This is my all time favourite eating place for last 25 years whenever I travel from Delhi to Himachal and back. Great location, excellent food, chilled beer, friendly staff and very reasonably priced.
It's a place of those who amire taste. It's location is on the geriroot which is any day favourite spot for many people of all ages. Staff serves food with smile and food is cooked with great precision. Place to be with family with friends.

Well...quality of a person or a place is self defined...u need not to publicise it by promotion or advertisement....n...if we talk about nangal everyone says...its beautiful...apt for living peacefully...n...similarly if one wants to enjoy awesome food wid top class service..n beautiful location..In nangal ...den in my view, 1 need not to go astray...just carry meagre amount in ur pocket n go to chief Restaurant. ...n cherish ur beautiful n precious moments of ur lyf wid ur near n dear 1z, can be ur frndz or ur gf or wid ur wife or may be ur mum n paa or kidz...I m sure everyone will enjoy dere as it is a spot for all generation... here i wanna share sumthing abt my small n lovely last visit.wid my wfy..on da valentine day....on dat day i was bit confuse, as I wanted to make my day spl n memorable..as after marriage dis was my first valentine day...because of dat it was was very very spl...so I went der...n it was 5 or 5.30pm n asked dem about my plan...so dat they could arrange something spl...like candle lite dinner for us or so...n dey showed dat dey r professional dere work...n arranged a great setup...like separate place where we could just be away from da rest like it was small flower made hut which was innovatively decorated by candles all around n lodz of flowers..n table da center n big candle..which made me n my wife feel very spl...n after dat greetings at our arrival n suspense for da gift.n den cherry on da cake was food...trust me it was yummy..national as a well as international dishes prepared by da well trained chefs of da restaurant. . served on da table..wid professional service ..In short it was da day wich me n my wfy will never ever forget...will sure cherish for lyf...so now I m gonna end by saying...a big n heartFelt thku to "Chief Restaurant" n it's owner n staff...u guys made my day very very spl...thx for lovely gesture n service..looking forward to visit dere again n hoping will get da same warm welcome n service 1ce again...cheers!!!!

Yes, these are the few USPs of the place I went to have lunch on my trip to Naina Devi Ji. Chef’s Restaurant & Bar is immensely famous place in Nangal for its aforementioned points. I had ordered Cold Coffee, Spring Roll, Cheese Fingers, Chilly Mushroom and French Fries. Honestly, when I had placed the order, I never expected that the food would be so darn good. I would highly recommend Spring Rolls & Cheese Fingers. They don’t have much variety when it come to cuisines but I bet they make delicious whatever they have in their menu. Staff was polite and quick and check all the must have check boxes when it comes to hospitality.
I would highly recommend to take the seat by the river with awesome oceanic sounds and amazing scenery. To top it all off this is one of those budget eating places which doesn’t burn a hole in your pocket and you came out happy and well fed. Jai Mata Di 👏
Dine in with the view. Amazing view, you can see nangal dam while dining at this place. Great location but food sometimes is good and sometimes not upto the mark.
Visited this restaurant after more than five decades, on our way from Delhi to HP. It was an emotional nostalgic experience for me.
I vividly remember visiting this restaurant often as a small child, along with my parents, during our visits to Bhakra in late 1950 and early 1960s. I also remember that spread over beautiful lawns, It was primarily an open-air restaurant during those days, with an excellent location by the side of the lake and canal. The locationional advantage remains, but the existing condition of lawns left much to be desired.
If my memory serves me right, the restaurant's name was just 'Chief's Restaurant' in the earlier days, and it also has undergone change.
We had our lunch here, and all the dishes were well cooked and very satisfying.
It hurts me to downgrade the rating of this iconic restaurant by a star because of it needs better maintenance.
We had tasty burgers and fries here and the salt and pepper corn was delicious. The view is great and our table was comfortable in the shade. For a beer bar, they do not have a great selection of beer, but other than that, it was lovely and reasonably priced.
We stopped here on the way up to dharamshala and again on the way back down. Both times the food was well presented, hot and delicious. Majority of the front of house staff speak exceptional english, and are extremely welcoming. Good, clean toilets. Brilliant choice of indoor and outdoor seating.

Best thing about this restaurant is the location, you will get the view of the dam. Food is good with good service
Beautiful place right by the Nangal Dam on the banks of Sutlej river. Going by the favourites i.e. FISH, we ordered Fish Fry, Fish Tikka, Fish Fingers, Chilli Fish, Fish Masala and Jeera rice on the side. Everything tasted very good and fresh especially the Fish Tikka which was a group favourite.
Must stop by if passing through Bhakra Nangal.
The place is great, The views are really great from the restraunt. The interior part has a good feel and ambience to it, The exterior seating is great too. You can see the river along the road and the showpieces are great too. The food preparation is great and specially the non veg dishes. Deserts are also very nice. Its a must visit place if you go to nangal. Basically if a person wants to spend a great evening or afternoon must visit with family or without family both are up. The one star is missing because, if the following reason:
> The washrooms are not very nice.
> Waiters uniform should have been a little bit better.
> Cleanliness could have been a bit bettt too
All in all best for having food and spending some quality time
The prices are good, and the price of the food is worth it.
Great place must visit
There is only one, but unequal in ambience anywhere around, restaurant in my home town. The Chief’s since 1954. A lot of memories here since school time. It’s best for outside sitting, gazing at the Bhakra bound Sutlej river/canal, during evenings. The food is tasty and I’ve always been a fan of their cheese chilly. Their decor has been upgraded on the inside and it’s a more refreshed feel now. However, their lawn sitting needs better maintenance and much needed upgradations since years. I give 5 stars to the experience and ambience, barring the infrastructure.
Overlooking the canal, on a small raised hill this place gives you authentic vintage feel and views. As you dine under the skies and look around with the gentle breeze flowing around you, you forget your worries for a moment.
One of the speciality of this place is its fish. The grilled and the fried fish and chips are cooked to perfection. Tender white fish with none of the oily and fishy smell. The snacks are a delight!
Moderately priced, this place is must visit in Nangal.
