i like ur restaurant...........
They have a huge variety of idli with different flavours to choose from. The space is little though. Its a small shop and can be a little difficult to spot. The staff is prompt and good.
Best dosa place in ghatkopar . The dosa's are really crispy and good in taste. The taste of chutneys is really amazing. They have variety of options in dosa's .Dosa lovers should try this place for once.
Balaji idli house is located at Ghatkopar and have their branches situated all around Mumbai. They are really famous for their idlis and other south Indian cuisine. The restaurant is an AC restaurant and has good service as well. I would recommend everyone to especially try their different varieties in idli.

Chilli garlic idli
Best dosas ever had, that too pure Jain dosas, really appreciable ☺️❤️, looking forward for more from this place
One of the best Dosa places in ghatkoper.
Crispy at the same time soft dosas. With incredibly amazing chutneys. Was here before a meeting and indeed loved it. Also the coffee is something that you should have.
Me.Rahul (the manager) is quite helpful and hospital too. Loved the over all experience. Must try
Balaji Idli House - Cited at Ghatkopar West near RCity Mall. Compact place. Serving comfort South Indian Food. Place looks bit cozy. Bit waiting hours at usual hours.
So this location is preetyy good in South Indian food! Taste wise its damn good! Staff is also good! I took a parcel and the service was quick! They served hot and fresh food! They got a wide variety of idli range!
Food quality and food quantity was good but I am little bit disappointed with table service, I ordered here Mysore masala dosa and it's taste was good
This was online order and Packed properly as i attached the pictures. I usually don't prefer dosa to order but i tried this.
Ordered; Udipi Masala Dosa
Dosa was Big and Flavoured with Potato sabji, You can expect more in normal masala dosa. Their Sambhar was full of awesomeness.
Ordered paniyaram (appe) and it was amazing. Sambar & chutney was also delicious.
Staff was courteous & service was prompt.
Will definitely visit again.
P.S - those who have not ordered paniyaram, pls try once. M sure you won’t regret.
Idli house is one of the best place to have south Indian food..They offer very tasty food at a reasonable price.. Great place to hang out. Balaji Idli House
Good place to have south Indian cuisine... They have widespread menu with different styles of appams, idlis and dosas... I ordered a thali... It's more than sufficient for two people....
Balaji Idli house is an authentic place for south indian dishes, we ordered a cheese capsicum and onion utappam. It tastes really good loaded with cheese and good amount of capsicum and onion.
Good Quality.Looking Forward for New Dishes.
Very near to my office so i am a regular visitor here....they serve really good south indian food....masala uttapam, mysore masala, medu vada are good....upma is a must try here....one of the best south indian food in ghatkopar for sure....
Mini crispy idli with mulgoppdi poweder chutney is good option for idli or non-idli lover..it was awesome 😋😋😍
Corporate thali is okay okay...
Not satisfied with service...they r not abbl to provide cold drinking watr😣
Good chutney. But need to tell them to make it less spicy.
The platter of 4/5 idlis together thats offrred by them is recommended. also lik
A good option for ordering in for breakfast or dinner. really good quantity, decent price.
nice place to sort your hunger pangs. upma, neer dosa, idlis are noteworthy mentions here. this place is highly recommended for south indian food lovers.
Nice place on a busy street with offices nearby.
Food was great.
I felt quantity of coconut chatni was bit less.
Service was good. Serving Smoking hot dish is what I liked.
Taste was good. Idli was soft n fluffy.
Pricing is affordable.
Variety of south Indian food (Some of dishes never heard) . Also has decent north indian cuisines.
Had ordered Idli Vada Sambhar. Served with Sambhar, coconut chatni & garlic chatni.
Advance to management : Include digital wallets for payment.
Visiting again : Probably yes (If in this area)
This is a very small but authentic restaurant.
Sitting quite congested, yes but good to eat.
We ordered corporate thali.
Puri was delicious with good size and less oil. All vegies were good. Pineapple sheera was not upto the mark. Expect better and authentic taste as far as desert is considered.
Need to improve the quality of rice.
They don't have options for lemon rice or others.
Cutleries used are okay and typical south Indian style, except chass that they gave.
Over all very good one can easily come to enjoy real taste of south.
Little bit high on pockets, but worth.
Quantity very much satisfying.
No additional taxes are lieved, prices on menu card are inclusive.
Parking would be the problem, hence take care, else come by cab or Rik.

This place serves literally the BEST SOUTH INDIAN FOOD I've ever had!!!
A fusion of South Indian food with Italian, Chinese and Indian tastes, perfectly blended into each other. Every thing here is mouth watering and delicious ❤️
We tried- Chinese idli sizzler, Cheese rava dosa, Manchurian dosa, Chilli Garlic Idli out of which,
Chilli Garlic Idli- The Spicy idli's mixed with finely chopped garlic which complements each other well is a must try dish here (5/5)
Chinese Idli sizzler- Deep fried onions and capsicum when mixed with Idli, not the regular one but an idli cooked with all the chinese sauces tastes amazing when mixed together (5/5)
Cheese rava dosa- like all other rava dosa's, this was crispy and spicy at the same time! (4/5)
Manchurian dosa- Chinese manchurian balls cut into pieces and put inside a dosa, serves as an amazing dish for chinese lovers. (3.5/5)
Ambience- the ambience here is very simple and peaceful upstairs, and clean at the same time.
I love their varieties of idli n dosas. They r unique n taste is awesome. Even Jain food tastes good. Their chutney n sambar r too good. It's best
Best idli Dosas .. and der are variety in those.. but I Visited one in Mahavir Nagar Kandivali.. Can't find them on zomato.. I had cheese chilli dosa.. garlic Dosas which is a best choice to start with.. and don't miss the muttu kuttu idli.. and chilli garlic idli where the gravy is winner :)
This restaurant has some nice options in pure vegetarian food. Dominated in South Indian dishes. Here Paneer chilli dosa and chilli idli are worth a try.
This is the place where my Sunday morning breakfast comes from, like every week. Being a south Indian and staying a few metres away, it will be a crime to leave it unexplored. A nice south Indian eatery will excellent value for money menu, and surprisingly an extensive one. Their chutneys deserve a special mention and when you order for dosas/idlies, it comes with two kinds of fresh chutneys. When you're there, please try their Madras masala dosas.
Its a clean , hygenic south indian joint with some good variety of jain food.
Taste is one of the best...apart from south indian...they serve good pav bhaji...biryani and thali... seating is nice...staff is well trained
Super Authentic....Missing the main cook who got transferred to kandivali outlet to try andhra style curry with appam made with soyabean kheema.
We placed order today from balaji idli house for 8 plates of idli and 8 plates of wada the food was good. But quantity of sambar was less. We further ordered 4 plates of biryani. Food was delivered in time. Place is not that great. But food was tasty.
Great food..efficitent service. Being hardcore non vegetarian have actually started enjoying South Indian platter because of Balaji. Especially the butter idli and rava dosa..a must try

Balaji Idli House is those nice places to grab a quick bite while on a busy schedule. The ambiance too is neat and clean, the service is good and the rates are pocket friendly. I have tried out their Sandwiches, Pav Bhaji and my all time Udipi favorites, Idli Sambhar, Masala Dosa, etc. Thee food here is good but could definitely be better. I love the Chutney served with the dishes but the sambar is a bit too watery for me. Overall a great place for a quick meal.
I have ordered a lot of times from this place and it never disappoints. South Indian food is quite good. Must try are their Utappam, Neer Dosa, Appam etc, have felt all South Indian menu to be good. Is not costly as well. Good for ordering food
i visited last week..loved d food n quantity which they offer..v hve ordered idli chilli , paneer achari, neer dosa, masala chai n butter milk..my most fav was neer dosa..will surely visit soon to try their thaali..👍🏼
Balaji offers decent south Indian food. I primarily judge any south Indian food joint by it's sambhar and usually it's a clear yum or yuck. Balaji offered decent sambhar, inclined more on yum side, it wasn't too watery. Uttappam was well prepared and dosa/ idli were nice too
This place is a hidden gem in Mumbai. I've been going here since its inception since its right across my home and a savior when mom dad are out of town. I had always been a big fan of ramashrey and madras cafe but this place totally changed my mind.
If you like exploring new places and love south Indian food
They serve authentic south Indian right to your table.
Must try their mulgapodi idli, idli chilly and everything their waiters recommend. They are well trained and know exactly what they serve.
I'm always surprised by the incessant chorus of foodies that hold Matunga as the only legitimate place for South Indian cuisine.
"Ram Ashray"
"Manis Lunch Home"
"Cafe Madras"
These voices cry in unison. I appreciate there is certainly a "network" effect for restaurants. Having multiple South Indian restaurants in the same locality seems to raise standards and increase competition, which given their proximity is so visible. However truly great restaurants stand alone, confident in their fare and knowing people will travel from anywhere to find them.
It reminds me of an imaginary scene where "the World's Most Important Food" Critic sits on a throne before eager restaurateurs and waiters.
"How are we to win your custom, Your Highness"
The crowd cries with supposed answers
"Tasting menus"
"Foam"
"Molecular Gastronomy"
"Escoffier Classics"
"Delicious food, surely?"
"No" the Most Important Food Critic replies.
"Good service"
"Candles on the table"
"Finger bowls"
"Free offers"
Oh dear, they just don't get it, the Most Important Food Critic thinks.
Then a lone Restaurateur crowd shouts out:
"I am not to win your custom, I am the Prize and you must find me"
There is silence amongst his peers, who hold their breath.
The Most Important Food Critic pauses for a moment and then smiles with such gleeful radiance.
"Yes he is the one" he exclaims.
Balaji house is not in this great category of restaurants yet but it is a wothwhile and unique experience in Ghatkopar West which is not known for South Indian food. The restaurant is quiet even on a Sunday when I pitch up with fellow comrades. It's a no thrills place located at the bottom of LBS Marg but the food for the most part is commendable.
Idli in Masala Dahi is a great warm-up. The tart curd sauce envelops the courser soft idli in a truly moreish dish.
The Mysore Masala Dosa comes steaming hot (finally someone who understands that luke warm food is nearly as bad as someone with a limp handshake!) They have stuffed the dosa to the brim with soft potato and spicy red paste. The grated coconut is a nice flourish on top. My dining partner barely manages to finish a quarter of hers, which gives an indication of how generous the portion is.
The vegetable and appam main course speaks more to North Indian cuisine, although the faintest hint of coconut milk is a helpful reminder of the South. The appam is satisfactory although has to be peeled like wallpaper from the banana leaf it is served on. The sweet lassi on the side is a touch too sour.
These couple of niggles aside, Balaji stands out from the crowd in Ghatkopar West for fast, casual South Indian food.

Perfect south indian hotel, lovely food, properly cooked And presented, idli chilly sizzler is best among all worth a try , thali is very filling, bhaji dosa and idlis are perfectly cooked very soft.
Good food, good price and quick service! Tried the idli platter and it was amazing. They serve the tastiest sambhar I've ever had in Mumbai. Been here a couple of times, never bored and never disappointed. Oh and I cannot forget to mention, the staff is very friendly and welcoming.
Amaaaazing idlis. Soft and buttery. We called for neer dosa and korma. I am not a fan of neer dosa. But the korma was out of the world. The chutney is nice and thick. I have only ordered food. Never been to the place.
We had been to this place not for breakfast or snacks, but for lunch! And the place doesn't fail you even if there is only one type of dish. We ordered a kanjivaram idli to find that it comes with only one piece, albeit slightly large at that. The place gives a generous amount of white coconut chutney with every...
This place is a must visit if you are craving for authentic south dishes. Located just ahead of R city mall on the opposite road, it is easy to spot. Being compact in size, the tables are arranged very well. We ordered lemon rice, Andhra idli and Ghee podi roast dosa. The dishes were good and tasted yummy! One could feel the authenticity of the dishes. Staff were very generous and friendly in helping us with our order. This place is a must visit atleast once just to experience their authentic south dishes.
It's a small place with limited seating. However, it surprises you with great food. Though a bit on the expensive side, but it's worth it. My all time favourites are Masala Paniyaram, Kerela Mallipuram with Appam. The filter coffee is good too. Staff is friendly. Good for takeaway as well, very nicely packed.
Another instance was when we ordered a Vegetable Butter Uttapam, was not fresh n tasted bad. They were courteous enough to give us a separate item n gave us balance refund.
Love this place. Don't know why is rated so low. It has a great selection of idlis and dosas and good portion sizes. Yes for those wanting their idlis high on lentils this one is on rice. Good quality food and great service. Try their humongous cheese garlic paper roast, madras fried idlis ,idlis in curd based gravy and more. Rasam is worth a try however it is a little away from the classic.
Have been there multiple times and this place is really great for south indian food. Service is really fast and staff is courteos. Their masala chai and filter coffee is also great.
I've been to this place's ghatkopar East Branch n have been it's fan for years especially for sri Lankan idli.
I knew about the new outlet in ghatkopar West n gave my first visit very recently. The place has got a facelift from its ghatkopar East counterpart with AC n better seating & space.
As it was lunch time I gave a try to there corporate thali that's available only between 12-4:00 PM. To my surprise I was given so much of food that I'd never expect for thali priced for RS. 120.
Also the food tasted really well. I'll surely give this place another visit when needed. Service is where I think they can improve upon, waiters here have a lax behavior..
Have been here many times and the south Indian food is delicious.
The review for service is a mixed one as sometimes it is great but sometimes you wish you had opted for some other place instead!
Small cozy place and has got a nice look. The place will be different for the people who don't eat much of south Indian food as it has a lot of variety. For instance, we ordered for pav bhaji dosa, paneer chatpata dosa then powdered mini crispy idli, etc and the food was new for me and it actually tasted really good, though it was only bhaji in a dosa but it still tasted good as had a south Indian touch to it. The dish that stood out was the mysore idli dish (sorry can't remember the actual name), the idli was cooked in mysore masala and it tasted best out of all the other ones. The place is worth visiting and reasonable. Place recommended. Enjoy. Cheers 😀😎😉
I m not a regular eater in this place but once I had ordered Bangalore style idli chilly... tangy n equally spicy. I also sipped dry fruit sweet lassi to satisfy my sweet tooth😋😋 .....
I have been to this place regularly simce it's adjoining to my work place. It's bang on the l.b.s. Marg ahead of shreyas cinema. It's a plain simple vanilla restaurant, a typical south indian attribute they carry- simple on ouside, quality on inside. The place has ground and a mezzanine and a seating capacity of approx 30-40 ppl, with each table at max seating 3 pax. So if ur a big crowd, u can avoid this place or be prepared to sit separately. The Ambience is simple - yellow light, clean nothing special there.
The staff is courteous and are quick to take the order. The menu is really good, spread over varieties of idlis, disaster, uttapams and vegetables and rice.
I decided to stick to my fav onion rava sada with less oil and chass ( buttermilk)to beat the Mumbai heat. The Chass was served in a jiffy while the dosa took like 7 mins. The dosa was good in size sufficient for 1 person and is served with 2 type chutney - coconut and garlic. The dosa was in minimal oil yet crispy. The best thing is the sambhar was piping hot..and with the chutneys they have an unlimited serving. The second serving of chutney was a bit dissappointing as it was served cold straight of the freezer which was a let down. The butter milk was average, nothing special to mention. All in a good sumptuous meal and at Rs. 130/-
Food - 4/5 ( For the dosa)
Portion - 4/5
Service - 4/5
Ambience - 3/5
Service - 5/5
Recommended - If you have 20 mins and want to grab a tummy full meal this is the place to be, and try the less oil onion rava dosa and you won't regret it and the sambhar is delicious to accompany.
Its a small 4 table eatery.... nice ambience...people who like south indian cuisine would like this place....however if you only prefer eating mendu wada and dosa then this isnt the place for you...
After watching an early morning show, we decided to have breakfast and saw this outlet on the way... Should confess that the name attracts... Balaji "Idli House".
It's a small neat outlet.
They have a wide variety of south indian delights.
We ordered a "Iyer" Masala Dosa, thinking that it would be something unique, but it was actually a Ghee masala dosa... Nothing more. But was nice n Crispy and the potato bhaaji was also tasty. The steam idli which my wife ordered was also quite good and so was the cheese sada dosa which we ordered for my kid. Also the Sambhar and two types of chutneys were excellent. The Tea was also good, typical south India types...
Though little overpriced, the food quality is quite good.
Meal for two would be around 300-400
Authentic south Indian food and the service is great ! the quantity is also fulfilling.
Toothsome filter coffee.
The place will definitely satiate your hunger for south food.
Awesome place to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. Their idlis are awesome and tasty. Don't forget to try the andhra style idli chilli, madras fried idli and butter garlic idli. The tea here is also really nice and goes well with idlis. Ambience is OK but it won't matter because the food is very good. If you are in a mood for Chinese, don't forget to try chilli garlic idli sizzler.
Overall, an awesome place to have a getaway from your daily boring meal. Really affordable too.
There are too many pseudo places masquerading as South Indian restaurants in Mumbai. This isn't one of those. Go here if you want to try some real flavours from the south.
The tragedy of modern Indian tastes is that there are high chances the people on the next table will ask for cheese pav bhaji. And sadly, even places like Balaji have to offer cheese pav bhaji to survive. Although, given their pricing, which is on the steeper side, they struggle for occupancy, especially given that there are much cheaper places nearby.
You are not compromising on quality here though. Try the chettinad and mallipuram curries. Try the appams. Try the rice puttu - steamed balls.
Don't expect great service. You will still want to come back, for just the food.
A huge variety of idlis and dosas is what is the speciality of this place.
Ambience is decent and is A two storey outlets. Both Air conditioned. The staff is helpful and police and systematic. Rates are reasonable and has great variety for South Indian dishes. They serve punjabi dishes as well but I haven't tasted it yet. The only reason I have not given it a 5 star is the service is a little slow. They take lot of time to serve the food once you have order.
I suggest to give it a try. 🖐
One word review : Awesome .
Great place , literally it will make you think " I never thought idli can be that interesting "
& The taste is also awesome
Superb in every aspect , the prices are a bit high but the quality and taste compensates the pinch in pocket 😍
Balaji Idli house is famous for its variety of idlis in South Indian Style (from Kanchipuram to Udipi) and also Idlis with Chinese and Punjabi twist. You can also get other south Indian food like dosas nd medu wadas and uttappas in a large variety of preparations.
Good Cook & they are pioneers in South Indian Cousins
Nice & tasty food....all idli items are just wow
They have variety of food items . I ordered cheese pakoda which is exactly expectations vs reality. I expect some juicy cheese pakoda but they just fry solid cheese cubes with besan batter and serve it and also a pavbhaji is not that good but it's okok type. But veg crispy and cheese sandwich balances my mood. Cleanliness and ambience is quite good and their service is also remarkable. They have AC option too. It's cost basically 200-300 0er person.
I have tried Idli, sambar vada and upma. Must say the upma is really good. It is served with Sambar and Coconut chutney. Idli is nice but I have tried better idli than this. Sambar Vada is not oily. Overall it’s a good place for South Indian food specially if you’re looking option for breakfast
Taste of the food is good, apart from the tasty Dosa's the typical south Indian item like appam and kurma were also very good.
There is unlimited pouring of chutneys and sambhar.
Price is also reasonable.
Space is a bit congested for bigger groups.
Awesome idli is serverd here.
Price is little bit high but the taste and quality is maintained well.
Multi varaties of South Indian dish is served.
superb food so many varities of idili and also dosa. it's fresh and tasty. very nice ambience clean. I prefer to eat here after I visit Rcity mall as it is very close to the mall. instead of waiting for a seat in the mall and spending so much money. I eat in 1/3 of the amount in Balaji idili house plus it's more tasty then any one from the food court.
