Reviews Choki Dhani At Mumbai

The place is amazingly well decorated and creates an amazing Rajasthani experience for those who have not visited the real place. Location is just right distance from the city, they have adequate parking space which is heartening to see.

They have Camels, horses, gymnast, folk dancers, puppet shows, pottery, astrologers, kulfi wala, pan wala, mehendi artist, tattoo, ethnic and Rajasthani art work and souvenir shops... you think of it and they have it there... wide variety under the sun to create that classic Rajasthani village thar experience... I visited the place at night, it is well lit and gives an village ambience with lanterns, fire torches and old yellow bulbs, staff is friendly and warm although the front desk / reception staff could atleast show more warmth and provide welcome feel rather than being cold and typical marwadi (business oriented, no offence intended) A little bit of smile will not decrease the profit ☺️

I would give a 8 out of 10 for the sheer ambience to this place, like all of its franchisees it lives upto the mark. The drawback or improvement opportunity i suggest is in the taste of food, for people who go there to taste classic Rajasthani / Marwadi food would disappoint their taste buds.

They need to improve the quality and taste of food served at this place, an additionly maintaining hygiene would be a feather in cap. Also the cost I feel is on the higher side for commoners, I would still be happy to pay that amount if the food taste would have triggered the satiety centre in my brain.

Overall an good experience, a good place to go with family and friends, if you can afford get together, functions etc can be very well organised at this place.

We visited Chokhi Dhani the day after Diwali. Contrary to my expectation of rush at the place, it was fairly OK. Being such a large venue, it's very accommodating for even a large crowd. It's quite accessible and very close to people staying near Thane. Card holders to be cautious as they don't accept any card and Charges (600) are substantial so plan some cash along. Venue is pretty attractive with a rustic touch. Very well reminds of Rajasthan's culture. Quiet a number of events to get entertained. Public shows are non-chargeable but some other activities are charged a small amount. Food range and quality is OK. Taste is relatively better than other general Rajasthan food places in Mumbai but comparison with authentic Rajasthan food will be little high on expectations. Overall, a good place to spend a quality time with family. 2-3 hours can be easily spent at the place.

Must visit for all the Rajasthani Folks.. It's gives you a proper feel of a village.. With beautifully built interiors and various cultural activities and performances to keep you engrossed.. And the hospitality is like a cherry on the cake..the food is typical rajasthani cuisine.. And satisfying in both quality as well as quantity.. Great place to spend an evening :)

There are several things to give a review about... Located alongside the highway, it a very well setup Rajasthan village which gives a traditional village feel to it (lanterns, swagat tika, pagdi). A very big campus with many timepass things to do...bullock, camel ride, pottery, astrologer, puppet dance, folk dance, giant wheel etc. Ambience is very relaxing. Now comes to the main thing- Food. It is a traditional rajasthani main course which can be enjoyed to the fullest by North Indians or those with big bellies and foodies. Other people will not like the food to that extent. So just opt for this place to enjoy the ambience.

PS- A suggestion to the place owners-
Please arrange for a cycle cart for a tour of entire campus. Most of the people end up enjoying whichever is the closest from the entrance and don't explore fully
Cheers.

First of all, if you are going to this place then make sure you have an ample amount of free time with you.
Along with food you have magic shows, rajasthani dance (with some stunts with fire), camel ride etc.
There are few rajasthani starters to begin with like samosa chaat, some masala puri etc since the dishes keep changing everyday.
At the other end you have paratha chutney prepared on a sigri. It Tastes really different to what we are used to eating when prepared on a normal pan.
The main course is really very rich with many types of sabzi roti and dal rice and lastly sweet dishes.
The people serving food are awesome and always serve with a smile.

A different experience which not seen anywhere else in this area. Had a great time of viewing Rajasthani Culture this Diwali.

Dinner Food is decent with a lot of varieties a typical Rajasthani Cusine and look and feel of Rajasthan as far as sitting place goes.

Evening snacks menu was a letdown. Not much to offer there and also it was open so hygiene should have been maintained.

Also, the timing was 5-11, but I feel 4 hrs is decent as after 4 hrs you would get bored.

One of the nice rajhastani concept on the outskirts ... A bit of a drive...but definately worth a visit once...overall it ws a good expirence....although I feel they should provide some kind of shade provision specially during rains...There are some activities like puppet show camel ride, magic show all this is good if u hav kids wid u. Food was very average not that gr8...bajre ki roti was one of the nicest dish i had..also after the food ws expecting some kind of kulfi or pan, I guess they need to add something to end the main course. Overall worth a visit.

Another of the places where 3.1 i guess is unjustified.
A huge place located on the outskirts in Kalyan about an hour + of drive from my place. On a rainy Saturday, we decided to give this gigantic place a shot. To begin with the road to get to this place is a little rocky, primarily due to the out going rains. But once you there, you in a different world. Huge gates loads of area and a lot of activities a total rare for people from Mumbai. This place can surely keep you engrossed for a couple of hours before you realize that you are here for food and not the astrology sessions. :-p.

Now onto the food:
As soon as you enter there is a counter serving you Jaljeera and water - the Jaljeera is refreshing after a long drive. Walk in for another 200 mtrs and the 1st set of starters greets you; Kachori Curry and Moong Salad accompanied with Tea. On a rainy day, what better combination than Hot Kachoris and Chai. Absolutely loved the environment to have these starters.
About 300 mtrs ahead is another gem of a counter; Bajra roti served with butter, garlic chutney and Jaggery. This dish surely sinful but was brilliant. Ladies making the Bajra roties fresh and lading them with butter again with rain pouring - Priceless.
Main Course: Now here was a little disappointment. The food here is just about okay, nothing great. The menu was decent - Dal Baati Choorma, Kadhi, Paneer Mattar, Gatte Ki sabzi, Aaloo ke sabzi with fresh rotis. Except for the Gattee ki sabzi and Choorma, everything was just about fine. The gatta was very well done up and spiced to perfection. With fresh warm rotis this was a winner of a dish.

All in all an awesome experience, worth the fuel burnt. At Rs. 600/- pp, a tad expensive keeping in mind the fuel spent to get here and the fact that the food was just about passable.

P.S: They have activities like Hair Beading, Mehendi, Rajasthani Folk dance and music, Magic show, Puppet Show, Astrology, Head Massage, Camel and horse riding and a fun fair in the premises.

This a place away for mumbai to relax, spend around half a day, enjoy the village life experience which is different from normal life of mumbai. The restaurant has big area there are different sections where you can eat food, such as fast food, sweet dish, main course, juices rotis. There are areas where you can see different sort of dance, magic shows, Puppet show etc. The place is very photogenic. It is suitable for large group. The food is free and unlimited, you just have to pay the entry fee. It is not at all expensive. They have tried to make replica of Chokhi Dhani of Jaipur but I must say Jaipur's Chokhi Dhani is best. Nevertheless this also as per as far as Mumbai is concerned.

1) Ambiance: Now this place is more than just the ambiance, it is a phenomenon all by itself. I wish the location was a little more convenient, but if you need a peaceful, yet interesting day out-away from "Mumbai-madness", this could be one of those places. The entire set up gives you the Rajasthani feel but they still need to work a lot to make this one as good as the one in Jaipur (I had been there a few years ago). However, their attempts at keeping their traditions alive and earning their bread is definitely worth a visit. Go on a weekend around 7:30-8pm, That is when it is all lit up and the crowd gathers in larger numbers.

2) Food: As you enter, you will have welcome drinks waiting for you. We had JALJEERA and they had added little sweetness to the drink which I liked (I had 7 glasses of it :P ). As you go around watching the different folk dances and puppet shows, they have their snacks counter where they serve 2 starters. We had SPROUTS CHAT which was a perfect balance of sour & sweetness and KACHORI-KADHI in which the kadhi needed seasoning and tadka. The kachori however, was crunchy outside and tasty by itself. After another 1 and half hours of rides we came across a section that was preparing hot BAJRE KI ROTI served with ghee, garlic chutney and gur. We were 8 of us and all of us gorged on it! Filling, fresh, delicious and piping hot- that was one of the highlights of our visit there. We watched a few more dances followed by window shopping. Then we finally sat down for dinner at their dining hall. Traditional ways were really picturesque but I really hope they do add leaf plates instead of paper plates to add to their authenticity. They had GATTE KI SABZI (I've had better) which was more sour than normal, KADHI which needed seasoning & tadka, BANARASI AALOO which was made really well and MATAR PANEER which too had the right mix of spices in it. DAL& BAATI were delicious. CHOORMA too was good but a Rajasthani friend suggested that they should prepare it using jaggery instead of sugar. Their HALWA was sinful, yet tasty with coconut and jaggery. BAJRE KI KHICHDI too was different but I am yet to develop a taste for it. CHAAS was smashing!

3) Service: Early evening might seem slow but as the time progresses, their service tends to match up the demand. Dhol plays at different spots (we made one our own dancing floor) and thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

4) VFM (4/5): So an unlimited veg dinner + 2 snacks + hot hot bajre ki delicious rotis+ tea+ 4 types of different Rajasthani folk dances+ astrology + puppet show + make your own dance floor +make your own pot (pottery section) = Rs.600/- The camel rides and all come for a minimal cost of Rs.20/- to Rs.40/- I am pretty sure we won't get that anywhere else in Mumbai! However, if you do not have an open palate for different varieties of food or veg food, they you should try some other place. Also, if you need loud music and need adventure, this place may not be upto your expectations. However, I personally feel that it is a steal and ideal for a family outing.

A complete family destination! The village atmosphere with lively entertainment and spacious property all together make this a great way to spend the weekend. Food is a basic authentic rural palette served in typical desi style (sitting down with low tables in front on which one places the aluminium utensils to eat from). Having been to the Chokhi Dhani at Jaipur, we were not expecting much from the Kalyan counterpart.
We were pleasantly surprised with the hospitality and the food served.
PROS
1. Takes you back to the village with a completely Traditional setup and feeling
2. Good quality Veg food (unlimited)
3. Light on the pockets (₹500pp)
4. Excellent hospitality & customer friendly staff
5. Highlights being - Camel ride, Oil head massage, magic show, traditional music, puppet show and the Astrologer(must go)
6. The last one deserves a special mention, It's Amma ji's Makke-di-roti served with ghee, red chutney and jaggery. Missing this would be like going to Agra and not seeing Taj Mahal.
CONS-
1. Proximity from the city, difficult to reach from Kalyan if you don't have a vehicle, auto drivers are hesitant to go because of the traffic
2. Very small in comparison to the one at Jaipur(no complains though)
3. Camel rides are blink and miss
4. Most of the shops inside are closed

Overall it's a great family get away. Definitely recommended for all the vegetarians and the non-vegetarians too.

A little Rajasthan, a few hours drive from Mumbai. Chokhi Dhani has an incredible ambience. If you can't travel to Rajasthan, you can experience it here. And if you have kids with you, then undoubtedly it is one of the few options for a fun-filled evening. Travelling to Kalyan, could cost a lot for some in Mumbai. But since they have a package deal for 500 bucks, it's value for money. You'll have to pay for some peripherals, but that's not expensive either. The last, but obviously not the least. Food is typically Rajasthani, yum & full of ghee. Bajre ki roti (part of snacks, not the main course) is an experience you won't want to miss. To wrap up, I would say it's a good destination if you have an entire evening free.
