We ordered for a Supreme Thali which thankfully we were allowed to share, a portion of Paniyaram and a plate of Pongal. The thali was superbly tasty and the Paniyaram was delicious. The Pongal could have been more flavourful and I was found it bland. We also ordered a potion of rasam vada which was very crispy and worth all the calories 😬

Located near Marine lines station , this place is perfect spot to have some delicious authentic tasting south indian dishes . The place has some really great ambience ; making you feel like you are having your breakfast in south india . The place is famous for its paper dosa so we tried it !! Kept forward was a 3ft , mouth watering , crispy , hot dosaa placed on banana leaves along with tomato chutney, coconut chutney and sambhar . The first glimpse of the dosa was just so amazing 🤯 . This dosa is sufficient for 3 people or 2 if you are hungry enough 😂 . We ordered dal vadai and filter coffee too . South indian dishes are incomplete without a sip of some hot , filter coffee . The total bill was 432₹ inclusive of taxes ;225₹(dosa)+ 130₹(vada)+57₹(coffee) overall a wonderful paisa wasul experience 🥰

I had been to one of the finest restaurants in the dream city Mumbai. "Gughan Supreme South Indian" is an authentic Tamil food restaurant which serves very tasty and delicious food. They served us various different dishes like the ghee milepepodi idli which was absolutely stunning and I was really overwhelmed with the taste of the dish. Also Rasam Vadai was another tasty dish served to us and truly speaking it was outstanding. Going forward they served us ghee milepepodi madras onion dosai which we loved the most and after that onion tomato oothapam which was appetizing. Idli and dosai were served with the authentic gunpowder which was finger-licking. And ultimately here comes the sweet dishes which included pineapple sheera and payasam which is just like a kheer. Everything was delectable and we enjoyed having food here.
Coming to the ambience part, it was phenomenal and the crockeries and the neat and clean tables and the surrounding was a treat to the eyes. Everything was kept properly in place.
The kind of service provided was a cherry on the cake and the staff was really nice and polite towards us. One of the staffs was suggesting different dishes which I mentioned above. And everything was fantastic when it comes to food and service.
The cost of the dishes is also reasonable so ultimately I cannot find a single reason for not visiting this wonderful restaurant. Overall it was an incredible experience and we njoyyyyyed allooooooottttttttttt and I would strongly urge you all to visit this place once..........!!!!!!!!😋😋
Cozy place located near Marine Lines railway station. Staff is friendly and service is fast. Must try their Gughan Supreme Meal, Pineapple Sheera, Tamil Nadu Degree Filter Coffee.
It's a beautiful Sunday morning & instead of going into to the kitchen you are thinking to march out of the home & look for a cafe that serves delicious yet home style comfort food.
I am personally not a big fan of South Indian food but when cooked & served in an authentic way I definitely count on it. So when dreaming for an amazing & fantastic South Indian breakfast think about Gughan located at Marine Lines.

* Gughan All Day Breakfast Meal - It included Idli, Medu Vada, Upma, Pongal & Pineapple Sheera.

Happy Meal! :)
So this was much of a unplanned food spot.
But it really was beautiful showcasing true South Indian style flavours and ambience being truly South Indian and having a taste of its own topped with its delicious filter coffee. It just did melt our hearts to the perfect pleasure.
"Gughan" means another name of lord kartikeyan as informed to us by our server.
It specialises in serving authentic, pipping hot delicacies from the state of tamil nadu.
The entire ambience and freshness of this place recreates the southern aura in one go.
Delicate, intricate wood carving on door, wall artifact's and humble, welcoming staff adds to the charm of this place.
We called for the following dishes:
💥Ghee podi idli - No points for guessing soft and spongy idlies loaded with ghee, molgapodi, curry leaves. Most favourite and highly recommended 👍
💥sukku kappi - Dry ginger, coriander drink sweetend with jaggery and no added milk. Never had something so soothing in ages. Highly recommended 👍
💥Cauliflower 65 - One of the specialities of tamil nadu street side munchies is gobhi 65, supremely tasty garlicy flavour.
💥Ghee Masala Dosa - crispy dosa filled with aloo sabji, and very filling.
💥kesari - One cannot miss out on kesari which basically is ghee pineapple sheera. Must try. perfectly sweet, hot and oh so yummy.
💥Supreme meals - Unlimited authentic south indian meals served on banana leaf which consists of salt, pickle, fried chilly, 2 types of chatni, palak dal, plain dal, sambhar, rasam, buttermilk, raita, curd, tangy gravy known as kozumbh, veg korma, cauliflower potato fry, payasam, biryani rice, mini uttapam, parotta, papadam, white rice.

The perfect South indian vibes you will get from the moment you enter this place, from ambience to food to staff.
They use the natural ingredients which are sourced from Tamil Nadu, also they do not use any artificial colors or flavours.

Butter milk- It was so refreshing.
Gughan Supreme Thali- Comes with two special gravy, two vegetables, dal , sambhar, rasam, raita, curd, buttermilk, veg pulav, steam rice, uttappam, layered roti and pappad.
It's more than enough.

Filter Kaapi- Strong and Great.
Thanks to Mr. Rakesh for serving us.
All that i tried is recommended.
If you are near Marine drive do visit once.
Greeted with extreme politeness, the staff started with explaining us about their restaurant, the cuisines, the spices & the authenticity we should expect from the food. Trust me it was as authentic as we could expect. We had Payasam, pineapple sheera, limited thali, milagapodi idli, filtered coffee & sukku kaapi. I would definitely recommend this place for people hunting for that authentic South Indian food in Mumbai.
As it goes by the name itself, Gughan is one of the most prestigious and supreme South Indian Veg restaurant located near the Marine Lines.
The staff has people who have travelled all the way from Tamil Nadu. Even the spices and ingredients are exported from their native state.
I went there during lunch hours on a weekday and was surprised to see the place completely packed. Taking from the entrance way outside to the decor inside, all creates a proper Tamilian vibe for the customers.
What I ordered:
1) Payasam and Sheera:
I was suggested of the food by the manager himself, and was served with Payasam and Sheera at first. Payasam is treated as a starter in their culture. It was completely different in a good way than all the other payasams I have tasted in past. It had the right amount of tanginess and sweetness at the same time. The sheera was a pineapple sheera. All life long I thought it is supposed to be yellow like sold in the markets. But it looked like a regular sheera, had the proper sweetness with pineapple flavour and actual chunks of the fruit at times. For a person who doesn't like sweets, it was surprising to see my plate completely empty at the end.
2) Ghee Milagapodi Idli
Then I ordered their iconic dish the Milagapodi idli. The quantity for the price was too good with 8 idlis. As the name suggests, it was tossed in ghee with their homemade milagapodi masala of ground red chillies, urad dal, and sesame seeds. The idlis were the right amount of cooked and was so soft and a complete melt in mouth. Amazing blend of spices which tasted like heaven.
3) Gughan Tamil Nadu Limited meals
This was the limited version of their iconic supreme thali. This one consisted of :
1 oothapam
1 appalam/papad
1 bowl of rice
Kaara khuzhambu (special gravy)
1 vegetable
Veg kuruma
Sambhar
Rasam
Payasam
Chutney
butter milk
lemon pickle and fried chilli.
It was a full tummy filling experience with a buzzle of different different flavours. Specially the Kara Khuzhambu was a complete new dish I tasted. It was tangy and spicy and when mixed with rice, tasted sheer heaven. For those who like a little spice, will love this particular dish.
4) Sukku Kaapi and Filter Kaapi
Don't have to explain what a fliter kaapi is. The famous filter coffee is loved by all and this place serves one of best and most authentic. The sukku kaapi is a blend of dry ginger and coriander with water. A perfect blend of flavours and feels amazing to the taste buds.
Overall experience was amazing. The managing team was really cooperative and polite. The place has amazing Tamil food with authentic taste, reasonable and good quantity according to the price. The crowd is a classy one of families and office going public who come during lunch hours. Don't hesitate to stop by when in Marine Lines.

Visited this place for dinner. Must try their Ghee Milagapodi Idli, Filter Coffee and Sheera. Helping staff and nice ambience. Easy to reach and affordable.
Best place for South Indian Tam-Brahm cuisine ! Superb interiors giving it a feel of being in South India itself. Very very courteous staff who explains you every detail of each dish. Best place for food outings with family. Resto has the best quality of food.
Gughan Supreme is surprisingly not a very well known restaurant in the locality but quality wise, i can assure you that it would be a mammoth task to find a better south indian restaurant than Gughan.
The ambience was attractive as shown in the picutres. As we entered, we saw people having meals on bana leafs which seemed very cool but we didn't have the same as it was too heavy. We had Medu vada Rasam, Mysore rava onion dosa, rice with sambhar & Neer Moru. My favorites would be Medu vada rasam and neer moru which should not be missed when visiting Gughan. Also, mysore rava onion dosa was quitr decent and cannot be missed, but if you have the appetite, do not kiss the all day breakfast meal or the full meal served on banana leaf which looked so amazing.
The staff was very polite and to my surprise, they all spoke english and that too very fluently. They have a decent staff but just a warning, keep asking them for the remaining food to be brought on the table. They forgot out rice with sambhar which came to us after we reminded them 2-3 times and after we had finished all the other items. Otherwise the staff is excellent.
A must visit and should be talked about more often than it is now. Good job..

I felt the decor was very much traditional and interesting right from the entry door to the big statues, all were amazing and gave good vibes.
Now coming to the food:-
1. Mysore masala dosa (5/5): This one was my favourite. I really liked it.
2. Rava masala dosa (4.5/5): It was too crispy but tasty.
3. Rasam vadai (4.5/5): The vadai had black peppers in it which was something new, I never had such vadai. The taste was amazing.
4. Veg biryani (4/5): It was an average dish for me, also the quantity was less.
5. Paper dosa (5/5): It is 90m long dosa. It was served along with coconut chutney and sambhar
6. Payassam (5/5): it was made with coconut milk and jaggery.
I just loved everything except their slow service, like i literally had to wait 20mins for getting every dish and the reason they told was that the staff was on leave.
It is one of those restaurants in Mumbai, a South Indian food lover must visit and I had a good experience dining here.

So here is my visit to the ultimate south Indian serving restaurant. The place got some of the good vibes and ambience with all the unique sculptures of god and other decor is amazing. The service was good but not that fast, their was lot of confusion between the staff themselves. Now coming to the food that i tried, my friend from TN took me here so he only selected the order
1. Rasam vadai (5/5)- The mendu wada soaked completely with the rasam which was very tasty and healthy
2. Ghee roast idli (5/5)- If you don't like ghee than you can avoid this bcuz this dish is loaded with ghee and definitely drools with it's taste
3. Veg biryani (4.2/5)- Only thing i hated about this was the quantity was very low, even less for 1 person. Taste wise it was good for me
4. Paper dosa (4.8/5)- The giant dosa that almost covers the entire table and i ordered a plain but still it was good experience having with friends
5. Mysore masala dosa (4.8/5)- The masala stuffed in here was something different from what we have normally
6. Sheera (4/5)- Lastly i ended my meal over here, this sheera had essence of banana and raisins topped. Overall its a fine place to have some mouth smacking south Indian Thali's and all are just served perfectly. Place is meant for South Indian food lovers and once shouldn't miss this one

Went there for breakfast in the morning at 8.50 am on Sunday(16th Feb 2020l after watchi)Curly Tales Video. Ended up enjoying everything from food to service to ambience. Have ordered Breakfast Thali which had a super soft idil, tasty milk upma, authntic savoury pongal, mini masala dosai, ghee pine apple sheere, freshky made medhu vadai and super famous tamil nadu degree filter coffee. We also ordered ghee rava mysore masal dosai,
The famous nei milagapo podi idli and rasam vadai. The mysore masal dosai is pure and pure southern taste. Potato masal was the best in the doasi. Both coconut chutney and tomato chutney were so fresh and tating great. The rasam in rasam vadai is so different from other mumbai restaurants which had dal, tomaro, imli and authentic rasam powder. Sambhar is typical tamilian with lot of vegies and thank god not sweet at all . The cool ambience is plus point. Need to mention about thetheir super fast and friendly service (from security to manager). Certainly there is enough reasons for us to come back again and again. Would highly recommend to others. Would like to vote 10/10.

Parota is so flaky and goes good with veg kuruma. The filter coffee is just amazing. Cozy place with cool interior. Nice staff.
As I was very busy in my daily routine but was looking for some South Indian food, my friend suggested me this outlet as it is located in the heart of Mumbai which is Marine lines, so we firstly spend some time at Marines and hence then went for dinner at this place.

Loved the ambience here. Feels typical South Indian vibes because of wall artefacts n kollams
The staff is rude n has laid back attitude
The food portions r huge n so is their thali
We started with Milagi Idli podi
The Idli was soft and the podi tasted good. It was drizzled with good amount of aromatic ghee.
Then, we ordered paniyaram
The savoury ones were good but sweet ones were out of shape n uncooked from centre
The Rassam Vada waS good
So was the filter coffee n almond milk
The thali was huge one
Then we ordered kesari. It was very soft n again made with aromatic ghee. Loved it.
To sum up, the experience was spoilt bcoz of uncooked sweet paniyaram n attitude of the staff.
Rest, if I ignore these things, loved this place.
The ambiance is simple but attractive well decorated with south indian artifacts. The place is very well know and is mostly very crowded on weekends

GHUGAN is situated in——— MARINE LINES, MUMBAI.
Its a South Indian Theme Restaurant which is a treat for all the south cuisine lovers!
The Interiors are fabulous as they replicate authentic south feels. Starting from the entrance, the typical wooden high doors with golden knobs then the wooden brown chairs to the temple bells and wall art painted man faces, everything about the decor was mind boggling. Yes, coming to the food it was typical south Indian food with a lot of dishes on their menu. We had so many options to choose for but we went for the famous ones.
We ordered:
•RASAM VADAI,
It was hot orange Rasam with small pocket size Medu Vada’s. The Medu Vadas soaked the rasam and really complimented each other. The Rasam was flavourful and rich in taste.
•GHEE MILAGAPODI IDLI
It was rice steam idli tossed in ghee and spices. It had those south ingredients which couldnt be found in Bombay at least. The Idli was soft and rich is spices.
•GHEE MILAGAPODI ONION DOSAI
It was Crispy Dosa which was prepared with onion and spices filling inside. I never had such an amazing dosa as it was their specialty, it kept their name with that dish.
•ONION UTHAPPA
Thick dosa is basically called uthappa, so this was one giant one. Onion uthappa was perfectly cooked and flavourful. It was crispy yet soft and tasted amazing with hot Sambhar.
•GUGHAN SUPREME THALI
It was one Bahubali thali it seemed! They served this amazing food on a banana leaf with all their love. There were so many bowls of food that i was almost full looking at them.
We had Mix Veg bhaji, Garlic bhaji, Rasam, Sambhar, Chutney, Palak Dal, Dal, Raita, Curd, Buttermilk, Boiled Rice, Veg biryani, Papad, Paratha, Uthappa, Pickle.
It was really tiring to eat it all but yet it was so tasty. Everything tasted so authentic.
•BUTTERMILK
They served it before the food came as a refresher and it was an amazing refreshment. Creamy and cool, with coriander and chillies sprinkled.
•FILTER KAAPI
We ordered it to try on their specially coffee which they call KAAPI. I loved it as it was strong and i could literally smell the coffee beans which is a sign of originality.
•GHEE SHEERA ( SOOJI KA HALWA)
Yes, it was my dessert and it was so yum.
It was made in pure ghee with so much of love. It was a perfect ending to mu south food journey!
Staff and service is well versed with the menu and smooth with their work.
Overall Amazing place to go and hog on south Indian food. Have breakfast, lunch or dinner, it will fulfil you with the best. Thankyou so much for the best south Indian food.
Located at the most famous location in Mumbai, this restaurant is a pretty little place with a typical South Indian vibe. Pretty by the walls, this restaurant has total South Indian flavours in everything that it offers. I had Rasam wada, which was lovely, Idli podi which had ghee in every bite, onion uttappam with all that amazing taste and ghee podi dosa which was long enough to fill your tummy with a yummy taste! Their filter coffee was the best (as always) and sooji sheera was rich in ghee. Lovely place to be, when you want to satiate your South Indian cravings.

Gughan Supreme South just keeps ig with its simplicity. Where you get a good comprehensive food from Tamil Nandu- Madurai Style Food!
Can say one of Comfort food with a balance of spice, ghee and everything that can make it great.
This place has a high potential to be one of those unique restaurants that helps us to give the authentic food from other state with that finesse presentation of serving on Banana Leaf.
Highlight: Coconut Chutney- That's freshly grinded comes with every dish. You go crazy about this one..
Sambar: That's so sober in taste, just like homemade comfort food.
The Supreme Thali is exceptionally well versatile in terms of the spread that you get to eat in just 350/-

If you love South Indian food then you must visit Gughan.. this restaurant serves pure South Indian delicacies in a very presentable and hygienic way..!! The ambience is good but service a little slow..! Talking about the food, they have hundreds of Dosa options that you'll actually get confused which one to have as all sound mouthwatering!! Apart from dosas they also serve starters, lassi, coffee, biryani and more!!
We had Lassi which was thick and sweet!! Also tried the medu wada which was really crispy and tasty! Talking about the Dosa.. was very excited to try out the Paper cheese Roast.. it was huge, crispy, cheesy and just made our day! Another Dosa we tried was Ghee Milagapodi Onion Dosa.. didn't know how this would be but to be honest I really liked it.. it was unique in taste and also their speciality !! Had fresh lime soda which is a must, highly refreshing..!! Tried the Kothu Paratha which is a combination of two mashed parathas with gravy.. found it okay not bad! We had the Sheera which was good... And finally the filer Kaapi which was great! Overall if you'll want to experience a South Indian Dining then this place is a must go!!
This place is located at marine lines, 5 mins walking from railway station. Talking about ambience : it was pretty cool, loved the entrance, interiors and lights.
What i tried :
Ghee milagapodi idli - it was very different from the idlis we have normally, it had masala which tasted really good.
Lassi and fresh lime soda as fresh appetizers.

Chettinadu parota,
Supreme thali - It had dal with ghee, sambar, rasam, kaara khuzhambu, chutney, veg biryani, veg karuma, 2 uttapam, rice bowl, 2 vegetables, curd, butter milk, papad and pickle. It was really huge and we were so full after it.
Onion uttapam- It was Soft and onions were crispy, just perfect.
Filter kaapi - It was served in a unique traditional cup, loved it.
Overall loved this place! Must visit place for south indian food lovers!
Gughan is one of the most significant restaurant in Mumbai. The location is also superb as this restaurant is located near the throne to the city (Marine Lines) of Mumbai. After having food here a good feeling of South Indian style will rush through your veins and then a walking distance towards the pleasing sea waves will help you digest the treat that you just had.
Talking about food, they are popular for their Supreme Thali so we ordered some dishes and The Thali. The service is very fast and the staff is very interactive with their customers no doubt. Trust me that the taste of the dishes in this restaurant is much better and much more significant than any other South Indian restaurant in Mumbai. I do agree that they stick to their traditional Karnataka style which is very rare to find.
Here are the dish stuffs we ordered
Ghee milega Puri
This is a special dish which is nothing but Idli sambhar with a blend of unique style. It didn't tasted like any normal idli sambhar, it was something different. The idli is coated with some crispy essential coat with rai on it.
Rasam Wada
The wada is very well cooked and nicely garnished.
Madras onion butter dosai
In Karnataka, they call Dosa as Dosai. This dosai is filled with their uniquely made masala and onion which had an amazing taste.
Madras onion Uthappa
Supreme Thali
The supreme thali is a very big looking delicious platter served over a banana leaf which is the traditional way to have food in the Indian Madrasi Style. It includes 14 types of platter with 4 sabjis, 3 dals(included rasam), 3 types of dahi item, 1 biryani, and 2 chattni. Also includes rice, Uthappa, paratha and papad.
Drinks
Pomegranate Juice
Butter Milk
Lassi
Overall a very best experience with this restaurant without any doubt. Recommended to all. Thank you 😊
