This is located at Assam bhavan, Vashi...it serves Bengali and Assamese dishes apart from some Chinese preparations...went there to have lunch and opted for a veg Assamese thali and an Assamese fish thali in which you get unlimited servings of the dishes u like...I liked the preparations since they were something new to try...Plus the place is neat, well ventilated and gives you a hint of Assam...not a very fancy place but a homely one...may be that's why I enjoyed my meal more...
Assam bhawan is located just at the cross roads of the Inorbit mall
The Restuarant is on the first floor of the Assam bhawan this Restuarant Bhogdoi caters normal Assamese food. The ambience is perfect the staffs are good
I did visit this place during Durga Puja at the Assam Bhawan and therefore I had tried there version of chicken Thali
Now about Assamese food it is not a category of Bengali cuisine , Assam food and Bengali food are different the way of cooking the way to present the spices which are a bit different but in this restaurant the service catered are almost the same . Most of the thalis have a Bengali taste to your pallet , yes two sides that were provided in the thali were bit of Assamese.
The fish thali was good as well as the chicken thali now bot the fish thali and the chicken thali have the same sides except the fish curry which was thick mustard sauce mixed with certain blends of spices I cannot explain you the taste
But about the chicken curry it was so so now I don’t know how Assamese like their food but it was light on taste
You can try it
Ambience-good
Taste- Average
Location- perfect
Price- perfect
You can try out the different thalis and there type of payasum is not so good
I mean it had just blowed off my mind of what is actually is payasum
My friends had opted for fish thali but the satisfaction level in their faces was not something to encourage those are not the fresh catch daily ( fish) so better opt for something else
Any way it’s a good casual dining if you are in Vashi and you are craving to have Assamese or Bengali or a blend of both the culture in your thali to satisfy your hungry pallet.

Simple decent ambience of old fashioned canteen where 90's bollywood music playing in background. Completely Assam Govt owned Building n premises.
I ordered Mutton Jeera Zaluk Thali n it was fabulous. Spicy curry n so does Red Chilli Thecha. Good portion of mutton curry n rice which is actual main course.
Other items in thali were in small quantity n I appreciate that concern. So you can really enjoy your Mutton very well.
Kheer was nicely prepared n kitchen looks clean n tidy.
Ayurvedic medicines shop is also inside Restaurant with a cupboard showcasing their products.
Awesome taste and service. Especially the sarson gravy that savoured each of the 5 people in my group who had dinner there. Must try any dish aith sarson written besides it. For 5, a 2 course meal costed 800₹. Will visit again.
Bhogdoi restaurant is housed within the Assam bhavan at Vashi. The restaurant has a very down to earth local Assamese eatery look and feel.
Food here at Bhogdoi is very tasty and easy on your pocket too.
Must try at Bhogdoi is their Assamese Fish Thali( Rohu or Katla) that is if you are seafood fan.
Even if not the odds are that you would become one soon.
Chicken biryani, chicken Chilly dry, mutton zeera zaluk, please do try these must haves too, given your tummy can make some space for these.
Polite staff, good food and a simple warm decor makes this place atleast a one time visit, for you to make frequent visits of this quaint restaurant.
pros
1. ambience gr8 @ nite
2. price is v less
3. walkable distance from Vashi station
4. taste of kadhai paneer(not printed on menu but available) is gud
cons
1. thali taste not good
2. service slow
3. dal fry taste ok-ok

I was badly missing Bengali home-food, and Assamese cuisine is as close as it gets; so I tried Assam Bhavan for some Bong food equivalent. Their canteen, Bhogdoi is on the first floor; neatly decorated, with specials mentioned in the board. The names that got stuck in my head, were ''Fish Tenga'', Chicken Zeera Zaluk & Kannir Dum (Assamese Egg Curry). Eventually I ordered them all & even though the last two preparations are really good; the fish-tenga scores over the rest, simply because of it's simplicity. For the uninitiated, Fish-tenga is a simple Tomato based soupy curry (jhol); and you can eat it whenever, in sickness or in health. Therefore, Fish Tenga Thali is what I order when I go to Bhogdoi, almost every time. It comes with Dal-Rice-Veggies-Fish Tenga & ''Lonka Kasundi'' (A mustard preparation made with Chillies). They have the 'Fish Tenga' in Rui (Rohu) and Katla variations. Over time, I've learnt, not to order the Katla; because their Rui is usually fresher. I have also ordered Veg Thali at times, which comes with Curd & Sweet (Payesh). However, Fish Tenga thali is the closest I could find to the simple mom-made ''Machher jhol Bhaat''. And at times when I rue the complete absence of a ''Bongo Bhaban'' in Mumbai; the taste of Fish-tenga takes me home, or at least close-by. So, thanks to Assam Bhaban for Bhogdoi; you cure my homesickness.
Had gone for Sunday lunch. Service was OK. Had ordered veg thaali, rohu sarson, bombil fry and Assamese Chicken zeera zaluk. Chicken was tasty.
Fish missed the Bengali flavour.
Overall safe on pocket. Can try once in awhile...
An awesome place to have authentic food from the states of the East, the place was packed with folks from Assam and neighbouring Meghalaya Bhavan who find this place equally great and cost effective. The service is good and the items on offer are delicious. All in all a great experience
Had been to this place around 8 pm on sunday.it was empty....service is bad.food is awesome..tried mutton zaluk thali, also rohu sarson..was cooked well. the best part of this place is value for money..peeped into their kitchen it was clean and well maintained.i recommend this place
Who said in Mumbai you have to pay a lot to get good food. Super tasty food at a price which you can't believe. People from eastern India can taste a bit of home here. Keep it up guys.
A year and ago when I walked in @Bhogdoi to relish east Indian cuisine I was fuming with despair wondering how can someone call the food anywhere East Indian. The food was blnd tasteless and the experience a nightmare. However my recent visit to the same place took me completely by surprise. Not only have they refurbished the place but also worked hard to meet the expectation of Assamese nd Bengali cuisines and added a few must try starters like fish chop, egg devil, mustard fish to name a few. The food is tasty considering the low pricing. Good to see people flocking in from far to relish their redisovered dishes. These guys also does yoeman service to the society by providing subsidised meal for the terminally affected people. So every time you have a meal here a part if it goes to provide meal for such patients. So even if you want to help but don't have time you can help by having a meal here with your near n dear ones .Try their bengali Thaali, Rohu katla kalia or sorshe.Chicken jeera zaluk, etc.
This place offers you food which is equally home-made, if not, fully. The taste is equally good. They have Assamese & Bengali food as well. Since it's govt. backed, the price is really cheap & the food equally good. They are open till 11pm & situated inside the Assam Bhavan at Vashi, Navi Mumbai.
It's a nice place to have assamese/bengali cuisine at vashi. It's a state govt of Assam running canteen with Assam Bhavan and offers you home styled cooked food. Try fish curry and rice here. It's damn cheap and tasty.
I was recommended to visit this place by a lot of friends. So one afternoon I went here for lunch. The food was simple and tasty, it felt like home made food. Chicken biryani was delicious. First try at the Assamese cuisine was really nice.
Bhogdoi nice place to have authentic Assamese food. We had fish fingers as starters which were nicely cooked were tasty crispy and freshly cooked. Followed by Mutton Jeera Zaluk Thali and Rohu Tenga Thali which had authentic assamese flavour. It tasted as it should be well cooked and tender with all masalas leaving flavour in mouth. Finally the dessert gulab jamun hot and sweet (medium). Over all it was nice expérience.
An affordable answer to the home made food craving when away from home. I really liked the Bengali food and was really cheap. It is a bit tricky to find out the entrance, but once you reach, you wont be disappointed.
Nice place to have a good home cooked meal ... :) the food is good and light
Very friendly staff ... This place is worth a visit for the food and variety :)
I am going to Assam Bhavan for the last five years. Foods are simple , home made type, little bland. If you are searching for a less spicy budget lunch or dinner surely Assam bhavan is a choice. Try their most ordered regular meals like Assamese chicken thali which is quite similar to Bengali chicken. Better not to opt for hilsha or some uncommon items. I have some bad experiences. Lastly owner and the waiters are quite friendly . Specially for bongs its a good place to get a taste of home made food..
This place is slightly ahead of centre one mall in Vashi and walking distance from the station. Its not a very fancy restaurant, but one managed by the Assam bhavan. So you can expect authentic Assamese and Bengali cuisine. We had decided to head out here on the day of Saraswati puja to try some bengali thalis. Three of us ordered assamese thalis while my other two friends wanted to try the Bengali one. I must warn you that the quantity of the Bengali thali is a lot. What differentiates the two thalis are the addition of luchis, sweet dish, chutney and begun bhaja. The vegetable dishes were the same.
I had ordered the assamese thali Katla maach er kaliya. The fish curry was really good and cooked well. However I didn't really enjoy the vegetable dishes nor the dal so much. The begun bhaja we had ordered and the buttermilk was perfect. Having tasted the kheer and chatni from my friend's bengali thali, I think its best to choose an assamese thali and additionally order anything you like. The chatni was yummy, but the kheer lacked flavour.
I liked the place particularly because of the cleanliness, quick service, pocket friendly food and good fish curry. If you don't like mustard avoid the fish cooked with mustard as it is very strongly spiced. Would I want to come back for more? Maybe if I crave fish curry, yes.
I have visited Bhogdoi on two different occasions when the craving of home cooked Bengali or Assamese food got hold of me. The food is simple and delicious. I have tried their Assamese rohu kaliya thali and had bits of the Bengali thali ordered by a friend. Another friend ordered the Rohu sorshe thali and both of them left us very happy. We also ordered begun bhaja as a perfect accompaniment to the musoor daal that they serve. The prices are very light on the pocket and the service prompt and courteous.
AMAZING and reminded me of home food. One Sunday, when home food craving reached another level, my friend and I decided a trip to Bhogdoi, the restaurant of Assam Bhavan. Walking distance from Vashi Station, right opposite of Centre One Mall. We had the Assamese Fish Thali, which comprised of rice, masoor dal, two kinds of sabji, and fish(rohu) in mustard sauce, fish kalia. There was also this really spicy red chilli in mustard pickle which created a riot in the tongue. To end on a sweet note, we had soft and hot gulab jamuns. And best part is after such a divine meal, we endd up paying 120 bucks each. One of the must satisfying meals in Mumbai, Go for it if you miss Bengali/Assamese food!
Good restaurant. Great taste. Thalis recommend. Tried Bengali thali and chicken biryani. Good service. Nice place for a lunch. Food is good and also available at reasonable rates.
Hie.. Been there last evening.. Worth the travelling from suburbs to Vashi..
Tried the Veg Bangla Thali. You will love it only if you want to have some tasty ghar ka khana not fancy Punjabi food....
The Stars of the evning were
I-Tomato chutney:- Chutney had raisins, tomatoes with their peel. It was cooked such that the tangy, sweet & salty flavours were having a beautiful balance. It was killer with steam rice. I have got some parcel to experiment with some missi roti!
II-Bhaja- This is apparently not assamese but Bangla cusine. It is our humble aubergine(Baigan) deep fried coated in some very tasty thin spice mix(Imagine the thinnest possible coat of besan on a road side potato bhajiya. Thinner tahn That!!). It was just to die for. I have got a couple of pieces to be eaten as breakfast today!! :) :)
(The wedge seen below the puri in the centre of thaali is Baigan fry)
The other items were:
a) daal puri(deep fried puri with daal). I could get the taste of poori made with regular ghar aata kind of taste. Most restaurants now a days dont serve such pooris. Its a blend of regular flour & superfine flour(maida) for a balanced atste. It was refreshing to eat the authentic poori.
b) two vegetables; Chawlai(dry) & Toru, potatoes(gravy) - Couldnot get much of the difference to call is Assamese. The gravy was homely and decent to taste.
c) daal & steam rice: ok
d) kheer, dahi, papad: ok
The food is nice to experiment. It tastes little different due to different blend of the same indian spices that we use in our daily meal.
its worth visiting if you want to have a light authentic home made meal. The dinner for two costed only 200 (VEG)
ALL STRICT VEG POEPLE- They have only one kitchen and use utensils interchably.
Uploading the menu for your refernce :)
A Non AC restaurant situated inside Assam Bhavan serves authentic Bengali and Assamese food.
I went there for lunch and ordered Fish and Chicken thali which seemed quite reasonable for the price charged given that we could take multiple servings of rice. We also order fish fry and it was quite tasty too.
Though the vegetables served with the Thali needs more improvement they were quite bland given that we are Bengalis ourselves we felt it needed improvement
Great place to eat, quality if the food is very tasty. You will get surprised when you see the bill as it is very much lower to expect
Good, hygiene good served in both Vegitarian and Non-vegetarian options of fish, chicken, mutton as well as Paneer, Puri Bhaji, Chinese delicacy are good. Assamese thali very good

Bhogdoi is located in Assam Bhawan on first floor. Special offers are Items of Assamese and Bengali cuisine though other dishes are available. We took Assamese fish thali and chicken thali. Very economically priced, simple yet tasty food. The restaurant is neat, no frill decor. Staff is helpful and service is good.
Great North Eastern food at affordable cost. Ample parking behind the bhavan.
Excellent Bengali, Assamese thalis, starter chicken chilli fry. Authentic ambience of Assam. Strongly recommend for all who have visited Assam and Bengal.
Very good food at an affordable price
It’s an unassuming restaurant on the first floor of Assam Bhavan in Vashi, Navi Mumbai. There are no fancy decor or sitting arrangements, but the place is clean. Currently, may be due to COVID, only ‘Thali’s are available. The staffs are very polite & helpful. We had 1 Vegetarian& 1 Fish ‘Thali’. The quantity of food in each ‘Thali’ was enough for 1 person- they even offer you a 2nd helping of Rice & Dal. The service was quite prompt. The food was very simple & homely- I found it to be very comforting. And the price is very very reasonable. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an uncomplicated, soothing meal.
5 stars only because of the quality of food. The restaurant was not very neat & clean. Food was brilliant.
A great place for bengali-Assam style homely foom at the heart of Vashi, Navi Mumbai at a very reasonable price. A must explore retreat. Enjoy.....
LOVE the food. And the very welcoming staff at the counter, bless him!
Makes us regulars loyal to this restaurant since years now.
Wish the lobby manager on the ground floor was not rude and spoiling the otherwise positive experience though. OR wish the eatery had an independent entrance.
Bhogdoi deserves 5 stars but we just had to take way 1 star for having to deal with the unwelcoming hostile ground floor Bhavan staff on the way in/out
Nice authentic Assam and bengali food at very reasonable price. However they need to improve the restaurent ambience
Good place. Good ambience. Good food, very friendly staff. Hygienic
Part of Assam Bhavan on the 1st floor. During covid times the menu is very restricted to set thalis. The food is very simple and any Assamese or Bengali who is used to the cuisine will feel quite at home with the taste. For anyone looking for fancy stuff i think you will be disappointed. Very reasonably priced
Typical Assamese food available at a reasonable price.. Tea tastes soo good..
A mid- range Bengali restaurant with high quality food to be served at a very affordable cost in Navi Mumbai area. The service and ambiance in the restaurant is very average with a basic minimum upkeep. However Kitchen area is neat and clean and food served is tasty and authentic. For fish lovers, you should visit at times.
Very good place to try authentic Assamese cuisine. Typical Assam food menu at reasonable price. Restaurant is at first floor, mainly used by guests residing at Assam Bhavan. Some Bengali food options are also available.
Nice place for Assam food, and clean and decently priced.
