Great place owned by a dear friend who is very passionate about his food and its quality. Canteen Fried Chicken and the Chicken Chettinad Roll are must haves. Great place that's always trying to reinvent itself, coming up with quirky dishes that usually taste great. Definitely one of my favourite places to snack every once in a while.
One of the best south indian food in chembur !! Tried a few of their dishes !! Very few serve such authentic south indian food !! This surely is my regular go to place now !!! Keep it up guys !!
This place is perfect for South Indian snacks . For the times where you don't feel like having an entire meal but just a short snack . I had the canteen chicken and gunpowder idli which were tasty af.
Gotta try the Canteen Fried Chicken for sure! A perfect blend of local spices and succulent pieces of chicken. Couldn’t stop munching on it. For veggies, the perfect snack with a drink is the Fried Idli.

Deccan Canteen is located on the main road of Chembur Camp,Was desperately craving for delicious Andhra Style food and Deccan Canteen got me sorted. What I ordered:-
We tried their Malabar Paratha Rolls in the wheat base which makes the rolls absolutely healthy.
Chicken Chettinad Roll:-Excellent. The roll had nice filling of basic chopped veggies,tiny cubes of chicken and was perfectly spiced.
Chicken and Mushroom Roll:-Again this was a mixture of chicken and mushroom and tasted really delicious.
Biryani:-
Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani:-This was not boneless but was lip smaking,The chicken pieces were perfectly spiced and marinated. The rice was really flavourful and had authentic flavours of Hyderabadi Biryani,Also the biryani was topped with fried onions from top.
Main course:-
Manglorian Sukka Mushroom:-Really good this was! The mushrooms were perfect in taste. Moreover like a dry dish but can be enjoyed with malabari parathas or normal roti.
Chicken Sukka:-Again a great option for main course if you'll love eating non vegetarian food. Really well spiced and was really delectable to taste.
So this is all I ordered from Deccan Canteen,If you'll like some south twist in your food,A must try or if you'll want a break for north Indian food.

The deccan canteen is delivery outlet in Chembur, located in food hub of Chembur. Near jhama sweets.
We ordered,
1 veg meal combo with veg kurma as a vegetable gravy. The order came as only veg kurma, no other dishes of a meal. Was expecting a complete meal in menu. Also friends ordered other non vegetarian dishes.
The flavors of gravy were not really proportional. Needs little improvement. The veg kurma was really spicy and the chopped veggies were really big in size.
The friends were little satisfied with their non vegetarian food. But vegetarian food needs little improvement.
#foodiefat - Deccan canteen is a decent spot with reasonable price to have food, had heard about it a quite long time back but didn't tried the food over here, this place is located at the much hustle bustle area of Chembur just close to jhama.

#Manglorian sukkha chicken - Chicken was fresh and well cooked with amazing amount of spice just the way it should be.
# Mushroom chettinaad roll - Roll was oozing with sauce and filled with chicken each bite was stuffed with goodness.
#Egg Hyderabadi biryani - Was well done but low on egg but the rice tasted amazing.
#Canteen fried chicken - Was a bit setback didn't liked much, must have been a bad day for me to get this, tasted much of a batter than chicken.
Overall good experience a bit improvement will surely make this place much better.

Deccan Canteen is known for their unique and delicious south Indian dishes. This place is specialized in south Indian food. Personally I like south Indian dishes very much.
We've ordered lunch from here. The delivery guy coordinated very well and food deliverd on time. Packaging of food was good.

The food was good and was hot while it was delivered. It's was taste and fresh. The delivery was a little late but food compensated for it. The packing was done properly and every item was labelled very well (the name of the item was written on the box). I find this amazing because there are Alot of times I order something and don't know which one is which? But well they got me sorted this time. Coming to food we had :
#1 maysor dosa
In maysor dosa they sprinkle the red powder which was good in taste
#2 Tomatoe uttapam
In Tomatoe uttapam the add chopped Tomatoe, green chilly, and coriander was good in taste
#3 Idly rasam
They served steam idly with rasam was good in taste.
#4 Dahi idly chat
I never tryed this type of chat was different. The idly was fully deep in curd and sweet and Phudina chutney with sev and chopped onion was too good.
#5 maysor schezuan dosa
The maysor schezuan dosa in it they spread schezuan sauce on top was good in taste.
#6 Rosted veg schezuan
They Rosted all the vegetables and mix it sauce and made the made the roll was good in taste.
#7 Andhra jeera allo roll
In this roll they add boil allo with Andhra Masal in it was good in taste.
#8 pav bhaji idly
This was a classic combination of idly and pav bhaji both different parts of this this country. The pav bhaji idly was both spicy and yummy. I tend to like spicy food more.
Overall it was a fulfilling experience and to be honest I loved the food quality. Both the taste and texture were extremely perfect and comforting.
If u love dosas and other yummy south indian delicacies then this place is for you!!

We tried the Canteen Fried Chicken and Andhra Chilli Idli for starters and both were a complete riot of flavours. The chicken was succulent and idli crisp on the outside and moist within.
For mains we had the Curry Leaf Chicken. We were blown away with the flavour of the gravy. The chicken was cooked to perfection with the right balance of spices. We also had the Canteen Special Chicken Biryani. This was prepared to perfection too. The biryani was moist and the meat was tender and well marinated.
Can’t wait to try the rest of the items on the menu. Definitely going back for more 😃

Great food, good ambience, smiling service... describes Deccan Canteen perfectly. Tried this new Joint in Chembur Camp started by 2 enthusiastic youngsters last weekend and they did not disappoint. The Canteen fried Chicken and the Chicken Lollipops were crispy and succulent, Fried idli was hot and spicy and the egg Paratha was finger licking good. All in all a great experience. Worth checking out.
I urge folks in Chembur and surroundings to check this new joint. The owners are 2 local guys I personally know, who have been breaking their head on this concept for years now. The results are amazing, and easily available at their Camp shop: you will find the most known South Indian item foods in a revisited ready-to-bite shape, with an eye on freshness and hygiene.
My personal favorites are egg chicken paratha roll, rasam soup and gunpowder idli. Special recommendation for the sheera too!

Also the rasam wada is nicely done with bite sized mini Vadas (in pic). Deccan Canteen is a place for small bites. Idlis and parottas in veg and non veg options are available. Tried the Gunpowder and Andhra Chilly Idli. The Andhra Chilly is already my favourite with the tempering of garlic and chilles perfectly complimenting the crispy idlis. Polished the plate off..Fried garlic et al. Another interesting thing is that you aren't served the usual chutneys and no sambhar with your idlis or parottas. 3 interesting takes on chutneys are offered. The Sambhar Salsa is a winner.
Non vegetarian options are lip-smacking and the Chicken Chettinad Parotta is simply brilliant. Full marks to the chef!! The name itself is a win win for me. I am yet to go back and have the Canteen Fried Chicken which I saw on their Insta handle (DeccanCanteen) looked delicious.
They also serve rassam and it was how it should be with the right amount of kick and the feeling of having rassam and not a make believe. For the sweet buds sheera is available. Again perfect sweetness and does not leave a sugary aftertaste.
Overall, definitely recommend Deccan Canteen for that quick pitstop in Chembur Camp for delectable food from the South. It's perfect for that evening stomach grumble time. Check it out!!
