Great Indian food in a very presentable environment.
We went to Mother India on a weekday to catch up with some out of town friends who were passing through. It was easy to get a reservation.
The food was very good:
- Rara Ghosht: dish that was very flavorful. Definitely recommended if you eat mutton.
- Paneer Lababdar: very tasty as well. Not too much cream and with good flavor.
Sweets:
- Gulab Jamun: nice, soft and warm. Must try.
Overall a good place where I think I would recommend going to with friends and family.
I am totally in love with this restaurant. Amazing food, amazing staff and best hospitality. I had Navratri thali and it was the best thali I had ever.
Vry gud place with brilliant interior...Food was awesome...A must visit place to visit wid ur frnds or loved once...I was surprised how peaceful it was... Everything was superb weather it's food, cleanliness, ambiance or hospitality...And of course music was too good...i really enjoyed those 90's golden songs...

Great place to have Indian cuisine. A great variety on their menu and equally good taste. Brilliant ambience that takes you right back to the golden era of 50's and 60's. Chettinadu chicken is a must try from their wide range of menu.
A must visit place with family and friends for fine dining. Great ambience,Tasty food and traditional dishes of all states. Like everything about Mother India.

"Mother India" as the name suggests , the food should taste like dishes with all the Indian spices. And it's absolutely true.

it is located on the outer circle at connaught place, which is easy to locate and there is quite a good parking space.

i was a bit dissapointed with the seating system, as i had already booked a table for 4 but on arriving at the exact time we still had to wait for the table and was given the wrong table which was not meant for us.
food
tandoori platter- amazing is the word for the dish. it was sueper fullfilling. the things on the platter was same as many places but there was something in the spices and the layering on all the items that soothened our taste buds.
dal makhani- just perfect as we can say
paneer lababdar-it was nice with minimum oil
there was just a little blunder with rotis which spoiled a bit mood of the lunch. we ordered 1 roti and 3 lachcha prantha and instead got 2 n half rotis and 1 n half laccha prantha. Although on asking they asked us to wait for a while for the correction of the order and asked us to keep that roti but it was too dry to eat it
overall it was a nice place and a must visit place for family .
The songs were suiting the ambience. It's a good dining place with quite ambience and nice food

This place is present in main Connaught Place. What I found nice about this place is the interiors and the menu.
The interiors are kinda cool, with old raw wooden gates and windows. The big walls of the cafe has got some interesting elements like gate, windows and shelves with books and different photo frames. This place is big. And what is unique about menu is that they have divided the entire menu into different zones, North, East, South and West.
The entire ambience and the location of the restaurant is good. A calm and spacious place to catch up friends and family. The hospitality is great
A very nice place to be with your friends and family. I generally refrain from trying new places but seriously now I wish that i should have tried this place earlier. The best part of this place is their menu which offers you cuisine from every part of India. Ordered Chowk ki gulati, Kastoori kabab and Murgh makhani Daryagarj from northern part of their menu. Everything was so perfectly cooked and tender.
A colonial style classy restaurant in outer circle, Connaught Place. The food is extremely tasty, and quantity is adequate as per standards of CP! We tried various mutton and chicken items. Daryaganj Ka chicken (Butter chicken) is really yummy. Mutton curries Bhuna Ghost and Railway mutton curry was tasty, but the pieces were large and very bony, not ideal for a fine restaurant. They should have cut certain pieces into two, which would have made it easier to handle. Our service charge amounted to 300+, but the service need improvement including the attitude of staff. I would give 4.5 star for food, 4 star for ambience and 3 star for service. The soup, chicken shorba we tried could need a bit of improvement in quality and quantity. But overall it's worth happy 4 stars.
I went to this restaurant with my friend. We went quite late it was about to close.
This restaurant have an amazing amazing ambience. Personally i love places like these. They have a retro theme, and the music they were playing was so mesmerising, that doubled the taste of food. I ordered beer (which was served chilled) dal makhni (one of the best dal makhni's I have tried) and lacha pranthas. Everything was perfect and the atmosphere was cosy. I'm a history lover and this place does complete justice to their theme.
I wasn't able to order Chicken that day, but I would love to try it. So will be visiting again.

We were looking for a quick bite option near railway station and it popped up as the nearest option, we had malai chap, kashmiri aloo and roomali roti and both were Okay. Chapp could have been better as it was very dry.
This place lives up to its name. It has total filmy feels. I came with my family here and enjoyed the food and the services. We ordered mutton rogan josh, butter chicken , Raita, Biryani and Dal makhni.

While the place is good and the food is great too, they are not accepting Zomato gold on Sunday. This is weird because they haven't even mentioned it on the page or given any updates. As a Zomato gold member, if I'm paying for the membership, I should be getting the perks too.

Serving Staff can be trained a tad better so that the Serving experience is in line with the Pricing of items n the relatively high Billed amount !
1. As a group of 12, we were seated on a corner table as requested and was a good starting experience.
2. Ordered a mix of Veg n Non Veg snacks and all were simply fabulous !! Dahi Kababs n Mutton Galauti kababs along with Ghee Roast Chicken deserve a special compliments !!
3. Under Main course , Dal Makhani n Railway Mutton were fab !! Butter Chicken can be improved for sure..
4. Umder Breads, Their Lachcha Parantha was out of the world ! I had one entire Parantha without any dish to fully savor the flavor of the Parantha as-is
While the Serving staff didn’t really mess up, they need to be trained and maybe dressed too, a little better, to compliement correctly the otherwise slightly expensive menu. Overall, a good new find for me. And I am definitely coming back while also spreading the positive word within my circles to must try this place once !

What a refreshingly new and cosy place. Mother India is quite different from the regulars in CP. The interiors are different but done up really well. The food is top notch and really delicious. The service is on point too. Definitely worth going to! The Butter Chicken was outstanding and so was the Malai Kofta!
Nice ambiance with rustic look. Place have beautiful lighting and images all around may give back some memories of 70s. Staff is helpful but not completely informed about dishes (allergic people get confirmed about ingredients directly from chef). Serving is decent but food is very rich. It is high on spices. curries felt like over cooked and you do not get the flavor of the vegetables. Overall decent experience.

I visited this place with my mom and sister for the first time today to celebrate my mom’s birthday! It couldn’t be any better to celebrate my mother India’s birthday here at this place! From the beautiful classic welcoming interior to the lovely music which made the ambience just perfect for spending quality time with family! It had a really calming atmosphere and very different charm to it unlike other restaurants! We went there bit late in the afternoon so we weren’t really hungry so we just ordered tandoori chicken platter and Hyderabadi ghosht biryani! And I loved the way tandoori chicken was done, properly marinated with spices not too dry just the way I like it! And the biryani was really made nicely as it’s aroma was lingering all around us! Overall I am glad that mom really liked the place and the food! So 👍🏻to this place!
Decent food slightly expensive. It's naga rolls are a must try. Even the achari paneer is delicious. However, the Biryani wasn't that great.

There are some places which you just enter and go 'Wow'. Mother India is one such place. With interiors reminding you of all iconic things India is made of: from history to Bollywood and a low volume song of the 70-80s era just takes you a step back. Coming to food, it is delicious and the serving size is decent as well. Do try the Kulchas here if you are a fan. Also the aam panna inspired drink will blow your mind (a must for summers in Delhi).
I went to this restaurant for luch with my family in the month of march . We ordered manchow soup, Palak Paneer and Malai kofta. Food was quite good in taste. However Koftas of malai kofta were too hard which we pointed out to the restaurant which they accepted

This restaurant is located in the heart of Delhi, Connaught Place. We all struggle to pick places where we can take our families because usually places these days are more for the young generation. But this restaurant will give you that old rustic and cosy atmosphere, which is perfect for a family lunch or dinner. The only thing we want them to work on is their mocktail menu, that was very average. They have a wide variety of North Indian, Mughlai and South Indian food options available. If you're taking your grandparents there who don't eat onion and garlic, they have a few options available for that too. We tried their Dal Makhan Wali, Dal Karnal, Bhatinda Special Paneer Lababdar, Aloo Jeera, Veg Hyderabadi Biryani and assorted breads.
1. Dal Makhan Wali - Amazong flavour and so creamy. Definitely recommended.
2. Dal Karnal - We ordered this Dal for our grandparents without onion garlic and they absolutely loved it. They finished the entire bowl of Dal.
3. Bhatinda Special Paneer Lababdar - This dish was recommended by on the waiters and the restaurant and oh my god, it was soooooo goooooood. Full of spices and that little bit of sweetness to balance out the flavours.
4. Aloo Jeera - Perfectly cooked potatoes with Jeera tadka, extremely yumm!
5. Veg Hyderabadi Biryani - They serve their Biryani with some cold jeera raita, the Biryani had that aromatic fragrance of all strong masalas, the rice was perfect and with the raita, it tasted so much better.

In there,i had the paneer tikka khaas khazana in starters which was kinda different from the normal paneer tikkas and for all good reasons.also tried angeethi ka bhuna bharta along with kadai paneer which were perfectly spiced and were pretty delicious to have.in breads,i tried the butter roti and butter naan which were good along with a garlic naan,which was strangely the best of all i ate there,simply because it was cooked that good! Apart from all this,i even tried their watermelon and apple mojitos and would suggest the latter variant to try out of the two.
And yes,if you like old romantic bollywood songs for a change then you would love this place even more ;)

Probably the best looking restaurant in Connaught place. The staff will serve with all their heart and soul. I went there for my parents anniversary and they didn't disappoint. The food was marvelous, especially the dal bhatti churma.

I had my eye on this place for a while until i finally visited with my family. Being an architect i tend to somehow judge the place as per the ambience out of habit. The interiors has a very rustic look to it, very colourful. We ordered north Indian cuisine assuming it would be a safer option. The food was okay and tasted normal like any other place. The presentation was good although they took a while to bring the food. The quantity was not sufficient with respect to the price. The staff was cooperative and friendly. Overall the place is okay and can be visited once in a while.
I visited Mother India for lunch on a Saturday. The place was not very crowded. We ordered Purani Dilli chicken tikka and Chilli potato for starters which were both good in taste and quite different. In main course we had Chicken lababdar with aloo kulcha and naan which were again yummy. We also tried chilli paneer with fried rice which was average. However we had gone to try their Bengali cuisine which was not available. Also the place had less servers which delayed the lunch a little.
It was having a great experience to visit this place in Navratri times.

I love their food . The concept is so unique, actually I visited their few days back with my father . I m confused to what to eat from menu because they have wide range of items in all over India .so I called to chef , and chef suggest me their galauti kebab and paneer tikka masala. I ordered spring rolls and honey chilli potato. Both were crispy as they should have been. The spring rolls were really great with a slight of cheese and other veggies. The ambience of the place is really nice with a unique type of decor.
This is such a unique place. The interiors are amazing, it really does give you a classy retro feel. The food is also outstanding. Slightly on the expensive side but I guess all the restaurants near Connaught place are a little needlessly expensive.
Visited this place today for lunch. The decor is truly amazing and has a very old world charm. The staff is cordial and friendly. I ordered kastoori kabab, rara gosht, rice and iced tea. Loved the food and presentation. However, the service time is very long and it took forever for the food to arrive. The service time is my reason for this rating, otherwise, I absolutely loved the flavorful food.

A fabulous place to dine in, and this places true to its name is like mother India with a variety from all the parts of India.
All regional food is carefully brought together on the detailed menu and they do keep up with the regional flavours too.
I loved the nadru k kebab made with lotus stem. Which is a kashmiri delicacy.
The dimsums are not to miss also the yummy dahi ke kebabs.
Talking about main course they have marwari South Indian and Kashmiri food. I love the laaal Maas and rogan josh. The paneer lababadar is really nice too. The dal makhani is always an essential.
Do not miss the kesar badam kulfi and Gulab Jamun for deserts.

Ethnic, peaceful, homely environment of an amazing restaurant with vast menu covering all part of India as name suggests Mother India. The decor of bringing antics together in Morden dinner was amazing. After seeing the menu, covering from every corner of india we were confused what to order as we wanted to try everything. So we ordered a Non Veg platter which had Mutton kebab, 3 types of chicken dishes and fish tikka. Taste of all starters were distinct and you can make out. Loved the fish tikka and malai chicken tikka. Chicken main course dish Mandi chicken curry was not tat great, it tasted as boiled chicken mixed in gravy which was disappointing, whereas the Mutton dish Bhunna Ghost was amazing. The gravy was thick and the taste was distinct. In bread I would recommend if you have sweet tooth then must try Kashmiri Naan, rich with dry fruits and amazing taste. Overall the experience was amazing.

*And the hospitality & service was upto the expected standards as well but charging a 10% service charge for that i feel is an archaic/outdated practise in 2019 because generally,people do leave behind a decent amount of tip in appreciation of the same ,so why take money for serving your guests twice this way?
either you shouldnt have service charge or you shouldnt accept tips of any sort for doing the same thing(hospitality/service),right?
Hence 1 star less,just for that one wrong,outdated practise of taking tips as well as charging service tax as well(which i declined to give because i would rather leave behind a tip if i would really love someone's hospitality but you dont have to charge everyone the same percent as different people can have different expectations and experiences from any xyz restro).hence 1 star less for this malpractise of accepting the old,traditional tipping as well as the modern concept of service charge for doing the same thing!
