The oulet is located in chembur. If u want to have some home made dishes then this is the best place for you to visit once. It serves very tasty food. This place is known for serving best breakfast and lunch.
They have an ellaborated menu. The rates of the dishes are not to expensive but are reasonable. The food they serve is very tasty and delicious. The quantity is also pretty good. My fav is dal khichdi and veg biryani.
The outlet is also well maintained and the staff is also very polite.
Would like to visit here next time.

Best place for a college student to eat especially if you don't have much money in your wallet. Food taste like home made. Superb rotti. Yummy butter chicken. Veg thali is cheap and good. Little congested but neat and clean. A must try place.

If you want some really, really tasty food at unbelievably cheap rates, this is where your search ends! This place kinda gets you hooked on. Every dish on the menu is packed with flavours and great taste, although my favourites are the mixed veg parantha and dal khichdi.

Fresh, homely food served at a minimal price for all those broke college students and those who do not want to eat the food served in their horrible messes.

It's a Dhaba run by some polite Bihari guys in true Bihari ishtyle. The Parathas are some of the best in Mumbai snd the Chapatis seem just like they do at home. The curries too are Home Like. The ambience resembles a Canteen eith closed tables accommodating people by sharing them at times. The menu isn't elaborate, but the Parathas and Chickens do make for a good treat.

It's really nice place for foodies seeking Home-Like cooked North Indian Food. I have tried Aloo Parantha, Egg Thali, Veg Thali there, it's nice. Not a place to find any famous delicacy but good food.

P.S.- Although being on the main road, it is hard to locate. Place is quite congested.

This is the closest I have come to get a feel of a dhaba especially menu and food wise. Food has the same look, feel and taste as that in a dhaba, though the vessels are a bit "metro" (chicken handi being served in plastic vessel instead of a actual handi), especially the tawa roti which makes you feel "countryside" all over again. Worth visiting once just for the food itself and if you want to relive the dhaba feel (however limited it may be) once again.

Uttam Dhaba:

Went here for the first time, and fell in love with this humble place.

Ordered a Punjabi Thali, that was awesome. I thought, it would be unclean plates with unclean Sabji and mediocre Daal. But, no.. It stumped me completely.

The Thali : It was served with two Rotis, nice rice, two sabjis, one of Aaloo-matar, other of Aloo alone, Daal, Curry, Papad, and some sliced onions, and a sweet dish too. You can have unlimited rice, Rotis, sabjis and Daal. The waiters do not shy away from you. If you demand just Daal, they would come and ask you if you want Sabji and Curry too. And they keep coming to you again and again. I had earlier experience of places where they serve unlimited amount, they would generally shy way from you. Throughout your stay, they will keep hovering over you, and check if you need something. Awesome service.

After having food, i went to the kitchen and stayed there at the door, saw the cleanliness and hygiene. Someone asked me if i want something. I said, " you people are amazing, thank you for great service and wonderful food." Instead of smiling in sheepish ways, they said," we want to thank you for the appreciation. Not everyone says what you are saying. People come, eat and go." That touched me.

Moral of the story: Not every inexpensive place/thing is cheap.

You keep stumbling on newer things in Mumbai, discovering places and people, that sometimes bowls you over. Isn't it true of any place, any institution too?

Isn't it true of a person too? A person is not just one person, there are layers inside, and some layers bowl you over, no?

Fantastic, value for money food. Well frequented by the TISS crowd. Excellent egg Masala, Thali, and oh my.. The Paratha - hard pressed to find such parathas in mainstream places. Try the Mix Paratha for sure.. Good service, they will customise the paratha the way you like.. So say you want aloo cheese, or aloo pyaaz, they'll do it if you ask nicely. Be sure to ask for more butter ? highly recommended to anyone looking for a quick, substantial bite and tasty parathas.

Admittedly located in a shady area in Govandi,Uttam Da Dhaba (lets call it UDD) is a hogger's paradise.Shacked up in front of Sakec Engg. College,it acts as a wonderful escape for those frustrated with bland pest ridden Veg canteen food.Although small in it's ''Square feet",it makes up with large servings and dollops of savoury food. The thalis are to die for(especially the Veg),where u get servings of rice, dal,Veggies,Papads and a sweet blob. The USP of the thalis are, they are Unlimited!!Yes,you heard it right.
You can order any constituent of the thali for eons and eons to come and they are gonna keep serving it to you until your belt drops off.All this for a 50 bucks, and you start to wonder where does there profit margin come from.
Lassi,as with any dhaba, are a must try.Admittedly a tad expensive for 40 bucks, they sure bring it in a huge tumbler.
Chicken curry is as delicious as they come, although staying off the paneer would be seriously recommended.
The attendants are friendly in nature, and you could discuss any random happening with them and they would sit and chat till the sun goes down.
Light on the wallet and heavy on the stomach,UDD is a dhaba which is to be frequented when you are in the mood for some tummy filling food.
Recommended for college-goers.
