Idlis which was use to be on the 1st floor has now come into a new avatar and shifted to the basement in the same building. The ambience has been done tastefully and will surely keep them up with their competitors. Each table has a screen attached to it. Don't know the purpose though. They have changed their menu too. Apart from their core domain South Indian, you can have Chinese, North Indian food too. The only problem is that they still don't serve the best of South Indian food which is their core competency. The Sambar is still shit and lacks flavour. In this visit I had Upma and Chole bhature. Upma was sad while Chole bhature were still above average. They have done great with the ambience. It's time to do the same with their food.

One of a kind place.
I tried the one located at Satya Niketan right opposite the Venky's.
I tried the Gun powder Idli & the tadka masala idli and they were quite like what I like.
Try them if you want to see and taste varieties in Idli & Dosa.
Try this if u love south indian food. Small decent place in crowded market of Satya Niketan, serving good south-indian food. 1.Very pocket friendly. 2.Service is quick. 3.Menu is extensive. 4.Quantity worth the price. 5.Clean atmosphere. Buttermilk is like my favorite. Masala dosa is also good.👌
I love their idli and plain dosa. One of my friend tried paneer dosa and liked it. I like the D Paul coffee they serve. Staff is polite and courteous.

If you want to try out a variety of south Indian eatables, this might be a good place for you to visit. Although I don’t like eating South Indian cuisine much, but I never hesitate in trying some of them. A few days back I had gone to my cousins in Satyaniketan and we decided to dine in Idlis. The place has fine ambience and nice interiors and the menu is mostly dominated by the South Indian cuisine.
Here is a list of items that I ordered-
BEVERAGES-
Kulhad Tea- Loved having it in early mornings during my college days, this tea was good.
Ice Tea Mojito- Not very good, I have had better ones earlier.
Butter Milk- Average with nothing much to complain about
Fresh Lime Soda- Refreshing and tastes good.
FOOD-
Onion Masala Dosa- The masala stuffing was less but the taste was good.
Paneer Masala Dosa- The paneer stuffing was fresh and spicy but the taste was very average.
Choti Thali- It is a South Indian thali that had Idli, Vada, Masala Dosa and Sambhar. Was very filling and tasted good.
Chilli Garlic Fried Rice- Considering that this place specializes in the South Indian cuisine and the Chinese, this dish was good.
DESSERTS-
Kesari bath- Nothing too special but tastes okay
Brownie Custard- The combination was nice and tasted fine.
Overall, it is a good place to go to if you want to have some nice south Indian food at reasonable rates.
Well, I read the reviews on Zomato. And yes, the IDLISS turned out to be a good choice on a cloudy afternoon lunch. The Ambience is good. The restaurant can easily accommodate 20-30 people at the same time. Service is good. Pretty Fast. Now, the food. I ordered a Butter Dosa and a Paneer Masala Dosa. And I was very happy with the taste which I felt on my tongue. The filling in the Paneer dosa was good. Not very spicy though, but the Sambhar and the Onion-Tomato chutney covered up the slight fault. The coconut chutney wasn't up to my expectations. The IDLISS is a great choice if you wanna satisfy your hunger for a good South Indian Food for a reasonable price. Go for it. You won't be disappointed.
Have visited this place many a times.. this time thought of ordering.. we orderd for masala dosa, cheese garlic dosa, plain soda, Sambhar vada, and of course idly. All the dishes taste good.. however the cheese dosa could have been better it lacked the flavour of the cheese and the garlic tasted raw.. apart from that the vada was crisp from out and soft from inside.. the idly was cooked to perfection.
The best part was the delivery time, we stay almost 4kms from this place and they deliverd in less than 30 mins.
We paid Rs 509 for the order which I beleive is real value for money in terms of the quality and quantity they serve..
Although during my time in college, venky's canteen had plenty of amazing south Indian dishes! Yet we chose going to this place because the idlis were too good! They were soft and delicious! Mysore Rava Dosa is a must try! Pocket friendly restaurant with great food!!!

As I was running late for my college class as usual I was feeling very hungry and parked my car right infront of this outlet and also oppt my college. I ordered a plate of Idli which thankfully arrived my table in 5mins. The Idli was soft and fresh while the Sambar had bang on south indian spices. The food was filling and not at all costly. Next time I visit here I'll surely try their dosa as they looked amazing to me!
Man oh man, oldie but a goodie I say.
I really like South Indian food, one of my favourites you could say - so back in college I used to go to this place a LOT. My regulars were the masala dosa, idli and depauls cold coffee.
The service is quick, food is reasonable and good. I mean, yes you could find a better place for South Indian food but this is not bad.
one of the best places for udupi food. great portions and good quality. love the meal combos. complete value for money! warning- the sambar is addictively spicy!
Decent outlet in satyaniketan as it is the only one outlet of serving some good quality south Indian dishes and they tend to maintain their standards till now right from the beginning of their establishment here in satyaniketan. Ambience:3/5 Service:4/5 Quality:3.5/5 Quantity:3.5/5
Hi Guys,Â
Penning my old experiences for the outlet. The place has changed a lot from its original days. While the quality of food remains constant, the cleanliness of the outlet and sitting area remains a bottle neck .
I do love the some of the Dosas this place has to offer. Some of my recommendations include:Â
Rava Masala Dosa
Rava Plain Dosa
Butter Masala Dosa
Rava Kesari (ok ok. Not that great.)
Dee Paul's Coffee - They do serve the one that is originally sold in Janpath Market, CP.
Last knight i visited to idlis its the only south indian restaurant in satya niketan. The food was average and service too.Well i was not having too much options in satya for south indian food.So that was the only one available
For south indian lovers , this place should be tried! Its ambience is not good as its not a proper dining place, more like a cafe but the food is amazing! Specially there Masala idli(gunpowder on idli), dosa , iced tea and depauls cold coffee! You can have a loads of south indian food at very economical prices!
A famous outlet at Satya niketan for south Indian food.
Nice food served hot and fresh at decent prices. Friendly staff.
Liked the Mysore dosa and the Paneer masala dosa!
Can be given a try!
Excellent Food, Nicely packed and delivered hot and fresh. Ordered Rava Idli, Sambhar Vada and Tomato Rice. Rava Idli was far better than any other south indian outlets. Sambhar and Coconut Chutney was awesome.Â
V less oil in Tomato rice, never had such before.
Must order South Indian outlet.
So, tried the mini thali here. The irony is, the idli was the weirdest thing on the plate. The sweet dish - the halwa was delectable.
Overall, a good experience. Friendly staff and clean interiors.
A small southern part of India in south campus of Delhi.
Nice food filled with variety. A must place to enjoy idlis in evening.
Truly south indian
Decent place. I use to visit this restaurant very often and specially for breakfast. Staff is friendly. Food is tasty specially south Indian dishes.
A cosy place which offers you good and delicious south Indian. The staff is friendly and the service is good. For all the south Indian lovers, this place is a must try.
Idliss has been always a good choice in satya niketan for south Indian food and their food is good they have open kitchen ambience is little hot and service is too much slow . If you go there must try panchtantra uttpam and their vada . They are awesome with sambar they provide .
I tried idliis,i order a chuti thali for which i got a masala dosa ,1 idli ,1 vada and a sweet dish all are good in taste ,but one problem is that is AC is not working and service is very slow .
We went here for Breakfast on our visit in Delhi. A good outlet , we had south Indian and it really tasted well. We also had alu poori, parantha , lassi & filter coffee. All were good. Decor is simple .

We were here for a very short time. We had to drive to the airport. This place was open very early in the morning. Very close to a university. The whole area is a student hub. Whereas for the food, we tried the poori Aloo, dosas, and Aloo paranthas. The lassi was totally superb. We finished off with a filter coffee. Lovely taste. Full marks for the food.
Located in satya niketan, serves good quality food every time. Cleanliness and taste is good. Just lack somewhere in north Indian food. Best known for it's south Indian food.
Idliss is a popular outlet here in satya Niketan which boasts of its amazing south Indian dishes. Iv had lunch here many a times and I find this place a bit over rated. Expect nothing out of the box here though nothing can be said bad but then nothing is too amazing even. It's all average but yes fresh fresh :)
There's no music in the background :( On the name of ambience it's noisy. The service is Slow!!!!!!! But yes according to the price of the items, the food is good.
Must trys here.. The masala dosa, vegetable uttapam, fried Idli n the cold coffee :) :) take extra servings of the sambhar.. Amazingly tangy in taste :)
Been here 2 days before, ordered rava onion dosa and a plain dosa, both the dishes were up to mark, service was quick
But again the ambience was below average and I don't know y they don't switch on the air conditioners till the time we ask to do so
Really great south indian food. Looks really hygenic. If you want to grab a full meal and you are on a budget then this place is a perfect option. The chutney is amazing and the idlis are really soft. Havnt tried the dosa ever. But idlis are a must have.
Food is good here. If you want a good food in economical price then you must try here. I tried masala dosa, paper masala dosa and chole bhature.....on and average , I was satisfied with the taste and quality of food....
Its totally a south indian restaurants , quality of food is really good , rates are bit high as compared to their quantity what they actually serve, spacious and hygienic.
Awesome food. I love the food. Its taste was so perfect. I have order the food from foodpanda with questions in mind. But it was so good. Will order next time for sure.
Food: 4.5
Ambience: 4
Service: 4
Value for money: 5
Overall: 4
Went there for a lazy brunch on Sunday. Situated in front of Venky college, the street is full of eateries. However, we wanted to try out south indian, so went to this place. Ordered Mysore masala dosa and dal vada.
Food is no doubt superb. Tastes good and totally fresh. Ambience is fine as this is not a proper fine dine retaurant. So it would not be wise to judge this place rigidly on ambience. Its clean tidy place and had utilized the limited space well. Service is spot on. All this comes at a great price.
Must go for a quick bite!
Awesum place for south Indian food....pocket friendly for everyone.....I visited many times. And every time I liked food served by them...:)
Good place for idlis....we ordered Rawa Idli and Fried Idli on the staff’s recommendation..Rawa Idli is vegetable-rich and pretty fresh, but did not click with some of our idli-connoisseurs...The Fried Idli is something different, and quite filling. A definite ‘Must Try’!Â
The place also serves the famous Depaul’s cold coffee, which has a homely taste. But the quantity is not worth Rs. 42. Meh, over-rated!
Being from venky this place holds emotional value .. apart from that the ambience is just okay, but the south indian is delicious! My friends and me don't like sarvana and other south indian outlets because we love the taste of this place so much! I love their red chutney. Yummy
No there isnt anything great in their ambience but if ew wanna have some real good south indian dish.. this z da place to be. There kulad chai is the best one ew wud find anywere in satya (or mayb not find).
Idliss was just next to my p.g so I went there the very first day .and I ordered pav bhajee and a dosa ..... I had my doubts about pav bhaji as this is a south speciality restaurant but It was lip smacking masala dosa was good sambhar was nice and tangy and chutney and were adequate service was quick ....but they rob u for lemonade ...30 rs for lemonade its better I make it at home.. ????
Extremely reasonable and a place where you can sit and chill with your friends and enjoy good food. Love the way they have successfully experimented with fast food, Chinese and North Indian dishes too. This place has come to my rescue whenever I have been late for my 8:45am class and have hunger pangs!(yes they open that early). Must have- Masala Idli, sambar vada, masala dosa, Mysore masala dosa, onion rava plain/masala dosa, paper dosa, onion utthapam, tomato rice, Idli Manchurian, noodles, chilly paneer, honey chilly potato.
You could also go here if you are a fan of Depaul's cold coffee.
However, they must improve their home delivery service. It took an hour and a half for food to reach from satyaniketan to vasant vihar.
Happy eating! :)
The ambience of rhis place is very nice. Very good when you are looking to visit it with your family.
We ordered dahi vada nd uttapam which were satisfying to our taste buds. Also the prices were reasonable.
Perfect south indian food... Authentic taste... Awesome red chutney.. Spring Masala Dosa is a must try here..!! Dont go for north indian food here..
Probably one of those pocket friendly places where you get good quality and great quantity in a decent enough ambiance.
The ambiance is well good, like a clean college cafeteria. The food is priced good and the quality of food is just as homemade food. The place is hygienic.
It is an ideal place for people staying away from home, which is really important in the campus area.
We order there paper dosa which is massive. The paranthas are yummy, light and healthy too. So yes, it is a good place to fill your tummy and feel satisfied.
Perfect eating joint for hostel or pg people to enjoy simple home-cooked food. The food is reasonably priced and the quality of the food is great.
Strongly Recommended: Aalu puri, Uttapam, Idli, Manchurian dry and thali. Loved the service (Y) Thumbs Up
I liked the food for sure but being an ambience junky i cant rate it more. I went there with aomw friends for light snacks n we had tandoori idliss and ice tea n day's special mithai dat was gulab jamun. As i mentioned earlier food was nice and would recommend it for light eaters!
Nice little place to have decent Idly's in this part of Delhi + the super awsum & famous DPauls' Cold Coffee.
Pricing is great on pocket + an OK ambiance (better than the small south Indian joints.
Plus the hygine factor seem to be better than road side shops.
value for money nice little cosy place to enjoy with family, nice and yummy food
We've spent almost two years of our college life here. And we've tried everything on the menu and the staff probably loved us. We've made a lot of memories at this place. I love their onion chutney specially. And the uttapams are my favorite andso are chhola kulcha.Â
I usually have my breakfast here, after getting late for my first class almost every morning.
Dont order dosas, just order what it stands for - idlis!
The best things about this joint are:
1. VFM
2. Cleanliness
3. Considerably healthy food
4. Quick service
5. No fuss regarding extra accompliments
This area particularly lacked a good South Indian eatry. Idli king opened up in 2012 and managed to fill the void.
It has so happened that out of the 4 times I've been here, thrice I was starving. Each time Idli King came to my rescue.
Have tried almost everything south Indian on their menu, not been disappointed even once! Also got the food delivered, it was packed well and the acompliments sent along were more than sufficient.
The interiors are simply done, I really like the idli stands hanging from the ceiling :D
Idli king, as the name suggests would obviously be a south indian resto.
Located in the middle of satyaniketan market, idly king is a very student pocket friendly place to visit and youll find that a lot of college students just flock here.
I really like their idly and chutneys, however their sambhar dosent really live up to the mark. I also tried their masala dosa and rawa masala dosa which were a fair deal too.
I was a little disappointed with their chola bhatura and the quantity of chole wasnt adequate.
Nice and clean ambiance to sit in along with your friends, chatting while having some healty and light food stuff.
Ps-they also serve depauls coffee(janpath) here.
7.5 /10 its good place for college students for evening classes n morning classes students , but for dine in 2.5/5 seats not comfortable , ambience is poor , less tables , menu must have more dishes added like sagar ratna or A2B ... dahi vada I had was 3.5/5 .. dosa n all over all ok but sambhar is 2/5 .. its not chennai or udupi style ... over-all its 7/10 by me
*staff:-4.2/5.. :)
*neatness of resturant :- 4/5
*food:-3/5 needs improvement .
*over-all:-6.3/10 needs big improvement. .
I know the 5 rating might seem a bit too much, but they totally deserve it.
I am not going to talk about the ambiance and all coz at the end of the day, while sitting in a college hub, lighting and seating are the last things on your mind.
The menu is simply PERFECT and the food. I can't explain it in words. It is some of the most authentic and tastiest South Indian food I have ever had. The chhoti thaali is my all time favourite coz it feels like a whole bonanza of delicious food items in just 120 rupees :-0 (I know right, 120 is hardly anything).
The next best thing they have is Depauls coffee which let's admit it has a soft corner in each and every deli-ite's heart.
If none of these things have attracted you, the prices DEFINITELY will.
In conclusion, this is THE place if you don't have a quality wallet but always expect quality food. The staff tries to make your experience a memorable one and in my case, they really have succeeded.
Their North Indian is as good as the South Indian.Serving only vegetarian is an add-on.North Indian thali works very well for office meals and is quite fulfilling. One can also have a plate of fresh idli's with piping hot sambar and tomato chutney as a meal.Light on stomach and pocket.
it is gud south Indian resturant in satyaniketan.. it is favourite destination for the students of 4 colleges.. the cost is moderate. I also buy samber and chutney in night fr eating along with rice in hostel.. rava onion masala dosa is my like in this resturant.. for having spicy touch u can also try spring masala dosa..
I visit this place any time I don't want to cook and I don't want to spend too much money. This place serves wonderful dosas and their dahi vada is great. I also like their pao bhaji because the bhaji is not that spicy and great for my palate. Their delivery service is also great.
Good food
Gud amount of choices.
Reasonable
Must try
We are regular to idli king, if you are looking for south indian food, then this is the right place to have. It is value for food and money both.
Great ambience, very quick service, the order was on the table approximately 2-3 minutes after placing it. Pocket friendly, nice, compact, quite place. Great experience all together.
Good food excellent taste n very hygienic. But. Staff is over smart if u ask for extra sambhar they are reluctant also drinking water is an issue i mean for the price being charged its irritating less
I had heard about Idli King from a friend of mine. To be honest I do not really love South Indian food, but I definitely wanted to try the place out simply because I had heard so much about it.
This place is located bang opposite Venkateshwara college building, in Satyaniketan, popularly known as South Campus.
The place is made up in two floors, with only one floor that offers a seating arrangement.
We ordered a Nimbu Pani each, a lemon rice, a mysore plain dosa and a masala idli.
The first thing I loved about the place was that they keep De Pauls packaged Cold Coffee and Nimbu Pani, which really dont need an introduction for any Delhite.
The Mysore plain dosa was nice and crisp, very thin and cooked to perfection.Served with deliciously spiced sambar, coconut chutney and tomato chutney.
Their tomato chutney was slightly different and had a creamy touch to it, but was yummy no doubt.
The coconut chutney was also good, however for me, the mysore part of the dosa was the star!
The dosa had an inner layering of mysore masala, which is basically very spiced up coconut chutney spread evenly on the inner layer of the dosa. The chutney was so nicely spread and spiced that I just did not need any other accompaniment.
The Masala Idli was also very scrumptious. It was a normal idli sprinkled with a powdered masala made out of south Indian spices and gun powder. The Idli when dipped in the hot sambar, was just heavenly.
The lemon rice was very nice, by which I mean that the quality of rice used was up to the mark, their was sufficient sourness to it and when I mixed the tomato chutney into it, it felt as if I am walking in the streets of Southern India.
I would also want to mention that this place is very clean and hygienic, which a place so easy on the pocket generally is not.
The lamps on top of each table are in the shape of Idli holders and the ceiling is covered with the traditional Indian "chik"
All this over here costed us Rs 250 only.
I was very happy to eat good food at such a decently priced place.
Kudos Guys.
All in all:
Food: 5
Ambiance: 4.5
Service: 5
Value for money: 5

I really like south indian cuisine nd when I tried idli king it ws a good experience ...there rates were reasonable nd food quality ws also good but there waiters seems to be deaf my friend asked for spoon he gave tissue nd d same happed 2 more times ..there rava idli rava dosa were really good but I didnt find filter coffee to be equivalent of that one I tried in chennai but it was oki ..
All the people who have passed out from Venky (like I have) or the others in and around South Campus area surely know that the college canteen serves the best south Indian dishes in the vicinity. However, giving tough competition to it is IDLI KING (Thalaiva…!).
The décor is not much to boast about but they have hung idli makers in place of lamps (interesting idea). The staff is quite friendly and attentive to your constant requests for coconut and garlic chutneys. Menu ranges from Malabar Parathas to Rava Idli to the much famed De Paul’s Cold Coffee, this place will definitely attract the college goers. The prices are not heavy to the pocket either with a sufficient meal costing you around 200 per couple.
Coming to Malabar Paratha, the layers within the layers keep you transfixed and its after a few moments when you start eating. It comes with an unlimited serving of the vegetable korma (the flavor of coconut is subtle yet there is no lack of it either). The 2 parathas come in huge size and leaves you fully filled at the end.
De Pauls’s coffee, although, the size should be increased of the bottle definitely, the taste is same as ever. Lip smacking!
The place also accepts food coupons
The name and the location of this restaurant has been changed. It is now known as "Idliss - Bistro". Now it is in the basement of adjecent to the building where it use to be. Price is a bit overpriced but quality is very good.
At first i was hesitant to enter, but once i was in, d experience was different.. As d name of d cafe is Idli king, i thought it wud serve south indian delicacies but to my surprise i saw many north indian delicacies on d menu and also some chinese tastes too which made it abit better.. D food served is quite good, nd is hygienic. 😊😊
