waiting so long for food.
Getting a table on a Sunday is tough to make your bookings prior.
休息一切都很棒
干杯!!!!
Craving Chinese?
China garden is the answer. I’ve been there several times as I stay close by. Honestly I love the food over here. It’s authentic and delicious. Even the servings aren’t very small. Soups and starters are enough sometimes to satisfy my cravings. They have a huge literally a big menu. Which covers mostly all Chinese dishes,I suppose. Even though it may get a bit confusing at times for figure the entire menu out, so yeah that’s a task and you may require a bit assistance. Apart from that the food is very good.
The ambience gives the typical Chinese restaurant look and it’s always busy at the night I’ve noticed.Even though it may get confusing reaching this place as it’s a narrow lane and OTH hardly or maybe no directions mentioned.Thirdly the service is quite alright, as at the busy hours they are unable to attend to all at times. Which should be taken into consideration.
Personal Favourite- Soup 🍜 & starters 🍗
Food⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Overall⭐️⭐️⭐️
The age old China garden still has it's charm intact. The quality of the food is consistent and never seizes to delight you every single time. the steamed chicken wontons, chicken fried rice, etc etc are a regular demand.
With great portions and a great variety, one can barely fight the urge to return.
One of the oldest Chinese restaurant in south bombay it’s always a pleasure to visit this place
A must try out here is fried corn cream
The ambiance is very good
It’s a all time favourite and the best place to have Chinese cuisine in mumbai love to visit this place when in mumbai still the same food and same sevice with authentic Chinese food served
Iconic restaurant that has reached cult status. Food has been consistently good. However, the place needs a facelift and service needs to be better. Recently it’s starting to feel like a club/ gymkhana with the laid back attitude. Nevertheless, always a good choice because of tasty Indian Chinese and affordable pricing. One of my favourite places to go to when I want my fix of “Indian Chinese”
I am a non-vegetarian. But I must appreciate the way they prepared the vegetarian food. Every dish had its own good and unique taste. The hot and sour soup and burnt garlic rice were made well. Also, don’t forget your complimentary dessert of ice-cream with honey noodles!
I was really craving for some Chinese and came across this place.
For appetizers we ordered pepper chicken which was simple chicken Pakora sprinkled with some crushed pepper and tasted quite average. The veg spring roll was nice and crunchy.
Main course: Mixed fried rice, Singapore rice noodles, garlic chicken and prawns in oyster sauce.
Full marks for the noodles and the mixed fried rice. The fragrance, taste, quantity and quality of the dish was bang on.
However the star dish was the garlic chicken which was kinda sweet and flavourful, just how I like it. Was a bit disappointed with the prawns though. The gravy turned out to be kinda bland. However a wonderful restaurant to visit for your Chinese cravings. It's slightly on the heavier side but the quantity makes up for it.
My favourite place for Indian Chinese. The manchow soup, corn curd, pepper chicken, fish in black olive starter, the tepensoba noodles and black bean sauce with vegetables/fish/chicken is amazing for Mains. The ice tea is yummy and so is the honey noodles with vanilla ice cream for desserts. Try the prawns in chilly garlic
One of the most authentic Chinese food places in Mumbai , the food by far the best Chinese i have had, the menu has a lot of options, quantity is decent, one dish or rice ordered can be consumed by 2-3 people. The service is very nice and friendly. The ambiance is very nice, a lot of wood has been used and many Chinese authentic decor items. All the dishes we ordered tasted great.
A restaurant I grew up visiting. With Mr Wang welcoming the who who’s of the town a decade or two back.
Today the charm of the food is till there. The Teppan Noddles, Honey Chicken, Sa Po the list goes on. Was there few days back. Loved the food!!!
China Garden reinvented Chinese food in India and is easily one of Bombays four most iconic Chinese restaurants with Lings, Golden Dragon and Kamling. I have never been a very big fan of their food but they have an absolutely stunning dry chilli fish in wine (or so I think its called) and a very good roast duck.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal at China Garden. The service was amazing and the food was delicious. The teppenyaki was exquisite. The beef in it was very tender. The teppensoba dish look extremely inviting on the hot sizzling plate. The honey Sesame chicken also tasted great. The soft chocolate mousse with vanilla ice cream is a must have. The big plate of vanilla ice cream with honey wonton noodles with extra honey was amazingly scrumptious. The manager Mr. Sharma really took care of some of the issues we had. Er go here quite often and I definitely recommend visiting this place.
Went to China Garden after years and it’s still exactly the same! They have maintained their consistency for years and it is the perfect comfort food! Food was good . We just had starters & Soup as we had to go out to another place . Later
Best and authentic Chinese food in Mumbai. Must try the pepper chicken and cream corn. There are many delicacy here. Often visited by celebrity and who's who of Mumbai. When I visited shewta bachan was there.
I'm giving 4 star because the crockery was an issue here. The forks theet are bend of all the fork. I request the owner to please replace the crockery as it gives a bad name to such a huge brand.
Food n service par excellence...however, the eaterie has become quite noisy nowadays..
Used to be quiet and peaceful years ago.
Great service as usual.
Food needs mo mention, we have all grown up eating here.
Vikram served us superbly and suggested perfect order quantity.
Mera fav food peper chicken and tumyum sup i just love it dry manchurian is also too good
Staff also good behavior
Best Manchow soup made here. Been coming to this restaurant last more than 25 years. They have maintained the quality and taste till date.
China Garden is a Chinese restaurant that is worth a visit. If you're new to this restaurant, I recommend starting with their corn cream and fried prawns, which are a must-try. The flavors are fantastic, and the ingredients are fresh. The corn cream has a rich and velvety texture, while the fried prawns are crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. These two dishes alone will leave you wanting more.
While the service can be a bit slow at times, it is generally satisfactory. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they will make sure that you have an enjoyable dining experience.
For the main course, China Garden offers a range of Chinese dishes that are sure to satisfy your taste buds. Some of the more popular dishes include Kung Pao Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, and General Tso's Chicken. These dishes are the quintessential Chinese cuisine and are a great representation of the restaurant's authentic Chinese flavors.
In conclusion, China Garden is an amazing Chinese restaurant that is definitely worth checking out. With their corn cream and fried prawns as must-try dishes, and a range of Chinese cuisine staples to choose from, you're sure to have a great dining experience. Just be prepared for the possibility of slow service, but it's a small price to pay for delicious food
Nice place and the food is good for non Indian. Primer is little bit expensive
Try the Fried Wontons, Corn Cream & the Pan Fried Noodles in Hunan Sauce l
