This is the oldest gaushala of south mumbai. They allow you to feed the cows with grass and laddoos. There are pregnant cows, small calves and bulls(nandi). The cows are so loving, gentle and compassionate. The place is clean and very well maintained.

Located in southern Mumbai near Bhulaeshwar. People come here to donate food to animals such as cows, ducks, peogens, chicken, etc. You can give various types of foods such as grass, ladoos, chanas, jowar, etc. It's very well managed by the authorities. People come here from far off place to feed animals and get some punya.

Mumbai city's oldest cowshed and great place to take kids to see the cows getting fed grass. There's pregnant cows, small calves, bulls as well as just born calves. There's also pigeons and other birds and animals to see but the main attraction is surely the cows ! Grass can be bought on the spot to feed the cows but Lapsi and other things need to be booked in advance.

Best place in town if you like to feed cows. The cows are always hungry and looking to you for food. Please help them please give grass first and if not available than ladoos. The cows are very gentle and loving. Thanks

They have so many cows and well maintained. It's is managed by Trust. One thing I didn't like is the quantity of laddu's and grass they give at the price. Experience to feed cows is amazing

I read about Bombay Panjrapole in the Lonely Planet and made sure that it was on my list of to do when in Mumbai. My impression prior to the visit was that Bombay Panjrapole was a shelter for homeless cows and other animals in Mumbai. On the surface Bombay Panjrapole looked well run – all the animals look healthy and well fed. However, on closer inspection I noticed that all the cows here are the one bread and that there seemed to be a disproportionate number of calves. I am sure that Bombay Panjrapole started with good intentions however I feel that it has now become a breading centre for the cows as opposed to finding a place for those on the street. Perhaps they use the funds raised for other projects (it was a couple of Rs to buy food to feed the cows) I do not know, however overall I left the ‘shelter’ feeling saddened that I had witnessed an almost ‘puppy-farm’ like organisation. Also all the staff constantly harrassed us for tips everytime they spoke. If they offer to show you something or let you pat they also want tips, so beware!
