Textures of bitter chocolate from @qualiabombay
The combination of the soil and sorbet was fantastic and definitely a treat to our tastebuds! .
Qualia holds up the Rahul Akerkar flag high with the quality of Ingredients. We ordered sides more than the mains as I surely miss good vegetarian sides in the city and these ones were delicious, simple fresh vegetables cooked just right. We loved the loved the peppery hand made pasta, don’t remember the name though . The Banoffee 😍was exquisite 😍
Qualia, located in Lower Parel, marks the return of Chef Rahul Akerkar to the Indian restaurant scene. Qualia describes the quality of a sensory experience and this new restaurant offers not a wild vision of new ways to cook but a solid vision of how to eat. Flavours are big and clean, yet deep and elemental – demonstrating a commitment to the freshest ingredients available and an impeccable flair for combining them. The cuisine-agnostic menu with a modern European base, reflects Rahul’s culinary ethos and Indian roots fusing rich culinary techniques with an elemental use of bold flavours.
One of my favorite places to go to in the city.. great innovative food. Lot of efforts taken to curate a fascinating menu and unique dishes packed with bags of flavor. Went for their Sunday brunch this time and absolutely loved it..
This Sunday brunch is a brunch made of dreams! I’ve to go back to try the non-vegetarian menu yet. My favourites is the pancakes, the graham cracker waffle, the pizza 🍕 and the corn bread. Pair it with a Gin & Tonic, your brunch is perfect. Try and get a table by the place where they cook, it’s an ultimate experience. 😍
Loved the food. Fine dining at its finest.
Loved the charred broccoli and the burnt lemon risotto. Staff is very helpful and friendly.
Little burning on the pocket. But a must try.
Superb dining experience at this place. Anand was very helpful in selecting our dishes for us and each and every dish was just amazing
The lamb burger, the corn bread, oven baked clams, the mushroom kale pizza, jalapeño glazed chicken wings,, the tiger prawns, all were so delicious
The mocktails- the berry drink and detox and the cocktails--retox and the vodka based elderflower drink were just made with perfection
And to top it, the desserts were to die for
Overall, a very good experience for Sunday brunch
Will definitely want to try their weekday menu too
Ambience and Service is top. Found the appetisers to be average. Pastas were very nice but portions were tiny. Pizzas made in the woodfire oven were great.
Visited them for a really delicious Sunday brunch. Their hospitality is the very best in Mumbai. Nowhere else have I come across such great and warm people in mumbai.
What I had ?
Mushroom sandwich & chicken burger & moonwalk
What I liked the most ?
Almost everything
Pricing : ₹4000 for all of this
What I thought ?
It’s become my first choice for a weekend brunch now:)
Weekends are for indulging, so forsake your usual green smoothie to tuck into a steaming hot plate of Turkish eggs – poached eggs drenched in yoghurt, lamb kibbeh and flat bread. Add a portion of homemade Cruffins and bottomless Bourbonana and you’re ready to go.
Go for the buttermilk pancakes with red wine plums and frozen yogurt.Pair with a red smoke and make it a sumptous start to a Lazy Sunday brunch.
Nice place, great food, very good service. Breads and pizzas are really good. Burnt lemon risoto was too good. Never had it at any other place.
Setting new standards for taste , quality . Best pastry chef . Breads , desserts better than the best . The French will have sleepless nights . Must visit . Hand picked friendly staff .
Rahul Akerkars newest feather in the cap - QUALIA. Very well done up, very comfortable seating, well-lit, great menu, and excellent service (Thank you Aniket!). What more can you ask for, from a fine dining restaurant? TASTE! And that, Qualia has in plenty. We started with Pulled Jackfruit tarts (the most incredibly amazing pastry Ive ever had), Pickled Mackerel Crostini (surprisingly I enjoyed this one, even though Im not too keen on this fish generally), Grilled Prawns (good hit of chilly but so delicately cooked), and Clams and Mussels Pizza. I love out-of-the-box food and these dishes set the right tone for us all. We then followed these with tender and yummmm Buffalo Cheeks, a very good Duck Leg Confit with lentils and red currants, an oh-so-good Blackened Salmon, and a delicious Buffalo tartare. We were stuffed to well beyond the gills but knew that these delicious dishes had to be followed by dessert, and believed that they would certainly have not-to-be-missed desserts. And we werent wrong. Goats Cheese Mouse with Celery Sorbet, and Burnt Honey Icecream are to die for!
Even though it was a Thursday night, and we had gone for the second seating, the restaurant was full. Im glad we had booked a table. This tells me that Mumbai has grown up, and people are now demanding good world quality food, and are not satisfied with mediocre quality and the same old fare of countless. Well done Mumbai, and Well Done Qualia for answering this demand to the fullest. Yes, it certainly pinches the wallet a bit, but then to celebrate food, you must be ready to pay a higher price for it.
We visited this restaurant over the weekend. The place is well made and great ambience. The bartender is good so def recommend to try the cocktails/mocktails. Food is good as well, our server Alex did a fantastic job and def shall visit again. The only downside is the portions are too small so sometimes you may get confused if they are serving you your order or sending you complimentary dishes to taste. Overall a must visit and a very good experience.
Terrific just terrific personal touch of the chef owner visible every where from the food to the ambiance. The food is light on the pallet but nicely flavoured. Would like to be there once again ASAP .
I was there for friends birthday,
I found the ambience is superb, the service was amazing, the food was excellent,
But if I go, I mite find it expensive, but good food ambience the we have to pay for good price,
But it’s I vil give 9/10 one mark less only the price rest it was amazing ❤️
Outstanding food and ambience. Especially loved the snapper and lemon grass/coconut broth. Rahul's endearing personality clearly comes out through the warm flavours hidden inside the food.
One of my best meals in a long long time. The best part of that the vegetarian food is also so good that you forget about the non vegetarian food ( which is also brilliant) the staff is unbelievably well trained polite and helpful our boy was Govardhan He helped with choices of dishes. The ambience is really lovely too. Not like any other restaurant I’ve been to. The splatter and pop of the coals was a lovely sound to hear as you ate. It’s not inexpensive but worth every paisa
Visited Qualia on Sunday for dinner with a friend of mine, Its right beside townhall at the Lodha building.
We had a reservation but wanted to have drinks first, so we were seated at the bar. We both started with wine, a great tasting Malbec (red) wine for me. They have a small but sperate menu with short eats for the bar, but we decided to skip it and order from the main menu instead.
Though im non vegetarian, I decided to have vegetarian food that night. We orders 2 dishes and decided to split it.
Pizza
Roasted Bell peppers, with buratta and arugula romesco - 5/5
I was skeptical while ordering it and was very intrigued to know if they make they're buratta fresh which they do and my word was a fantastic pizza!!! 😁 So fresh, the base was so thin and baked to perfection and the crust done perfectly as well. All round a great and fresh tasting pizza.
Vegetable
Spinach Cavatelli with snap peas and their tendrils, parmesan and white truffle - 5/5
I always prefer food with truffle, as I feel everything tastes better with Truffle💯
This was a small dish, it's similar to ravioli but the sauce that it came with and the truffle on top was really delicious. It also had a small crunchy thing on top that complimented the dish really well.
Tea
Alishan Oolong Taiwan - ordered a pot of this tea as well for digestion and wellness 😊🍵
Special mention to Mr. Anand who served us and took care of our table. He was very respectful, professional and good at suggesting food to order.
The interiors of this restaurant are another great plus of this restaurant. The sofas are a deep red and run the entire length of the restaurant thats besides the glass back. They also have these chains that hang form ceiling to floor to give privacy to some tables. They also gave an enite wall above the kitchen dedicated to various pickles in various stages of curing. Sadly I didn't take any photos of the interior.
All and all a great restaurant with a great a ambience, great service and delicious food to match.
Had gone with mixed feelings about the place. My worries were placed to rest with just one bite. We started of with a Brussel sprout pizza with a hint of lemon it was something new to the palet and very pleasing. The red snapper was nice but I found it a bit on the luke warm side and not so great it felt as if some one had just placed the fish on top of the sauce.... avoidable. The braised Buffalo Cheeks were to die for absolutely fantastic one side of the sauce was a cream based with a hint of dil and the other was a brown sauce with just the right amount of lemon in it fortunately my wife does not eat red meat so I had it all my self. We had also ordered the burnt lemon risotto which was very good too. Be careful when ordering the portions size is just enough for two people and you can't streachnit to three. We ended out meal with the goat cheese mousse... End to a perfect meal. It's a definite I will go again.
Good ambience and great service - high ceiling, dim yet well-lit. Presentation of each dish was creative and appetizing. The white and green asparagus, artichokes, broccoli and beetroot starters were great, the pumpkin is skippable. The pizzas are tasty but had very thick and not-crisp crusts. Both chocolate desserts were great!
Superb food and hospitality by Rahul Akerkar! Very very happy with the personal interest taken in the food order placed and feedback of our dinner taken by Rahul yesterday night! Just gives an edge over other restaurants when the owner/main chef is so humble and passionate about taking care of his diners’ requests and feedback. Qualia food was outstanding! A few of us requested for some changes in the menu to cater to our vegan meal, which was handled so professionally with utter excellence. Totally floored by the overall experience in Qualia! A big fan just after eating first time last night!
One of the only restaurant experiences I've had where each every dish on the menu was excellent! Ambience and service impeccable as well, can't wait to go back!
Dined here on the opening night and was mind blown by the food. Visited twice ever since. The ambiance definitely wins you over and the fact that someone takes the time out to take you through the concept is an added bonus.
Beginning the meal with Bread and a lipsmacking butter is something I always look forward to.
For someone who has just recently developed a liking for broccoli, this charred broccoli dish is absolute winner. Packed with textures and flavours.
Coming to the Yellowfin Tuna tartare, this kokum infused delicacy is not just refreshing, it really makes those tastebuds tingle.
The Fermented Tomato with Avocado is so refreshing and perfect for the Summer as is the white and green asparagus.
The Heirloom beets are a personal favourite. The dish brings out the textures of the beetroot beautifully.
The char on the pizzas gives a nice smokey flavour to the toppings as well as the toppings. The balsamic roasted aubergine one with the mozerella is yum as is the steak and eggs. The braised radicchio is definitely one I'd skip. Somehow just didnt work for me.
Amongst the mains the Goat cheese Agnolotti shouldn't be missed and neither should the Roast Chicken. Both wholesome, comforting dishes. Amongst the sides the potatoes are yum and the wood roasted mushrooms and baby carrots are something I'm quite sure of ordering at every dining experience here.
Coming to my favourite part - Dessert!
Hands down a fan of the textures of Bitter chocolate. It's smooth, light, bitter, creamy and refreshing. Everything a dessert should be. Do try the charred chocolate cake as well.
Very good ambience, a nice place to have dinner with family and friends...didn't get to try a lot of dishes this time, but will go soon again to try some more dishes...
A culinary delight bursting with innovative ingredients and exemplary taste. Rather than fine dining I would call it a fabulous show of culinary mastery by Mr. Akrekar. He was right there at the open kitchen this Friday preparing one dish after another, even happened to offer to clear a guests' empty plate, which the guest rightfully refused to let him !!
Ordered only the vegetarian dishes and each had a distinct taste of its own. Interiors are very classy but the food actually highlights a taste that's exemplary. Extensive wine list to accompany the food. The staff is very attentive. The food takes a while but its worth the wait.
The pizzas are wood fired, the oven for which, makes the entire place a very warm for comfort, in spite of the air conditioning. This they have to work on.
Visit here for taste, ingredients and pleasure of innovation with a premium ambiance.
There are many fine restaurants to dine at in Bombay right now. Rahul Akerkar’s magnetic establishment, Qualia, opens several notches above them, with the legendary restaurateur raising the bar for an epicurean extravaganza which is as thrilling as it is revelatory. It’s rather fitting then that the word Qualia itself refers to individual instances of conscious experience.
Have been waiting for Rahul to open his restaurant....and made our way to first opportunity..
Superb food.. absolutely out of regular stuff you get in other restaurants.. this is what called CREATION... Each and every dish is created out
Of pure imagination...
I am sorry but I have forgotten name of each dish as been few days to our visit hence cant rate them individually... but we are vegetarians and loved each of them... pics attached as had to click them ..
They have unique theme.. they have pickled many ingredients and atleast one is part of each dish. This certainly requires tremendous inputs and can only be done by one who knows and loves his food.. I do remember our dessert with pickled celery...loved it..
Would have given 6 stars😜.. but I felt portions of few dishes was less TO SATISFY ENOUGH..... and felt slightly UNSATISFIED... and wanted more.. and to be honest I had to order ADDITIONAL PIZZA... which I certainly don’t regret.... but yes for person like me who does not nibble but Gobble... do add few extra grams...
All the best and will be there again.... Soon..
Fantastic restaurant great staff. Great food. Good to have Rahul Akerkar back on the circuit. Was solo couldn’t try much however will be back soon for more.
Visited on 16th May for dinner and would definitely recommend it. The tuna loin, Coimbatore pork chops, roasted pepper pizza, beignets and banoffie mess were fantastic. The djinn gin cocktail was delicious with very well balanced flavours. The charred chocolate was a little too bitter for my taste but others on my table loved it. Great service and lovely ambience, definitely one of the better dining experiences in Mumbai.
I had visited this place on 14th February. They had arranged a special menu named The Aphrodite's Table. The food was experimental and delicious. Some people might find the quantity lesser and the prices to be quite high, but I guess this is a price we have to pay for uniqueness, that also a mouthwatering uniqueness. Also, you need to be really open minded before you eat, because you probably will be eating something you have never tasted before and might not always like it. For example, we had ordered Artichoke which I didn't like but the husband loved and again Lobster which I loved but the husband didn't. Actually, all the food items are being cooked to perfection here, but at the end of the day it's your taste buds who make the decision.
The restaurant was very tastefully decorated. The hosts were very friendly, helpful and at the same time professional.
I would highly recommend everyone to try at this restaurant at least once. It will be a classic experience.
Perfect restaurant. Reservation was breezy. Visited on 30th April. Approx cost for 2 would be ₹3000. Parking is superb for both 2 wheelers (free) and 4 wheelers. Food & Taste 5/5. Hospitality & staff 6/5. The chef Rahul Akerkar 5/5. We were welcomed nicely, our server was brilliant and friendly (not over-friendly). They follow etiquettes of dining which is lovely. The food has a tinge of sweet and sour and many of the dishes are served with chutney and pickles. Some pickles are 6-8 months preserved and some even more. It's a really well-planned and made with love as a dream project kind of a restaurant. The food is super tasty and nothing like anything you have ever tasted. Must try. It's a gem.
We had gone for new year brunch ... Great menu for new year
Variety of food mocktails cocktails
Loved food ... delicious
Their interior is amazing and vast space ... This place is Great for giving birthday treat to friends
They have valet parking
Just next to this is garden where you can hang out and has great picturesque spots
Outside sitting is also available
This restaurant is at a very good location with peaceful surrounding, wide roads
We went for a walk after brunch
I like it when a place surprises me, and I loved Qualia, so that should sum it up. This is a place that combines style with class and you feel comfortable the minute you walk in. The decor is rich but not pretentious, there is an extensive liquor menu, the food is different yet not experimental, the service is enthusiastic not forced and the result of all this is a surreal experience of a high end international restaurant in the heart of Mumbai. The food is delicious and not hard on the wallet for it's range and I would suggest it from quiet couple dinners to family reunions. Must visit!
Rahul Akerkar's return has once again set the new standard for great cuisine. Looks like a restaurant you need to visit often and eat through the menu.
We simply loved the food at Qualia. Chef Akerkar’s attention to detail reflected in the careful consideration with which the food was sourced, prepared and presented. We had Tuna Tartare, Grilled octopus , pork chops, Braised Buffalo Cheeks, Charred cabbage, Steak Tartar , Roots with mole, Goat cheese mouse, banofee mess and their version of the torta caprese with vanilla cream. Must visit! A special shout out to Srikant for taking great care of us!
Good food. Fish was cooked to perfection. Gadchiroli mushroom was an interesting addition to the gnocchi. Cucumber lime sorbet was the best
Absolutely outstanding meal. Every dish we ordered was excellent! Desserts were super too! Service was great and our waiter very helpful with his suggestions. Love that the place didn't get too loud with the music either, such a rarity these days! Can't wait to go back, hopefully the liquor licence will be in place by then! So many more things on theb menu we'd love to try! Rahul Akerkar has done it again!
Outstanding food. The best steak tartare in town, leek terrine is a lovely innovation, the burnt lemon risotto is fantastic. The food hits all the right spots. Service though needs a little spruce up, tends to get a tad tardy.
It was a real mixed bag. Some dishes were excellent while a few were at best ordinary. The Lamb Presse was delicious and so were the Carpaccia and Tomato/Burrata.
Right at the start they gave us really nice warm bread with a lovely flavored butter.
Ambience is nice and the open kitchen looks great too.
Amazingly blended Cocktail flavours. But not so exciting continental food, few were excellent while others average!!!
But yes, the place, interiors needs special mention. Nice place to hangout....
Fine dining at its finest. The menu is just a page in length, yet offers an array of options to the vegans, vegetarians as well as the carnivores. Chef & owner Rahul Akrekar personally looks after the guests, in fact one of our orders was brought to the table by him! Service standards are impeccable and the ambience just appropriately classy. Of course, doesn't hurt that your dining companions at the tables around you would in all probability be a Bollywood or a sports celebrity. Don't take my word for it, experience Qualia for yourself!
Fabulous place. We had the steak pizza , duck sausage , oxtail and banofee mess and chocolate textures in dessert . The food was mind-blowing and the service was top notch . The ambiance is perfect and they play good music too . This place is going to pack them in .
Over the top expensive. Food is good but veg options are limited. Liked the lamb dish (forget the name) and oxtail pasta with french onion soup. Duck confit was not the best. Probably for special occasions only.
