Chanced upon this little joint while doing one of my favourite things as a Mumbaikar - go galavanting in South Mumbai. Until I saw it recently, I had no clue of its existence and boy was I pleased to find this place!!
So being the Mallu beef hunter that I'm, I had to try their beef fry which combined magically with their flaky, soft wheat porottas. If I had a dying food wish, it would be for beef fry and porotta and the kind of which is served in places like this humble joint. We also tried the squid masala, which was again kick ass and full of flavor! What I loved is the thoughtfulness of the manager to give us 3 different gravies to enjoy our porottas as the beef fry and squid accompaniment we ordered alongside were dry items. Full marks there!
Finally, try washing all this goodness down with some Kerala black tea. Blissful, delicious, filling and yet so economical! I loved the beef fry so much that I bought two of those as take aways too. All in all in a total bill of just 520 rupees including those take aways!! Are you kidding me!! But seriously, beef porotta ke deewano, Public Restaurant ke darshan aap kar hi aao.
Pro tip: go on a weekend to avoid office crowd of the weekdays.
Great place for south indian dishes

Crowded during lunch time sumtime you have to wait but that is compenstate with their delicious food so no offence.

Very economical and tasty Kerala food you will find here. You won't have a comfy seating, but food will be tasty. We ordered for Mutton masala fry and porotta. The meat was well cooked and soft.
Hello Mumbai...if u wanna know how Kerala food tastes, this restaurant in fort serves what u desires.
Experience kerala as it comes, with rices, Aapams ,suleimani (lemon tea with added spices),steam rice cake ( puttu) which makes ur tummy crave for more.
Public restaurant is a place located at fort owned by a South india, kerala, the restaurant is not very fancy place, just a very local place which serves local kerala muslim food, appam, ghee rice, dal ghee, chicken 65, crab masala, surmai fry, macchi biryani and at last black lemon tea ( sulemani chai ) it feels nice to go there sometimes ...
This small Kerala food place at Fort in the Police court lane is a cheap and wonderful restaurant. Must try their various evening snacks with Kerala style powder tea or podi chai. Authentic Kerala style food with seafood, chicken, mutton, eggs and vegetarian options.
It's a small restaurant located at walkable distance from CST, where you get superb kerala dishes. We had surmai fry (100 rs) , panner masala(Rs.100) and obviously the most wanted meat of kerala (Rs.95) ! We had this along with kerala porotta and I must say their porottas are huge and 3 should be more than enough for an average person. The taste of all the items were really good. The paneer masala especially was really good. They do give free fish/chicken gravies. Only thing i felt was that their fish was slightly overpriced for the kind of portion we received. Overall really glad to have had that back to kerala feel ❤

I ate biriyani from here.
Before biriyani one sweet payasam is serving.
That was good starter.
Pappadam and salad were average.
Biriyani is kind of masala is more. And little bit water content is also there.
Not thick masala. Anyway If you want to feel Kerala taste must visit.
Biriyani cost 130
They are from kasarkode.
Nice people.
A goldmine for those who love Keralite food, I travel over 30kms just for the food here... The meat fry is exactly what one would expect in Kerala, the parathas were as authentic as it could get and the Appam was fresh and served as a perfect company for the dishes that I ordered viz Meat fry and prawns masala.
Very well maintained restaurant, if you are looking Kerala dishes then u are the right place , rates are very much affordable
Good hotel which provide all kerala dishes in reasonable rate. Din in space is limited. Recommended parcel only.
Wonderful, honest food. Do not miss for nonveg Kerala cuisine.
Great food, reasonable price and some tasty Kerala snacks = perfect Kerala hotel
You must try the fish special thali, the price is very reasonable plus the fish and the curry that you get with it is really tasty
Also, you can try other items on the menu for me it tasted like how it's back home in Kerala, the Kerala chicken or the dry beef fry was best starters.
Now about the place and ambience, please don't expect a special treatment here, this is a small resto with great food with a amazing price at 10mins walk from CST station. So expect a good Kerala resto ambience and enjoy the food
Surely in top preferences for sea food in Kerala style...also not very expensive
The Food and the Service very Good.
The Hygiene of the Place is Pathetic not acceptable for a Food Joint.
Tasty Kerala foods... One of my favorite restaurant in Mumbai. Good food in affordable price.
Best for nonveg keralian food.. Pocket friendly...
The food was very good and the prices were very reasonable. The hotel size is small but u can find many varieties of food.
This hotel is special for Kerala people
I like this hotel more than any other hotels those are situated in Fort.
Anyway I like their kerala foods friday to sunday they serve manthi (chicken)
Biriyani is not as good as in Bombay hotel. Price of chicken biriyani is 120.
