Best Maharashtrian food in Borivali !
This place serves authentic and tasty Maharashtrian food. It’s a small joint with limited seating. But you’ll find college students hanging out here and even an old aunty eating a thali by herself. The waiters are polite. 5 mins more than the usual delivery speed because they cook your meal on the spot. Be it thallipeth or wade.
Homely feel restaurant which I love a lot..
The place feels clean & very hygienic,
Food served here is very authentic in taste & comforting.
Do try their Missal & Batata wada.
Also they have lost of options for fasting too like Sabudana Wada, Aamti, Piyush etc.
Do try them for Maharashtrian food cravings

I being a Maharastrian i love this place as it serves the authentic maharastrian dishes, it is one of my favourite restaurants when it comes to having snacks. I always order vada misal pav or normal misal pav along with kokum sarbat. I have also tried corn thali peeth, everything whatever i have tasted here has never disappointed me. Overall a great experience.
Must visit!
Food 4/5

Godwa is one place where you can enjoy true marathi style snacks. The place is also clean and very customer friendly. Everyone Should try thalipeeth, kothibimir wadi its a treat to your taste buds.
Hi friends very good morning.
If you are a fan of mumbaiya or say maharashtrian breakfast then this place in borivali is possibly a best option available than any other joints! Unlike other restaurants serving similar food, Godwa is best for the taste, price and variety.
I have tried their thali pith and it’s sooo sooo good with loni that is fresh cream, and misal Pav is also too good. Kokam Sharbat and Gulab jamun are also good.
Visited this place for breakfast one fine morning. The place gives you a feel of a typical maharashtrian hotel with small tables and delicacies kept on the counter for sale. Ordered the below dishes :
1) Misal Pav - The misal was perfectly spiced and great to taste.
2) Sabudana Wadas - Crisp, perfect consistency & proper in taste
3) Solkadi - This one was fresh and tasty.
Overall, a perfect place to grab some maharashtrian delicacies.😋
A pocket friendly place
With great staff
The food here reminds me alot of home cooked food, the place has good misal paav
And I love their Piyush!
A very cute family and also pocket friendly place to have some real authentic maharastrian food . This place is really small but yet kept really hygienic . The service is really quick as well . I tried the thali and some sweets at this place and they were really very savory yet very simple . The food feels a lot like homemade Marathi maa ka haath ka khana yet really tasty . Will surely visit it again to satisfy my maharastrian food cravings .
Decent place a variety in Menu Àbove average taste fast service and reasonable price are the plus points.
Had been on a Saturday afternoon found them eager to serve things as fresh as if in the first hour of opening of the joint.
Really needs to be appreciated for everything.
A very tiny place to give Marathi thaska to everything, I'm so glad to find a Marathi food serving place. The service is so quick and the staff is very friendly. Plus, there's no waiting.
Coming to the food,
The Misal Pav is exactly how I like it, Spicy and with tarri, however it had too much salt, they should improve on that. We had to order curd, to mask the saltiness. (3.5/5)
The Kothambir Vadi- crispy, light, beautifully cooked. (4.5/5)
Piyush - just the perfect consistency and exact balance of sweet n salty. (4.5/5)
A woman entrepreneur, Ms. Geetanjali Shide, who like all successful people started out on a small scale selling home made Chapati & Bhaji, has today made it big with 3 branches of Godwa in Borivali & Kandivali.
Good quality food doesn’t need to be publicized; it reaches far & wide by word of mouth but now with social media being extensively used, the good word spreads faster. Having read some good reviews about them, I decided to pay a visit & check for myself.
KOLHAPURI MISAL [INR 60]
MIsal is a very famous Maharashtrian dish which basically a mixture of lentils / pulses, with some fried savouries, chopped onions and semi thick gravy. Every region has its specialty and Kolhapur is known to dish out a mean & spicy version of the Misal.
I asked for medium spicy version of the Kolhapuri Misal and it came in a crimson hue at the top. The gravy was coconut based & gave a nice burst of fiery flavours and was served on top of crunchy farsan and boiled pulses.
If you have a high tolerance for spice, then go for the spicy version of the Misal.
RECOMMENDED
CORN PATTICE [INR 70]
Fried onions, American corn tossed in spices were stuffed in a boiled potato casing and deep fried. The onion lent a nice sweet flavour to the mild spiced corn kernels. It was served with tomato ketchup.
THAALIPEETH [INR 60]
I liked the way it was served but didn’t like the way it was prepared.
Thaalipeeth is & has been always patted & baked on a tawa like a Paratha or Chapati, it is baked to certain degree of crispness as well. I can’t fathom a reason why it is deep fried by many restaurants.
Having said that, I can’t take away that fact that taste wise the Thaalipeeth was really nice with right amount of onions in the dough and a nice flavour to it. Most important of all, it was served with white butter which is closest to the home made “MAKKHAN” that we are used to having.
It was served with a mild chutney.
BATATA WADA [INR 40]
Decent sized crisply fried balls of spiced potato, were nice to taste. The filling was spiced properly with the required spices, importantly with whole coriander seeds and fresh coriander. It was served with a dry garlic chutney, which was absolutely amazing and a spicy dark green chutney which was spicy.
The Wada was mild and was accompanied by 2 spicy chutneys.
RECOMMEDED
SOLKADHI [INR 30]
A very Maharashtrian beverage made from Kokum & Coconut milk, served chilled.
The hallmark of Godwa is the homely touch in its taste. Since they have graduated from selling tiffins, they have got a hang of the flavour & taste that people look out for when thet eat regional food. Innovation & experimenting with preparation is another feature of this “Desi Hub”.
If you want to taste authentic Maharashtrain food, then you should visit this place.
Maharashtrian thali is worth the rates. But sometimes sabudana khichdi is tasteless n not served hot. Try thalipith in which they have plenty of varities. Piyush drink is like cherry on the cake after food.
Amazing food... wonderful taste.. you name food it's classic itself. Would say better than Girgaon Katta. Going forward will be first hand customer of this restaurant.
This place has a special identity for me because since childhood I am visiting here. Good ambience with quick n hygienic service. I will recommend here's Thalipeeth. It is served with Loni. Perfect in taste. I tried aloo paratha also n it was ok. Wish to come again here.
Nice place to eat traditional Marathi food I have tried almost everything here very good taste of kolhapuri misal & good taste of corn patiece & sabudana khichdi good for breakfast items....
It's a good place with good food. It has a few tables to n sit and eat as well. Does have a good variety also. The home delivery can be a bit better though. But overall a good place.
One of the best maharastrian breakfast available here , all on top poha , upma , sabudana khichdi and many more... now they have started serving lunch and dinner at their babhai naka borivali branch . highly recommended....
Typical maharastrian delicacies. The place is good. Food was also nice. Prices are average. Many options to try from a variety of dishes like the thaleepeth or sabudana vada and many more
Nice outlet to have Maharashtrian dishes. They even have good variety for fast(upas). This time v tried sabudana Wada and Piyush drink. Good taste. Nice service. And hygienic.
Godwa is one of the best place for morning breakfast upma, pohe, chapati bhaji, alu wadi, chole curry, batata sukhi, mug matki curry, cutlet, puran poli n more . But at new Godwa if u visit in morning some time u will never get the best item of their menu earlier in old Godwa they use to make all the item in babhai naka branch. In new Godwa only change is sitting area made.
Compare to rate very cheap there was a time in old Godwa office people come in the early morning to their outlet in babhai naka with empty tiffin n fill their lunch menu from this place, best n cheap chapati bhaji many option available now they have added pulav Biryani and sweet to their menu.
Recommended for all... Lowest price and good food.
Godwa is a classic maharashtrian eatery in Borivali.
Suggest to have their paneer pockets, thalipeeth and puri bhaji.
Misal pav being their signature item, tastes well.
Was just moving from that place thought of give it a try. The experience was very good the taste of ethnic maharashrian food was a pure delicacy misal pav(8.5/10) piyush (9.5/10) kothimbir vadi (8.5/10) to name a few are worth giving a try. Recommend to all maharashrian food lovers & also who want to try something new.
Went there recently with family to have their famous Misal Pav.
Must say it was awesome..really enjoyed it with Aam Panna drink .
Both were satisfying for a quick meal .
Sometimes the boring meetings can lead to absolute hunger. Same thing happened to us yesterday. Just while me & my colleague were out from a meeting, we were looking for a place to grab a quick bite. Just couple of blocks away we saw Godwa. This place is located at famous Babhai Naka of Borivali west, right next to Cafe Coffee Day. I have passed from this like many times, always thought shall visit. Finally visited them this time.
The place looks quite small from outside, but it is quite decent inside. The place is quiet clean and the service is quick. It serves Maharashtrian food and food items. The missal is available in different varieties i.e medium spicy, Kolhapuri( medium spicy), etc. The menu is interesting, it varies from snacks to lunch and dinner items. The service is quick & the rates are pocket friendly. They also serve sweets like peda, ukdiche modak, Puran poli, Mithai, Piyush etc.
Packet food items like chakli, chivda, puran poli, til poli, chutney etc is kept at the counter for sell. Which can be quite tempting to buy.
What we ordered!
1.Medium Spicy Missal : Really enjoyed the taste of missal here. The mixture was topped in good quantity and was fresh.
2. Amboli Chutney: Chutney was really yummy and the amboli was soft
3.Tea: The tea was not atall good. It was too milky and lacked flavour of tea powder.
Packed food Items: Til poli was crisp and good in taste. Lasun Chutney was fresh and tasted nice.
My take on the place:
Food: 3/5
Ambiance:3/5
Service:4/5
Price:3/5
Parking: street parking(own risk)
Definitely visiting them again!
One of our favourites.
Decent homely food.
They have started dosas also.
Tried sandwich pudla today, quiet good. non fried so liked more.
Quiet a few Jain items available. The reason I go there.
Will keep going.
Very nice place. I Liked the breakfast. BEST place for breakfast in borivali. Too cheap rates and awsome food items available. I ordered almost 7 items and its cost me only 262rs. I recommend to visit this place and try various items atleast once. Too good.
Great Place for a quick bite .... Brings back nostalgic memories of a maharastrian neighbourhood!!! Thalipeeth, pohe, batata wada & some very innovative bits like multigrain wada .... Must try !!!
Godwa...A small place at babhai naka, Authentic Maharashtrian food, Thali pith & misal pav you must try! It's a small eatery but good food! Misal resembles to Puneri misal! Typical Maharashtrian food on your mind....this is the place....GODWA! You will get all Maharashtrian dishes...snacks....lunch....and all. Anyone who likes Maharashtrian food should visit this place. It is quite reasonable on the pocket as well! Ambiance is also good. I'll surely visit this place again.
This place is good enough. Go there only if you want authentic maharshtian food! The food is awsum here if u like it maharashtrian delicacies. Good service!go there if you want to try authentic Maharashtrian food!
Go for it if you want real maharashtrian food not catering food .can have 8 dishes by 3people and it will hardly go rs 500.late afternoon avoid you might end up having very few I teams from menu
Amazing food especially the personal touch in the taste of Maharashtra, Loved the misal pav......
Banking on the positive Zomato feedbacks , I drove all the way to Bhabhai & decided to parcel off some breakfast items for the family this lazy Sunday morning.
Ambience:
I lost my way courtesy an incorrect guidance provided by the zomato android app & google map on my phone.
But on ringing them up, the lady on the other end of the phone guided me to this bright & inviting restaurant.
To be honest, i wasn't really expecting much on the ambience front, but i was pleasantly surprised to find the place neat, tidy, bright & colorful.
Service:
Although a few of the patrons seem confused & irritated by the order system out here, i was pretty impressed with the entire computerized setup. No waiters. It's a token - self service system.
The lady at the counter took down my order on a computer & printed out my bill that had a token number.
Another computer at the kitchen conveyed the order to the chefs who got going & shouted out the token number once the order was complete, for the patrons to come up & collect it in exchange of the token.
The lady at the counter - a middle aged maharashtrian, was sweet & guided me through the menu.
I ended up having a chat with her about the history of this joint while the order was being prepared.
Food:
- Dahi Missal: I'm a big fan of Missal Pav. Although my search for the perfect missal hasn't ended yet, this one was right up there! Perfect consistency & great taste. The curd toned down the spiciness of the missal though. Maybe next time around i will go for the normal version
- Farali Missal: Something unique. Never had this version of missal before. On the sweeter side, this was a good alternative
- Poha: Now you just can't go wrong with this if you are a maharashtrian! Some scope for improvement here though. Maybe the packaging made it a bit soggy. Will try it again.
- Onion Thali Peeth: Nicely done
- Paneer Pockets: Unique. Interesting. Tasty!
Pricing & VFM:
All this, more than sufficed the 3 of us - total damages - Rs. 225.
Not bad! considering breakfast/snack at the usual Udupi restaurants also set you back by just about that much.
Definitely worth a repeat.
Next time around i will make it a point to confirm over the phone if Kothambir Vade & Alu Wadi are also available....will consider to up my rating only after i sample these.
Unfortunate to know there are not many maharashtrian cusine restaurants around. Hope these ppl spread across & give Mumbai the true taste of Maharashtra!
All the best guys!
Food is ok.. Rs 75 for a mini thali is good.. U can fill ur tummy. Ambience is clean. Live kitchen.
Visited today on Fasting occasion, Enjoy the Farali Misal and Uakdiche Modak, Very Delicious.
Food is good and it is a nice place.
.
.
Item seem little overpriced.
Good place for homely Maharashtrian food and prompt service. We tried sol kadhi which was amazing. Shrikhand was good too but I prefer it to be a tad sour. Thalipeeth was yum and zunka bhakar was tasty without excess oil they do in some places. Would try the snacks next time. Recommended!
An authentic maharashtrian hotel with amazing ambience and delicious food. They also have superb lunch and dinner delicacy. Superb sweets along with puranpoli and Modak and also lots of dry snacks 😋
It's awesome

Super delicious authentic maharashtrian food. Authentic taste of all food items, i love misalpav, vada, bhajiya, aluwadi, kothimbir vadi, puranpoli and last but not the least chai n coffee. I don't miss this place whenever I go to Borivali West. The only thing I miss is food gets over by 3, u won't get much items post that.
Authentic maharashtrian taste, Homely food, warm ambience, hygienic and reasonably priced amazing experince!
Good food and ambience. I go regularly. They need to change the menu as it gets boring for regulars.
If you are looking for authentic and vegetarian Maharashtrian cuisine in the Babhai area of Borivali West then Godwa is the place for you. The food taste and quality are excellent. The service is okay and the ambience is decent. They even have outdoor seating. The rates are reasonable and hygiene is maintained. Enclosed within the restaurant is a small shop that sells Maharashtrian dry snacks and sweets.
Each and every dish prepared here is delicious. One must try their kharvas which is nothing but cow’s colostrum. It comes in two varieties, one with sugar and other with jaggery. I personally, like the one with sugar. Their thalipeeth, cutlet and missal are scrumptious too.
One of the best Maharastrian restaurant in Borivali. Sabudana vada is the best. Misal pav is also good but kolhapuri misal is very very spicy with lots of oil (तर्री) in it. You can get many upvaas items here.
Decent home cooked Maharashtrian fare..
Mini thali was good, chapatis were amazing, though menu mentions koshimbir which is cut veggies in curd..
Nice n hygienic small eatery.Authentic Maharashtrian speciality. Good varieties to savour.Missal is a must try.Need to improve table service.Rest all a good experience.
Awesome Authentic Maharashtrian Food..Very Good service and reasonable rates..must visit for Maharashtrian Food Lover..they have speciality in fasting menu also.
