We had to cross this dam for every trip during our Munnar visit in 2021, as we were staying at Bison valley. The environment around this dam is so beautiful with misty mountains, tea plantations and the river. However there are chances to face a bit of traffic block in this area, as the bridge is kind of narrow.

It's a very lovely place. It's not just a place for seenary, I would say visit here in the early morning of winter. The climate here is best. You can enjoy deep cool feeling here before sunrise. And It's behind a mountain from sun so even 8 am feels like early morning here. And the real beauty is fog over dam view. It's really beautiful to see. And if you notice you can see water is flowing down with holding a little bit of fog. It's much more that what I expressed here. Should visit atleast once. I've visited twice and note one thing don't be late. Morning is best for both view and climate. Spending and walk around will be more appreciated. Because that will double the feeling.

The Ramaswamy Aiyar Headworks Dam, also known as Munnar Headworks, is part of Pallivasal Hydro Electric Project which was the first hydro power project in the state. This is also one of the oldest dams built in Munnar. It was opened by Sir C. P Ramaswamy Aiyar in February 1944. Only one vehicle can pass through the bridge at a time.

The Munnar headworks dam is the reason behind the name of Munnar which means three Rivers joint at a single place ( Moondru + Aaru ) - Munnar. Here the two Rivers joins in inside the town and another was joins near the bridge. This is the oldest dam that built in munnar. You can see astonishing beauty around the dam several view points are there also several spices gardens are there last. So called munnar as land of spices and tea.

It's a small dam you can also use as a bridge. It's nice to go beyond it and go around the Hydel park, you can get some good views of the lake.

Munnar headworks dam is on the way to podamedu view point. The scenic beauty is mesmerizing. Rather it has much better view than podamedu view point.
