Jivhala is a fantastic place for Maharastrian food. It must be the only place in Mumbai to serve Dadpe Pohe. Absolutely awesome. It is a FORGOTTEN humble and homely dish. Their Missal, Vada, Zunka were also very good. Black Pav Bhaji is another dish only available here. (recommend it only for the brave and daring). Reasonable price, Excellent quality. Visit it!

This place is Specially known for it's Maharashtrain cuisine served along with there unique flavour of spices to give tempting looks to the dish.. The most warming thing is the service they provide by suggesting varieties as per the personal preference..
Ambience
It's really huge place, the ambience is amazing the way they have decorated there restaurant is very nice.. The restaurant gives a feel like a traditional old Maharashtrian wada.. They have segregated names of their seating sections in traditional Maharashtrian style..
They have three different sections, On the ground floor lies the kitchen on the right and air conditioned seating.. As you go on first floor towards AC section, you can see the awards they won on one side, then you can see photo frames with traditional Maharashtrian cuisine.. Great Maharashtrain vibe with saffron colour all over & beautiful Vitthal idols.. I personally loved the Vitthal palki made with small dolls as it looks cute and amazing.. The tables are elegant & arranged systematically.. The floor above is airy and has a Dhaba like feel.. Background of Paithani saree, miniatures of Vithala & Varkari, wooden windows & brass utensils makes it a cozy place to eat & understand Maharashtrian culture..
Food
The menu serves authentic Maharashtrain cuisine.. The spread is huge with veg & non veg dishes perfectly balanced.. Price wise its worth it.. They use local spices and you actually feel the difference when you eat it.. Apart from that they have North Indian as well.. Spices and flavors used here very authentic and everything we tried was full of flavors..
What we tried,
Beverages:
1. Solkadi:- 4.5/5
It's kind of welcome drink and was wondering how can it be so perfect.. Extremely refreshing and flavourful.. Probably it was the best Solkadi i have ever had!
2. Taak:- 4/5
Serves great as a welcome drink.. Butter Milk served leave their footprints on the taste buds and are crafted from perfect curd.. It would not seem appropriate to try out a Maharashtrian meal without this.. Very appetizing and refreshing..
Starters:
1. Sabudana Wada:- 4.3/5
A perfect sabudana vada you can enjoy.. Crisp and flavorsome.. It was not at all oily.. It's served with green chilli peanut chutney which elevated the flavours of sabudana wada.. Overall tasted amazing..
2. Kothimbir wadi:- 4.2/5
The amount of Kothimbir in the wadi was to the point & lend the dish a wonderful fresh herby taste.Very different from the rest. More coriander less besan. Super crisp and crunchy yet melt in the mouth.
3. Alu wadi:- 4/5
A traditional item which is made of rolled colocasia leaves & besan.. Had a bit disappointing with this.. It lacked the typical Maharashtrian touch.. But somehow I still liked the presentation.. It was crisp to perfection.. overall tastes different and very good..
4. Thalipeeth:- 4.5/5
This is a healthier snack option but it doesn’t compromise on the taste.it was made up of 7 different flours and served with an amazing sweet-sour peanut chutney. The Thalipeeth was thin & crisp, luckily not chewy which is the usual mistake when it's made. The thalipeeth had a nice texture and was crispy as well as the chutney gives a interesting twist to it.One of the best chutneys had in recent days. Must try their chutney.. It was too good.. Just love it!!
5. Chicken Thikaat Fry:- 4.7/5
A spicy version of chicken sukha.. This is mainly a gavran chicken serve in Maharashtrain region Specially known for it's spicy taste and quality.. The chicken was extremely tender & marinated well.. Flavors were perfectly mixed and very tempting and mouth watering.. It was just little spicy according to my palatte.. A person who loves spicy food they must order it.. You would truly love the work with all the masala and the meat that is complimenting it.. Overall tasted really great...
Mains:
1. Gavran Solapuri Chicken Handi with Bhakri:- 4.6/5
We had this Solapuri Chicken with Rice bhakri and Jowri bhakri.. The taste was fabulous.. Huge chicken pieces, medium spicy & perfectly cooked.. It does have very authentic taste to it.. Really goes perfect with those bhakri.. Just try it!!
2. Chicken biryani:- 4.8/5
Biryani was really amazing.. The masala seasoning served with the biryani made it much more tastier.. Served with the raita mix! Must say about the quantity! Can easily serve 2 people.. Huge pieces of chicken along with the spices in rice just made my day.. The biryani aroma was totally felt, one of the best.. You will be truly satisfied and amused too...
Dessert:
Kharwas:- 4.5/5
For desserts we ordred kharwas which was prepared by steaming a mix of colostrum, milk, and jaggery or sugar until it coagulates into a jiggling solid.. Cardamom, saffron, nutmeg or sesame is added for flavoring.. It is very similar to the very own taste from home made by our mother.. must-try sweet dish..
Service
The service of this place is really prompt.. The staff speaks Marathi.. Absolutely hygienic.. The outlet was very neat and clean.. The presentation of the food is amazing.. +1 for Courteous & helpful staff..
So overall everything we tried here had very authentic Maharashtrian flavour to it.. You would feel as if you are eating something cooked at home.. Quality of food & taste is too good.. Fresh and tasty every bite.. The ambience is nice and cozy.. So if you are craving for some really delicious Maharashtrian food from fasting food to some really amazing non vegetarian food, you should definitely try this place.. Highly recommended!!

Especially Mr. Pramod Patil from Jivhala has always help us in booking table, suggesting proper menu with appropriate quantity, he is always a great help. They have extensive Veg. as well as Non-Veg. menu. Fish served is always fresh & very tasty. Always we get a homely taste. We have visited Jivhala 4 to 5 times and whatever preparations we tasted we just perfect. I liked their, Solkadhi, Kharvas, Khandeshi Vanga Bharit, Bhakri and Bombil fry, Kolambi fry, Zunka . All the best to Jivhala & keep adding more Maharashtrian delicacies.
Jivhala
One of the best authentic Maharashtrian restaurants I ever visited. Lived this restaurant Not only for the food but the way they have presented the Maharashtrian culture with their interiors. Food wise they got all the
Maharashtrian dishes you crave for.
Located on western express highway, just next to thakur complex signal.
Ambience won my heart. Being Maharashtrian I could relate each corner of the interiors with Maharashtra culture and tradition. They have segregated names of their seating sections in traditional Maharashtrian style. As you go on first floor towards AC section, you can see the awards they won on one side, then you can see photo frames with traditional Maharashtrian cuisine. They got frames of saints of Maharashtra which gives such a wow feel.
Seating is really comfortable and the dinning area again got really wow interiors done. The restaurant gives a feel like a traditional old Maharashtrian wada (Home).
Menu has got very lot many Maharashtrian dishes. Their main focus is on the solupar side Maharashtrian food. We started with kokum sarbat and sol kadhi as a welcome drink.
Drumsticks soup – Soup made from Shevgyachya shenga, a tempering of cumin was given and the consistency was good too.
Sabudana vada – A perfect sabudana vada you can enjoy. Crisp and flavorsome.
Chicken Tikhat – A spicy version of chicken sukha. Chicken with bone pieces tossed in onion masala with good amount of spceness in it. A person who loves spicy food they must order it.
Solapur mutton sukha- Mutton sukha cooked in solapuri style, was mid spicy and mutton was cooked very well.
Surmai Thali – Surmai thali included big piece of surmai rawa fry, surmai curry which had surmai piece , surmaii rassa, rice, chapati/bhakari and sol kadhi. Surmai fry was really very good, marinated well and seasoned well too. The portion was huge and it was really hard for me to finish it off.
Kharwas- For desserts we ordred kharwas which was made from jaggery.
Gajar halwa – Being season of Gajar, it was home made gajar halwa which we loved it.

107th Restaurant to be rated a complete 5on5 by me.
Jivhala is located on western express highway in Kandivali and its easy to locate.
The restaurant is made in a bungalow hence it gives a nice homely feel. They have outdoor seatings and first floor AC seatings available. The moment you enter they have kept frames of all the awards which they have won for their excellent food. Ambiance wise not too much added still feels great as they have added small elements to give the Maharshtrian feel. I personally loved the Vitthal palki made with small dolls as it looks cute and amazing.
They specialise in Maharashtrian cuisine and they are definable a master in it. They use local spices and chicken used here is from the village and you actually feel the difference when you eat it. Apart from that they have North Indian as well. Loved the choices in dishes as options available are great for both vegetarians and non vegetarians. Prices are not too high and the quantity served is perfect.
I went here for lunch and the kitchen service was great as the dishes came on time and table service by Staff Sharad Patil was perfect as he was attentive and proactive.
What We Had -
APPETIZERS~
Lemon Coriander Soup -
Thin broth with nice amount of coriander and garlic and little lemon tasted great. Loved the flavours as it didn't had strong flavours of any ingredients.
AluWadi & Kothimbir Wadi -
Both the wadis were outstanding. Not too oily and loved the crispiness in them.
Sabudana Wada -
One of the best sabudana wada I have had in recent times. The sabudana were not too hard and it had good amount of chillies, onions and groundnut. The chutney served along was delicious.
Bhajaniche Thalipith -
Similar to pancake. This is made with bhajanee flour along with spices added. It tasted great as loved the light flavours of every ingredient in it and again the red chilli groundnut chutney served along tasted superb.
Chicken Tikhat Fry (Gavran) -
Chicken with bone made with red chillies and onion based thick marination tasted spicy but good. The speciality of the chicken here is, it has less meat and more bone however taste wise it is more tender and juicy. Loved the bold flavours here but after some time the heat was too much for us.
MAINS~
Chicken Handi (Gavran) -
Gravy made with chillies, onion and tomatoes tasted perfect. Not too much of spices used but the taste was brilliant.
DESSERTS~
Gajar Halwa -
One of the perfect version of carrot halwa. Not too sweet and loaded with nuts and ghee.
Beverages~
Solkadi & Kokam Sharbat -
Both tasted outstanding and refreshing.
So the meal at Jivhala was excellent as loved the food, the ambiance is great and the service was excellent. Therefore I highly recommend this place.
The atmosphere is charming. Warm and welcoming surroundings. The choice of food is lovely,
The cooking of every element was impeccable, and the price was very reasonable.
This place is one of the oldest places that serves Maharashtrian cuisine. This is located near the Western Express Highway. The interior is mind blowing. You’ll definitely experience a traditional Maharashtrian taste. We were served by Mr. Pramod Patil, he was very genuine and punctual with his duties.
Must try: Drumstick Soup, Thalipeeth, Misal Pav, Veg Biryani and Gajar ka Halwa

Must try- Misal Pav, Thal Peeth, Drumstick Soup, Pitla Bhakar, Kothambir Wadi, Gajar Halwa and other signature dishes
Jivhala offers a lot of great dishes from the Maharashtrian Cuisine. It is located near thakur complex. I tried a lot of vegetarian dishes.
Starting with Kothambir wadi, the crisp will make one fall in love with it. Sabudana wade with the chutney had a pure authentic taste. Thal Peeth was medium spicy with a special chutney served along with it. Pitla bhakar is a must-try-dish here; medium spicy, the pitla is perfect balance of ingredients and spices while the bhakar is art, soft to touch and yummy in taste. The misal pav served is very similar to the original taste back from internals of maharashtra, spicy but giving oneself cravings. Other dishes I tried includes the punjabi dish Veg Kolhapur, which has a maharashtrian taste to it and biryani.
Butter Milk and Mattha served leave their footprints on the taste buds and are crafted from perfect curd. Gajar Halwa is must-try sweet dish. It is very similar to the very own taste from home made by our mother. The Drumstick soup is very tasty.
The ambiance here is excellent. The place is huge, containing all that makes it look Maharashtrian. The lights are in perfect sync with the instrumental music. There's indoor as well as outdoor sitting available.
Authentic NON-VEG dishes is the specialty of this restaurant. Large menu is available for the same.
Overall, the quantity and quality of all the dishes here is great. A great place to have family dinner.
Located on the Western Express Highway Jivhala Restaurant is a hidden gem.
Ambiance: It's simple, and classy. It gives the fine dine feeling with a homely touch. The decor is simple and yet I fell in love with it. The old vessels, and the tiny figurines adorning the wall give it such a homely touch. Oh and their menu card is wood carved menu.
Service: It's quick and best part even the staff speak Marathi. To me that definitely is a +1for them.
Food:
(Note: Some of the dishes I've clicked mid way through eating 🙈 so forgive me.)
We started of with the super delicious drumstick soup. That's a must try if you visit the place.
• Kothimbir wadi: Tiny discs that don't look like Kothimbir wadi but tastes like it. Crisp, crunchy yet melt in the mouth.
• Alu wadi: Now that was tad bit disappointing. It lacked the typical Maharashtrian touch. But somehow I still liked the way it was prepared I could taste the Alu and the layer of filling.
• Sabudana wada: Picture perfect, crisp, crunchy, slightly less on salt and flavour but that's made up by the amazing chutney.
•Gavran chicken thali: One of the most delicious delicious gavran chicken thali. Super soft, beautifully cooked, mouth melting chicken. Ah, after ages I've had something so soul full. The thali consisted of the soup, chicken sukka, curry, bhakri, rice, Sol kadi. A definite must try as per me.
• Prawn thali: A thali with sukka, curry, Sol kadi, rice and bhakri.
Desserts included the seasons special gajar halwa and kharvas😍
Best part: You can customise your meals according to your taste buds

Jivhala is a beautiful & cosy restaurant which serves authentic Maharashtrian delicacies. They have brought these traditional Maharashtrian foods into the fine dining avatar. If one wants to discover & relish the flavours of authentic Maharashtrian style food, head here & I am sure Jivhala won't disappoint. They offer both Veg & Non Veg items in their menu.
Taste 5.0/5.0
Kokum Sherbet
A glass of Kokum Sherbet is a must with a Maharashtrian meal helps curb acidity if any. Also they served a balanced version of Kokum Sherbet neither concentrated nor diluted, it was absolutely perfect.
Drumstick Soup ❤️
This was my first time I tried Drumstick soup & I fell in love with it. Since I had a sore throat it worked fine with me. It had drumstick pulp which was given a tadka of jeera & a dash of coriander. The whole jeera adds a nice touch, on the other side it was tad bit salty for me. Even then it's highly recommended to try this soup out.
Alu Wadi
A traditional item which is made of rolled colocasia leaves & besan. It was crisp to perfection & bite sized making it perfect to eat in one go.
Kothimbir wadi
These looked like the Methi Muthias & were bite sized. The amount of Kothimbir in the wadi was to the point & lend the dish a wonderful fresh herby taste.
Sabudana Wada
I am used to fluffy Sabudana Wadas this was more like a tikki. It's served with peanut chutney which elevated the flavours of sabudana wada. Loved it.
Bhajnechi Thalipeeth
The Thalipeeth was thin & crisp, luckily not chewy which is the usual mistake when it's made. Served hot with red garlicky chutney it was awesome.
Pithla Bhakri Combo
This was a stunning platter with Pithla, Bhakri, taak & thecha. Bhakri had the perfect texture & the tadka in the Pithla gave it a nice garlic flavour. Try a pinch of Thecha with Bhakri, it was super spicy & rightfully balanced with Taak.
Veg Kolhapuri
The veggies were tossed in red spicy gravy & topped with dried red chillies. It was superb accompaniment with Bhakri.
Veg Biryani
The rice was cooked to perfection & presented well with raita. It was a little spicy for me but the raita gave much relief to my palate.
Gajar Ka Halwa
This cannot be missed in winters. A bowlful of hot gajar Halwa was a hit. The flavours were balanced & hint of elaichi enhanced the flavours
Ambience 5.0/5.0
Lovely seating space on the 1st floor, the 'Maharashtrian'ess of it is totally seen in the decor. Background of Paithani saree, miniatures of Vithala & Varkari, wooden windows & brass utensils makes it a cozy place to eat & understand Maharashtrian culture.
Service 5.0/5.0
Courteous & helpful staff. Absolutely hygienic.
Value for money 5.0/5.0
Quality of food & taste is too good. Definitely its in a fine dine set up so do expect the price to be greater than the local stalls of Maharashtrian food. The prices are reasonable & is absolutely value for money.
If you're searching for amazing and authentic maharashtrian delicacies, you should give this lovely place a visit. It is worth every penny you spend.

If you are looking to relish authentic maharashtrian food then this the right place to savour your taste buds because it has got you covered from veg to non-veg. It’s rare that food fills your heart and stomach, this one such place that does both. If you like spicy just tell the guy taking the order and you won’t be disappointed. What you would enjoy is the homely feeling they give when you ask for suggestion where they explain you why you should try that. This is must visit place if you are a food love and like trying out different cuisines or if you are a maharashtrian then you would go gaga over the menu. Apart from the authentic maharashtrian food it has North Indian items to give you a tweak to the palate but in my opinion enjoy the maharashtrian cuisine because that’s worth exploring.
Gift your taste buds amazing food from Jivhala... From starters to the desserts... Every menu item will make you want more...
I tried the Chicken sukha fry with Rice Bhakri / Thalipeeth / Kothimbhir wade / Batata vada / Taak & some Drumstick soup... Each and every dish had its own very unique taste and texture..... The Kothimbhir wade was nice and crispy and goes well with the Drumstick Soup... Thalipeeth was amazing with an interesting twist in the chutney they served it with... And the Chicken Sukha Fry was simply lip smacking and you would truly love the work with all the masala and the meat that is complimenting it...
You would feel as if you are eating something cooked at home... Fresh and tasty every bite.... The ambience is nice and cozy... With a lot of cues from the local Maharashtrian art and architecture... They have humble staff and prompt service...
A must try for all the food lovers and explorers out there... This is hands down the best you could get in the vicinity...
It's surreal when I get the exact food that I go looking for during treks just 15 mins from my house... This restaurant is now like my dream come true. Let's directly jump to the food reviews because they are that good!!
* Drumstick soup: What's better than a light piping hot soup in the Mumbai winter weather?. I don't eat healthy food consciously. But if healthy tastes this good sign me up for it!
*Thalipeet with shengdanyachi chutney: Now I know you'll say what's so special about this but I'll tell you exactly what is.. the thalipeet is made with 9 grains and the co-owner Riddhi Oza makes the atta herself. So go down there and try it to know what's special!
*Dadpe pohe: The word Dadpe in Marathi means inside a closed lid. So the unique thing about this poha is that no cooking is involved. Despite that it's a beautiful blend of tangy sweet and spicy. This is a must try because not many places in Mumbai serve this
*Kothimbir vadi: Everytime someone says this all I can think of is square shaped cakey looking vadis but what got put in front of my plate was quite the opposite. For once I could actually taste more of Kothimbir and less of besan!! Kudos!!
*Paneer Pahadi: So despite being known for their Maharashtrian cuisine they do serve North indian dishes and this one's super tasty considering you can handle spicy! I thought I could but I teared up in 2 mins so ask them to adjust the spice and they'll do so with a smile
*Chicken thika fry, Tandhlachi bhakri: For main course I decided to have Bhakri because I don't get to eat that at home. When you get soft bhakris with tup and amazing chicken thika fry you'll get a warm feeling that you get after having home cooked food.
*Gajar halwa: Ha!! The favourite part of my meal is the dessert and after I ordered it all I thought of was. Please please God let there be enough ghee in it to feel like I had dessert but not too much that I feel guilty of having it!. And I was granted my wish. The gajar halwa was tasty light and and amazing way to end my meal
All thanks to Riddhi and her staff for having me there. I had a lovely experience the decor and the food reminds you of how rich Maharashtrian culture is!!
From the time they have shifted to new location upvas items are not available like farali misal, farali thalipith, only sabudana khicdi available, being a mahastrian outlet they can keep these items, farali thali which can have various upvas items like other Marathi restaurants.. please focus on Marathi food..
Guys must visit... This days we frgt what we have eaten in western restro.. But eating this authentic Maharashtraian food will make you remember for a long time... Food is too good.. Too tasty.. Awesome.. Must visit.. 5 start
Have order several time from here..I liked it..need little more improvement in taste..I don't say it taste bad..I liked your taste..By I wanted to love it..little improvement
Ordered PITHLA- BHAKRI AND THECHA COMBO with extra bhakris.
The pithla wasn’t spicy but very flavourful and tasty. Cleverly prepared dish. The spiciness can be modified by thecha- green chillies crushed kind of spicy chutney. So spiciness wasn’t an issue.
The jowar bhakris were big enough and soft. Provided with sliced onions and lemon.
Overall, a great complete meal which I enjoyed.
Packaging was also neat and the brownie point was the on time delivery! Liked it.
If you have been hunting for the best Misal in Mumbai, your search clearly ends here. For a person who swears by misal pav and judges people who dislike it, the misal here came as a sweet surprise. Their tari was perfect- spicy and just like how tari is supposed to be. Do not miss their sabudana vadas, because they are amazing! Trust me, when a non-sabudana vada lover says that! We also called for thalipeeth which was great, just that I missed my "Loni" with it. This place came as a total surprise, because its a Gujarati area, but it beats the so-called amazing misal restaurants of Dadar! Waiting to go back here again
It was suggested by my friend who is not at all that fond of Maharashtrian food but he had been recommended strongly by some of his neighbour staying in Thakur complex. We ventured this place for dinner to try something different, although I am Maharashtrian it's a daily food for me but I was excited to try some recipes from rest of Maharashtra,
What we ordered
1) Thalipeet - 5/5
2) zunka bhakari 3.5/5
3) sukha sev shaji 4/5
4) Kharvas 5/5
Although I have Marathi food on a daily basis the taste of the food here is different. This is something not only non Maharashtrian will like but also the veg loving Maharashtrian will love it.
Ambiance 2.5/5
Hospitality 1.5/5
(Special mention here of as the menu had lot of variety so I asked the person taking out order to suggest us something that we should try in your restaurant but he was not very convincing so I saw that the owner/manager of the place was sitting just behind our table so I requested the person taking our order to ask his owner/manager to suggest us something good but to our surprise the owner/manger did not bother to get up and conveyed the person taking our order some random dish from the menu which I found to be utterly inhospitable.
I expect the restaurants to be involved with the customer and give suggestions when asked for.
Over all a great discovery and definitely worth trying.
I am a regular customer (delivery).
The food is generally good.
The chai, poha and daal khichdi are 👌.
The upma is made very differently and the consistency is weird. Avoid.
Delivery prompt. VFM.
अस्सल महाराष्ट्रीयन जेवण!
Must try and very neat place for quick breakfast and food.
I would recommend everyone to try and enjoy the maharashtrian diet
I am a huge fan of Maharashtrian cuisine. Although I always hear that Maharashtrian cuisine is all about non-veg, being a vegetarian I can vouch that there are so many vegetarian varied and delicious options this cuisine has to offer, without even fully being aware yet myself of all the options.
Recently tried some dishes here - Dadhpe Pohe! Have tried several variants of Pohas from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar but didn't know soaked uncooked Poha could be made so delicious! Dadhpe Pohe is uncooked with raw onions, coriander, graded coconut and some sugar & salt. Some curry leaves and mustard is tempered in hot oil which is added to it. Trust me sounds quite simple but tastes heavenly. I highly recommend this one.
Misal Pav - The tari in Misal Pav usually plays the trick I believe. If it's made well most likely the dish wouldn't go wrong and the one I had here was just perfect! Not too watery and not too dry. A little on the spicier side but that's how it's suppose to be. Isn't it? I wish to visit the place soon and try out a lot more on the menu. I don't think there are many Maharashtrian speciality restaurants around northern suburbs and this one absolutely rocks!
Overall - Prices look very reasonable, looks very hygienic and quite authentic. Highly recommended!
Delicious, authentic Maharashtrian food! Their Dadpe pohe is to die for. So simple and delicious! Other must try dishes are phodnichi bhakari and thalipeeth. Tastes just like home cooked food. Have ordered from here quite a few times and will continue to do so. Highly recommended!
Quality and Quantity satisfactory.
I heard a lot about this restaurant famous for their Maharashtrian Dishes but reviews on zomato made me confuse. So,not interested in wasting my money I played safe game and ordered their famous Black pav bhaji. properly smashed veggies, loaded with butter and Spicy in taste. I will definitely try more dishes from here.
delicious. kali pav bhaji. taste is very much different and nice from regular pav bhaji
Delicious food. Prompt service. I order food regularly from here. They have a good place for eat in as well.
I suggest portion size can be increased little bit.
excellent food slow delivery
If you haven't visited jivhala & call yourself a foodie..then you have missed on a very awesome thing in your life. Don't miss out on Misal pav, Dadpe pohe & complete a-la-carte. Have tried each & every item in the menu.
Best maharashtrian food..really loved Vada pav & sabudana khichdi. Will surely come back again! Also don't miss out on pithla bhakri thecha & bharli vangi
Fabulous food, fantastic on taste buds, superb ownership and friendly staff.
absolute worth the money and justified names to the dishes (means if we order a phodnichi poli we actually get an item which can be called phodnichi poli unlike the ones served in other restaurants where a crushed roti with sugar is served as phodnichi poli)
classic place to order food from
Pleasantly surprised. Loved the taste. We tried this place with a lot apprehensions. We ordered sandwich masala pav. It was yummy to say the least and very unique with its coriander chutney. just loved the food. Can’t wait to try out the rest of the things.
food was totally khandeshi type. ossam taste and eat first time in mumbai. my khandesh jevan
order received not on time
A joyful experience for a couple, an extatic feeling for family, finger licking good food at a price which is unbelievable!!! They serve you exactly what they promise, home cooked maharashtrian food 😀

Initially we had got a platter of kothimbirvadi and aluvadi which was so tasty we wanted more. Then we had chicken tikhat dry which had huge number of pieces in sufficient quantity.
In the maincourse,we had chicken malwani masala with chapati and bhakari. We got a remembrance of how we eat at our homes. Also we tried the chicken biryani served with raita which was super relishing and tasty.
Then in the dessert we had amrakhand of chitale original. And also gajar halwa was relishing.

We had a great time visiting this place since it has Maharashtrian taste and fragrance.Ambience is decorated with shield and musical instruments.Even the dishes are played on screen.
We were given 2 soups one was drumstick and other was chicken soup. Both were flawless and amazing.
The comfort of shiny steel plates and a clean and simple surrounding with a touch of homely vibes surely do say it with all pride that you are in for a regional delight. Jivhala, The Maharashtrian Kitchen efficiently manages to bring to life the delight and soulfulness of typical Maharashtrian dishes and defines what it truly is to go Maharastrian. We recently visited them to get a taste of ethnic Marathi cuisine and we were thoroughly impressed.
To start with, we treated ourselves with the Limbu Sarbat as well as the Kokam Sarbat. It would not seem appropriate to try out a Maharashtrian meal without these two. The limbu sharbat was decent but the sourness could be toned down a bit. The kokam sharbat on the other hand was extremely refreshing and flavourful.
Next up was another lip-smacking favourite, the Mumbaikar's meal, the Misal Pav. This one was spicy and subtle in all the required places. The flavours blended in unison and created a wonderful and perfectly spicy blend of tastes. The lentils and the rassa were amazing together. Overall, it was really good.
Next one was the Cheese Vada Pav. Unlike the usual ones where it’s just a cheese slice over the wadas, they integrated the cheese into their stuffing. The spice of wada and the gooey cheese blended well and created a fitting of flavours and gooey-ness. Served with chutney, it was perfectly in sync with a true Mumbaikar’s taste.
Next one was a speciality, the Bhajaniche Thalipeeth. It was made up of 7 different flours and served with an amazing sweet-sour chutney. The thalipeeth had a nice texture and was crispy as well as the chutney had the zingy touch to it.
We tried yet another speciality, the Mulberry Mastani. Now, this one was something. The raw flavor of mulberries and a chilling cold creamy taste of mastani was enough to give this summer heat, a beat. The mastani is a famous drink in Pune and they are probably one of the rare ones serving it in Mumbai.
They have even given a Maharashtrian twist to the Firangi sandwich with a hint of Mumbai. The Sandwich Masala Pav was basically a stack of veggies placed between regular pav and topped with lots of masala coriander was their version of masala pav. It tasted pretty good and definitely something you would munch upon in a quick mode.
The cheese pav bhaji toast was a simple dish. Spicy pav bhaji served on a slightly toasted bread and topped with loads of cheese. This one was well put up and had a great taste too.
Next was the Shengdana Gul Podi. Unlike our usual puranpoli, it was made with a mixture of jaggery with crushed peanuts. The mixture gave it sort of a crunch and kept the texture of puranpoli intact.
The Sabudana Wada, is definitely something you wouldn't want to miss on your visit down here. Crunchy and soft, at the same time, it was served with spicy green chutney. It was delicious and had a load of bursting flavours in it.
Our meal ended with Gajar ka Halwa. Traditional and simple, this dish can win over hearts. Well, it did the same with us too. Not only was the taste perfect, but even the quantity of ghee was proper. We absolutely loved it.
The place spells home and so do their dishes. If you are looking forward to get back in touch with your Maharashtrian self then this one will be one of those places who will definitely do the job for you.

Craving for authentic maharashtrian cuisine then here you are and you won’t be disappointed. This place is cozy outlet with amazing variety to offer. The most warming thing is the service they provide by suggesting varieties as per the personal preference. What you should try in here :
Kothambir vadi : this is must try starter in the maharashtrian cuisine
Thalipeeth : This is a healthier snack option but it doesn’t compromise on the taste.
Chicken thikaat fry accompanied with jowar or rice bhakri : one of the best combination you can try
Drumstick soup : this is quiet a taste bud changer if you are generally used to having the normal soups available around
For the price it offers the most satisfactory experience and food is amazing. It’s a worth visit if you would want to try out some amazing maharashtrian food.
Jivhala restaurant is run by a Maharashtrain family and serves authentic homely Maharashtrain food, their family Recipes along with mix of other cuisines.
I tried a few dishes here on the weekend.
Homely Bhakri And Pitla With Bomb Thecha!
Really good and quite authentic.
Spicy Sholapur style misal which was really good.
9 grain shallow fried thalipith which was served with a peanut sauce and was soft and crisp at the same time. The grains are roasted by the owner herself.
Batata wada.. crisp and garlicky..just how I like it. Yum.
Kothimbir wadi... Very different from the rest. More coriander less besan. Super crisp and delicious.
Gajar Halwa.. not very sweet.. loved it.
Solkadhi and the masala chaas were good. A little spicy for me but were good.
Overall a good place with good food.

This is a nice and cosy restaurant with a Maharashtrian theme woven around the set up and of course the food. This restaurant is also known as Royal Konkan. The food is both veg and nonveg. The taste is good and yummy. Maybe the pricing could be about 5-10% cheap. The chicken koliwada was well made as was the pomfret preparation - both fry and curry. Service is cheerful and you are served with a welcome drink - a shot of kokum juice. The food takes a while to come initially, so this is one of those restaurants you go to for lazy evening conversations, not if you're in a hurry for a quick meal. Don't forget to have the milk kokum.
I wanted to visit this place since a long time.
Being a Maharashtrian I was excited about this place.
Last night I got a chance to go visit, and let me tell you. This place did not let me down!
The staff is friendly, they greet you with a smile. (small things matter)
The food is on point! I tried Pitla Chapati ani Thecha as they were out of Bhakris, Full Thali and Piyush!
The taste is amazing and it is pocket friendly!
A must visit and five stars from me.
Awesome food and ambience , must to go place . Staff members are very friendly and will help you with every single stuff
Yumieee..food....taste like Royal marathi food....wnt to like eat traditional food ...come here....you will never go without giving them feedback
Mast marathmola jewan.. Uttam chav.. Vegeterian sathi apratim. Jivhala name suits this place.. Aaichya haathcha jewan ani te sudha in affordable prices with proper ambiance
We had ordered Kaju Misal, stuffed brinjal and mix flour bhakari for lunch. All the items were superb in taste and yummy. The staff was polite and helped us with all our requests.
We had a verg good experience. Would definitely recommend this place for its food and service.
The Maharastrian style sea-food cuisine experience & the well known Thali is right here...fresh fish used with option to choose a heavy bhakri (it was filling!)or regular roti. Although I found the curry extra spicy for my taste and had I known I couldve asked to make some amendments in the preparation. Nevertheless spicy food works for most ppl. The place is right on the highway to stop by, is hygienic and well maintained with cool decor and AC section above.
Never been a fan of maharashtrian food but this place truely changed my views. Felt like home cooked food. Perfect for understanding authentic Marathi food. The staffs are very attentive and courteous. The price is also economical although its bit on higher side.
The only thing this place lacks is a washroom. Its a basic necessity which should be provided.
Simple things are always the best things! Simple authentic Maharashtrian food never tasted so good.Merely at the cost of Rs. 180 I ate 2 dishes and a sweet dish. Nowadays you end up paying double of this amount as GST.This place is definitely a value for money place.
