We had veg. Biryani, veg. Manchurian, paneer butter masala, butter Naan.. All items were too tasty. Butter Naan was too soft, and veg. Biryani was one of the best I had.

Love to being there for lunch with team members . It's quite difficult to find table during lunch time if you are more than . But their food taste are very good . Be it veg or non veg . Tried dal makhani , tawa soya chap , panner tikka or panner butter , handi chicken etc and taste are always good . It's very reasonable restaurant with good taste , prompt service with hygiene.
Recently I visited here with office friends for a quick lunch. We ordered Dal Makhani, Shahi Paneer, Soya chaap tawa style and paneer butter masala. All items was good in taste and enough quantity too. I observed in most of the small restaurants they used same gravy for shahi paneer and other paneer dish. But in Kalpana Restaurant gravy of all dishes was different. Just small space is a back drop here. Some customers are waiting out side the restaurant during lunch hours due to rush and few available space inside. Interior is nothing here, only plain coloured wash walls & using old type table and chairs here. Restaurant is not attractive at all but known for their taste in area around.
Really interesting restaurant and the food was amazing. The only reason for the loss of a star is the price vs. portion. Out waiter was great, friendly and helped my friend out with the items on the menu.
Food is good ...kind of pocket friendly.staff is also prompt but still feel there is a chance to improve...place is easily accessible if u come from main Janpath street/parking opposite to the Janpath mkt or u may need to find out ur way if ur coming from Tolstoy road
Kalpana is a restaurant which favoured me when i left with very less cash after shopping in palika and janpath. I came across this restaurant my priority was good food. I got this place through zomato. Must say food+ restaurant quality+prices = awesome experience for me at that situation. I had veg thali quantity and quality was really good.
While I was in the area, and broke as always, and hungry as always, Kalpana came to my rescue with its numerous food items on the menu and equally affordable rates!
Being a fan of Biryani, and Biryani being a dish which is served immediately, I ordered for a plate of Chicken Biryani at only Rs. 150/- !!!
The biryani came with gravy and onions, and there were 2 pieces with a good quantity of rice. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal!
The restaurant offers enough seating but when I visited it was dinner time and it was totally full! I had to get my plate of Biryani and sit in the car. But I think I will visit again to try more items at economical rates!
Food is good ...specially butter chicken ...kadai paneer..naan...veg n non veg thaali is also good...crowded during lunch hour when people breaks for lunch in cp...otherwise never so crowded...service is very poor..management has changed many time...

Although Janpath is an area which is most famous for its Posh restaurant and classy pubs, there are still a lot of small eateries in this area that serve a fine quality of food. Located on the Tolstoy Lane in Janpath, Kalpana Restaurant can be a good example of the same. Had gone to stay at a friend’s place a few days ago when we both decided to get something North Indian packed for the dinner. Browsing the options nearby, we spotted Kalpana and decided to get the following from here-
Chicken Biryani- Their biryani had chewy chicken pieces but the taste was still fine.
Veg. Thali- It had various items like Lachha Paratha, Dal Makhani, raita and paneer dishes. All of them tasted fine and their shahi paneer was enjoyable with the paratha.
As the thalis itself seemed very filling, we decided not to order for anything further.
To conclude, I would place Kalpana somewhere between the line of above average and good. Although the food quality out here is not brilliant, according to my opinion it can be visited once. But making any affirmative promises or a firm judgment just on the basis of a single visit about the food quality, is something that I would avoid at this point of time.

This is like 'you will never get it wrong' places near my office. I would recommend there Tandoori Parantha , Shahi Paneer (very strongly). Surprisingly there Biryani is top good and very close to what a Biryani should be like much ...much ...much better than so called High Banner places serving paneer. There Dal Makhni is great too so is Butter chicken.
I would have been to this place and ordered for Atleast 20 times but never thought of reviewing them here. They have simple straight no frills sitting area, which is generally jam packed in afternoon. There thalis are great too, they serve there thalis on order too which great packing.
A thumbs up for the good food at great rates. They have served as great alternatives on those days when u didn't carry my lunch to office.
Quick bite around the conner at affordable prices... We love the Aloo dum and garlic naan... the daal makhni is also brilliant.... Kadai Chicken is definietly worth ordering.... the condiments are a desi indulgence... freshly cut onions, masala and green chutney....
My office was in janpath so we all friends use to go the kalpana to have lunch 3 -4 time a week.

Food quality was nice..it's a small restaurant located at the lane just opposite to janpath market..we had chicken and egg thali. Quantity was enough was three of us. The curries were a bit reddish..maybe food colour was used..only that's the negative part I noticed..

This place derseves five star rating as the food for the price is just outstanding. The place is very small but will leave a very big lasting impression. Usually very crowded with the offices so best to come visit early.
Located in a corner at Janpath. Difficult to locate. Even after a lot of calls made, had to ask a lot of localists to find the way. However, the patience was worth. What good food + good quantity & super pocket-friendly place. A must go atleast once. Great and quickest service that I have ever seen. Way to go!

This one is a big surprise! Seriously, i would recommend this one to everyone. A small restaurant but the food beats many renowned restaurants. I dont visit here often coz i live a bit far but if i visit CP then one of my friend's takes me there.
By the time we were ordering food we were just busy in our chat and not thinking about the food. But when the food arrived and we started to eat it, it was a shocker! It was very delicious!!
We had dinner there around 9 and it was empty. I was surprised why is that so but My friend told me its for the local office staffs there and during day time its quite busy.
Sad that at eve/night people dont visit here maybe because they dont know about it as its not located at a good point where anyone would see it.

The best in the Menu is The chicken Biryani, Afghani chicken, Chana Masala.. and had few more dishes which were also good. Nothing disappointed me or my friends there.

I had dinner here with my friend in the afternoon. The place is not very big and the waiter is also the same. Here we ordered butter roti and dal tadka which was very good. The cleanliness was also good and the service was also one man. Despite being there, it was good. The taste of the food was amazing, although you cannot guess it by looking at the place and the restaurant. If you want to eat good and tasty food in less money then you should definitely come here. Dal tadka for Rs 130 and butter roti for Rs 15. There was one.
First time visiting this hotel have to go! It's the cutest little spot with amazing food. It was FIRE!! The service we received was so amazing and we will definitely be back again. They made us feel welcomed and give us an amazing experience north Indian food tast and services..
