Modern Lunch Home in Parel offers scrumptious Goan and Mangalorian food. I had been to this place couple of times. One of their most delicious and lip smacking dishes are their thalis such as veg thali, chicken thali, mutton thali and other sea food thalis.
Being a sea food lover, I ordered pomfret thali that had 3 chapatis, 1 pomfret fry, 1 vegetable sabji, rice, fish gravy and pickle. Chapati were soft, large filling size and well baked, Pomfret was cooked perfectly leaving a yummy taste of Indian masalas. The fish gravy was made with the kind of taste I like with coconut and red masala, not spicy at all. It could have been better.
Overall a good experience, do visit them and enjoy some Goan and Mangalorian cuisine.

Visited this joint on 24th Nov. this could be every three months we go there with 2 persons. Every time we go there there is no rush, no waiting for ones turn. Good parking space. Just next to Wadia hospital with good food, good service and normal ambiance. We tries Prawns Masala fry. Prawns Biryani, Kokam Kadi and in sweet dish caramel custard. One can try any of their fish items which we like going there many times.

A multi cuisine restaurant that serves a good variety of food at really reasonable prices!! But the speciality of this place is the fish Thali that they offer. Which more or less may remind you of lunch in Goa!! They have good options when it comes to the fish of your choice.. Fish being an expensive food item yet this place offers you good quantity and quality food at reasonable prices. Plus this place offers AC and non AC options as per your comfort.

Decór and ambiénce are standard affair. We went to AC section. It's actually a small place. Very easy to miss. The AC section feels a little congested with ceiling very low but they have buffered the ceiling with cushions at places. AC cooling is fine. Overall an OK place for a group or family lunch/dinner.
Food: 4 Stars
Veg Manchow Soup: Standard affair. Not very thick yet tasty and kinda spicy.
Chicken reshmi kabab: Very soft and succulent kababs. Balanced flavour. If you like spicy, you could have it with the chutney they provide.
Butter chicken: Tasty and nicely cooked chicken pieces. You could have it with Chapatis/Rotis/Naan or Rice and it tastes excellent.
Cost: 5 Stars
Cost is pretty reasonable. Go for it.

I have been to this place a couple of times. Though the place is small, the crowd is good and staff is courteous which makes up for it! The service is quick and you won't be pissed off until your food arrives. I always have prawns fry and Pomfret thali which are super-yum. Their Solkadhi is just mouth watering. You get to eat delicious food at reasonable rates at Modern Lunch Home.

This is the Lower Parel cousin of the Sion MLHome. It's a small place, you could easily walk across the hotel and never notice it. It's not so radically mangalorean like the Sion Outlet. The place has a non-AC and AC seating. It's cramped for place, no surprise since its located in Parel. Apart from the mangalorean cuisine,they offer a lot of other stuff like biryani, chainees dishes. The seafood dishes are good, but the taste is no way near to the taste at Sion MLH. I had ordered for a Surmai Thali and a Prawns Fry. The fish was ok, nothing sparkling or exciting. It was a shocker to hear that they did not have boiled rice ( typical black and white rice eaten in mangalore), maybe I went in with the wrong expectations. Overall a good place to have a good "petbharke" lunch or dinner. The Anna at the counter was smiling and helpful.

Our Savior in a land of vegetarian restaurants was Modern Lunch Home. It is a fairly decent restaurant located near Wadia Hospital, Parel and is a boon to non-vegetarian lovers around there! The main course is decent, but I loved their Chicken starters. Priced a little higher than your expectation, but not disappointing in terms of taste.

If you love seafood, especially Manglorean style or Malwani style, then this is the place to be. The seafood is fresh and authentic. Prepared with proper coconut gravy in a true mangalore style.

I'd been with a few office colleagues during lunch hour. The place was quite crowded as it is a favorite among office-goers from the nearby areas. But the service was super quick.
We ordered for a TISRYA THALI, a BOMBIL THALI and a Chicken Thali. We asked for Neer Dosa in the Thali, there is an option between that or Wada or Chapati.
The Neer Dosa was super fluffy and light. It went wonderfully with all gravies. The BOMBIL was nice and crispy on the outside and soft and succulent inside. The chicken gravy wasn't too spicy, but it wasn't as great as the seafood Thali gravies.
The Thali also comes with an extra seafood gravy, a vegetable and the most delicious Sol Kadhi.
The Sol Kadhi was too good and we ended up ordering more.
The bill came to 780 bucks which was really cool for the awesome fresh fish dishes that we had. All in all its very much Value for Money.
Definitely going again.
TIP - If you're taller than 5"5, do not go upstairs. Remember this is a seafood specialty restaurant, that's the best thing to order here.

It's a small place.. Would definitely not recommend tall people to go upstairs, the roof is like really low.. Other than that the food is just awesome.. Just love the sweet corn chicken soup, the chicken chilli, the chicken lollipop and the triple schezwan rice.. The downside is that there are no sweet dishes so you would have to go to naturals in order to get an ice cream after a yummy lunch or dinner..
Prawn gassi,chicken liver fry,mutton biriyani and Surmai fry - highly recommended.Situated very close to KEM hospital this place has served as a haven for many residents who enjoy food with friends,rather than hospital mayhem.The bhakris and chicken curry are good too,in case you are in no mood to eat rice.Now this is is not a fine dining restaurant but just a homely place.That being said they could fudge the food occasionally the same way to could happen at home.The seafood is better than the over rated Mahesh lunch home,if Mangalorean cuisine goes head to head.Sad they don't serve Akki otti here but they make up with other konkan - Mangalorean food.Solkadi used to be refreshing.If you are in Parel for a while and you are likely to develop a craving for seafood then there are just a few options - Canara, Millennium, rane's takeaway,Tirupti & Modern.So totally worth trying.

A great place serving the basic cuisine of mangalore...neer dosa, spl chicken masala, chicken sukka, fish masala, prawn curry...nothing fancy, very authentic, good value for money meals.
Even their biryani's are south indian styled served with a spicy gravy on the side.
Ambience is quite average, even congested for some, i'd prefer the home delivery option.
Also this might as well be the only place in parel that serves a

Serves good food, especially the non veg dishes. The ambience is nothing special and the place is pretty congested. The AC section is really cramped and gets very noisy. You're better off ordering food from here instead. The rates are pretty standard and the food is worth it.
As a student in a nearby college, one of my favourite joints for butter chicken and butter garlic naan! To die for. Every poultry dish I have eaten here is out of the world. I advise you to stay away from the sea food though. Has a peculiar smell. Must go tho !

Its very easy to find, nearest local , probably from Lower Parel or Elphinstone.
it is located right next to Wadia Children hospital.Its a favorite of the local blue collars( apparent from the clientielle jampacking the place at noon). If you cant seem to locate it , do call the manager, he'll give you a total inventory of the streetposts youd have to cross in order to find it.
We ordered
-Mutton masala fry in a dry gravy
- Reddish Prawns (Konkan style)
-Pomfret rawas thali
-Roti and plain rice.
We loved the pink rawa and mustard sauce served with the fish. it is an awesome delight to actually come across good seafood in the most inconspicuous of places.
The service was super fast. we got served in 6 minutes of ordering.
Total cost of the spread was less than 600/-..go figure.
The space is a little congested, the ambience is no Taj, But somebody really ought to give his place a >4 pointer.
