we like rajasthani rotla.
it’s awesome with full protin
Due to hectic schedule didn't got time to cook. So while coming from office ordered Kalpana. They serves south Indian, north Indian, Chinese, fast food. They serves really delicious food.
Enjoyed the Kalpana's Special Thali. It was really delicious. There was a great variety of vegetarian dishes to eat. The ambience was great in the AC room. Value for money, especially for this speciality was good. The guy managing the AC room was very polite. Would definitely rate this place a good place to eat and would visit again some day.
This is one of the restaurants heavily crowded around Mumbai central station. Even though there are many competing restaurants Kalpana seems to been doing good for itself. It is a very old place and reasonably priced.
Kalpana is in Mumbai central opposite nathani heights. Ambience is quite good and awesome. I have gone with my family and it was awesome experience. Food was yummy and tasty.
Were in Mumbai Central area...and went for an unplanned dinner to Kalapana's...
Must say...It was really good!
We tried their special thali... the portion was enough for two...and the taste was amazing...
They have both ac and non ac seating arrangements...
Service is very fast...
Enjoyed the dinner...
Intend to visit again when in the locality...
Kalpana
This outlet is located near Mumbai central and is at walking distance from the railway station.
Have been here many times for family dinner and food is really good. North indian menu is quite impressive
Would recommend to try dal tadka anyday!!
Ambience is decent and there are two sections A/c and non A/c. Seatings are well organized and very much restful.
Recommendations-
Kalpana spl veg, paneer tikka masala, dal tadka
This Restaurant is near Mumbai Central Railway Station and Maratha Mandir Theatre. Serves the best South Indian and Punjabi Dishes. Punjabi Thali which is the specialty of this Restaurant is fabulous. Service and ambiance are good. Overall Reasonable and fulfilling meals.
It has to be said that this place is so good when it comes to the cocktail. It had the perfect ratio of alcohol and fruit juice. It's a great place to hang out with friends with a couple of cocktails.
The Best!
I visited this place, two days ago and let me tell you everything was brilliant.
We ordered Paneer mutter, Chole Masala and mix veg along with chapatis. The food was amazing, hot and sizzling!
The service was also absolutely amazing and it was the first time I had come across such good services.
The ambiance was great too.
I must say, if you are ever on Mumbai Central, do visit the place.
Kalpana holds a very special place in my heart. It has always been our goto family place. Absolutely love the south indian delicacies served here. Try the Gujarati thali as well. A decent place which will not make a hole in your pockets. Weekends are crowded and you will have to wait

Been to this restaurant many times..the ambience is very good .it has both ac and non AC section.i usually have paneer dishesh like paneer masala, palak paneer paneer kofta, etc.every dish tastes good.hydrabadi pulao is also very tasty..
Food taste is very good, masala dosa, schezwan fried rice but quantity for fried rice is less. only veg food. the ambiance was good but continues phone ringing sound is irritating for non ac setting place because sometimes no people of restaurant to bother to pick phone calls so continues phone rings,
Low-key joint with reasonable and fulfilling meals, best place for vegetarians who want to have veg Thalis as they provide a number of different types of them, the pav bhaji, masala dosa other fast foods are also tasty. This place is near the Mumbai Central station which is great for the travelers who want a quick meal.
Nice place nearby Mumbai central station. Good food and service is very subtle. Lots of options available there for South Indian and Punjabi food none will disappoint. Must try if going via Mumbai central station.

price is reasonable.
In this area of Mumbai Central, I had been visiting to Annaveela and Shagun since quite a long time but made my visit to kalpana for the first time.
I was super impressed with their quick and super fast service on Sunday night though the AC hall is small but food was damn too tasty.
Each and every dish I tried was lip-smacking and delicious.

A very renowned hotel in the area. Food is too good. I have been visiting this hotel for the past .... maybe 15 odd years. The only thing which has changed is the price... quality and taste is the same...too good.
We visited this place on last Sunday while visiting the Maratha Mandir Cinema as this place is very near to it.
We ordered Onion Rava Dosa and Onion Uttappam, both were very tasty and perfectly cooked. We also ordered the filter coffee and having average taste.
This is also a pocket friendly place to have a decent meal. We will visit this place again in future.
This place is 5 mins away from Mumbai Central station, this place is generally crowded and has lots of customers. I generally prefer south Indian food from this place. My favorite pick from this place is paper masala dosa, idli, medu vada and Puri bhaji. The service is also fast and would definitely recommend this place
Kalpana has always been an all time favourite since childhood. The food is awesome and the service is all excellent. Kalpana's food can never disappoint you. Its one of the best vegetarian restaurant in Mumbai Central as it serves good quality food with affordable prices
Service is nice! Ok ok restau! Great Punjabi food! Steam idli was the best I had here. Well everything is good, its a family restau, located near the station.
Have been to this place on and off for the last 20 years. It's a decent restaurant unlike many you will find near a major railways station. The food is clean and neat. The staff is courteous. The food is tasty and affordable. Try the puri bhaji and sheera in the mornings and try the thali at meal times. They have a very fresh mint chuteny. Do ask for it. Parking ka a huge problem especially with the metro work going around the vicinity.

One of the very old restaurants in Mumbai Central which is very famous for serving South Indian Varieties. So here we were to savor it's Dosa's , Idli and Mendu Vada on a Wednesday afternoon Lunch.
Ambience :
Lunch time is quite busy in this restaurant as it is very near to the Mumbai Central Main Line Station. The place as A/C as well as Non A/C seatings with some difference in rates of dishes .
Here is what we enjoyed out here :
Idli , Mendu Vada with Sambhar and Chatni
Soft Idli and Crisp Mendu With scrumptious Sambhar made a great appetizing start for our Lunch at the venue. Mendu Vada was a bit oily but the taste was great .
Ghee Masala Dosa :
This is the best dish on that menu so make sure you don't miss out on it . Crisp Dosa made in special ghee went amazingly well with luscious Masala and Sambhar . Always prefer ghee over butter because butter will make your Dosa Salty and Ghee will add to the flavor of Dosa batter .
Ghee Onion Rawa Masala Dosa :
This was crisp and mingles great with chrunchy onion pieces within it .
Thanks for reading our Short review for one of the old and famous outlet in Mumbai .

Happy Fooding until next time........
Hotel near Mumbai central station, Try for Punjabi Food. simple budgeted hotel. Try for veg Makanwala. South indian dishes is also worth to try

Will be visiting whenever in the vicinity.
We had lunch here after watching DDLJ.
They had open dining area and inside an AC hall where they serve alcohol.
We ordered rawa masala dosa , plain idli and later a plate butter paav bhaji.
Rawa dosa was different from dosa we had at other place in a good way. Sambhar was on a sweeter side but tasty. They made fresh idli on order so it was very soft and hot.
We liked both dishes so ordered pav bhaji but it was not so good. Paav were like dipped in pot of butter/oil and bhaji was very blend and tasteless.
It’s located just 5 mins from the Mumbai central stn. & serves north & south indian food.
My fav here is undoubtedly their crispy, huge, rava masala dosa!
Also they have very reasonable thalis.
On my recent visit I tried their veg pizza, which or more or less like a home made pizza, good one.
Service gets slow at times but they’ve got a good courteous manager!
Place is divided into two; ac & non ac
Decent decor
good for normal food
All tym favourite love
paneer tikka masala is must with butter naan
the jelly ice-cream is a must try 😍
Kalpana is a good veg restaurant that offers a variety of veg dishes. I always go there when I'm in Mumbai to eat their masala dosa which is very nice. I recommend you to try it if you visit kalpana
Restaurant is quite reasonable considering the prime location at which it is. Parking is definitely an issue here, better to go by a cab.
A/c lounge is small in area for around 4 medium size families.
Food is of good quality. Quantity per dish is quite reasonable. Do confirm with waiter before ordering in terms of no. of persons vis-a-vis quantum of order required considering reasonable quantum per dish.
As a case, 7 of us went and with medium appetite for all of us 2 dals + 2 veg subzi with around 30 pieces chapatis was all dat was required.
Service was decent. Having chapati is one of the high points of this restaurant.
Place to be always crowded , excellent South Indian food , ppl go to Matunga for South Indian food to eat but I prefer Kalpana excellent sambhar & chaṭṭani , other dishes are also d best May ut be north Indian or pav bhaji like something, worth u r single penny u use … Dhammal
It is my regular breakfast destination whenever i visit Mumbai. Located just opposite to railway station. Place is nice, clean and tidy place. Service is quick. I have tried mysore dosa, uttapam and puri bhaji in frequent visits. Their tea and coffee also quite good. food is quite good and decent, south indian dishes are very authentic. Keep it up.
Pros: Food is amazing, especially the dosas and breakfast items. The value for money is also great, you can have a fulfilling meal for two in around Rs. 500.
Now about the cons, The service here is really bad, the waiters don't know how to talk to you, over the phone or in person, the ambience isn't great either because it is surrounded by these bars and it gets very unsafe to be roaming around this place in the evening.
All-time favourites breakfast items:1. Paper sada dosa2. Idli
3. Rava Sada dosa
One of the place which is available for all de people who needs to go out or depart from mumbai central railway
Veg n non veg are both available
Normally in veg specially kalpana thali and in desert u need to order choclate or pineapple sheera
Delish food at reasonable prices...Prices so low any common man can afford it...
The taste was surprisingly good...Been here a couple of times...
1st in the favourites would be :- Paneer biryaani...Even at such low prices they don't compromise on the quality & quantity...Unlike many biryani walas they did put good no. Large paneer pieces...
2nd is pav Bhaji...YESS...I'm a pav Bhaji lover...N this place didn't disappoint me at all...
3rd...Veg Biryani....They had put ghee in it....It was yum...But heavy..
4th....Rava Masala Dosa was yummm
THE ABOVE MENTIONED ARE WORTH A TRY...

Located at 5-10mins of distance from the Mumbai Central local station, went there for breakfast and tried their south Indian food. The dosas were really good. The idli was upto mark. Also ordered samosa which don't think was their expertise. However it was very well served.

A decent, reasonable place for grabbing some quick South Indian breakfast on the go. Situated very close to Mumbai Central Station, this place is the first place we thought of in the morning when we were hungry. I ordered the cheese, onion utappam and my friends ordered, masala Dosa, Mysore Sada dosa, and tomato utappam. They all tasted delicious, and the staff is very good and quick, as they always have people coming in. It's really pocket friendly and an ideal breakfast place.
This is our all-time favourite home-delivery option for food when it comes to not being able to decide what to eat. We dropped in here yesterday. We tried the mostly deadly combinations of food because we were in the "Aaj kuch tufaani karte hai mood"
So first we called for butter idli, yes coz steam idli is too mainstream😛. Sincerely, the butter idli is not worth the money coz all you get is steam idli and 2 blocks of butter that you have to apply on the idlis and gulp it down. Next came Veg Dry Manchurian! Decent enough but really very spicy,so if you are calling for it and if you aren't the Spicy kind of person then please call for a less spicy manchurian!
The heavenly dish was the Jain Paneer Biryani. My parents are a crazy fan for the paneer Biryani out here since the 90's. It's a dish to die for. Please don't forget to call for it if you happen to visit this place. It was a nice blend of paneer, rice, tomatoes ,spices and obviously their secret gravy! Cherry on the cake was that it was served with gravy and Papad!
P.S:Giving it a rating of 4 coz paneer Biryani just took our heart away!
It’s located near Mumbai central station on the busy junction street. The place is another best option for snacks; they serve a lot of south Indian dishes and are good in taste. They also server north Indian food, its average in taste.
It’s a pocket friendly restaurant, their service is fairly fine. The ambiance is good like a normal restaurant.
Eating here since I was a child. Very good restaurant. Consistent in their taste. Value for money. Pocket friendly and delicious food. Always packed with customers.
It's the best place at Bombay Central!! each and everything served here is perfect and yummy...be it Punjabi, South Indian or even Chinese (Indo Chinese to be specific)!
Near mumbai central stn try their thali which looks good and also try some snacks veg pattice ,veg bonda ,sweet kachori quite decent, parking is a problem here
Best place to have breakfast , lunch or dinner...quality food, good quantity, good service and not at all expensive. Love the pav bhaji and malai kofta out here :)
How can this place be so good?!
All the vegetable preparations - I LOVED IT!!
Even this place is not fancy. But they got brilliant food. Palak paneer, vegetable jhaalfarezi is a must try.
Finger licking food.
Gud palce to it !!! A place which reminds u if old Mumbai rather Bombay...i ordered a dosa.....v crisp thought taste was not that authentic south Indian...Gud place to catch a quick bite
Best South Indian food I've had in Mumbai. The Rava Masala Dosa was brown and crispy, Vada was so good that we didn't had to chew, as it was melting as soon as we put it in our mouth :p All in all, best place to have south Indian food, as I've not tried their other dishes yet.
Another best restaurant near the mumbai central railway station next to the kalpana restaurant i s kalpana restaurant best for its vegetarian cuisines, paneer tikka dry in starters is the best, with paneer tikka masala goes good with the butter naan
The quality of food is excellent. The chutney which they offer along with onion & pickle is outstanding!!! My personal favourite is the "Veg Maharaja" sabji. Apart from this they r quick in service. What else do u want :) ?
Kalpana is very famous for its thali. The thali is pocket friendly and delicious. One must try a thali there. Yummy Food.
Food- 10/10

nice and pocket friendly place to eat. Food is good. service is good. I ordered Dal Tadka and zeera rice. both were very nice. also ordered bournvita milk for child that was also nice. staff is cordial
Reasonably priced. One of the oldest South Indian restaurants in Mumbai Central area. I have been visiting this place since more than 40 years. Drinking water glasses are sparkling clean every time. Idli, dosas, and Punjabi fare is good here. Reasonably priced with courteous and attentive service. I personally like chutney they serve with the idlis.
A very basic restaurant but very good food, clean and very good at service this is a restaurant is for the people who want to have food parceled for the long journeys via mumbai central station or the ones who have traveled and arrived at that station.
This restaurant has been one of my favourites.... i love the food here... the dosas, the thali, the indian sabjis are awesome! The staff is extremely well-mannered and helpful...

Kalpana is just opposite to my residence. The presentation is good. They have opened an ac room too inside. But I still prefer to sit outside. Have tried paneer makhani, different types of dosas and vadas. Sabu Dana vada is the best..crunchy and delicious and big in size. Only one thing I don't like is sabudana vada the most favourite dish they cook only on Saturdays. So I have to wait for a week to have it.

Good decent restaurant in the heart of the city. Known for its dosa's n vadas. A typical south Indian restaurant.
I ordered Rawa Masala Dosa. It was crisp brown and less oily. Taste was pretty good.
Vegetarian restaurant for a quick bite near Mumbai Central station. Service is fast and the restaurant provides many vegetarian food options like chinese, punjabi, South Indian etc. Thali is also available. Juices and shake options are available.

Good South Indian breakfast, lunch and dinner. We were 20 people ordered different items and we liked them all.
Only thing which was not likable was their sweet sambhar. 😁
Quite descent pure veg restaurant. Taste is pretty good with indian touch in almost every dish. Pocket friendly with respect to the location
Would rate 4 stars for the location as it is very near to Mumbai Central Railway Station. They have loads of cuisine to try and can have quick bite too, I tried paneer biryani which was delicious and loved that. The raita and chatni serves were delicious and fresh too. The hygiene was maintained. The ambiance was quite good. It's the very old restaurant but the interiors doesn't looks so. I would love to try some Maharashtrian and South indian cuisine next time for sure.
Cheese masala dosa was too good. and the service is also good. Very nice pricing as well.

Very good restaurant with very good food! 👌
This place is not a hotel but a restaurant only. There are no lodging rooms here. For nonveg food & liquor there is a next door restaurant " Captain Cook " .( same owner) Toilet is common for both restaurants. Muslim families as well as hindus with families do frequent this kalpana veg restaurant. There is one more restaurant with Gujarati food next door " Hotel Shagun " also. This place is very close to mumbai central railway station. Ordinary veg thali costs rs189/- here. But worth the food and ambience. Wallet parking available for about 10 two wheelers & 2-3 four wheelers. It has a separate airconditioned section as well. Decent crowds visible. Clean hygienic place to breakfast, lunch and dinner open from 7 am to 11 pm on all days.
