Every pot belly in the city is great but I personally love Bihar bhawan pot belly ! It’s so warm and feels like home , food is amazing for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.. one must try their Thalis and mutton curries ! Fish dishes and snacks are great too!!
The Potbelly
The family loved the Bihari litti.
Staff could have been courteous.
Loved the food. Have tried the poori basket and the chicken khada masala with naan. Also the ambience was great.
Thanks to this restaurant for bringing the Bihari cuisine close to Delhi..they had their first outlet in Shahpur Jat, now they also do in Bihar Nivas and for the Gurgaon crowd also they are in new hotspot of Gurgaon 32 Milestone with a pinch of Divine..Tried many items their starting for Thali..their are multiple options for Veg and Nonveg Thali with variety of dishes..one dish which stays in mind is Khade masale ka chicken and Ahuna Mutton Chaap..typica khade masala preparation with Mustard oil..highly recommened and trust me you will start loving Bihari cuisines beyond Litti Chokha or Chamaparan Handi Meat type of dishes also!
Well the place is located in bihari society in chanakyapuri. The ambience was very soothing and the place looked very clean. We ordered:
Bun cutlet starter - 5/5 delicious, served with sabudana vada and cutlet
North Indian thali - 5/5 4 pooris served with delicious matar mushroom sabzi..
The place is a must visit!
Amazing Food! Must try the Chocolate momos!
Visited Potbelly cafe for thr 1st time and I thing, I am going to visit this palce again very soon.
This place has amazing Bihari Cuisine and desi flavour.
I ordered Khara masala Chicken plater and I don't remember eating anything this yummy. A big thumbs up to this place.
Authentic Bihari food with spacious seating, and amazing location chanakyapuri bihar niwas. This was the first time o tried this cuisine and we ordered
Litti Chokha obviously
Mathali Thali
Pakora Basket
Cold coffee, apple cinnamon ice tea, lemon tea super tasty.
Cooked in mustard oil nd good to taste. Quality is very very good nd one thali can easily be shared between 2-3 people. If this is the authentic taste then its defintly worth trying. Pocket friendly
It has a fine dine kind of an atmosphere with good services. There is a lot of greenery around the place. Talking about the food we had litti Chokha and puri Basket. Litti chokha is must to try when you are trying bihari food as it's a trademark dish of bihari food. It was served with aloo and daal. Food was balanced as all the items in the plate served different and complimented taste. Puri basket had three different kinds of puri filled with sattu along with pumpkin sabzi, boondi ka raita and some pickle with mango chutney. Overall, it was my first ever experience of bihari food and I really liked it. It billed around ₹600/-

Hello everyone,
The best i like the most is the location and it have a beautiful garden view as well that so with outside sitting arrangements.. must try dishes are biryani and tikki..
This is a beautiful place with such beautiful delicacies from the state of Bihar. As much as I was tempted to try everything on the menu, we could only have select dishes and all of them were simply delightful. The taste is so refined, so simple and yet immersed in rich flavours. I believe this is must visit for folks who are on Dilli Darshan. The place has a beautiful view of an open garden with monkeys wandering around who are just peacefully engaged in, well I guess, monkey chores and are not a bother at all. Delhi has indeed the perks of being a capital with such diverse celebration of food and culture. Cannot help but hope to have Potbelly in Bangalore too!!

Honestly this was my first time trying out authentic Bihari food! I usually eat meat when I go out but at Potbelly I ate their delicious “Shakahaari” food complete with Litti Choka, Dal, multi color puris and mirch paratha. Their meal is delicious and more than filling!
Being a Connoisseur I love trying out different cuisines. I have tried out quite a few cuisines across various regions in India but had never really tried out Bihari Cuisine. I had never come across any restaurants that were dedicated to Bihari food, so when I found out about The Potbelly I decided to give it a shot. The Potbelly is located at Chanakyapuri inside the Bihar Niwas so you will basically have to go inside the Bihar Niwas. Since there is no board outside it sometimes gets difficult to find the place.
Oka so, I had a great experience at potbelly.. They have another branch in hauz khas too..
Well, they have amazing service and beautiful decor.. We ordered loaded rolls with paneer, phataka French fries and they were great too..
Staff was very polite also, their menu is quite reasonable..
Would highly recommend if you love to explore the bihari cuisine.

The potbelly is one of the best restaurants i have ever visited so far. Must visit here to get authentic bihari cuisine and this place has indoor and outdoor sitting facility with a pleasant ambience and good food.
1. Ordered Madhubani Thali, Champaran Style Mutton Thali and Fresh Lemonade.
2. The Mutton Thali comes with a reasonable serving of mildly spicy champaran style mutton (largely boneless) along with moong dal parathas, onions and bondi raita.
3. The tender meat tastes great.
4. Food is served within no time despite the restaurant being crowded.
5. Staff members are very polite and pricing is reasonable.
Ambience was very friendly
Dishes were tasty and will fill you up
😘🥰😍
Very peaceful and happy place ❣️
The food was unexpectedly great.. now I am looking forward to the next time I get the opportunity to visit this place again.. Bihari Burger was just too remarkable

Love everything about this place-staff, seating, food. Keema goli, ranchi pulao, maithili platter, sabudana vadas etc..and their iced teas. My goto place always..tried the desserts this time and loved them! Love the essence of mustard oil and the pungent taste it adds to the food..reminds me of home. Special mention to their chutneys(flax seeds, aloo, parwal etc)
Was waiting to try out this place for so long. Having my natives from Ranchi this was always on my to try list.
Like the decor and vibe, very earthy. Tried their chicken with lithi. Was yum no doubt!! Full of flavor, spices. The aloo, baingan ka bhurta and lithi. Was all just perfect 😍
Aam Panna was very refreshing.
Service and staff is good. Pricing is also decent. Coming here again with my folks for sure!
Some music would be lovely.
The Potbelly is one of the best family restaurants I have visited so far. Vibrant ambience and warm staff along with lip smacking Bihari cuisine proved a perfect blend for a hearty brunch. As my friend mentioned 'Ghar jaisa khaana par ghar se accha'.
Prompt service would have been appreciated. But offer of complimentary paalak poori neutralized it.
Potbelly will remind you of authentic bihari food.If you're living in delhi since a long time but you belong to UP or Bihar, chances are that you'll get nostalgic here..ambience is amazing with ample seating area. I ordered a bhojpuri thali which had paneer aaloo sabzi, flax seed and mustard chutney and pooris. The pooris will instantly remind you of your home! The aaloo tamatar ka chokha will sweep you off your feet with the authentic mustard oil in it! I guess it's the only place in delhi where you'll get pakoris instead of pakoras! 😉❤
The place is located in Behind yashwant palace. They serve North Indian and Bihari food. The food is quite delicious. Champaran mutton and Chicken Pakor is a must try. Liti Chokha too we loved. It's not a high end place but the ambience is quite decent and I found service good as well. Overall, I loved the food and I would visit again to try some other food next time.
#authenticcuisine #supertasty
I have had bihari cusine at a no of different places and I must say this place has come the closest to replicating authentic Bihari cusine. Everything I had was absolutely fresh, hygienic and lip smacking. The taste was perfect and the quantity too is upto the mark. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone .
Really nice cozy place..loved the ambience as well as the food..we ordered makhana thali,Tehri pulao, sabudana basket, mixed fruit ice tea, rhododendron tulsi ice, sattu cooler and banana chocolate chip cake with ice cream..everything was really good..we especially liked the makhana sabzi and tulsi Ice tea...the cake was good as well..overall a good experience..would love to visit again to try out more stuff..just the staff needs to be little more prompt otherwise it’s a place worth trying and especially now as winters are approaching
Simple & attractive restra. Taste is too gud. Must try litti mutton & fish finger.
This place has a fine ambience , the staff is polite and food is Hygenic (obviously) . Well if you are familiar with Bihari cuisine then you will be little disappointed because the litti chokha isnt that savoury i guess its because they dont use the traditional wood fired oven. The aloo chokha was also satisfactory ,the lentils were good. The place is a bit pricey but the ambience wont make you feel. Food Hack tip - take away costs less than eating there due to gst. Enjoy your evening with your loved ones , Jiya ho bihar ke lala.
The food was so good that I legit forgot to click pictures of all. Loved it being a fellow bihari myself, couldn't have done any better
Food was delicious. Reminded me of my home. This place offers authentic Bihari dishes. Mutton was so good. Loved the place.
Nestled in the quiet streets of Chanakyapuri, on the ground floor of Bihar Niwas is this family friendly, unassuming restaurant. I would definitely recommend this place for it's service and food. The ambience is great for catching up with friends and family over a plate of delicious Litti Chokha. The restaurant also offers a good variety of non-vegetarian options with an assortment of mutton and chicken platters and curries. All of the dishes in Potbelly are quite spicy and filling :)
Food tasted really good. Ambiance is also very pleasant and good.
Food is little expensive but we can try once.
Ekdum Bindaas Bihari Restaurant.
We tried Litti Chokha, madhubani thali, tarkari thali, lalu aalu chop etc.
And were blown away by its taste.
Must try place
Ambeience and crowd is good, It's in front of a small green field which makes you feel close to nature, and the food is delicious. Do try Chura ghughni and puri basket. Mutton must have!
Visited The Potbelly to relive old memories of the place. A lot has changed in the last few years. There was some official buffet and all the restaurant staff seemed to be engaged in it. Coming to the service, it was slow and the staff looked less attentive during the lunch hour.
Food, as always, was amazing. I ordered Makhana Platter with Oreo shake, which was finger-licking-good.
We ordered Makhana Kheer at last, full of cashews and kesar, whoch added a flavour to the dessert.
Ambience - 3.5/5
Food - 4.3/5
Service - 3/5
Overall experience - 4/5
It's a nice hidden gem in area very less explored. Might be popular among political people but very less known and explored by delhites. Nice ambience, you can't expect more. I was slightly amazed 1st by set up, as I ve been to other canteens run by state houses, it's beautifully maintained with green outside. Ordered two things today, khada masala mutton and fish n chips. Both were excellent. I will surely visit again to indulge in flavours of bihar esp fish and mutton.
Everything on the menu has the authentic taste of Bihar. Brings back the memories. Well cooked, spacious and active service. Litti mutton is outstanding.
The Potbelly ,
This Cafe is located near Yashwant place, Chanakyapuri. Ambiance is good. They have indoor, outdoor seating arrangements, we chose the open seating outside. Quality of food is really awesome, food preparation is good and authentic. Chicken pakora was very good here. Staff was courteous and attentive. We enjoyed this place. Overall a good experience
The place is the unique blend of authentic Bihari cuisine with some modern day drinks. The place has an exquisite ambience and it is very good with the outside sitting area available here. The food is just absolutely delicious and tasty. I highly recommend this place.
Their best dishes are absolutely brilliant - litti chokha, champaran mutton, khada masala, etc. However, they are severely constrained by a very small wait staff, lack of accompanying beverages, lack of starters or desserts and just a single toilet for men and women: all for the price of a expensive high end restaurant comparable to any in the rest of South Delhi.
Exotic Bihari Cuisine———Pathetic service; overall a 4star experience for food taste and quality
Must try : Chicken Pakoda , Fish curry, Mutton Champaran and Chicken dishes
The Potbelly Cafe is in Bihar Niwas and it serves Bihari Cuisine with a twist. One can actually taste the pungent flavour of mustard oil in the food giving it an entirely different taste.
Their ambience and seating is awesome for a Sunday Brunch setting. The service is quick and the servers are prompt and polite.
Sunday afternoon sees a lot of rush but luckily we were there by 12.40ish so we were able to score a table.
I ordered Litti Chicken, Rhododendron and Tulsi Iced Tea, Mutton Champ with Lachcha Parantha and Phish Phingers.
The food was simply delicious and i'm sure to visit this place again to try the other thing son their menu. #foodblogger #foodie #food ❤
Potbelly serves super delicious food.
I love their menu. It’s of the rarest cafes which serves such dishes. You get a wholesome meal in good price.
Taste is just excellent. I specially love the aroma of the food which clearly depicts how clean and healthy my meal is.
Highly recommended
I ordered-
Litti chokha- 5/5
Chicken kaalimirch- 5/5
Had a good lunch get together with friends with amazing food . Mutton & Litti choka is famous . Ambience is good , have a good time with good food .
What can I say about this place.. I would love to be here again and again (have visited often already).. I had no idea earlier that 'bihari' cuisine has such great food to offer.
Though writing this review very late, I have gorged on the food here on various occasions.
For starters, you can have pakora basket or sabudana basket.. Both are good..
You can never go wrong with Champaran Style Mutton and Chicken Kalimirch.. Simply great!
Mutton Chaamp and Golmirch chicken is also good to have.. Won't regret that either..
Rice lovers can ask for rice, but I prefer to have any of the above mentioned dishes with Sattu ka parantha.. Its heaven!
All this goes very well with Mirchi Masala lemonade.. Its different and great to taste..
You can also have sattu cooler, it's different from usual coolers, but bit heavy on stomach..
Another drink advisable is aam panna, but subject to availability..
Relish, fellow foodies!
Inside Bihar Bhawan is this gem, the Potbelly. If you happen to love Bihar food, you have to try this place. The ambience is great. Food is amazing. Ranchi Pulao, Maithali Thali, Tehri, Sabodana Basket, Litti Chokha are great dishes for vegetarians to try. Their Sattu Cooler is also amazing.
Overall great experience!!
Visited this place for a group dinner. The ambience is very good. The spread is good and the food tastes amazing. We especially loved the fish fingers and the cakes. The cakes are paired with vanilla ice cream, which is a unique combination. Also, I would recommend the lemongrass iced tea.
All in all a good experience. Value for money. Recommended.

Tarkari Thali - good

I discovered The Potbelly in Zomato's regional food collection. I have always been a fan of Litti Chokha and as per Zomato The Potbelly is the go to place for it.
We reached The Potbelly in Chanakyapuri expecting a rooftop restaurant only to find out that the rooftop version is in Hauz Khas.
Nevertheless, we were hungry so we ordered the obvious Litti Chokha platter and Tarkari thali. It tasted good and homely i guess. Nothing fancy. They served dal as well which was my favourite. I had had better chokha, but overall It was tasty and a must try.
Tarkari thali had sweet pumpkin dish which was decent.
Service was slowww even though it wasn't crowded much!
Ambience is ok.

Great place to relish a lunch with family. Great ambience. The main course is mainly in form of complete meal Thalis. Great Menu. However the service was a bit slow and the portion size is also a bit of concern. Overall worth try once especially litti chokha and masala stew chicken meal.
Located amidst the green avenues of Chanakyapuri in Bihar Niwas, this place is paradise for Bihari Cuisine lovers. Sattu is their main ingredient. This place is know for its dishes made of Sattu and Fishes. I had been there recently on a Sunday and had to wait for almost 20 mins. I had Madhubani Thali alongwith Litti Chokha. Both the items were tasty. I think the restaurant was a little too crowded, they need to increase the seating space.
Best place to be. If you are loved of Bihari food, delicious delicacy of Bihar and eastern UP is served in a modern way with the same taste
Best time to visit during rainy day for lunch
Had a great time
Not sure how many bihari food options are around the place but this one’s definitely worth every bite and penny.
Food: I ordered chicken litti choka and sarso fish curry. The trademark bihari dish, Litti chokha usually comes with chana dal but since I ordered for a chicken one, I lovedddd it. Not a huge fan of litti itself since I in general find it dry. Also accompanied by mashed eggplant and potato. If you’re a chicken lover. It is a must try. Anddddd, fish! It is probably the best fish curry I’ve ever had. It is high on flavour and perfectly cooked. Also I have a thing for curries. So, perfect fit. Fish comes with rice, so it’s a complete meal.
Drinks: I ofcourse opted for aam panna. Oh my god! Please please definitely give this a try. It is so refreshing that I ended up ordering two.
Service: You’d probably expect a better service. Though the order is quickly served. But in general you would end up looking for someone to help you until you stare for some time but it’s manageable.
Must try: Sarso fish curry and aam panna.
This place is located inside Bihar Bhawan. If you are from Bihar then this is your go to place and if you are not from Bihar then its must visit place so you can taste authentic Bihari food. It has a nice ambiance n nicer staff and the nicest food.
My First taste of Bihari food...
Must try the meat pakora basket, phataka fries with keema and Champaran Mutton...
Excellent dishes and taste though a bit heavy on the pallette...if you don't mind the ghee!
Come fasting entire day to truly enjoy....Give it 5 star rating overall...
Authentic bihari food.... Must try the variety of Puri s and mutton..... The outside garden will make for pleasant seating at night.... Specially in the winters
Simple yet so appealing..
Rather I would call it as a hidden gem!
I like this place for its simplicity and a unique set of cuisine. They have presented their Bihari cuisine in such an interesting manner.
When bored of typical Delhi flavours, go visit this place to have a fantastic and mouth watering experience!
No matter how many times I visit this place, my favourite will always be their poori basket.
Such a nice place to have bihari cousine...it costs around 1500 for 2 but a worth place to visit nd explore chicken stew, meat balls with poori nd fish curry
Food was good and taste was fair enough to relish. The Bihari cuisines were really good and visited this place at least 4 times in last year.
Had been to shahpur jat outlet but this is far better in terms of location.very calm n serene environment.litti choka was super awesome. Though chicken dish was ok. The service is pretty good.
Quite a place for dinner options.
Its a small set up with cozy ambience and some great food.
Do try the khada masala chicken, phish fingers.
The quantity is a little less for the prices but its worth an experience.
We also tried chicken kaali mirch and sarso wali machli.
Everything was great especially the chutneys that are served alongside.they are unusual and full of authentic flavors.
The decor is good. The service they provide is amazing. And the food is extremely good. I haven't tasted Bihari Cuisine in my life, but after i went to this restaurant, it felt good to taste the bihari Cuisine. The price they charge is worth the food they serve. The staff is kind and gentle and they have the knowledge for all the food item.
I really liked this place. There are 2 potbelly restaurants one is in shahpur jat village and the other in bihar niwas. My understanding is they are run by same company. Now I went to bihar niwas. They serve authentic good quality food. The mutton and chicken dishes are good. Not too spicy and oily. I had Makhana kheer that was also good. Next time will try Pua. Veg thali is also good. The chutneys were too high on mustard and I didnt liked that much. Overall good food, ambience, and service.
Went there for early lunch around 12 and it was empty.
Due to ongoing renovation we faced some issues with the entry and exit plus the view had construction.
We ordered Tehri, gugni, madhubani thali and bihari thali - the quantity was good and the sides were really tasty. They had amazing parval tamatar and alu chokha.
Tehri was full of veggis and amazing choka hua dahi.
The atmosphere was good and the service was also very good. The staff was also courteous.
The perfect place to have an authentic Bihari cuisine. The litti chokha platter is a must-try. Also the sattu parantha platter. The ice rose tea was also amazing. The Makhana kheer was tasty but overpriced as per the quantity. Rest all great.
Liked the ambience, authentic food from Bihar, good service. Though a balance between the food price and portion size if reviewed can go a long way.
Try delicious #Bihari food at #PotBelly Chanakyapuri. It's located right inside Bihar Niwas. There's a plethora of choices for both vegetarians and non vegetarians. 🌿
Food from almost every region and district of Bihar is available here. Must try if you love experimenting. 🙂
Ambience 9/10 😌
Food 9/10 🐟
Price 8/10 💸
Location 9/10 👍
A very nice place to enjoy authentic Bihari cuisines! The place has indoor and outdoor seating with a good ambience. Litti chokha platter is a must try.
It's a great find as the place is hidden inside Bihar niwas.
But they have a great menu and the food quality and taste is just too good.
The biryani was average but fish and other items taste so good.
My first time trying Bihari food and it was great. The prices were reasonable and the flavors delicious. The restaurant is located at one of the top floors, so be prepared to walk up a few flights. Once you get to the restaurant, the ambiance is pretty chill with good dinner lighting and unique book shelves located around the eating spaces.
Wonderful Authentic Bihari food, with variation in each dish. I would recommend Kathal Biryani. Great sweet dish too: Makhana kheer and Boondi Yogurt. Pua takes time, so preorder
Service was average but the food quality and portion was amazing.
I personally loved the place. I went to this place on a winter evening while the sun was still there. The outdoor seating has a perfect vibe for this kind of wheather. The tables face to lush greenery and an open green ground.
I felt a little lag on the part of service even when the restaurant was not fully occupied. Apart from that their menu was very impressive and had lots of different options which any food lover and anyone who loves to explore different cuisines would definitely like.
I ordered assorted pokora basket, soups and bihari french fries ( they were awesome ). Everything was tasty and came in ample quantity. A common side serving and a main serving for each individual will make a perfect and hearty meal for 2. The soup was very different and tasty in a unique way.
The restaurant is situated inside the Bihar state house, parking has to be done on road only as there is no dedicated parking for the restaurant but it seems fairly safe there. Also do visit the small handicraft shop on entry of the restaurant as they have some pretty cool stuff.
The cafe is located on the premise of Bihar Bhawan. Other Bhawans, like Goa and Assam Bhawan, are closely located to this one.
The food is authentic and of excellent quality.
Hygienic ambiance and fast services.
Staff if super friendly and payment can be made via cash/card/UPI (whichever you prefer)

I had a delightful dining experience at a restaurant offering authentic Bihar cuisine. The ambience was pleasant, and the service was excellent. The food truly captured the essence of Bihar's flavors. My only suggestion would be to consider striking a balance between food price and portion size to enhance the overall dining experience even further. Nonetheless, I highly recommend this place for an authentic taste of Bihar.
