Cardboard
Located in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), the design concept of Cardboard quite literally explores out-of-the-box thinking. Its entire interior landscape, including furniture, light fixtures, signage as well as the menu card and bill and cutlery boxes, have been made using, well, cardboard.... It is also very durable, lightweight, insulating and exhibits excellent sound absorption properties making it extremely eco friendly... The furniture is made from thin cardboard sheets joined together and the Nude colour of the cardboard makes the place more brighter and yellow lights make it look really classy and spectacular...
✳️ I was here to review their menu and some new dishes introduced by them... Was really impressed by the chef 👨🍳 as he had already curated a menu for us and had chosen the best and new dishes to try... We started our meal with soup 🥣
• Broke Soup:::— Roasted broccoli 🥦 confit garlic and fresh cream, garnished with parmesan cheese and roasted almonds... The soup 🥣 very light and tasted amazing, the texture and thickness was upto the mark.. They served in a cute glass bowl which looked more appealing too... Loved the presentation and plating of each and every dish served here...
• After the soup we were served with a platter of hummus with 4 different hummus served with pita bread and southern chips... All four hummus very different in taste and very unique too... Zen.., is a classic chickpea hummus with olive oil.. And Spiffy.., is a mung bean hummus topped with spicy green chillies, tomatoes and onions... Then there was Slick..., black eyed peas and sweet potato 🍠 garnished with fried garlic and lastly Wango..., is a aubergine, garnished with sun dried tomatoes 🍅 pomegranate and balsamic reduction... I loved Slick and Spiffy highly recommended....5/5
• After hummus, I tried one egg dish which is from their all day breakfast menu... The dish name is Babu::— it’s a broken fried eggs with vegetables and southern curry, maple syrup and curry leaves.. The was little sweet and tangy.., Perfect balance of all the flavours... I had never tried eggs with southern curry and curry leaves was little finicky about it..., but chef told to give it a try and totally loved his recommendations...5/5
✳️ Then we were served with appetizers... As we were here to review the place as bloggers.. , the portion served to us are small so don’t mistaken it as seen in the photos.. we had four appetizers in total... The first was Bong..., it’s a classic Bengali chop with a twist and shaped round like ball topped with a tangy bell peppers sauce.. Second, was named What is Hip..., it was a cabbage, potato, ginger and poha croquettes with orange 🍊 jalapeño sauce really loved the sauce... Third, was Fooling Around..., it was a roasted black eyed pea and vegetable grilled patty with pineapple and mint chutney.. and I guess it had beet roots too as the colour of the patty was red... Fourth, was the Skinney rolls..., goat cheese and sundried tomatoes were rolled in the thin sheets of zucchini served with coconut and mint chutney..,, cheese was really fresh and tasted delicious....
✳️ Then there were flat breads, newly introduced in the menu... They served us
• Fat-so..???:::— It was a four cheese 🧀 flat bread with Feta, mozzarella, yellow cheddar and goat cheese combined with some herbs and homemade tomato sauce... 4.5/5
• Glam:::— And this was really a glam.., it looed so beautiful and colourful.. The combination of this flat bread was really unique and delicious... The base was homemade pesto topped with zucchini, goat cheese, mozzarella, dates, cherry tomatoes and sundried tomatoes 🍅..., the flavour of dates on a pizza tasted amazing and sweet taste of dates, tangy taste of tomatoes and pesto were blending so perfect when you take a bit of it, in every bite you will feel like heaven... Highly recommended by Fussyaboutfood 5/5
✳️ The main course too was a unique flavour for my palette.., it was a coriander coconut curry with mushroom 🍄 tofu, onions served with rice and crisp aubergine 🍆 this was ok....
✳️ Lastly, the dessert served to us was Short Gun and it was Parle-g cheese cake with chai glaze and caramelised ginger, pistachios and oldmonk... The flavour of chai ka Masala was too empowering the whole dessert.. Was not happy with that...
✳️ We also called for a juice called Hey Sunshine it was a blend of pineapple, orange, carrot and ginger freshly blended together... The colour and flavours of the juice was very refreshing and fresh... 5/5
✳️ Lastly, ended my meal with some really strong coffee called Bon bon.., it was a two shot Expresso with one part of condensed milk... strong and sweet the coffee need to be hot...
Cardboard serves dishes which are vegan and gluten free too.. so, health freaks and Vegan this place is definitely a must try for you all...
