Chicken chilly I got was unbelievably fresh and mouthwatering. Aka Saka is beyond doubt the best in Chinese dish and have never disappointed me!
Delivery was fast and efficient
Very good... well packed and delivered... taste was too good ... everything that we ordered chilly chicken/ noodles/ chopsuey was delicious...
will definitely order again
A good place to hang out when in def col market.. really good Chinese food here which they serve. Kudos to the team and keep up the good work.
The best chinese restaurant i’ve ever been to! The best dishes are chilli chicken, haka noodles and sizzlers. The staff is a little dilly-dally. It’s an expensive one though. Perfect for a date. I’d give it 5/5
The food is too good but the sitting area is too congested. It needs to be more open and proper ventilation should be there. Food is very tasty and the service is good
Hmm, what can i say about a Chinese place in def col next to the cheap and pedestrian 4s! we ordered the manchow soup, mixed fried rice with the chicken chilli, was ok, can't comllain.

One of the first Japanese/Chinese restaurant and one of oldest in Def Col. The ambience is still great and the staff very friendly and good knowledge regd menu. Give genuine suggestions. The quantity is pretty good. Had tried Ckicken Yaki Tori, which was great except a bit on oily side. Also tried Chiangmai Chicken and Chinese chicken Chopsuey. Both were great in taste. The quality & taste of food is still authentic and not like other chinjabi joints. Would love to go there and recommend for going there.
Its a very sweet and a cozy family restaurant. The food here is exceptionally good. This place was suggested by one of my colleagues and I was very impressed with the service. Chilly Chicken gravy and Chiken fried rice are my go to meal. Chicken Talumin soup is very delicious. Pan friend noodles is also a must try.
A very old joint we have been visiting since a long time. We generally order our staple dishes of Mizutaki soup, chili shrimp balls and fried chicken wanton. The flavors are quite typical Chin-jabi...but we like it.
One of the oldest and best Chinese restaurants in South delhi. They serve such good Chinese food. I love the authentic flavours. Thank god it is something different from delhi flavour. I ordered momos and noodles. And both of them were amazing
Never before have I ever ever everrrr had such amazing Chinese food. This place is hands down better than all those high-end fancy Chinese restaurants. And I believe this Aka Saka is 40 years old. Simple and calm ambience, the menu is to the point , the staff is just a look away. It will take you longer to order than your food to arrive. Chinese Chopsuey and kimchi salad is my recommendation. I had ordered veg. It tasted just out of this world (not beyond China though). Bad PJ .. but trust me on this review of the restaurant.
I’ve been going to this place since I was a child and they never disappoint.
The food is really good and service is absolutely amazing.
I’ve tried the chilli chicken, garlic chicken, sweet and sour chicken, schezuan chicken and all were super good!
The QUANTITY IS VERG GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY.
The Hakka noodles taste divine!
The fried rice could have more flavour though.
I’ve also tried some Japanese dishes and they were just as good!
good old founding pillar of the market. I recall visiting this place as a kid and nothing has changed since then, the food is old world style, nothing great but comforting in its own way. i have a keen liking to their khimchi, and hakka noodles. the portions sizes are still generous :)
Not a very high end but a decent place. Taste and preparation is more like road side chineese, but with much better quality ingredients and cleaner environment. Also I must mention the cutlery was very nice & well polished and service was very thorough so full marks on that.
This place is an Chinese institution ... it has been around for almost 40 some years . It’s a little shabby looking from the outside but the food is good, specially the talumin soup(ask for all meats) it’s a meal in its own
Been going here for 3 decades. It was much better earlier. Some dishes have changed with time. The chicken ala special is a classic only served here.
I guess my value of more for the nostalgia than anything else.
Do visit this place for calm Sunday lunch. Nice place with not over priced food, happy hours where you will get 1+1 on beer. Portions are really good as we order only two dishes, Shredded Lamb and Pork Ribs and even 3 of us was not able to finish any of the dishes. Service Staff is really courteous, however food takes time to come to your table, and its completely depends on dishes you have ordered. Quite nice experience for third time, will visit again soon.

My all time favorite Chinese go-to place. If you plan to dine in then
Must try-
Chicken Manchow soup
Pan Fried Chicken noodles
Chilly Garlic Prawns
American choupsey
Sometime back the quality of food had really gone down but AKASAKA bounced back
The food now is awesome & very very tasty
The clear chicken soup was out of this world
American chopsuey was delicious too
Ordered Mongolian chicken with gravy and chilly garlic fried rice. Good value for money. It would be a good place for lunch/ dinner gathering where 8-10 people can eat good Chinese food and drink without burning a hole in their pockets. (Very important considering the good location)
The decor is old fashioned and reminds you of the typical 90's fine dine. But it works. One small issue being the floor standing air conditioner blocks the view of the television for an entire row of seats. Small problem but worth mentioning.
Overall good experience
Would visit again
I love the quiet ambience and friendly service here. Music is also at pleasant levels. Also it's my husband's favourite place since our Lodhi Colony days and we have been coming here since a long time. We ordered corn soup, veg spring rolls, chicken drumsticks, stir fried Chinese greens with roasted garlic , one chicken gravy dish and steamed rice. As usual all were delicious except the spring rolls casing was very thick. Prices are very affordable. We paid around 2600 for 4 persons and that included drinks!! We were there during happy hours which was beneficial to our pockets:)
Old School
One of those places where you feel the desire to visit every once in a while, Old school flavors and dishes/menu. A feelgood restaurant that will certainly take you back a couple of years. The food is ok nothing to write home about, certainly would not not take someone who I would impress with the food. Good to enjoy a beer with a friend over a good long conversation and nice meal.
Located in def colony, this is a Japanese restaurant with no sushi which surprised us. It has enough space with seating space in two floors. The ambiance is nice and soothing and the service is quick. However, most of the food felt like Indian Japanese rather than authentic Japanese. I can't exactly complaint because food tasted good but if you are expecting authentic Japanese, this is not the right choice.
This restaurant is probably the most oldest food joint. I remember my parents telling me about it. Have visited quite a lot of times too. I would say there has been a decline in the quality and quantity of the food. But nevertheless, since I love chinese food I would recommend chinese lovers to try it. It authentic chinese food.
Thumbs up!
I go there for the friendly faces of staffs that has been there for many years,i remember years back when I forgot my wallet and one of the waiters came running after me before I got into the car.. great.!! ))
Amazing food. The ambience is still the same and boring. Loved the food, authentic Chinese. Do hit out for the choupsey and chilled out times!
Amazing place .. Authentic chinese .. Had haka noodles with szechwan chicken . Was totally amazing.. Must visit for chinese lovers. Service was really good and quick .
Ambiance 3/5
Service 4/5
Food 4/5
Cost 5/5
Value for money 5/5
One of the ol time small traditional restaurants (we love them) in the middle of def col market.
Cosy n comfortable seating, relatively small.
Service was slightly delayed but I could tell they prepare everything as you order so little delay is absolutely acceptable.
Soups were brilliant, specially the wonton soup. It was the highlight of the day. Very generous portion size (5/5)
Veg fried rice and noodle were quiet decent
Seasonal fried veggies with burnt garlic was good as well.
Fried wontons were nicely done and crispy specially with the sauces but I would skip it next time. In fact replace them with steamed wontons instead.
Overall food was great, so was the service, five people very comfortably dined for a comfortable price of Rs.2300/-
Loved this place, would definitely be visiting again.
Hope they maintain the food quality, service and specially the prices.
Aka saka a restaurant in defence colony a specialty outlet in Chinese cusine. First of all ambience is sophisticated. Decor is elegant. Restaurant is Very well managed and maintained. Staff and service is good. I had here fish in wine sauce(snacks) and chicken garlic(snacks) with sandy(beer cocktail). The taste of food was authentic. Overall loved it and will surely visit again soon.
This place is a heaven for chinese eaters.
1) Pocket friendly
2) Good portion size
We had starters and were too full to have main course.
Will definitely visit this place more often!
Aka Saka is one of the oldest Chinese food restaurants in South Delhi’s Defence Colony Market. Two floors and bar facilities with good Chinese fare makes this a good for friends get together , Aka Saka has stood the test of time and survived 4 decades due to it’s great food and friendly staff.
Good place to have drinks and nice chinese food. ..Love their honey Chilli chicken and the Chinese green vegetable stir fry. Always yummy and quick service too
This place satisfied my urge for Chinese food. The saucy prawns, succulent chicken pieces, differently prepared hot & spicy appetizers, noodles and rice giving it authentic taste of Chinese. I simple place at a reasonable rate, Aka Saka was an enjoyable experience.
It is one of the best Chinese restaurant in Delhi. They serve authentic Chinese food. Their spring roll are really good and are not too oily unlike other places. I have been there many times and they have maintained their quality from a very long time. A must try!
i have grown up eating here...old school great indian chinese....no complaints...they do have the best chopsuey in town..right next to 4s so you get a few drinks and go eat chopsuey...-)
Best chinese food I've had in a while! And that too at affordable prices..much better than any other available around my place. Home delivery and dine-in both have been great experiences.
Love their honey Chilli chicken and the Chinese green vegetable stir fry. Always yummy and the service also being on spot every time. A must for some good chinese food.
This is the place where I had my first Chinese meal and I guess they only got me hooked to this cuisine which is my favourite now!
Been quite a while since my last visit and was noticing the price rise though I believe it was inevitable.
Starting with the soups..Talumein, Chefs special and wanton are really good ..Flavoursome and authentic..Also the quantity is decent..
Appetisers are delicious including the Mongolian and the ones with black pepper sauce and the regular fried affair...
Their poultry/Sea food ain't that bad either though I assume they do have some off days but are more than willing to change the dishes if they aren't made to your liking.Sweet.
Aka Saka special chowmein is their take on the PAN Fried Noodles and I must say its worth it.
Manchurian is tasty and so are the other main course curry based dishes. They have a bar too so dipsomaniacs rejoice! Ha ha..
Aka Saka has been in the business since a very long time and they have been maintaining the authenticity. It is known for its taste of Thai and Chinese cuisine. A must go for those who are looking for a Thai platter in South Delhi.
I have been here once for dinner. Out of the many places in def col we chose this as we had heard about it before. The place was not very crowded neither was it fancy at all. The service was regular like any other place. The cutlery was also the usual. But the food was quite good for indian Chinese. I enjoyed having their soup, rice, noodles and chopsuey.
Old is Gold.. This saying is perfect to define this place.. Since last 9 years I have seen this place with same ambience and quality food... Everything here has Indian desi feel.. But still Chinese is @ its best... Reasonable and pocket friendly....
Though the food is very Indian Chinese there is comfort factor in that food. I don't come here for fine dining but to relive childhood memories. For me Aka Saka is iconic, it has always been there and hopefully will always be.
I liked their food! Why? Cause they served desi Indian Chinese. Don't be fooled by the name. Aka Saka serves you delicious Indian version of Chinese cuisines at an extremely affordable price. The chow mein was my top most favorite. Their veg fried is also something I recommend. Personally I did not like their seating on the first floor. It is a family restaurant but the bar is on the first floor. Worth a try if you are the Defence Colony.
Attached with the review are photographs of vegetable chow mein, chicken pepper, fried potato with pepper and salt, clear chicken soup, chilly paneer, and vegetable fried rice.
Authentic Japanese and chinese cuisine... Lovable lip-smacking food, Beautiful ambience and an in-house Bar.
😇Heaven for a foodaholic like ME!!! 😈
Been there few times. Great Chinese and Japanese food but cooked in Indian spicy style. Slightly more expensive than it is worth though.Good food, hospitality and personal service. Enjoy the crispy spring rolls.
As a die hard Chinese fan there is no way I could not visit this place. Every time i visit I don't get disappointed. The chinese food is authentic & delicious. Had drums of heaven, spring rolls, rice & chili chicken and i loved every bite of everything i had. I so loved there chili garlic sauce that on appreciation the person packed it specially without even asking for it. Every dish that i have tried till now has given me a great experience.
Was in Delhi few days back went their with family. The food they serve is not at all expensive as compared to others in def col. Dimsums were great. The staff is very humble. It's also the oldest place in def col but I still love to go there. .........cheers.
Everything is fine. Nothing much to complain. They tick almost all the boxes. Dimsums are great and green tea is very good. Although nothing here which makes me crave to go back.
aaka saka i would say one thing the way they are serving food feels like 5 star property, last time i had hot n sour soup that was really awesome... keep it up good job
An old place serving authentic Chinese and Japanese cuisine from the bygone era which still relives its glory amongst the Delhiites.
Food is nice. 4/5
Staff is very warm. I can still see some of the faces which were there in 90's. 4/5
Ambience : I believe they haven't changed anything in all these years so for me it reminds me of good old days. In comparison to the modern day restaurant its quite dull. 2.5/5
Price : Very reasonably priced in comparison to the authentic Chinese/Japanese cuisine restaurants. 4/5
The food is good . The staff is good . Always get prompt service . The staff needs a little training .one of the oldest places where my parents have been . The quality has been maintained ever since then keep up .
This is a pretty old (and popular!) place, I tried it for the first time last week. Its a good choice for chinese food. We started with the vegetable in salt and pepper, which were great. The shredded chicken in garlic sauce in the main course was delicious, not too spicy. Noodles and rice were up to the mark as well. To sum it up - good chinese food, good service and pretty reasonable.
This is a pretty old restaurant. Had been visiting it since i was 7. The people are really sweet. Pepper prawns and chicken wontons are amazing. Spicy bt wort
Located among the numerous restaurants and other food joints that dot the def col market,Aka Saka is probably the oldest.
We went on a friday night and as with all the popular localities, parking here is also a problem. Nevertheless after a bit of searching we found a good parking space.
The interiors and table layouts are extremely passable. We didn't try the japanese items and stuck to the tried and tested chilli chicken, chicken manchurian and veg fried rice. The food portions were good. On the food part we were satisfied though the service was a bit slow.
Overall a mixed experience
Well, if you're in the mood for some real Indian Chinese, this would be a good choice in the neighborhood.
The taste is not exceptional so usual Hakka noodles, chilly chicken, drum sticks etc are recommended, don't get too adventurous!
Not much has been done to keep up the place but for those of us who've been dining here for years, it feels like home!

Aka Saka is a very old restaurant at beginning of def col market service is slow food is nothing outstanding ambience is dull and poor dont have any reason to visit it back. Just went randomly while strolling in def col market. Buck up guys you need to improve on lot of things. Time is changing fast.
I will give it a 4.5 for the tasty food that it still manages to serve at the most nominal prices in the heart of Def Col...
remember going their on multiple occasions in my childhood with my parents.. the interiors remain old and the staff are still hospitable at these prices... you can request the chef for your variations in the food and they oblige...
The taste of the food remains very good but the ambiance, the crockery, interiors are not in line with the times... if you are a food lover and are ok with no frills restaurant, this is a good place to try..
people may take this for a Japanese food place, but go here for chinese...
Haka noodles and chicken soup is what i have loved ordering at this place . Everything about this place gives you a very old kind of feeling . From guard to staff and interiors even their menu has not changed over the years. Nice food overall. Worth giving it a short because of its so long survival in def col market.
Aka saka is a very very old restaurant located at entrance of def col market. It's probably the first restaurant in def col market serving Japanese cuisine. Has been visiting it for for past 15 years. But only sad thing about this place is that they have not changed anything in sense of interiors change is very important to cope up with time . I would have rated it 4 but because of ambience I'm rating it 3.5.
Have been visiting this amazing oriental eatery for the last 20+ years. The Mizutaki soup is a must have if you are in a group. The place seems a bit run down now but no complaints about the food.
Went to Aka Saka for my Parent's Anniversary. For the last few years , it has been a tradition to celebrate the occasion at this place. But this time, it was disappointing one. The quality has gone down, the service was not very good. They failed to deliver the Indo-Chinese cuisine (as i like to call it, because it is far from authentic chinese) that they are so famnous for.
My all time favourite order : Ved Chopsuey, was all soggy before i even took the first bite.
Chef's Special Fire Chicken, no balance in flavours.
Virgin Mojito : Could not feel anything except the fizz in my mouth, it felt as if it was a desi 7up + mint homemade mocktail.
But, my vegetarian mum did enjoy the Chilli Paneer, The Garlic Noodles, and the Vegetables in the Garlic Sauce.
But overall, not a very good experiece.
Our family personal favourite restaurant... Amazing Chinese food is served here... Must visit for Chinese lovers located in the heart of Def Col
A very old and popular restaurant in Defense Colony.Food and service was nice and has remained the same since then. But as far as we can remember the taste was decent but go with an open mind cause the name might be Japanese but the food is a heady mix of Indian style cooking. Some of the staff at Akasaka have been around for at least 15 years and I can also say the same about the dishes on the menu, the tables, the crockery.Need Major Renovation all Around
I have lots of old memories with Aka Saka since i have been visiting this restaurant since my school days. They are one of the first ones in the defence colony market along with Moets and Sagar. The food is still is the same as it used to be which i really used to fancy at that time but i feel sad that they have not kept their menu updated as per the latest trends. The menu is allmost still the same. The interiors too are the same for a long time and are not as the present times. I hope they bring in some innovation in their menu and re do the interiors. The location is one of the best, being on the ground floor in the main market. The regular items in the menu are delicious and the taste is authentic .
Been there just once....Friend's job promotion treat...Just one line for this place- Best Chinese preparation in my life! Everyone should get their asses there once in their lives.
This weekend, Aka Saka.
Well, I didn't find it to be great. We had ordered a Hot n Sour soup, Garlic Fried Rice, Veg Manchurian and American Chopsuey. The soup was too thick and the Chopsuey too slimy. I am not used to this kind of presentation/texture. And it is not normal too. Anyway, the taste was decent. The prices are like they are in other restaurants in the same locality. In my opinion, you can go there because there are not many Chinese restaurants in Def Col. Ciao, Happy Dining.
I have been going to this restaurant since I was a kid. The food and staff are fantastic. I have seen and tasted all the changes.
Aka Saka is an iconic Chinese/Oriental restaurant that has been around since 1973 and hence a reminder of us schoolboys hanging around Def Col Market in the early eighties....The food has always been amazing and the place seems exactly as it was 3 decades ago....definitely worth a visit once more and checkout for yourself....Talumein Soup Swwet corn or Hot n Sour soups...Vegetable Hakka noodles Chilli chicken and Stir fried veggies...
Awesome food even after so many years...Was visiting the restaurant after 20 years and so happy to confirm that their standards and quality are still the same.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal there! Highly recommended of course for authentic Chinese and Japanese cuisine!
The food was fresh and yummy! We ordered chicken clear soup and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Our four year old loved it too. The chowmin was very close to what we love about the street chowmin in Delhi so the taste buds wrr delighted. The service was quick and even sweet as there was some personal touch. The surrounding is just enough to have food and leave coz the ambience is not at par with others eateries we have options of experiencing. The basil chicken was my fav.
Excellent food. Good place for families. The restaurant could do with a makeover - it's been the same since the 80s.
Awesome food and great service. Food was hot and on time. Best Chinese restaurant in city....❤
Went with family, restaurant was referred by a relative , food was good, had dumplings hongkong chicken fried rice and noodles ..was a bit disappointed by the ambience and over all atmosphere...it didn't seem to be place frequented by people..when we went it was around 8.30 in the evening and we were the only one in the restaurant...later 2 more families came...waiter was good but the cashier was arrogant...at the time of billing felt the staff was forcing us for a tip
It's a cozy place, easy to find. The service is fast and polite. Menu is a mix of Chinese and Japanese food but everything was really tasty, the green tea pot was delicious. Good for a Friday dinner night. Try the sukiyaki pork or chicken.
Have forty year old memories of this restaurant so love most of the things here. Enjoyed our dinner , it's simple and they serve alcohol also.
Conveniently located in Defence Colony Main Market. Cozy seating set-up. Courteous staff. Large food servings. Good food. Recommended.

This is an old and established Chinese restaurant in Defence Colony. Have been eating here since last 40 years!! Food and service is excellent. The restaurant could do with a new interior as it is now looking fairly run down. However, for old Delhi residents there is nostalgia attached to this place and it's great value for money. Generous portions and piping hot freshly prepared food.
Visited this restaurant last week. The food tastes great and the ingredients are fresh. It is more like an Indian fusion with Chinese and Japanese cuisine. Tried the spring rolls, chilli chicken balls, sliced chicken in black bean sauce, along with chilli garlic fried rice. Portion sizes are larger than most Chinese restaurants. Even the non vegetarian options were quite flavourful. Staff is friendly and courteous. Resturant space is small, but cute with an old school vibe. Has a small television for watching matches while enjoying food and a small bar. Service is comparatively slower. Ample parking space outside, and restaurant is quite easy to find.
Delicious food at this cute place which has not changed over the years. Felt very happy that I used to come to this place earlier with my school friends, Uni friends and this time came with my family but the place has still great vibes. Well done team Aka Saka!!!
A small a reasonable place to have drinks and lunch/ dinner at a reasonable price.
