We had heard of this place since a long time and had received mixed reviews from the people who've tried food here. We wanted to experience the food once here and came for lunch. We were completely blown away by the quality! We tried the chicken thali and it was super tasty. Highly recommended to all !
I visited this place for the first time with 4 friends. We tried their Mughlai dishes. The food was amazing. The chapatis are made in front of you and are super fresh. The restaurant was full and the waiters were busy attending to the people. We had the owner of the shop attending to us which speaks volumes of the service here. We also tried chicken fried rice and chicken chilly gravy. It was simply lip smacking! We also witnessed lots of online orders. We wish them all the best for the years to come. Hats off to this place.
Light of Persia located on Peddar road is one of the best Irani restaurants in the city. The owners are very polite and sweet and ensure the service is prompt. The Mughlai dishes are well cooked and tasty. One must try this restaurant for the taste and service.

I feel I’ve found a hidden gem in form of this place. Just the other day I ordered keema fry, chicken mughlai and it was blessing in disguise. The keema fry was nicely cooked, had a balance of flavours with nice blend of peas with it. The only think they can better is the colour. If only it has that brownish colour, which you can achieve by cooking it for a bit longer, it would just elevate the dish. Chicken Mughlai was equally good. Flavours, colour, fragrance, aroma, amount of chicken, tenderness of the meat etc., was right in point. I’m going to order more from here in the future.
I ordered vegetarian food on line twice. Good in taste with hope that they must have take proper care to keep it vegetarian. Timely delivered. BUT ZOMATO IS CHARGING MORE THAN MENU AVAILABLE AT THE SHOP. DELIVERY CHARGES ARE ALSO HIGHER.

This place is a perfect example of how the tradition of Iran and its cuisine can be served to your plate without a pinch on your pocket. The chicken cheese roll will just take your heart away. The meat is soft and the spices are a perfect blend to tickle your taste buds. A must place to go, also the authentic Irani chai is something they dominate on and something they are rightly proud to serve. A typical irani restaurant but stands out due to its crisp cleanliness, good hygiene and reasonably priced food.

Good restaurant, moderate rate and quality food. Ambience is not so good. Opens at morning 6 AM, very good option for breakfast which includes ban Maska pav and kheema paav. Even sandwiches are available. Both veg n non-vegetarian Thali available. Other main course dishes are also delicious. But not authenticated Iranian cuisine. Parcel facility is available. As it's on main Pedder Road, parking is not available.
Perfect combination of kheema pav, bun muska and iranian chai. Should definitely try the caramel custard too. The grill sandwhich and puff were amazing too ! Prefect portions with the authentic iranian cafe taste along with being budget friendly is the ideal stopover for anyone with taste ! One surely leaves this place full and smiling :)

Amazing place. Food is really good and reasonably priced. Lassi, Hakka Noodles, and Chicken Lollipops are amazing. Do visit the place along with your family and friends.
It's just a regular shop for having lunch and dinner. It's not mandatory to have innovative restaurant all around. Places like this saves you from cooking at home or carrying a lunch box because this place makes Totally home made food.
So while I was working I tried out their chicken masala and chapati. The chicken masala was totally like the home style chicken , so I liked it and the chapatis were thin and large.
So for regular meals do hop into this place.

The place is the right place for some awesome finger licking paratha and chicken masala. It’s always crowded but the food is worth the wait.

I absolutely love their chicken roll. It's really good. The chicken is well cooked and its not oily and the roti also is fresh. It's amazing.
The other food - dal, rice, vegetable stuff; I would not recommend. Its definitely cheap and quantity is pretty good too. It is however literally floating in oil. So much so, that I can tip the box over and pour it out.
Service is great and the sandwiches and all are pretty good :)
Very first thing is the tea over there, which really fab and refreshing that to with bunn Maska and next the food is really very tasty. Best non- vegetarian food u’ll find over here. Mangers over here are like family and friendly to all. The service over there is pretty good. Best Irani tea make my day and everyone else over there who have it. I would like to say this hotel should get 11/10 stars cause of the nature of every single person who work there and own that place. God Bless this hotel. ❤️😉✌🏻
An old-school restaurant on Peddar Road serving pocket friendly meals which assures you an experience like no other.
Their Irani chai is a must have (throw in a bun Maska for that added touch).
Dishes which I would recommend would include the following:
- Double Chicken Cheese roll
- Chicken Cheese Grilled Sandwich
- Chicken Fried Rice
- Chicken Chilli Dry
- Caramel Custard
For Vegetarians the veg version of the above should fit the bill.
This is a place which is open all day- from the time joggers head out for their morning run all the way till it's time to party in the night.

This place is a saving grace for people who crave for quality food at reasonable prices in Pedder Road. Authentic Iranian cafe providing chai, bun muska, varieties of egg preparations is only the start of it. Their Keema and Keema ghotala are a must try. The family running the joint are friendly, jovial and prompt with their services. The have excellent options in vegetarian too. I like their paneer kourma. All in all a great place to eliminate hunger with food that hits the spot without burning a hole in your pocket.

I have been visiting light of persia since 10 years now and it has always served me best. The lovely iranian owners make you feel like you are a part of their family every single time you order. The food is outstanding besides the expensive market today this restaurant has always been way more affordable than any other restaurant in the city. One cannot have better quality food at such affordable rates anywhere in bombay. The ambience is to die for listening to the hustle and bustle at pedder road at the same time bringing calm everytime you sit there. The butter chicken has been my personal favorite since years and im sure with such owners and quality control it will continue doing best. Its great to be a part of the Light of Persia family and i strongly recommend everyone to come have an amazing dining experience and find out that you also are a part of light of persia. I have grown up with Light of Persia, an Iranian style Cafe in the neighborhood since the 90s, so we are talking about a 20+ relationship for me with its wonderful owners a father and his 4 sons. Open since Never been let down by the friendly service or the food i get regularly! All the various Fried Rices (huge portions) for the price, the World famous chicken lollipops as well the egg/chicken rolls to the tea and Brun/ Bun maska! Don't forget to try the egg burji or the glorious kheema gotala (only in the mornings) as well! The prices are extremely competitive and a true value for money! Love this place, as it meets my needs, Light of Persia is always there for me when i need it! The place is open early in the morning by 6am and stays open till late 12am and they home deliver, so call and check! You can also try their grill sandwiches which are quite nice..

More than at least a 100 yrs old. This iconic irani joint is the best place u could grab a quick bite at pedder road. There irani chai is the most talked about, chicken afghani , butter chicken being their top moghlai dishes. Chinese food like chicken chilli and chicken crispi are also tasty. Other good stuff on the menue like chicken lollipops, chicken roll , kheema fry , Kheema ghotala are mouth watering value for money dishes.
In sweets caramel custard is another awesome treat one must have post a sumptuous meal at this iconic cafe on pedder road. Highly recommended!!

This is a quintessential hole-in-the-wall eatery which you will easily miss. The ambience is non existent, hygiene questionable. But the food is great at amazing rates. The menu card surprised me with rates reminiscient more of 90s. Moreso coz it is located at Peddar road; poshest locality in Mumbai.
We ordered Keema fry with Pav. It was delicious. Bangda Masala priced at just Rs.65/- was a steal.
Chickn crispy was good but Chkn Hungama could have been better. Esp. the quantity.

Great place, great food, comfortable Irani style ambience, the kheema pav is a must try and keeping the Irani theme in mind the bun maska and paani kum is definitely great. The staff is really prompt and the restaurant is owned and run by family members always present at the counter, jovial and friendly owners, you can enjoy a conversation with them while sipping a nice cup of tea. I would definitely recommend this place for a quick bite whenever passing peddar road.

This non-descript place is right at the center of the always busy Pedder Road. Its difficult to classify it as an eatery or as a cafe or a shop, because the place looks like all the three. Its an old Parsi establishment, delighting residents around Pedder Road with its fantabulous food at really cheap prices. Though there is a small seating area, takeaway is recommended.
The portions here are huge, and everything here is pretty much worth having. The highlight of the place, are the numerous Hookah flavors available. If you live at, around Breach Candy, a visit to this mecca is a must.

Considering the location of this restaurant, its comparatively very cheap. This restaurant is like a canteen for my friend and me. Whenever we go to culture centre of Russia for some programs/classes we definetly go to this restaurant. First of all this is a Parsi restaurant. So you can expect some tasty parsi cuisine here. Coming to the ambience of this restaurant its not very typical parsi types. Normal yet not that appealing. But I dont really care about the ambience here. Main thing is what I like about this place is of course food. We always order Double Omlet Pav and Chicken Biryani, sometimes LOP special biryani also. Service is Rapid. Food is very tasty. We also ordered Khima Pav and Egg Biryani. Every dishes here are awesomely tasty. If you are at peddar road and you are looking for something affordable in such expensive area, then this is the place you should really look for. Menu card will take you back to the past where the prices of the dishes were affordable as they used to be. Overall going to this place is always a pleasure for me.. :)

Tucked away in the middle of peddar road (yes the pun is intended) is Light of Persia a restaurant which ALL South Bombayites and almost anybody who has visited South Bombay in the last 70 years would have passed bye.
Yet despite this fact few would have ever stopped at this little eatery-cum store of a bygone era.
Although the very friendly and helpful owner is Irani (not a parsi) and despite the name it would be incorrect to compare it the Typical Iranis like kayani, merwan etc. the restaurant-cum-store licence notwithstanding.
The furniture is Steel, the interiors are rundown, the menu is extensive (more on the boards), ranging from Chinese, mouhglai, sandwiches, rolls, parathas, etc etc etc.
The emphasis quite like iranis is on eggs and the tall stacks of egg baskets tucked into one corner of the eatery is testament to that.
Ive had most of the egg dishes there and all are ranging from good to very good, though my favourite the egg ghotala is not on the menu, but is courtesy of the beforementioned helpful friendly owner whos always willing to experiment, and customize the food for me.
The Chinese tastes like typical road Indochinese with a penchant for oil, poorer quality ingredients and liberal use of MSG.
Still if your craving for street Chinese (I know I do sometimes and its why I went to this place), LOP is as cheap as eating on the road but more comfortable and accessible.
The Moughlai is off a template…..5 gravies 10 ingredients, biryani mix and match the 2/3 and you have the dishes in the moughlai section.
I love the daal and the masala fry (match with ingredient of your choice).
Maybe its just me but I liked being able to buy chocolates and ice-creams, wafers etc at kirana prices.
Nothing is gourmet or outstanding, and the hygiene itself may be questionable.
But prices the likes of which haven’t been seen since 1999, an extensive menu , great location, and friendly owner and staff push this eatery into “very good” category.
A nice place to have dinner/lunch/breakfast in pocket-friendly rates in such a posh Bandra area. They serve everything from Irani chai, bun maska, chinese, biryani to indian curries and dal tadka along with lassi and other refreshments. The ambience is old and okayish but the taste was satisfactory if not great with a very fast service. Good option for people visiting Jaslok or nearby hospitals.
PS: Even it is cheap in rate, it is just in front of World’s costliest house- Antillia, house of Mukesh Ambani!

A very simple and old eatery. Palak paneer was satisfactory. Irani tea was excellent. Veg clear soup and biriyani were too spicy and just not palatable. Try only the dishes that their patrons recommend

I visited this cafe on a trip to museum from my college where this was the only eatery available. I'm very delighted by the quick service and respect. The owner too seemed friendly he welcomed us and also what i observed was he was very much involved in helping his staff, i've seen owners who just like to sit and order but he was nice although we didn't try anything much because we were running short for time but i hope to visit this cute little cafe again InshaAllah

It is the only restaurant in the locality serving a variety of dishes. An age old Irani restaurant popularly known for its bun maska, Irani chai, Keema pav and omlettes... Plentiful options available for non veg lovers while vegetarians can try misal pav, sandwiches or thali. It seems their chef is not well acquainted with Punjabi foods like Parathas.
The owners are always ready to serve with a smile and don't crack under pressure! Their services are quick, prices - very down to earth & the waiters are polite.
I have had many lunches here during the recently held MIFF 2022 & seem to have got fond of this place...
