The restaurant is small, but nice. You might be required to show your ID card while entering the campus, if you are only accessing the restaurant. It can be difficult to get a seat if you come at a busy hour. We visited on a Saturday and had to wait ten minutes to get a seat for lunch, and nearly half-an-hour to get a seat for dinner. Good variety of Maharashtrian cuisine. Ample quantity for the price. The shrikhand is amazing. Helpful staff.

CHEAP BUT AWESOME FOOD Andra Bhavan is good for food and guajrat bhavan has a nice service....but OLD MAHARASHTRA SADAN is combination of both....great food n great service...n it is never crowded ! Andra Bhavan is like fish market...I never felt relaxed there while having my food...n Guajrat bhavan doesn't serve Non Veg... Finally...I heard abt Old Maharashtra Sadan, copernicus Marg ! ( Dont go to new sadan on kusturbha gandhi marg) You will get awesome..veg n non veg Maharashtra ian food here... We tried Saoji chicken ( vidarbh special ) Kolhapuri Chicken Masala papad Chach Bhakar Service n Food ....5/5 ! Sometimes I feel like I wasted my money in Andra n Guajrat Bhavan .. Maharashtra Sadan (old) is the right place for spicy food ! If u r fed up with Delhi's Paneer...go to this place ...worth it...not very expensive !

The Princely State of Sangli had its Residency on the present location of old Maharashtra Sadan on the then Lytton Road, now Copernicus Marg. On 8th March 1948 Sangli State got merged with Bombay Presidency and hence this property, after abolition of the Princely States in 1951, was assigned to the State of Bombay. Bombay State was thereafter split into the new states of Maharashtra and Gujarat on 1st May 1960. With the creation of the Maharashtra State, all properties of erstwhile Bombay State outside the then Bombay State came to the share of Maharashtra and hence, the Sangli Residency was taken over by Maharashtra State and renamed as Maharashtra House. Construction of a modest guest house on a portion of Sangli Plot commenced in 1962 and completed in 1963. The barracks and stables erected on this plot during 2nd world war by Ministry of Defence were converted to quarters for the in-house essential staff of the Maharshtra House.

It is a nice canteen but most of the items weren't available. I have a suggestion that as we are north indians we don't recognise dishes with their maharashtrian name so it will be great if you can give your customers an option for a buffet this way we can choose from the variety.

Fantastic food with great service. The old Sadan is much less crowded than the new one so service is quick. Maharashtra style food was delicious, we tried three different mains and each one of them was super. Dessert was great too, especially Shreekhand. Being in the Sadan, the canteen is easy on the pocket too. Highly recommended

Went there for dinner. Relatively smaller space for seating, compared with the new canteen. Though, the food was tasty, it wasn't as better as served in New canteen. The staff was courteous. Dinner starts at 7, the place is budget friendly, with authentic taste. People eating non-vegetarian food were quite pleased. Definitely recommend this place of you want to taste authentic Maharashtrian food.
