Went here for dinner last week and was not disappointed. Other indian places you go to, will be gloomy. But at Moti Mahal, the air was alive, the staff, the sounds, the fresh food smell, it was all creating an environment with a life of its own.
What an exquisite selection with so many items, I am visiting Mumbai from USA and Moti Mahal is one reason to come here.....but aren't all good things. As my dad says, "you'll find ....gold buried deep in the mountains, and Pearl's deep in the ocean hidden but worth the effort. Moti Mahal too is a hidden gem in the heart of Mumbai....So I'd say make that trip and see what you've been missing out of.

Moti Mahal, originally from Delhi, established itself in Bandra years ago. Known for being the creator of the famed butter chicken, of course this is what you should try here. They serve a very Delhi style creamy butter chicken with piping hot naans, which is expensive, but worth a try.
Moti Mahal, located in Bandra has such a lovely decor and they have great music playing in the background it just steps up for a great night. They serve a variety of cuisines. I just loved their butter chicken it's the best according to me in Mumbai, also their Paneer makhwanwala is mouth watering. Overall er had a great experience.

We have been loyal to these dishes for years now, Murg Tawa lahori, Murg Tikka masala and Peshawari murg. The cost is lil bit expensive but good for occasions!!!!

Nice ambience and great staff. The location is superb right on the junction no can give it a miss. Coming to the food it's great and quantity is also enough for two. We like the starters the mushroom and pahadi aloo were nice and the panner tikka was perfectly spiced and cooked.

Excellent quality of food for the Indian cuisine lovers. The mutton sheekh kebab was well marinated with the spices and just melted in the mouth. The mutton was soft and flavourful , the daal bhukara was just like “ maa ki hath ki daal “ and the aloo jeera cooked till aloo was soft like a petal

The wrong order was given to me and it took more than an hour to get delivered. And everything wasnt packed well. Everything was leaking and the bag was soaked in oil and the ingredients. No onion was given as well.

Most of the places in bandra are veg and non veg only.
Again this is famous for non veg. Very limited veg jain options but good north Indian food.
Family restaurant with live music and singer was too good, it was a birthday celebration so he played many birthday songs for us, but this place is not for youngsters so I didn’t enjoy much but rest everyone from other tables were enjoying kishor Kumar n etc legendary singers songs.

Everything I have ever eaten here has been soulful. I was never disappointed. They have really polite staff. All meals are value for money.
I love their Burnt Garlic Soup,Hot and Sour Soup,Manchow Soup,Dal Makhni,Assorted Roti Basket,Paneer Tikka,Veg Seekh Kebab, Harabhara Kebab...superb...simply superb. It's always a pleasure to dine hear. I also love their fixed menu where the portions are unlimited but food dishes are fixed there are about 2-3 appetisers,soups,roti basket,rice, some juice/soft drink,and dessert. I don not have pictures since I'm posting the review after a really long time and not immediately after my meal at this place..apologies for no pictures.
Best family restaurant and also the staff here is very good.I especially love the soups specifically the monchow soups as they give a fresh frangbance and aroma

We were at Moti Mahal for lunch on Saturday. We ordered the Paneer Pesto Tikka, Masala Papad, Paneer Tava Subji and some Naan.

Moti Mahal is an iconic name which I have been hearing about since I was a kid. Somehow this place has survived against a very tough and modern competition from newer and more modern outlets. Staff here is old school but very helpful and courteous. Decor is very plain and simple with all white literally - it gives you the feel of seventies. We ordered -
1. Poha tukda masala papad
2. Reshmi kabab
3. Paneer pesto tikka
4. Peach delight mocktail
5. Dal bukhara
6. Veg bhuna balls
7. Garlic naan and rotis
Food was overall good and tasty. Mocktail was too sweet which was corrected when pointed out. They also have live music on certain days. Do visit the place if you want to have the feel of seventies with good food.

Moti Mahal is legendary and it was a childhood favourite for Indian food! It has survived and thrived through the years in spite of stiff competition from newer restaurants springing up almost every other day! To me that in itself is a huge accomplishment!! Loved their butter chicken and kid Gohst..mouth watering!! Delicious!! Didn't care much for the rabdi and kulfi is nice... Roomali roti was nicely done! Wishing the restaurant many more good years!
Moti Mahal Restaurant, Bandra is a perfect place for an amazing meal with family and friends. It has a very beautiful ambience with effective lighting. The placement of tables and chairs along with the colour combination makes it a very pleasant place to be in. The food is delicious. You cannot ask for more. Right from the starters to the desserts and drinks every dish was appetising, so much so that we even took a parcel. The service is smooth and the staff is very friendly and co-operative. Don’t forget to visit. It’s totally worth it!

Interestingly whenever i'm in Mumbai and have to rush to the airport, first i head towards Moti Mahal with my luggage. They serve excellent Indian food. Their chinese food is also very impressive. The ambience of this place is calm and classy.

During one era, moti mahal was considered one of the finest dining place in bandra. There used to be long queues of people outside the restaurant waiting endlessly to eat here. It was the elite class kinds. Well known for its butter chicken n dal, this place was the quintesstial trend setters in the burbs for the divine north Indian cuisine. I remember eating here only on very special days or if someone else was treating. 😀 The food was supposed to last on ur tongue for a long time as it had great flavours which were unbeatable then by any competitiors around. But as time flew this place got outdated. Slowly the crowds got lesser and the waiting period got almost nil. Nowadays it is easier to get a table easily here. The food also has changed by leaps n bounds over the years. Now this quality if food is available at almost every fine dine or even casual dines. Its lost the magic of those wonderful recipes. The staff too was a bit airy then but never rude.....cos they knew they were in demand, now of course its all at par. The food is fine here now but definitely not over the top. At one time it was considered very expensive but now it is the same standard as most other places. The location is fantastic. Right at the junction of turner road and waterfield road. So its very apparent to the eye.
Strictly silent family restaurant from my side.. you won't enjoy with friends as the staff comes to hush thug down even with the little voice u make.
As for food, Indian food is way tastier than Chinese there. One should try the veg kebabs & chicken tikka.. the staff suggestions were better than us experimenting with dishes..
Since im a punjabi Butter chicken is like a staple food for us.I had never thought il eat the best Butter chicken not anywhere in north india but in mumbai...Butter chicken out here along with the dal tadka is hands down the best dish on their menu for me and my family..Its so good that every time we visit Moti Mahal we end up eating that only...Zero spice(you can say good bye to acidity atleast) and no colour...Sober ambience perfect for family outings and great staff...Good job...

We were about 15 of us on our table and the relatives just wouldn't stop praising the food served here. Ordered pretty much all the available non-vegetarian starters to go with our bottle of Chivas Regal. The starters tasted damn good and super filling that I could only have couple of bites of the main course. Overall, a superb place for a family dinner.

I've been here a dozen times mostly with family and occasionally with clients and friends. Ambience is not great but decent. Can get noisy when the restaurant is full. My favorites are Hara Bhara Kebab, Garlic Butter Prawns, Chicken Tikka Masala, Pahadi Kebab and Butter Chicken with Roomali Roti or Plain Naan. Try the crispy fried bhendi also. For deserts, gulab jamun is made just right. Staff are friendly and helpful. Weekend evenings are terribly crowded, and you'll bump into well known personalities quite often.
