We bored eating at home. Wanted to try some quick bites and Chinese. So ordered jilani fast food corner.
Special maharaja shawarma is quite special. It is bigger in size when compared to a chicken shawarma which I had once tried from them. Well stuffed juicy chicken and lots of chutney and spices. Certainly not at all bad to get that good shawarma at a steal worthy price.
The most succulent kebabs ever!! You definitely got to try it when you are in Mumbai . Try the the mutton seekh and the bheja tawa Murg khurchan

Chicken tikka roll and chicken kashmiri pulao were both good. Kashmiri pulao has a good fragrance of saffron and flavour of dry fruits but a little sweet which not everyone would prefer.

A value for money food joint. We ordered for the Chicken baida roti and Turkish roll. Both were really oily but if you don't mind the extra carbs I would recommend ordering the two dishes. Both were really juicy and delicious. The Turkish roll is a must try.
About the place, not too comfortable a seating area. So I would recommend ordering the food home or lest you could stand on the road and devour your food.

Every Ramzan my trip to Mohammed Ali rd is incomplete without a visit to Jilani. A small fast food joint in Bohri Mohalla. Known for its rolls, sandwiches etc never lets you down. Reached early here this time as most of the mutton delicacies are over if you reach late. Ordered the Tawa Gurda which was served with Pav. Cooked well but the gravy could have been thicker. But atleast the taste was not compromised. Went on to order the regulars then, Chicken Cheese Baida Roti, Chicken Naan Sandwich and the Chicken Roll all upto the mark as always. Crowded during Ramzan with temporary seating area you just have to be there for the food.

Been here during the Ramadan period. It was packed fully and people literally had to wait to get a seat. Ordered the chicken cheese baida roti. It was surely the best meal had during a long time. The naan sandwich and the chick roll though weren't that impressive.

We friends have been having their stuff for ramadan walks for the past few years. They do serve some mean carnivore stuff in tawa style. The place is located in a small alley near the Saifi ambulance lane. .
The chicken baida roti is my most favourite thing here. It can easily beat the overhyped and overpriced stuff at Ayubs(Fort). It does have 2 tables to seat but as it is right on the road in the path of the traffic, enjoying the stuff while standing is recommended. We are huge fans of the tawa bheja masala served here. To be mopped with the unique burger shaped nans the silky textured and mildly spiced dish will definitely keep you salivating for more. For the more spicy inclined try their black pepper bheja masala.
This time we ordered their bhuna chicken which are small boneless bits of chicken in a reddish dry gravy. But it was average at its best.
Heard their nan sandwiches and chicken Kasturi is popular too.

Jilani Fast Food Corner (literally at a corner) has adapted the traditional food into fast food (be it a mutton sandwich or a mutton kasturi frankie) which tastes exquisitely well as does their ever famous chicken baida roti - which is crispy and well balanced in taste (of minced chicken and the roti) whilst the sandwiches and frankies are not only delectable but inspiring in their look (in the shades of a canopy surrounded by glittering lights they look as attractive, if not more, as TV ads make fast food look). Under the partially cloudless sky, in the not so intense humidity of Mumbai, the food here is equally glorious (as compared to the traditional food) in legacy and taste and definitely, worth a visit.

There are times when you want to gorge on the Tawa items (only non-vegetarian) that you get in the lanes of Mumbai. Bade Miya is one of the popular joint where they serve tandoor and tawa items. However, as times have passed, they have increased their prices, which made me think about the value for money of Bade Miya.
My dad likes to explore new joints, and he had visited this place when it had just opened. He liked it so much that he ensured that we all visit it to give it a try. Since then, I have been a fan of Jilani Fast Food, and have visited it time and again. Especially in the month of Ramadan.
Situated in the lanes of Bohri Mohalla, Jilani has good competition there with Indian Restaurant just a few shops away. However, Alam bhai, the owner, has ensured that he serves good food to the customers.
The must have here is Chicken Baida Roti, Chicken Roll, Mutton Naan Sandwich, and the Tawa Aloo. Ensure that it is served directly from the tawa. Have it with the green chutney to add a different taste to the dishes.
They also serve bheja masala and gurda masala, and I really like the preparation. Good blend of spices, slowed cooked on a tawa, the bheja and gurda masala goes well with naan.
After you are done with all the eating, don’t forget to drink a glass of Kala Khatta at Idris Cold Drink.

It is a small food joint where there are no chairs or tables except during the holy month of Ramadan. So on the other days, either you stand and eat or take away the parcel and relish it.
Jilani Fast Food Corner serves authentic Tawa items ranging from the Baida Rotis, Bhuna, Rolls, Bheja Fry, Gurda, Tawa Rolls, Tawa Biryani, etc. all of these with an option of Chicken & Mutton. The fragrance of the food items being cooked on the huge Tawa tickles your nostrils and turns on the smelling sense of a human being. Once you get the hit then there are no chances of you escaping without placing an order and relishing their cuisine.
So, we happened to stop by at Jilani because of the cravings to eat some Tawa items. We ordered Chicken Special Baida (Egg) Roti, Chicken Special Tawa Roll and Chicken Special Bhuna Naan* Chaap. The difference between the special items and the normal ones are that of the size of the portion which is bigger than the regular ones. All the dishes were served with spicy green chutney, sliced onions & nimbu*
CHICKEN SPECIAL BAIDA ROTI is an Indian bread – maida* roti filled with minced chicken and egg. It is shallow fried in oil on a Tawa until the roti is turns out to be golden & crispy. Very delicious and quite heavy.
CHICKEN SPECIAL TAWA ROLL is also some-what similar to baida* roti. It is an Indian version of Spring Rolls filled with minced Chicken and egg nicely spread on the maida* roti and cooked in oil. The ingredients and preparation are far tasty and appetizing as compared to the Baida* roti. They are also shallow fried until the roll turns out to be golden and crunchy.
CHICKEN SPECIAL BHUNA NAAN-CHAAP is yet another Indian version of the traditional Sandwich but with twist. The bread (Naan) also known as mini sheermal is a saffron flavoured traditional flat bread made out of maida*, leavened with yeast and baked in an oven/tandoor. Bhuna chicken is an extension of the process where meat is added to the spices and then cooked in its own juices which results in deep strong flavours but very little sauce. The naan* is filled with bhuna, cut into 4 pieces and served sizzling hot. The rich flavours and Indian spices mixed in the sandwich is absolutely enriching and luscious.
The above mentioned dishes are a must try not only at Jilani Food corner but anywhere in India if you are trying the Tawa cuisines. The experience and the food is un-match able which no type of fine dine restaurants can give you. It is completely a street food type of dishes and a complete value for money joint. The quantity and quality is also good enough but do not expect anything like the typical restaurants of Mumbai. A must try!

A hidden gem Maulana Shaukat Ali road near Mohamed Ali road. We had some amazing Bheja fry - absolutely creamy and melt in the mouth, right amount of spices, but definitely very rich and not for the health conscious. We also tried mutton cream roll, all the shawarmas and other rolls are a total fail in front of this. This street is less hyped and less crowded than the MA road and if you are looking at a peaceful and non-fancy place to have meals, this is a must try. Phirni is mildly sweet and perfectly creamy set in a clay bowls. Must visit and must try.
