What to say about this delightful cafe in Shahpur Jat. I came here to get a taste of Bihari cuisine and totally fell in love with it.
The Baggia Basket which I had as starter was absolutely yummy and it kind of reminded me of Siddu from Himachal. Apart from that Litti Chokha and Champeran Mutton delighted our tongue and stomach with equal ease.
Will definitely come back here to explore more of Bihari cuisine!
If you really want to try Bihari cuisine then this is your place. The food is really worthy of every bite. The only hassle you’ll have is while climbing 4 floors. Super ambience, excellent flavours and good company makes it a great dining experience. It made me realise that Bihari cuisine is beyond litti. The staffs were very polite too. The fish chokha and champaran mutton is to die for. They really have a cosy and vibrant ambience.
Bihari food at it's best. Went after the lockdown. We ordered mathali thali in vegetarian and mutton thali(champaran) in non veg. Everything was great. Sweet little cafe to dine in with your loved ones. Don't go by the exterior, go inside and have amazing bihari food. Big fan.

One of the best places to try bihari cuisine. The staff will make your dine in experience even great. The restaurant provides good portion and would offer you extra chutneys if you ask for it. Do try their boondi on hung curd and fish chokha. They have recently introduced fish biryani as well which obviously tastes great. Lovely place for lunch with fam and dinner with friends. Also, they do have a rooftop sitting as well so you know it's a win win.
Pros:
Loved loved loved the food!!!!Authentic, rich in flavor, tasty and so so fresh! We ordered meat based dishes (chicken , mutton, fish) for a get together of around 10-12 people and the quality of the spread blew each one away! The fish biryani was a personal favorite (drooling) followed super closely by their chicken kebabs and mutton chaap. Puja Sahu who runs this place ensured top notch service .
Cons:
The delivery took a wee bit long but that could be because it was bulk order! To her credit, Puja herself followed up promptly and ensured all went well.
Food was good but the price little higher...1000rs for 2 person for tast ill give 5/5 and the embience 5/5 , and good place for hangout to very silent and relaxing place i would say.

Bihari cuisine is not only about litti chokha.This place is infused in all the traditional bihari flavours and aroma. Potbelly rooftop cafe started up in 2016, located in heart of South Delhi, shahpur jat, it imbibes the culture of bihar. Being a bihari was excited to visit this Delhi's first ever bihari cafe. It's on the 4th floor, and its kitchen is on 2nd floor, all the aroma rises up to come directly to your nose. Located on top of the building it has helical staircase that is rare these days, also gave a feeling of tree house situated in woods. Interior was so mesmerizing and photogenic that you won't stop clicking pictures. We only disliked the service. People were not polite enough. The food was all authentic. We savoured pakora basket, and pudina chicken pulao.
Can't wait to visit again.

The theme and the decor are not exactly in sync with each other as it is more like a cafe and less like a typical bhawan, which is actually a good thing I feel. On the similar lines, this bhawan also manages to give you the best service out of all the other bhawans. Very well trained, and courteous staff.
#Food:
•We tried litti chokha, the one I was most excited about. If you've a taste for it, you'll love it. Smokey in flavour, lip smacking in taste, and filling for two people.
••The poori basket, which had different flavours of puri served with one of the best sabzi you'll ever have. Personal favourite. A must try just for the sabzi. Though the quantity of sabzi is really disappointing. Hardly serves one.
•••Then their sattu cooler was just not my type. Try it if you too get curious when you see everyone having one on their tables. Ice tea saved the day though.
#Overall:
You'll not find any bhawan putting efforts in providing you with good service, but Bihar bhawan does and it leaves you with a smile. Do try once if you've a taste for Bihari cuisine or want to try out some legit litti chokha. I might not like to visit again but it deserves a try for sure.

I mean methodically awesome.
We tried various cuisine here. Since I belong to a Vegan category for now had assumptions that will my taste meets over here. It did.
All in all 4/5. I felt that your staff wasn't that quite prompt.
Chicken kaali mirch. Here the secret is the thickness of the gravy well mixed with the boneless chicken which gives a wonderful taste. Well served with onions and green chutney
Their Champaran Style Mutton was out of the world! We had phish fingers, which were amazing, especially the chutneys with the fries. Jhinga fry with rice was good as well. We ended our meal with Saffron Boomsi on hungcurd which was delicious!

Staying away from home and getting the homely feel that too in a cafe/restaurant is a worth go for the foods they serve and authentic taste the foods have. The best best Bihari cuisine to die for. The varieties of platters and starters are must try. Went with a group of friends for lunch. It was fun exploring and diving into so much of Bihar-ka-swad! Ever since I moved to Gurgaon I have wanted to visit this cafe with all the positive reviews I had heard. Every one of those reviews were bang on. The sattu pooris were amazing, the kadha masala mutton soft and succulent, the madhubani thali with the aloo dal sabzi was flavoursome. We wanted to try more dishes but we're already stuffed. Already planned want I want to eat on my next visit. The staff is courteous and when asked for advice help is selecting the right food options. They take care to check your spice levels.

Man i don't know from where to start. I literally fell in love with this place the moment i had first bite of their food. There non veg platters are on a different level. I loved there litti chicken it was a whole different level, a combination of lovely spices & tender pieces. Same was the case with bhuna mutton. They have lovely different type of breads available to compliment their spicy food. Moreover they have a lovely bright ambience to fill up the energy in you. Overall it was a great experience and definitely I'll be coming over again so it's a must try for all those who are in doubt. I had bhuna mutton platter, litti chicken platter, 4 types of puri, 1 special paratha, 2 cold drinks and it costed me approximately 1300/- with tax which i would say is very very reasonable for the amount of food i had there and quality i experienced.
I found this place by sheer coincidence. I had started doubting my choice as I climbed up the high stairs but the smell of the mutton reminded me of home and I had never before smelt it outside of my house. On reaching the top and reading the menu, I was surprised to find that it was a bihari cafe. The familiar names of the dishes made me nostalgic. I ordered the fish curry as I missed it the most and was awestruck to find that it tasted exactly like my grand mother's fish curry. When my parents visited Delhi, I took them there and saw the nostalgia flow through their eyes and their words. They loved the food and put away the spoons and ate with their hands like they would in their home town. The place is so authentic that it actually takes you back to Bihar if you've ever been there.
I love the food here. Reminds me of home. Every spices are sourced from Bihar. The taste is authentic and ambience is really Bihari.
But the issue is that how is the food so overpriced? The litti chokha that you can find outside any metro station for 30 rs. Same with pakoda and other snacks but mostly with litti. But I guess that's their business model. I really loved everything that was served. Ekdum ghar ka yaad aa gaya

One of the most satisfying lunches I've had on a Sunday in Delhi. This is coming from someone who grew up in Bihar only for the state to be divided into Jharkhand. But the food taste never really changed for me and getting to relish the same taste after years of staying away from my hometown feels splendid. I'd love to come back here every weekend
Amazing Bihari food we've had, we ordered Marua roti with fish chokha, aloo chop and sabud dana cutlet we also ordered khada masala chicken and it was absolutely amazing. The service was fast and prompt, thanks to Dilip for an amazing and prompt service.

Its a beautiful , serene place surrounded by greenery, away from the hustle of city lanes. They play good music, have a class of table services, and offer the most delicious Bihari food i have had, with perfectly blended coffees and ice teas. Very filling, finger licking taste, good quantity. This place u must visit. We had litti chicken choka, phish phingers, iced hazelnut latte, iced cappucino, mixed fruit and rhodendron/Tulsi iced tea. All very pleasing.

This cafe has a beautiful ambience and its speciality is authentic cuisine of Bihar. I ordered aloo kachalu whose taste i loved and along with it i had peanut butter oreo shake. The taste of the shake was amazing and its price was reasonable as well. To get a break from the clubs of hauz khas people should definitely try this serene little cafe nearby.

I visited this place years ago and fell in love with Bihari food. Came here again recently and I still think that their food is awesome.
Their mutton was awesome- really tender and flavourful. I’d recommend having what I had- khada masala mutton and mutton chaamp.
In seafood, I tried the sarso macchli. It’s good, but not for everyone. Do try it if you like kasundi mustard’s strong flavour.
The pakoda baskets are also great, I would recommend having that as an appetiser. In addition to this, their meetha lassi is to die for.
I definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for great food in a nice ambience (the ambience is really cute).
I have to say this deserves 5 stars man, the ambience is not really great but the staff and service is really good:). I never thought food from Bihar would be this tasty 😋. I’m really impressed though, we ordered “dana jhamarua thali” and “baggia basket” and it tasted heavenly, i don’t know if everyone would love it like i did, maybe “i was just way too hungry”🤷🏻♀️ meehhh who cares, the food was amazing that is all should matter:). I had read about this place in the top restaurant list long back but you know how difficult it is to find anything in Shahpur Jat. Years later when I was shopping for a friend, we decided to have lunch here. We had chicken curry with lachha paratha, loaded fries, mixed fruit iced tea and aam panna. Everything that we ordered was super delicious! Loved every bite and every sip of it. Maybe this was also because we were too hungry but the place offered the perfect combination of great ambience and amazing food. You also burn some calories while going all the way to the 4th floor.

Recently visited this place for dinner with family. We ordered fish fingers in the starters which were served with french fries. Fish fingers were fresh and very tasty. We ordered Litti chokha and khada masala chicken meal for the main course. Littis were served with chana dal, aaloo and baingan chokha which were very good. Chicken dish contained heavy amount of spices causing kind of bitterness. Makhana kheer was excellent. Overall, good experience.

Visited this place for the first time. And all I can say is it was pretty great.
The staff. The music. The food. The drinks.
We had two lemonades, a plate of phataka french fries and chicken pepper sandwiches.
French fries were okayish.
Served with garlic and tomato paste. Which were mild.
The sandwiches though, were a game changer. The chicken was so soft and juicy and the cheese overload, it was a bomb. We loved it so much we ordered packing two plates for our home.
The staff were helpful.
The music was mild and nice. Not too distracting.
One advice though - If it's not obvious, this place is not very big for snack time. As in you have a lot of snacks, but if you want the best value for your time and money, lunch or dinner is the time to be here.
If I had to rate it, this place is 4.5/5.

Talking about Bihari food, we can only think of Potbelly Cafe. With large windows this rooftop Cafe has an abundance of natural light and air. Colourful and vibrant walls filled this placewith positive vibes. You will have to climb a strenuous stairway upto the cafe but after tasting the food you will not mind it.
We had "Khada Masala Chicken" :- Chicken stew was tender and properly cooked in sensous aromatic and flavoural khada spices. It was spicy yet mind boggling. Served well with salad, boondi raita and lacha parantha, a perfect authentic bihari food.
"Scrumptious Cinnamon Apple Cake was light and fluffy, loaded with fresh apples, and topped with a crunchy cinnamon sugar layer.

A small and an amazing cafe. The interior and the facade of the cafe is so nice. So airy with amazing wall arts. The menu might feel different for once as it’s so bihari. But I had one of my favorite bihari dishes here baggi basket which was so good.
The ambience was so conducive and confortable. I really liked the service as well being from Bihar/Jharkhand myself, the food took me back to my home. I had bihari friends in office. When i first joined office, i had bihari food here in potbelly and become of it. It serves u authentic bihari food. I just love it. Only the quantity was less. But overall ambience and food is good.
It's a decent place to enjoy Bihari cuisine. They have 2 outlets, there is one inside Bihar Bhawan, Chanakyapuri. This place serves the famous litti choka, daal bhaat, sabut daanan puri, sattu paratha, & more. The taste is delicious without any complaints so far. I have tried their both outlet and they both have good taste.
The only thing about this outlet is - it's very compact for bigger groups. The entrance to the restaurant is so risky that you can't imagine if there is any emergency situation (just in case).
The entire street is like that only which is really unfortunate. There is a free parking just 200 Mt from the restaurant. Located on 4th floor with a very tiny staircase. The roof top is too small that can takes only 10-12 people.

In the magical fashion Street of shahpur jat, a small village with lots of fashion stores and when you get hungry after you shopping you can find this gem. Awesome place to hang with your family and friends. This place have some great ambiance. They have both open n AC area, but I think they not maintained properly the open area, so you should go with the AC area. All though it is difficult to find out the cafe and reach over the roof top as the stairs are very difficult to climb that to for 5 floors, but after reaching there you will forget the hard work as hard work always pay off and every Bihari (peolple of Bihar) knows it better. They are among only restaurant who can serve you truly authentic food from liiti chokha to khada murg to aam Panna. In the open area service is slow and in my case they even forgot that they have customer over there, I have to call on their landline to remind them. Food cost is a bit higher side, but the taste and ambiance pays it off

Masala Fries with Keema is my staple starter here. The fries are starchy and the keema is spicy. It'll make you go to your glass of water often but your tastebuds would be hooked to the delicious flavours!
This time around, our server recommended the Khada Masala Chicken with rice. The chicken was tender and juicy and the gravy was amazing. The mix of spices used in creating the dish was incredible, spicy yet bursting with flavours.
I would also like to mention their Aam Panna. It's one of the most genuine and refreshing versions you can get in Delhi.
Prompt service, spicy food and reasonable prices make up for a good regional dining experience!

Things that I like - food is very tasty and unique, portion size are decent for most dishes (I have tried most of them), good ambience, friendly staff, very clean and hygienic. My fav are sarso machli, litti chokha, puri basket, mutton ribs. Even the cooler are a high point, don’t miss them. What is don’t like - it’s in Shahpur Jat, difficult to find parking during day time. The restaurant is on fourth floor with cramped and steep steps- some people may find it difficult to climb. I was curiously looking for some authentic bihari food then luckily, I got to know about this restaurant. I swear I was so thankful to my friend who suggested me this place. I ordered khada masala chicken along with aam panna and makhana kheer, it was so delicious (my mouth is still watering :p). And my urge for bihari food didn't come to an end that day, I visited again next day amd I ordered bihari burger which was so filling and tastilicious. For starters, the food is amazing. Amazing! We had pakora basket and pudina chicken pulao. Both were finger licking! The pinapple upside down cake was great!! The only downside is the four flight of stairs that you need to climb! But the food is worth the effort.

Amazing,amazing and Amazing,this is the only way to describe the quality of food here. Tehri,Veg Biryani, boondi with Hung curd,Alook chop with Sabodana, it's all Indian food at Best. Have travelled extensively across the globe but this food is something very special. It has become my Thirth Sthan when ever I visit Delhi from Bangalore. It's a must try place.
Excellent cozy roof top restaurant, the ambience is simple and soothing with a lot of greenery around you.
Coming to the food, we had Daal pitti, veg thali and khada masala mutton. The service is quick however the quantity serves one, so if you are coming in a group order accordingly.
The taste is good, authentic taste of Bihar, a must visit place.
The place is really very nice. The food is so delicious, but it's a little overpriced. The service was very nice. The quantity of the sabji is platters are very much, that can be reduced a bit. I had litti chokha, which was very delicious. Must try their Maithali thali, it's very tasty. The behaviour of waiters were very nice and friendly. Always opt for mineral water over regular water because regular water had chlorine taste.
A place for die hard fans of food. I chose those words because the food here is so delicious that one climbs 4 set of steep staircases just to eat here. You must visit this place in minsoon because view from the green rooftop is indeed amazing. I was loosing my faith in The Potbelly but this visit again made me a fan.
Vegetarians must try their Maithli and Madhubani Thaali.
Absolutely mind blowing!!! Every single item is sooo freaking delicious, so well cooked, and wholesome. A friend who has been visiting here forever took me and boy didn't disappoint an iota. We ordered full combo thalis and shared. Their refreshing drinks too are just spot on. Highly recommending this place and will go back for more next time I am in Delhi.
Note: It's on the 4th floor and no lift, so recently they have opened a space on the ground floor for those who struggle with stairs :)
Delicious food and a beautiful ambience. But most importantly, one of the most kind and humble staff. When I asked them for their recommendations, they very passionately explained the dishes and how they are prepared.
I had a Dana Jhamarua Thali and it was amazing. My only exposure to Bihari cuisine had been Litti Chokha prior to visiting Potbelly, so this was a very new and unique taste. The rice flour roti with poshta dana is so good.
Will be definitely visiting again.
Just a note, it is a rooftop cafe without any elevator. You need to climb four flights of stairs to reach the place.
Been visiting this since 2010 and even after over a decade the charm of this restaurant doesn't fade away. The Maithili thali is love, you can try anything from the menu.. It always taste great.
The dishes are from Bihar, hence you will find chatakh swaad khana. Indeed not a place to miss if you want to enjoy good food while talking to your friends.
They do not serve liquor and there are no dance floors in case you are looking for that ambience this is not the place.
This place is for those talkative friends and family who love to chit chat over food and have fun.
It has always been a 5 star place for food for me.
This place should be a must visit for everyone in love with the Bihari cuisine. The taste is authentic and the flavours stand out.
Food was really good. I ordered paratha chicken, paratha mutton and for dessert, I ordered banana cake.
And the food really had the flavours of bihar. If you miss home then surely you can visit this place. Homely food.
Ambience was also pretty nice.

It's a hotel in Shahpur jat providing food of Muzaffarpur Bihar. When I went in evening, the restaurant was empty and I am the only person. I ordered a 4 pooris + sabji, with my request they provided 4 different types of pooris. The food is quite costly. 462 Rs for 4 pooris. 400 mentioned in menu + 40 service charges+ taxes. Overall Okayish
